I added fresh pineapple to my Jell-O just now. An hour later, while idly browsing the 'net, I found out the fruit prevents jelly from setting and I took the pineapples out, quick like. Will my Jell-O still set? If not, what can I do to counter the effect? I'm not sure you can do anything now. Jello isn't that expensive. I'd just toss it and use another one. Then if you want pineaspple with it just put some over it when you eat it.

I want to make a lasagna from scratch. Some recipes say cook the noodles first, some dont. What should I do? They do sell noodles that are oven ready. You can use uncooked only if there is LOTS of liquid in your casserole and I think you would need a lid. I make a spaghetti casserole with uncooked noodles but there is a lot of liquid stuff in it.

Any ads you find similarly amusing that don't annoy you when you see them repeatedly? For me all ads get annoying if you see them enough. But there are some that come along that are particularly irritating. That's when I hit the mute button or change the channel for a few seconds.

I've been stung in the past so I make it a habit not to loan money of any amount. I have one friend who is an exception because she has always paid me back from the very first time I loaned her a few bucks. And that works in reverse.

My Hubby & I are helping a friend of his out, he's living with us, sleeping on our couch since Aug. He smokes & chews tobacco, and leaves our Living Room REAKING when he gets up in the morning, and doesn't sleep on a sheet- is it rude to ask him to? No it sure isn't. You should have set down the so called rules right at the start. Tell him he has to smoke outside and sleep on a sheet to protect your couch. I look at it this way - my house - my rules. I got my first kitten last night, she is only 9 weeks old, we only letting her stay in the living room to get used to her suroundings. Do you put the olive oil in a cold pan or hot pan when frying pork chops You are supposed to get the pan hot before adding any oil or even butter or marg. It stops things from sticking. I have just recently tried this and it works. I used to heat the oil or whatever in the pan as it heats. Not any more.

Why didn't meatloaf cook? I prepared it the day before and it was in the frig overnight. Oven was HOT. I'd guess it just didn't cook long enough. For a pound of meat it takes 50-60 minutes. Having it in the fridge overnight shouldn't matter - I do that all the time to save time the next day and have always had them cook fine.

Can pre-cook chicken in the oven then place on a bbq to brown off? I've read it is better to parboil it and then put it on the BBQ. That way the fat comes out and you don't get the flareups from the dripping when it BBQ's.

I have a large size toaster oven so I seldom use the oven on the big stove. So I keep baking pans in it and just remove them when I need to use it and then put them all back. I have very little cupboard space in my kitchen so it works out well. I don't have a dishwasher but I'd be using that for washing dishes if I had one, not for storage.

My dog has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. To make sure she is doesn't die, I have to cook for her. Everything she gets to eat is prepared at home, and she needs to eat 3 times a day. Would you cook fresh food for your dog daily? I haven't had to do this in my lifetime but I have done stuff for my dogs and cats that most people think I was crazy for doing. Who cares. When you love them you love them and that's all there is to it. If people don't like it that's their problem.

It would depend on just how badly I needed to have that item. If it was in right now, and I didn't want to make the return trip I'd let him. My cat twitches all over and sometimes makes little noises. She is an indoor cat and although she takes an interest in birds outside she has never gotten up close and personal with one nor with catching rodents. I like vanilla icecream and plain lays chips. What weird snack combos do you like? Years ago as kids we would buy the chocolate coated ice cream bars on a stick. Then we'd bite off some of the chocolate and use potato chips to scrape up the ice cream. I loved it and have thought about it over the years but have never done it again. Because potatoes are so starchy I peel and dice them and then soak them in cold water changing the water a few times before I cook them. If the young adult is of legal age they should be able to stand on their own. If you continue to give them financial support you are enabling them to keep on acting like this. Marinated Pork Chops 1/3 C oil 1/4 C. vinegar 2 tbsp. chopped onion (I use more) 1 clove chopped garlic (or to taste) 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp. sage 1/4 tsp dry mustard 2 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce Marinate in your baking dish 1 hour at room temp or several in the fridge turning once. Bake in the marinade at 350 till done (Time depends on thickness of chops)

I made homemade scones today..they were as flat as pancakes, but tasted ok - why cant i seem to bake anything (even out of a packet) without it being a disaster? One possibility is that your baking powder is too old. Test it by putting a spoonful in a small glass or bowl and running a bit of the hottest tap water you have into it. It should fizz up like alka seltzer. The only time mine have ever failed was because of old baking powder and I have made them for years.

