Answer to:
why does a cloud form?
Clouds are essentially steam. As the sun heats the earth water evaporates from the ground as vapour which rises into the atmosphere. Water vapour is made of tiny little droplets. When you have enough vapour, a cloud is formed.
As more vapour rises up the water droplets in the clouds become larger and heavier (as they stick together). When they become too heavy they fall as rain. This...

I just brought my cat's sister home. They DO NOT get along right now ( imagine instant hissy-fits ) How do I help them make friends?
Cats do not recognise other cats as siblings so as far as your feline is concerned, the new cat is an imposter.
Some cats in a multi-cat household never get along, others are not bothered and some merely tolerate each other.
To discourage conflict, all you can do is make the environment as stress free as possible for them. This means: no competition for food, feed each cat in it's own...

Apparently they can. Research was done into why some people cannot sing a single note in key but don't seem to be aware of it.
It turns out those people do not hear the same thing that everybody else hears; they think they can sing and don't understand why they are told they can't.

There is nothing wrong with meeting people online as long as you use common sense about it.

You cannot form any reliable opinions about a person if you have never actually met them. Successful...

Well I don't really see a problem with it. The fact is, the heat is going to be produced anyway, it is simply a by-product and there is nothing morally wrong with recycling it and using to heat a swimming pool. Surely this is a better choice than simply pumping it into the atmosphere and then having to generate electricity to do the job. As far as the environment is concerned, using the the...

Spent, £3 on a bloody parking ticket, stuck it on the window, went away and came back to a £25 parking fine for not displaying a valid ticket for the vehicle. Great, really great. £28...

What's the best way to heat your home, not having to freeze all the time, and at the same time, have the smallest electric bill you can?
The best thing you can do is invest in insulation for your home. This can be expensive but does make a difference. Think cavity wall insulation, lagging the loft, double or triple glazing and a new efficient boiler. Of course, by the time you've done that lot, you won't be able to afford to have the heating on anyway!

why do cats leave dead moles at my front door step? (plz read)
The thing is, far crom being just your cute little fluffy, the cat is one of nature's best hunters. Everything about a cat is perfectly designed to hunt and kill prey, so your cats are simply doing exactly as nature intended. Cats are not fully domesticated and while they live with us, they are in fact semi-wild animals and act out of instinct; this includes bringing their prey back home.

Not real. We know this because after years of so called sightings, scientists went off to the loch with all their high-tec kit and literally scoured it for signs of a monster. There was of course, nothing to be found which was duly announced in the papers. This was a bit of a shame really because it obliterated the whole Loch Ness Monster mystery and the fun that went with it....

I take it to mean that sometimes things happen just because they do and there's no more to it than that.
Answer to:
When we say we want to help ourselves 'get better' what exactly are we referring to? And, what precise measuring stick are we using?
We are referring to taking control of our life and taking whatever steps are necessary to resolve any problematic issues we have. Nobody else can do it for you so there comes a point when you realise that you either help yourself or change nothing and stay as you are. Sadly, this is a life skill that is only learnt following a negative event such as a relationship breakdown or losing your...

No but that was never the point was it? Physical proof is not a requirement of belief in God, never has been and never will be.
Answer to:
How much of what we do self-vested? How can we ever begin to assume what we say or do is not directly linked to our motivations of benefit?
Everything we do (more or less) is self-vested. It cannot be any other way - it makes no sense to perform actions or display behaviours that are only beneficial to others. You must always be the most important person in your own life. It is nobody else's job to ensure you are happy with your life - it is yours. You don't have the power to control anybody else, only yourself. Some people...
Answer to:
How much of our life is spent in personalization:a misguided notion that we are responsible for other people's thoughts and actions? Why?
I think a lot of people do the opposite and display a remarkable lack of personal responsibility. Everything is always somebody else's fault, never of their own doing.

why do people believe in god?

SCAM!
why shouldn't they believe in God? What is the problem with any person believing in something that promotes their own personal well-being? Nobody is saying it has to be true, that is not the point. Nobody expects you to do the same or quite frankly cares. But, just as you would not appreciate somebody telling you that your beliefs are utter crap, you do not have the right to do the same to...

