Can Atheists prove with concrete evidence that there is no God?
Actually I can prove it just as concretely as a theist can prove there is a god.
A believer's faith is based on something in his life or a historical document or belief passed down. This led him to the conclusion there was a god.
I will exercise the same privilege and choose something from my life, that to me, proves beyond a shadow of a doubt there is no god.

For the very first time in my life, i have pneumonia. i thought the flu was bad, but nothing like this. fever, chills, sweating, coughing my a__ off. doc says to take meds and wait it out. how soon before i feel better? its Christmas and i gotta go.
Did they send you home with inhalers or a nebulizer?
When I had pneumonia that was what really made the difference in my recovery. Even with that I was down for nearly a week before I went in and down for another 2 1/2 - 3 after.
Don't rush your recovery the last place you want to wind up is the hospital with all it's germs.

I'd have to sort through my daughter's gifts and see if there were a few of them that she could share with her cousin. Then I'd add a gift card to that and tell my niece how happy I was to have her with me.
Having a few less gifts won't impact your daughter negatively and having a show of caring sounds really important to your niece right now.

It's not ideal but if that is the only quiet place you can put her it beats her placing the kittens in a dangerous place.

Girls can be vicious to each other and it isn't until later than we learn to not allow that to affect how we act.
Your best bet is to allow her to keep her liking of you seperate of her friends until she is more...

If your mother is unwilling to confront the issue there is little you can do beyond telling your father you won't be a silent witness to anymore abuse.
Sad as it is, you can't make them change. So if it's something your father chooses to do and something your mother chooses to tolerate there is only one person left to make their choice. You. And the choice is do you stay or...

Easily.
It's not even that shocking if you realize that cheating isn't necessarily about boredom or anything else happening within the marriage but rather about issues the person who cheats has...
So, given the right (or wrong)personal issues, cheating at any point during marriage isn't shocking.

If I want to tell someone to put it where the sun don't shine, I do.

I don't believe that loving nurture "fixes" a broken person but it can allow them the safety and space to fix themselves.

This was as a result of flood insurance being voluntary and many people choosing not to have coverage and losing all and the banks losing their equity.

Do you wear panties with pantyhose?
Absolutely and here is why:
It is very easy to use the restroom and to accidently get the hem of your skirt stuck in the waistband of nylons and not know it.
Wearing underpants halves your mortification when you walk out of the ladies room with your butt hanging out.

During an argument I think the first one that stops arguing makes the other one look a little silly. What do you think?
Not necessarily.
Some people rely on a hasty retreat when they have exhausted all other resources at their disposal.
I don't particularly think it makes "them" look silly but I do think it makes their argument look weak.
Personally I think the first person to resort to name calling is the one who looks silliest.

Should men have the choice to terminate their parental rights and responsibilities prior to week 24?
No.
The difference between a woman having the choice to terminate is that there won't be a baby born into the world when she chooses *termination*. Not so for the man.
A man who simply terminates his responsibilities does not eliminate a child for which *somebody* will have to be responsible.
It just passes the buck on to the rest of us.

As a woman, do you prefer a man who is not afraid to cry, or a man who never cries except for serious issues?
I don't want them to be afraid to cry and it doesn't have to be very serious before I can accept tears.
However, I do have my limits and this character shows you where that limit would be :)

Let me ask you this.
When he is flirting to make you jealous and saying harsh things to you do all his "great" qualities keep you from feeling hurt?
Probably not.
And that being the case you can't ignore the lows and should look for someone doesn't stoop that low.

My grandmother purchased a car for my sister who was not on the title. When she died, my sister continued for past 11 months continued to pay the car note. Then car loan company still repossed car stating my she did not have contract but accepted payments
The payments were current and they repossessed it?
That's not legal.
Even if your grandmother is deceased they have no automatic right to the car.
Her estate would determine the fate of the vehicle.
Now if the payments were late they would have a leg to stand on.
I suggest you speak to a lawyer about this.

What does it mean when a guy (new online date) rarely emails - once every month or two, asking what I've been up to, and doesn't respond to some of my emails, waiting for another month to reply? Is he interested? What is the hold up?
It's called "keeping you on tap".
He throws you an attention bone every once in awhile to ensure that you will be there when he calls you next month or the next month after that or whenever.
The hold up is that the guy isn't done shopping around yet and in my book that means he's not interested.

