I had some photos of old girlfriends on my computer. they have been there forever, my live in girlfriend came across the old photos and freaked and said i needed to delete all of them. should a person delete old photos?
As long as they are not inappropriate photos you should keep them. They are part of your past which has formed you into the person you are today. She should be glad that her own photo is not included in this group of "old girlfriends" - it says that she is a special part of your life today.

What is tofu? does it taste good?
I made fun of tofu for years. I tried it (just plain - since I didn't know what to do with it) and it tasted like a dirty sponge - and the consistency was weird too. And they say that it takes on the flavor of whatever it is served with - so I didn't trust it because it had no identity of its own. It seemed too sneaky for me. But ten years later I had to go on a strict diet - high...

We just got invited to a wedding where you have to pay $100 a head to attend. They want the check with the RSVP. Do we still get them a gift, cash or otherwise? Truthfully I`ve never heard of this before.
I would not attend and send them a cash gift for less than the $100. If they cannot afford to pay for the wedding, they should have a simpler affair and not expect guests to pay for it in this way. Or they should have stated that folks should not be giving wedding gifts in addition to this attendance fee.

For Michael Jackson doubters. Have you changed your mind since hearing seeing all the heartfelt tributes from many well known people around the world who knew him personally or do you still believe the worse about him. Surely so many couldn't be wrong?
It did. I never understood him and questioned many of the things that he did. Now I view him as unconventional and simply misunderstood in many ways. I always respected him as a uniquely talented person but now respect him on a personal level as well, even though I do not agree with some things he did and said.

My Rx is not strong so I went without anything for years, except for driving. Now that there are great styles and progressive lenses, I have been quite satisfied with wearing glasses most of the time.

Should we believe in all beings unsupported by evidence? If you are Christian and believe in God, then shouldn't you also believe in other things that there is no evidence of? If you believe in one, and not another isn't that discriminatory?
The Christian believes that there is evidence of God's existence in creation and in the lives of his people. I believe this as a Christian, but also believe in other things for which there is no tangible evidence. So I believe in both.

What I will never understand is how people announce to the press, after their daughter/husband/sister has been murdered, that they forgive the murderer. How can you forgive someone who did such a heinous act?
It is part of the healing process - not to forgive only prolongs the agony. At the point that some say that they "forgive" it might not be the reality, but verbalizing it, especially in a public way, often helps them on the way to true forgiveness. Believe me, it does make a big difference to many of these people.

Yes - I'd say that dinner + movie would be a date; it is one of the "classic" definitions of a date. And even if it were not, it would be interpreted as such by most folks, including your boyfriend, so why risk it - that is, if you want to keep your boyfriend.

The same thing happened to me. I lost 60 pounds in 4 months, and noticed sagging especially in my face. This was devastating because it could not be hidden under clothing. Do a search for "facial exercises" or "face yoga" - especially on Youtube. There are exercises that can tone and help rebuild loss of muscle in the face. If we assume that God is all-knowing as I was taught as a child wouldn't that mean when God created Man He knew we were just going to screw things up?
Yes - God knew in advance that man would fail because he exercised he God-given free will for evil rather than for good. But most religious traditions also teach that God also made a provision for man to become reconciled to God. For example, in Judaism - Torah; in Christianity - Christ. So even from the beginning God was hoping for a happy outcome.

Before you were a christian what were your beliefs or are you christian your whole life?were you baptized as a baby?
I was baptized as an infant because that was the tradition of my parents. As a teenager I made my own decision to follow Christ and was baptized as a public profession of my faith. I suppose that this personal decision is somehow implicit in the former tradition, but I missed the point I guess, and so it was important for me to do this explicitly and so to be "rebaptized."

That's like saying that man cannot write anything that is true. We know that it is possible.

Notre Dame is a sectarian school (Roman Catholic) and should adhere to their teachings. I do not think that this generalization is fair. There are some girls and guys who talk too much, and many of them have nothing really meaningful to say. How can we prevent animals testing?
You cannot stop all testing because some things (like medications) have to be tried on animals before they are given to humans. I do not agree with testing cosmetics and other non-life sustaining products on animals, though. Since these are optional products, folks that want them should pay the higher price of more sophisticated testing that would not involve animals.

I was, we all were. I went to Catholic school back in the day when all the teachers were nuns and they wore the full habit. In those days physical punishment was the norm - so we were all scared to death most of the time.

I don't only because of the distance. I have moved around so much and everyone, living and deceased, is so spread out geographically. But I do think of them all often and revisit the past with fond memories.

What is the randomest thing you own
I bought an orange t-shirt that was made out of fabulous cotton. It was a designer shirt, so of course I overpaid for it. I have never worn orange in my life, and so have never worn this shirt. What was I ever thinking? Not an expensive blunder but it taught me a valuable lesson - now I shop to coordinate my things - this gives a better chance of actually wearing them.

