When I was growing up, we had to respond to ALL questions my parents asked us with a "YES, SIR!"/"NO, SIR!" . . . . . .or. . . . . "YES, MA'AM"/"NO MA'AM!"! And if you DIDN'T, you'd, pretty much, get your hair yanked or butt spanked! How about YOURSELF? No, I didn't have that kind of discipline. I've always been really respectful to people outside of my family, but my parents never enforced any kind of rule beyond "no hitting" and "no swearing."