If you bribe someone not to say something, then they say it, can you sue them for some sort of breach of contract or something? (this is hypothetical, I'm not looking to sue anyone)
Since the word "bribe" implies something not aboveboard, I don't think you will want to call the law in on it. It would be like the drug dealer who calls 911 when he is mugged and his stash is boosted.
"Compensation" is the term that the corporate crooks use for their "bribes" and if you violate the terms of that agreement to compensate you could be and...

I'm lying in bed trying to sleep, and all I can feel is my heart pumping. I measured the rate at which it is going and got 90bpm. Is this abnormal?
It varies, but as a resting rate that's a bit fast.
Of course the more you think about that, the faster it will go due to the anxiety.
It may be best to get up and do something that will take your mind off your heart.
Did you have lots of caffeine or smoke today?
Both of those will rev up the heart.

New ones or used ones.

Why do some people need name brands and designer labels to feel worthwhile? Doesn't this scream "Self Esteem Problem"?
Not necessarily.
Some people don't need them to feel worthwhile, some people want them to feel superior.
In that case, it's more an ego problem than a self-esteem issue.
Either way, they are clowing themselves and making some yo-yo designer rich.

At this moment, how do you think Obama is doing as The President?
Not as well as I had hoped, but of course I would love an instant solution to the many problems caused by the many years of greed and corruption.
All in all I think he is doing fairly well, but I would like to see him get a little more decisive and a little less apologetic.
He's gonna have to piss off some people if he wants anything to change.

If you want to be left alone, totally alone, you tell them what you wrote in your question.

I haven't worked for a few years due to anxiety/depression. I now have a choice to start a job which is well-paid and interesting -but requires a long commute each day, or an okay part-time one which is close to home. Please help! I've no idea what to do!
Finding an okay part-time job closer to home if you should feel the need later will be much easier than finding a well-paying interesting job later. They are a bit scarce right now.
Worrying too much about anxiety rearing it's ugly head can be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I feel like they are just a part of life when there is more than one person involved.

Most of the time.
But then again, I'm pretty selective about what I will spend my time on.
Answer to:
What tries your patience more: Slow elevators? Traffic jams? Slow food service? Promotion sales lines?
I'd go with traffic jams, mainly because you are trapped once you are stuck in one.
Slow elevators- take the stairs
Slow food service - leave and eat somewhere else.
Sales - avoid them entirely.

Someone else to make you happy. That's your job.
Answer to:
Having something to look forward to sure changes one's tolerance for aggravation, doesn't it? You encounter roadblocks, you handle them because you know "next week this time I'll be on vacation" or whatever it is to which you look forward. True for you?
Absolutely!
For example if I know at the end of that horrendously long hold time I am going to be finally able to lodge my complaint I can wait for a long, long time.
And my favorite version of this is when you have only a few weeks left at your old job. Suddenly NOTHING can ruffle your feathers!

Answer to:
Is patience really a virtue? Or is the patient one just using poor judgment, or maybe is a sucker? Is patience always the right choice?
It's just like anything else the value lies in using it wisely.
Patience for the wrong reasons (ie: reluctance to make a decision or to speak up for yourself) is as bad as or worse than raging impatience.
Patience isn't always ultimately the right choice but it is a good place to start.
You can always go raging into impatience later if need be.

Answer to:
What is your definition of patience?
The ability to focus on whatever is happening right now .
If you are waiting in line, you are waiting in line.
Not jonesing about the humongous to do list burning a hole in your brain.
Answer to:
Why are people not as patient these days?
They don't have to be as patient in general and can still survive.
If survivial was still tied to patience, there would be a lot more of it.
For example, If we all had to milk the cow, gather the eggs and mill the flour instead of popping into Dunkin Donuts we'd all be a bit more patient.

Probably because at this point it would feel like the kind of unhealthy love that leads people to stay with their abusers. Needy and clinging.

Why does the immune system regect organ transplants but not surgical implants e.g replacement knee?
The body can, and sometimes does reject artificial implants. For example, it is listed as a complication for knee replacement surgery.
The reason why the organ transplant runs a higher risk is because the donor organ isn't a neutral material.
The "replacement" organ comes with it's own immune system and DNA code that no matter how well matched, isn't identical...