So...my question is....if I plant flowers there now will they grow. Some of those things just kill off the plants that are there and they lose their toxicity when they are on the ground. Does it sterilize the earth, too? Because if so then the answer is nothing will grow there. You would have to dig out the contaminated soil and replace it first.

Will everyone sign a pact with me to be extremely polite to everyone you encounter tomorrow. Smile and say hello, don't avoid eye contact and say "please and "thank you." I signed that pact years ago. So I do this all the time anyway. Too bad more people wouldn't join us on a regular basis.

I find that on the whole people are not generally good at explaining. They know all about something and seem to expect you to read between their lines. So to answer your question no, it wouldn't change my eating habits. Besides as well as not being healthy to eat that stuff a lot, it gets expensive. Is my cat sick or psychotic? He is 3 yrs. old and has suddenly become obsessed with my bedding. He pounces and attacks it as if he's chasing invisible bugs and keeps at it for long periods of time. I am by myself and I once bought a big jar of it cuz it was cheap and I had hardly used any of it and it went rancid. So now I keep it in the fridge and just fill up a small jar for daily use and keep thaton the shelf. The last big jar I'll bet I had in the fridge for a few years and it never went off.

Why do onions and garlic seep into your skin when other foods do not? I can sometimes smell it on me for a day or so after I've cooked and washed thoroughly. Try rinsing your hands in cold water to get some of it off. Then wash with soap in warm water. Rinsing first in cold water rinses it off and keeps the pores closed. Also hold some stainless steel while you wash them, that helps too.

Why is it considered to be bad practice to keep food not used from a tin/can in that tin/can in the fridge. I heard that years ago. Frankly I think it was just an old wives tale. Today I returned an item to the store where I had bought it. I jumped through all the hoops.. original package, receipt, etc. And still the clerk gave me a 'tude. Has this happened to you? How did you react? It has happened to me too and sometimes I have a hard time remaining civil but I do. Giving 'tude back just makes the situation worse. Trying to be overly super nice sometimes does the trick. If all else fails I would forget the clerk and go to the top of the chain. I love to make soups but when I make soups with milk products (cream soups) the soups lose their thickness when reheating. Why is this? What am I doing wrong? I make the soup really thick to begin with by adding only a little bit of the milk or sometimes none at all, so when it is refridgerated it is virtually solid. Then when I reheat it I can control the amount of milk I put in so you can make it as thick or thin as you want. I love thick cream soups. I like to joke you can walk across my soups and not fall in. But that's how I like them.

Why is it that when an egg has been cooked and left in its shell for a period of time before peeling, the area around the yolk goes black? I was always led to believe that it is from boiling the egg. If you start out with cold water, bring it to the boil, turn it off and leave the egg in 1/2 an hour it won't have the grayish color. I tried it a few times and it did work, but you have to turn the heat off as soon as the water boils.

I usually hold back on the liquid when I cook the vegs, and then when I puree I add the milk to get the thickness I want. I also use some of the cooking liquid for the puree part too, but not too much. Celery salt give it a nice flavor too. I hold back on the regular salt for the cooking and add the celery salt when I puree or it can get too salty.

You should be able to find something like that where you live. They often offer it at night school classes. If you can't come up with it call a restaurant. But I treat it as a land line and don't have it with me when I am not home except on rare occasions. When I go out I don't want to be bothered with calls. After the recent bridge collapse in Minnisota, are you weary of all bridges when driving over? When I was a little kid I was always scared of going over bridges. I'd always think when you got to the middle of it what if this thing collapses and I go in the water cuz I have always had a fear of deep water. I grew out of that over the years thank goodness.

Why does my dog eat sticks when taken out for a walk. She is 3 years old, fed twice a day, given the odd treat & taken for 2 good walks. We have never had this problem till now & know it is dangerous to let her continue doing this. Why is she doing it... I don't know why she does this. But we trained our dog to 'drop it' right from the start. So if she got hold of anything that could be harmful she would put it down on command. My pc won't load the question pages, so I can't answer or comment on anything, what is wrong? It has been slow for where I am for a few days now. I also noticed one of my comments to an answer that had been there a while suddenly disappeared, too. FYI Yahoo answers is OK.

Anyone here have a good recipe, not hard or time consuming for potatoes? Potatoes Romanof Boil potatoes till they are almost done. Cool and coarsely grate them. Add green onions and grated cheese. Add a good dollop or two of sour cream. Mix this with salt and pepper and put it in a casserole and top with more grated cheese and sprinkle with paprika. Bake till potatoes are finished off and everything is hot.