Answer to:
If i get a male and a female kitten how often will they mate?
Put it this way, at about 6 months old the male will develop romantic feelings towards her. The gestation period is roughly 58-65 days or so. The kittens remain with the mother (before she rejects them) and can be re-homed after about 12 weeks. The female (queen) will then get back in the saddle. She will have litter after litter after litter. Any play fighting between the pair will become...
Answer to:
If your cat likes certain people, do you also like those people? In other words, do you trust your cat's judgement?
No. As perfect as my furry little friend is, he uses a completely different (and somewhat limited) set of criteria when making a judgement. For example, on seeing one end of a coat hanger laying on the floor he judged it to be some sort of snake and studied it, stalked it and then in one final display of courage, attacked it. When it comes to people, things are equally basic: steer well...

What exactly are the differences between men and women, in your view? (aside from obvious physical differences). And how do you know?
If a man has a problem then he deals with it by finding the quickest most effective solution and once resolved, it is over and done with. It a task-based approach.
If a woman has a problem, then discussing it with her friends as many times as necessary is just as important as finding the solution - sometimes more so. Even when a solution has been found women often return to the discussion...

It's simple, you just say 'no'. And you keep on repeating it over and over and over again as many times as necessary. If your ex was abusive and you go back to him then, quite honestly, you are utterly devoid of even minimal intelligence - my cat will have a higher IQ than you and his brain is really very small. It will only work if both of you are 100% OK with it - and you really have to both be completely honest and upfront about your feelings.

Why would a gay person or a woman even want to be a preacher? Isn't that like a black person wanting to join the KKK?
Because everybody has the right to choose what to believe in and can interpret their chosen faith in any way they so choose. It's all subjective and open to interpretation. Two people following the same faith can have completely different interpretations of it taken from it's particular religious texts. No it's not fair but that is neither here nor there I am afraid. Right or wrong, people are entitled to their opinions and where faith and religious belief is concerned, it is always a battle ground between the different groups. Are people normally and consciously aware when they are being manipulative? How so?
Yes - always but it is very rare that anybody will ever dream of admitting it. We all know when we are trying to get our own way - how can you not know? Even a drunk or stoned person knows what they are saying/doing at the time of doing it - they just don't...

Well you teach people how to treat you so if you don't punish bad behaviour you are actually saying, 'carry on doing what you are doing, I don't mind'.

Why do people, especially many women (whether they're friends or strangers), make a huge issue out of someone not wanting to have kids?
We should all adopt a live and let live attitude in a perfect world but people are just not like that. Each person lives their life in the way they believe to be a good way. Just as you don't understand their attitude about kids, they have no understanding of yours either. So both parties are the same as far as understanding each others attitudes is concerned. Hate to say it, but if he has children with her then they will always be a priority as they should be. Together or apart, they will always be the parents. They will look the same as they do now but with the addition of some sort of ring attached thus drawing even more attention to them. Why Does It Seem Like It's So Hard To Survive?
Well peace and happiness will not be forthcoming if you continue on the way you are now. Whatever you are doing at the minute, it is clearly not working for you. It seems that while you want to do something to improve your life you have not yet decided what that is and as a result, are just going round in circles. Do you think the brides bouquet should be white or colorful? Flamboyant or simple? How have (or would) you design your bridal bouquet?
It should be whatever the bride wants it to be and if she really wants plastic flowers and sausage shaped balloons in it, then that is what she should have. Your wedding day is one of the very few days when you get to have exactly what you want and not what everybody else wants you to have. It's the one day when you get to be selfish and have what you want. This applies to everything from...

Girls is the reason why your never "heart broken" if a guy rejects you cause you think lots of other guys will fall to your feet?
You have to deeply care about somebody to be heart-broken when they reject you. How can guys you've never even met have any bearing on how you feel about the guy who just rejected you? So it is OK for you to reject her and not feel heart-broken about it but not OK when she isn't heart-broken about it as well? And women should be confident when it comes to looking for guys.

There is no point in taking classes in any subject if your heart is not really in it. If you want to pursue a career then you must like what you choose to do and really want to do it. Just because you have artistic ability it doesn't mean you have to pursue a career in art.

You don't deal with them at all, you make sure there's as much distance as possible between you at all times and then you let them get on with it. Are you able to tell where other people live on here based on how they spell and the words they choose to use?
Yes if the person is from the UK (me) or the US because we do spell some words differently and use variations of words. If I am posting a comment to somebody from the US and I am talking about (for example), the freeway, I have to keep remembering not to call it a motorway instead. If somebody uses the word 'Mum' you can bet the person is English or from the US if the spelling is 'Mom'.