Why are some people happy for other people and happy all the time?
Meds, really good meds. That's what it takes for it to be "all" the time.
Otherwise there will be a moment ,however brief, where this falters.
Perfectly normal, if you aren't medicated to the gills.
Answer to:
Why do you think people prefer to go after things that they think will give them happiness? Why do they try to avoid things that might cause discomfort or cause sadness?
Happiness = feels good. Who wouldn't want that?
People avoid discomfort/sadness because they think it will keep happiness from them.
Sometimes though, pain/sadness are the hurdle you have to jump to reach real happiness.
The happiness that comes from facing both discomfort and sadness and accepting them as being just as natural as happiness and all part of the same pie.

You know the feeling when you wake up & you feel everything is going to go your way, you feel on top of the world glad to be alive. How often does anyone experience this wonderful rush?
I know the feeling.
It doesn't happen so often that I take it for granted.
Nor so seldom that I give it up for dead :)
Answer to:
What kind of happy are you?
I'm the "tough luck to anybody attempting to piss on my parade" kind of happy.
Answer to:
Should we work hard and play hard?
Yes, and then we should also spend some quiet time doing neither.
Answer to:
How do you obtain happiness?
By not trying to capture happiness and own it.
Instead allow it to alight on your shoulder like a free-flying butterfly.
And like you do an unexpected visit from a beautiful butterfly you should:
Enjoy it while it lasts.
Don't worry about when it will depart.
And don't smash it by trying to hold onto it always.
Answer to:
Has anyone here laughed so hard you cried? What was so funny?
Last night...and it was over something I can't even remember that was likely not all that funny.
It may have been the pot.
Answer to:
Did you ever wake up incredibly happy for no reason? Why do you think that happens?
I do.
I think it happens to give me something to look forward to on the days when I have to drag myself out of bed. You know, a living example of "this too shall pass".

She is probably convinced you are a liar because every time she asks your ex about it he says "oh forget that, she's lying she just wants to break us up".
Otherwise she would have believed you long ago. It's her faith in his honesty that is keeping her from believing you. Ironic, don't you think?

Legally she would have a very hard time getting the cat back.

PLEASE HELP! my daughters ex bf was very manipulative controlling verbaly abusive. faked a motorcycle accident to see how she acted. said she was so selfish and cried yelled when she went with friends. read texts etc. how do i get her selfesteem back?
It's called self esteem because the only one who can give it to her, is herself. She is also the only one who can give it away.

Short of counseling she might want to read up on the subject of narcissism.

Answer to:
Why do you think the American Moslim soldier turned his gun onto his comrades?
Based on what I have read this is what I think.
1. He found himself not believing in the war, even though he was very proud to serve.
2. He was refused a discharge when he expressed this deep conflict.
3. He was due to be shipped out within weeks.
4. He snapped and lost his mind.
The big mystery is why it doesn't happen more often.

Spiritually speaking-are atheists aware of what they are missing-Love of the Lord?
Oh yes we are aware that we are, supposedly, "missing love of the lord".
And as far as I can tell the only difference it makes is that instead of doing the wrong thing and expecting "god" to make it right, we go ahead and do the right thing to begin with *and* of our own volition.
See, we live in the world without an almighty safety net.
Try it sometime. Very freeing.

Several months ago, a Muslim husband in upper NY state BEHEADED his wife at the TV station they owned. It was reported ONCE in the media and there has never been another mention of it. I saw the report. Have you seen any coverage of it at all?
I saw some coverage of it via Yahoo mail/news.
The most ironic part of the story was that they had created their own TV station to help dispel the stereotypes about their beliefs/religion.
I'd say, off the top of my head, that the stereotypical shoe fit hubby.

It took me awhile to figure out that it wasn't a 'jacking of comment priviledges by some totally unrelated person :)

Does anybody have experience with the products for relieving an itch inside a cast? I've found "castscratcher," "cast cooler," and "cast comfort spray." MD told us not to stick anything in the cast to scratch it. A blowdryer barely gets air in the cast.
Taking Benadryl will help with the itching.
You could take the cardboard insert from a roll of paper towels, collaspe the one end as far as you need to to get it slightly into the cast. Then butt the blowdryer up to the other end of the cardboard tube.
ONLY on the cool/air setting so you don't have burns on top of breaks.

Likely it means he isn't unattached. And while he was able to conduct on online relationship with you on the sly, he isn't going to be able to do that in person. So he is going to avoid you.
Chances are also good that when you are "safely" out of his area he will strike it back up with some extraordinary excuses as to why he didn't meet up with you while you were in...

