Well you can probably fit 33"x10.50" tires under there stock. But if you do a lift it wont ruin anything, you just have to be sure to get an alignment after you get the lift done. With that kind of lift you could probably fir 35"x12.50" tires.

Drum brakes: Fail. Pain in the ass to work on, don't have as much stopping power. Disc brakes: Win. SO easy to work on, cheaper parts, less gizmos, BEST stopping power.

Couple things actually, you might have weak spark (change plugs and wires). Depending on the fuel quality, you might have dirty injectors. But go ahead and change the spark plugs and see what happens. Don't forget to set the gap!

There is a lever in the glove box that unlocks the trunk. If it is broken, just have someone pull the metal cable that is supposed to be attached to it. While they do that, try to open the trunk. Pushing the trunk lid side to side as well.

That sounds like you need a valve adjustment. There are plenty of classic VW specialty shops, there is probably one where you live. Have them do a valve adjustment (which is fairly cheap), and while you are there ask to have your distributor and points checked.

Air-cooled Volkswagens are a superb choice. There was the Beetle, the Type 2 (Bus), the Type 3 Notchback (Coupe) and the Squareback (Wagon). You may also like the VW Karmann Ghia and the Porsche 914.
