About me: I am the founder of The AB Restorative Society. http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/3007652

If you think that I am saying abolish all negative ratings, then you really aren't listening to me. Please see my answers about why "trolls" have no power over you: http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/248824

zazzy_one@yahoo.com. Please put "AB" in the title somewhere.

I am a friendly type but you might think I am nagging in some comment. I appologize in advance. I think that good intellectual argument is not bad. That if you are making a point, it should stand up to good argument. If you met me in person, you would see that I am a teddy bear of a friendly human being.

My Friends List is a group of people who have asked to be on my list. I do not often consult this list, that is just not how I roll. I think if we stick to certain friends, that a lot of people aren't getting any attention, since we all have limited time. By de-emphasizing the friends lists, we decrease cliquishness, imho. All of this is to say, don't assume that if you see someone on my friends list that I pay special attention to them. If you want to know who I really respect and/ or am friendly with on AB, ask me. I will tell you.

I am a lawyer-chick* with two kids: 21 and 6 ( !) Live in a rural community and race around a lot. Get paid to advise people on very sensitive, important topics involving their families.

*By answering a question on Answerbag, I have not engaged or been retained by any site participants as their lawyer, counselor, or attorney at law. Although the Answerbag program lists me as an "expert" in several areas of legal expertise, I am not an expert in any, as: 1) the State I practice in does not allow declaring of expertise; 2) I only practice in one state, (and that state is not California) and hence the likelihood that your jurisdiction and mine collide is extremely limited; and 3) even if we reside in the same state, if I have not spoken with you in depth (unlike this forum allows) it is unlikely that I know every detail to propose THE BEST legal strategy for your individual case.

I often say in my answer to legal cases and will emphasize it here now that: when you ask a general legal question in one or two sentences and lacking any jurisdictional information, you may as well have not asked the question at all! If you ask Can I go to jail for a turn signal violation," there is absolutely NO WAY that an Answerbagger can give you all the information your need to make the best possible decision about this case! They are just as likely to do you harm as good! The problems (aplenty) in this simple question include: 1) MOST IMPORTANTLY: that we don't know where you are (the biggest mistake in these cases): so perhaps you can go to jail in Mississippi, but you can't in Seattle; 2) we do not know what your legal history is. It is very common for even a petty criminal to end up in jail (say a shoplifting charge that went unresolved three years ago) because when a cop stops her for a tail light, they run her record and find that she never paid for that c.d. she stole when she was a kid.... On and on.

Bottom line: if you have a legal question, you need to ask a real lawyer, IN YOUR JURISDICTION. If you have no moolah and that's the reason you are on this site, I strongly reccommend that: 1) if it is a criminal case, you call your local public defender's office and ask to speak with the "attorney of the day" for advice; and 2) if it is a civil matter, you call the state bar association OF YOUR STATE and find out if there is either a pro bono legal program (where lawyers volunteer time to help people understand their legal rights) or a legal clinic (where law students work with lawyers to help your case proceed through the proper legal chanels.