So we should all celebrate the holidays in only the way that you, a catholic, find acceptable?
Fine, we'll give you that day...and you have to give us all the other of the 300ish days that are religious non-events to celebrate the way we see fit with no regard for your beliefs.

Babies are born with no beliefs at all. Atheism is the belief that there is no God. So, why do [some] atheists claim that everyone is born an atheist?
Atheism can be either the rejection of theism,[1] or the position that deities do not exist.[2] In the broadest sense, it is the absence of belief in the existence of deities.[3]
In that broadest sense of the word "absence of belief in the existence of deities" everyone is born an atheist.

Do you know that some of the Ab users are shame and shy to answer some of the question even they are behind the curtain and wearing mask?
It isn't necessarily "shame" or "shyness" that keeps people from answering certain questions.
For example: Bestiality. I know what it is, and could answer intelligently in that regard.
However, it and it's practitioners make me throw up a little in my mouth so I mostly give it a pass.

I think it's fair.
They didn't revoke it "just" because they were messing with a laptop. They revoked it because:
Laptops in the cockpit are against the rules.
Because they were so distracted that they overflew the airport by 100 miles.
Because they "ignored" the radio transmissions trying to warn them.

Why is it that most women between 35-43 can't look like Courtney Cox? Maybe if they did they would not catch thier man out dipping his wick in a honey pot that wasn't their's
Yeah, that'll fix it! Wrong.
There have been some stunningly beautiful women cheated on by their spouses. And the people their spouses cheated with were far less attractive.
It isn't about the looks of the women being cheated on. It's about how the cheater thinks HE looks as reflected in the eyes of his lover.

Answer to:
Do you personally know of any relationship where one person has cheated that survived in the long run?
A couple of them.
One of them survives because it is such a dysfunctional relationship that the cheating is really the least of their problems. They made their enabling and co-dependence sacred and it worked for them.
The other survived because the relationship was *that* good ,in that the love they held for each other was greater than any other consideration, in the final analysis.

This guy in my class always calls me cuty and sweety but put me in embarassing situations and makes everyone laugh at me, and then just ignore me as if nothing happens, why is he doing that to me??? why does he find me so funny?
Cutie and Sweetie can be used as a biting remark (it's called condescension) in the hands of a butthole.
And this guy sounds like one.
Rule of thumb, if they are hurting you or your feelings it isn't "love or even like" that is motivating them.

Coming up with that "why" is the job of each individual.
For me, I care and try because it is just my inherent nature. Even when I try not to give a sh*t, there is a tiny part of me watching and caring about the outcome.

Contrary as it seems to everything we had thought, cancers can disappear on their own. So people who are dedicated to early prevention may have unnecessary/dangerous surgeries and treatment. What are your thoughts?
I think the highly accurate "prescreening" testing is revealing cancers that were always going to be self-limiting or so slow growing that a lifetime could have passed before the cancer blossomed into a threat to life. But because we now *know* the cancer is there we get all aggressive with treatment.
Sometimes being proactive can slip over the edge into promotion.

I'm thinking of upgrading my cheap Ikea wok. I have an electric range (yuck) should I get a round bottom wok and an adapter or go with the flat bottom variety?
I use a flat bottom wok on my glass cook top.
When you aren't using a gas range the distance created by the ring between the burner and the wok is just too great to really get a hot wok.
I also recommend getting a carbon steel wok and working to season it properly. It is far superior to a Teflon coated wok.
Once you have seasoned your wok, never, ever use dish soap on it. Only...

How can one think positively at all times?
At all times means that when faced with the tragic news that a loved one is terminally ill you would have to feel positive even at the instant that your heart skips and you can't breathe. Personally, I don't think that is possible.
You may eventually come to a place of seeing the positive in a situation as horrible as that (and there are positives to be found). But to actually...

My 6 yr old just went number 2 and we saw some red in it, could it be serious? why is there blood in her stool? what can i do about it?
It's probably just an anal fissure (tear). Bright red blood isn't usually indicative of anything bad, that would be tarry black stool.
What you can do is have her wipe again gently and if you see streaks of blood on the tissue she probably got constipated and the hard poop caused a rip.
You treat this by treating the constipation with stool softening foods/juices or in bad...

It's a reason for an issue if the 32 year old woman's relationship partner doesn't like it. This doesn't mean it is inherently wrong or bad. Just that it's something one half of the couple isn't liking.
Now it's up to each partner to decide if it's a reason to break up.
