You would be doing them a disservice by making the obligatory visits while visibly uncomfortable because they would then be made to feel like they need to take care of you. Write letters.

His mother bought most of them for her which is why she's involved. I know if I had a yard sale and his daughter could use the clothes I would have automatically given them to her. We have only dated for 2 months -