Hmm, well first of all, forget the whole star-sign Aries thing, that has absolutely no bearing on anything at all.
Next, uber-stubborn Mom is not as bad as you think. You may believe that her main purpose in life is to defeat you in every argument but it's not. The reason for yet another argument happening is because we all reach the stage whereby we clash, head-on with our parents. You...

As it happens, uncalled for comments about a person's appearance (unless complimentary), won't be welcomed whatever they may be. Remember, if you can't say anything nice, then it's best to say nothing at all.

Why does the West think that in societies where divorce is discouraged, that women are oppressed when puts not?
100 years ago (UK) divorce was frowned upon by society and thus there were very few divorces. However, the fact that most people only married once did not mean that all of those marriages were happy ones - a lot of people would have stayed married simply because they felt they had no other choice and made each other miserable as a result. A 50% divorce rate may seem bad but staying together...

Because it's nothing to do with anybody else but him. The thing is, you don't have the right to demand that he tells you about his past. I don't believe that animals are capable of the same range and depth of emotion that we are. Our emotions are generated by the brain and for animals to be capable of the same, they would require the same level of intelligence.
However, love and emotion comes in many forms. Dogs for example, have evolved to be able to read human emotions by look at faces. They can read basic emotions such...

If they have the same problem then they have not yet arrived at a solution either. Problems tend to be of a personal nature and it is unlikely that both are identical and therefore both require an identical solution.

Me! I thought it was a load of rubbish. She was a ballet dancer who lost the plot. She quite clearly was not the full ticket from the start. I couldn't see the relevance of the pushy mother either. Yes - religion is part of the world we live in and children should be taught about it. However, they should be taught about different religious practices and faiths. The classroom is not the place to preach the Gospel. School is for teaching about religion not for practising religion.
And, religious studies should not be taught as part of a science lesson.

It's called 'gossip'. People the world over, all gossip about what this person or that person is doing, has done blah blah blah. No, your relationship is nobody else's business but your own but that does not mean that others will not gossip about it. Answer to:
Is love part of your daily life?
How so?
All major religions have the same Basic message,>> love
Yeah but the problem with religion and love is that religion often only loves itself and looks down upon others who do not follow the same faith.
Love is everywhere though. Love can be found all over the place in abundance. Love exists in so many different forms and all are variations of the same theme. Love is part of daily life for most people and while it may not always be glaringly...

what is child if mother is half irish, a quarter israeli, a quarter greek and father is half palestinian, half polish?
You don't determine a persons nationality by looking at their family tree. Where would it end? We'd have to trace back the birth places of our ancestors. What a nightmare it would be. Much much easier therefore to simply say, wherever you are born is where you're from.
Answer to:
Can you drink opened Irish Cream if it hasn't been kept in the refrigerator?
Irish Cream does actually go 'off' and I think you have to drink it within a few weeks of opening. It contains cream which is why it has a short shelf life. It should tell you how long it lasts on the side of the bottle. I'm not sure it would make you ill though - cream sours much the same as milk does. Pour some of it out into a glass and see if the cream has curdled. If it's full of...

It will save you money as you'll need to buy less gas for the car. You get to feel morally superior to all the other people who take the car for a 1 mile drive to the shop!
Drawbacks: when you get to the shop, you can only buy 2 bags of groceries because you cannot carry anything more.

Is it ok to let your baby just cry if you can't figure out what they want. (I mean a 2 year old not an infant)
If there's no obvious reason (physical) then you have to come down to a 2 year old's level of thinking. A very young child simply does not have the ability to express their feelings in the same way an older child or adult does. They lack the vocabulary and reasoning to be able to express themselves properly and so, they cry. Often they become very frustrated and this is displayed with tears....

I've had confessions from two guys, telling me they like me.. And I'm utterly stuck. What can I do?
It's a 'no-brainer'. While sweet and funny are nice, amazing chemistry is the thing that creates the spark. The old adage of opposites attract is not a given for a successful romance. People are drawn to each other because of common ground between them (similar interests, characteristics and so on). When I first met my husband, he told me that I was like 'the female version of him'. He...

