Did they send you home with inhalers or a nebulizer? When I had pneumonia that was what really made the difference in my recovery. Even with that I was down for nearly a week before I went in and down for another 2 1/2 - 3 after. Don't rush your recovery the last place you want to...

I'd have to sort through my daughter's gifts and see if there were a few of them that she could share with her cousin. Then I'd add a gift card to that and tell my niece how happy I was to have her with me. Having a few less gifts won't impact your daughter negatively...

It's not ideal but if that is the only quiet place you can put her it beats her placing the kittens in a dangerous place. Maybe a dog gate instead of the door closed would allow her to get out to use the litter box but discourage her from bringing the kittens with her.