It is a time to give thanks for the harvest. Most cultures have such a feast (Sept)- ours is just a little later in the year (Nov). I am surprised that Britain does not have a similar feast of some sort. We in the US have just expanded it to give thanks for everything.

I am an American living in Canada on a temporary visa. On the one hand, I find them very welcoming and accepting of other cultures. Everyone from all ethic backgrounds would feel welcome here.

How do i Lose 10 Pounds in 10 Days?
That sounds nearly impossible - unless most of it is water weight, which is not likely. To lose a pound you need to burn 3500 calories more than you eat. So to lose a pound a day for 10 days, for example, and it is not water weight, you would need to eat nothing and burn 3500 calories. I cannot fathom exercising that rigorously for 10 days without eating anything. All the best to you.

If the relationships all around are all new - harder; there is so much to learn about everyone that the more vocal folks tend to dominate the discussion and others can feel left out or awkward. If they all around are old - easier; there is common ground and familiarity and...

If the church requires a 'donation' of $75 dollars do you have to donate all of it if you cant?
This sounds more like a membership fee - in which case it is not a church and should not be enjoying the benefits of one, such as tax-free status.
Plus this misses the point of giving - it should be an "offering" that represents in a tangible way the offering of oneself to God. That might sound corny to some folks, but that is biblical and that is how the church should be...

Make a list of the good things in your life and read it everyday - at the beginning of the day. It might seem trivial but we all need to remind ourselves of the good things because the bad things can be overwhelming at times. This has worked for me - in fact, my list kept growing as more things came to mind over time.

My son is 6 and he said a curse word in School and then told two very elaborate lies about it without flinching!!! What am I supposed to do about it? Help?
I'd be more concerned about the lying. A six year old probably doesn't know the meaning of curse words, but uses them to get a response. But the lying is something that he should know by now is wrong and so he should be punished for with whatever means you use in your family. In my view, a six year old should be spanked and deprived of something they enjoy.

Why is Mary so revered in Catholicism when surely that attention should be for Jesus - the one who actually saved us?
Jesus is the focus of Catholicism, and Mary is honored as his mother, yes, but also because she was the ideal of a disciple - one who gave God an unconditional yes; she submitted to his will without reservation when she said "let it be unto me according to your word" when the angel announced to her that she would bear the Son of God (Luke 1).

Yes I do - and I know it is because I am a detail-oriented person. As a result, I focus on details, trying to get them exactly right, which is an asset in some cases. But that means that in other cases I am at risk of missing the main point or bigger picture - that is, the point of a question or project. This is a challenge for me and something that I am working on.

It depends on how many hours in the day you are working. After X hours you are entitled to a Y minute break - regardless of how many total hours in the week you work. Employers can be more generous but have to give the minimum required by law. I think that the regs vary from state to state - I lived in a state where for every four hours you worked, you were entitled to a 10 minute break.

No - most folks did not know what was being said or done, and some just said the rosary while the priest went through the ritual on the altar. He could do that without the people present. The fact that she says that she is "thinking of you" does not mean that she believes she made a mistake and wants to get back together. I think you should take her at her word ("I'm over it") and get on with your life.

You may be "clean" but still covered with bacteria that will fester in the damp towel - which becomes very obvious by the repulsive smell. Drying the towel out will help somewhat but will not kill the bacteria, it just hampers and so delays their growth.

Sometimes, because the pork adds a nice flavor to the sauce, but I hate the grease that seems to go along with it. And then I discovered that using pork loin strips adds an even nicer pork flavor without the grease and grizzle that sausages have. As the sauce simimers the pork starts to fall apart and become really tender too.

You will be attracted to lots of girls until you find the one that you will love in a mature way. Do an outstanding job and you will be recognized as a valued employee. It is hard for a mediocre performer to be visible unless they draw attention to themselves, but this is often short-lived.

Answer to:
You wish someone a "good morning." They don't answer you. What do you do?
I don't take it personally. They are probably unhappy or troubled about something, so I try to give them a look that is kind and pleasant and not obnoxiously happy. You have no idea what some folks may be dealing with and don't need to be mocked.

Does the color of a solution distort the results when measuring its pH using litmus paper (alkacid type - using a color chart). E.g., does a yellow solution dye the paper yellow so that a proper reading is impossible?
I asked someone who works in a lab but is not a chemist. They believe that the litmus paper is treated so that it does not absorb the color of a solution. Can anyone confirm or dispute this response?

Answer to:
How fast can a person lose weight?
I lost 60 pounds in 5 months - and have kept it for nine months so far. I did it by taking in enough protein so that I do not loose muscle mass and lost fat instead. I restricted my intake of carbohydrates as well but did not overdo this. That plus exercising 5 days a week for 30 minutes each session worked for me.

Answer to:
Are cheaper can openers better than more expensive ones?
It depends on how cheap. I had one from a Dollar Store that was useless and so I tossed it away in favor of my mid-priced one, which works just as good as a high-end one.