Is an older brother a good role model for a younger sister, by virtue of being a boy? and older?
Girls and boys behave differently and the best role model for a girl is an older woman - normally Mum or other significant adult. She will learn how to behave based upon the way her Mother behaves. Even very young children know early on, if they are more like Mum or Dad. And so where in a two parent family, the biggest single influence is the same sex parent. In a single parent family, the...

The rule with a sick man is not too be too sympathetic else you will make it at least 60% worse within the first 5 minutes. It's a man thing. There is nothing worse than a husband who is too ill to do anything at all but does managed to sit up on the computer until 3am.

I don't think it matters what sign you are. The kind of year you have will be based in part on what you expect to happen. If you want to find problems you can do so if you look hard enough and the same applies to the opposite outlook. If you want to, you can set yourself the challenge of making this your best year yet.

can i have a healthy baby if my boyfriend does drugs?
Shouldn't you really be asking yourself if you should have a baby with a guy who does drugs? If you want to have a baby then it's your job to make sure you pick a man who has the potential to make a good father to it.
A child has the right to expect you to give it the best possible start in life that you are able to. A drug habit is not one of the characteristics of what makes a good...

Mary Whitehouse tried this idea out in the UK back in the 70's I think. She even tried to ban Tom and Jerry. Then the country came to it's senses.
People need to start using a bit of common sense over things like this. I grew up in the 70's. I watched the cartoons of the day and if you compare them to the politically correct stuff they show now, it would make your hair stand on end....

Why do you think some people have such problems with authority figures?
Most of us have a problem with authority when we are younger and most of us eventually grow out of it because we realise that it is counter-productive.
Being a rebel is all well and good but it gets you nowhere and makes life much more problematic that it need be. Some people seem to lack the capacity to understand this in even the most basic of terms. We cannot live in a lawless society...

Does not being outgoing make you a boring person?
Of course it doesn't. Some people are extrovert in nature and others aren't. Some a bit of both.
People often mistake introverts for being shy, quiet and as having few friends. In fact this is completely wrong. Introverted people are often very popular amongst their peers. While they are not as loud as those with an extroverted nature they do not necessarily lack confidence or find it...

why does my dog follow only my mom around and not us she starts to whine wen she is in a closed door with us and shes not with my mom
Dogs are intelligent animals and they form emotional bonds with their owners. Part of this stems from the pack mentality. Dogs are social creatures and do not do well left alone. In the wild, dogs live in packs. If you Mum is indoors with your dog most of the time then of course the animal will form a close attachment to her.

Having to pay the money back is a big downside of a loan, and with interest on top.
On the upside, a loan is essential if you need to make a big purchase of something that you could not afford to buy in one lump sum otherwise. A car for example. Or, even bigger, a house. Another plus point is that when you take out a loan you credit rating will improve which, in this day and age is...

How do I overcome a limiting belief?
First of all, whatever you do, whoever you are and however talented you become, there is ALWAYS somebody who is much better at it than you are. There is also always somebody who is much worse at it than you. The good news is, this applies to everybody in equal measure. Do not fall into the trap of believing that you must always be better at something than everybody else. You don't have to...

Driving
You could do, if you can really be bothered. The fact is, he's not going to hold his hands up and say, "Yes I did it Officer", is he? He'll deny it and as your car has absolutely no damage to prove otherwise, then it's your word against his. Morally the guy should have some sort of punishment meted out to him. His behaviour is absolutely unacceptable. However, what are the chances of...

Answer to:
can a father take custody if the mother does not work but is in college but she does provide everything for the child
A child is not a pawn. Ultimately the courts will decide for the parents if they are unable to sort this out like adults themselves. One parent cannot simply take the child away from the other parent unless there are grounds to do so and the child's welfare is at risk. Providing for a child is not just about financial stability. Indeed, in this case, while the mother may not be in paid...

What are a few (cheap) ways to bring back the passion and romance in a LTR?I cant exactly do a romantic weekend getaway in this economy.
Go on a date together. Doesn't have to be expensive. Get dressed up and go somewhere just the two of you. You don't need a romantic getaway to be romantic. Walking along the beach or in a park, holding hands is just as good. Do something you both like doing and make sure you don't give the impression that it's all about going to bed at the end of the night! Go and have FUN together. Do...

Coin flip: Do black couples ever adopt white babies? Why or why not? Just curious...I don't personally know of any...do you?
Until this week (UK), couples were not allowed to adopt any baby/child that was of a different race to them. The powers that be have now seen the error of their ways and decreed that it really does not matter what colour the parents are when there is a child without any.

I met a guy who I care for very much.He walk out of my life without saying a word.I found out he's a drug addict and I am heart broken.
You cannot have a happy successful relationship with a drug addict. This is not how things work. He is already in a relationship but not with you, with drugs. If he's walked out then he's done you a favour because all the while he's an addict, any future romance is doomed. You must know this. Don't allow yourself to believe that you can 'save him' - you can't. Nobody saves anybody,...

all the ladies how many of you are with a guy that you love him alot and cheated or are cheating on him and dont tell him and why do this?
The fact is, if you really love somebody, you don't cheat on them. If you really love a person then you only have eyes for them - you just don't notice anybody else. Actions speak much louder than words. Take more notice of what people do than what they say, if you want to know how they truly feel.

What do you do when your babysitting someone elses kids and they dont mind you?
You don't have to raise your voice to assert your authority. In fact, not raising your voice has much more effect. You have to be serious, stern and say things like you mean them. Watch you body language as well. Be super assertive - no laughing or smiling or coming across as a 'push-over'.

What's the best way to stop living in a negative future within my head?
Look, it serves no purpose to spend time worrying over things that have not happened yet. Aside from completely random events (such as an acorn falling and hitting you on the head as you walk under an oak tree), the future is determined by the present. In other words, it's what you do now that will have bearing on what happens in the future. Concentrate on the present. Nobody can guarantee...

I broke up with my ex seven months ago over some small issues. It was out of my anger not my real intention to break up with him.
The fact is, he did not want to restart the relationship seven months ago even though he knew that you did. Had he changed his mind, then he would have been in contact by now. You say he is passive but this does not mean he's the kind of person who is afraid to say what he wants or doesn't want to happen (as he did when you asked him back).

What do you do when a parent dies? How should you respond? It will hurt and be scary. How do you cope? I know it will happen, it worried me.
Cross that bridge when it comes to it. There is no point in worrying about things which have not even happened yet. Of course it will happen. Everybody's parents die eventually. There will be plenty of time to think about them being dead when they are dead so do not try to give yourself a head start by doing it while they're alive.

My friend is being really distant with me and I'm afraid he might be having suicidal thoughts. He doesn't talk to me anymore. Help!
How did you manage to translate him not talking to you to him having suicidal thoughts? Perhaps he just wants to be left alone for a bit, perhaps he's got things going on in his life that don't concern you, perhaps he has developed an interest in some new activity or hobby and has less time to talk. Or perhaps he's just fed up with talking about stuff all the time.
Answer to:
What I should do if my mom wants me to come back at home ? I have 18 years old.
Yes, of course you talk to her about it. Explain (tactfully) why you will not be coming back home and that you want to live with your GF at her place. I stress the word 'talk' here. As it seems previous attempts to explain have fallen on deaf ears, this conversation should take a different style. Make it clear (without shouting or getting upset), that this is not a debate but more, a...

Why does preserving lean muscle mass keep metabolism from slowing down?
Because muscles burns more calories than fat. So the more muscle mass you have, the more calories you will burn performing any activity. The reason we tend to put on weight as we get older is because as we age, we lose muscle mass thus burning fewer calories during activity.

I wave back if anybody happens to wave at me - kid or not. I do understand what you are saying from a male point of view however. I have a friend with this attitude of 'all men are paedophiles'. As long as you fully understand that you will fail all of them if you don't study and do the work required, then do nothing at all and carry on as you are. There is no great secret to passing a test. It's simple, if you do not study for the test you will fail the test. Nobody likes doing class work and when you leave school you'll find loads of other things that nobody wants to do either. I...

Do you think it's unmanly to always say you are a victim?
Man or woman - nobody likes a victim. Victims are OK for a while - we all suffer with a bit of self pity from time to time and that is OK. The occasional moan or 'woe is me' is fine. But that is where it ends because playing the victim at every opportunity is not going to do you or anybody else, any favours. Those around you will tolerate it for a while and then shy away from your company....

My cat always follows me around and sits there and stares at me for hours when I'm on the computer. What is wrong with him?
Lacking the power of speech, your cat is attempting to contact you using only the power of thought. It is dropping a huge hint in the hope that eye contact will result in you doing what it wants you to do. Try standing up for a moment and if the cat shoots off in the direction of the kitchen it's trying to tell you to break out the kitty dinner.
