Answer to:
How to make radio transmittrers?
You want simple? Let's say you were stranded in a car, and there was no one around from whom to get help. What could you do without a cell phone or other manufactured transmitter? Well, in the old days, you could take the spark coil out of your Old Ford (or whatever), connect your battery to the ends with wires, one of which is broken in the middle, then take a bit of wire on one end of...

Do you agree or disagree with the theory of global warming?
I see bits and pieces of the problem in the answers of others here. I'd say yes...global warming is going on. And, yes, we are, in some way, contributing to it. Whether our contribution is greatly significant or not may still be debateable. If we hastened it by 50 years, that would be small in some sense, but a generation of people that would suffer...does that count?
But there is...

Do you find it easy to forgive?
Only when I think about what I've done.
Answer to:
If God showed up at your door..what would you do?
I'd invite him in, offer him a meal, something to drink, and some rest. He said that was a good thing to do. I'd visit Him in prison, clothe Him, and hopefully, go beyond simply telling Him I'd pray for Him.

If you could tell me to read any book of the bible...what would it be and why?
I thought about this for a while, and I think I'd like you to read Romans. Paul discusses some of the most pressing issues in such a timeless way. The Pauline epistles are really gems for finding answers to difficult questions.

Answer to:
Do you sing in a choir?
Yes, I do sing in a choir. Yes it's in a church, and I enjoy backing up other singers. I sang as a songleader for many years, but I've found, that a whole new world opens up when you back off just a bit, and make someone else sound as good as they possibly can. The singing isn't for praise or recognition. It is for those who have been moved by an honest cooperative effort by...
Answer to:
Are there songs composed by very well-known singers that are sung about people who THEY know that aren't known to many other people at all? (in other words, songs made by famous singers about common, inconsequential people they know?)
Songs written are stories told. Most songs that mean anything or amount to anything are written out of our own experience in the world, and that includes our interface with others. I'm sure this is no different with good singers/songwriters as well. The one who lives on an island by him or herself doesn't have very much meaningful to say, or so it seems to me. But NOBODY is...

What makes a man a man?
A real man is so confident in his manliness that he has room to be macho, and also to notice and care what goes on around him and do what he can to help, without worrying what it will look like. He's just as comfortable providing the means for a family as he is with doing the dishes or changing a diaper when that's whats needed. Looks don't make a man, clothes don't make...

Why does my cat go crazy when i open her a can of wet food? i give her dry food and fresh water every day but she acts like I don't feed her. What is wrong?
Yes, it is normal for cats to react that way. You see, the canned or wet food contains fats and nutrients that are not only more easily absorbed by the animal, it also tastes much better to them. I have three of the rascals, and they all go nuts for the Little Friskies or Fancy feast I give them once a day. Take heart. I need to buy cat food by the 24-pack per week just to give them a...

If I've been using my laptop for a few hours, then turn it off, then turn it back on again, it often "freezes" with a black screen before XP even boots. And I can't get it to turn on again until it "cools down" a little. Is t
Obviously, you have a heat-related problem, and the gizmo that is supposed to take care of that is the fan system in your laptop. You might have someone qualified check the fan(s) to see if they are running too slow...that sometimes happens with older laptops.
Good luck!

On a break, my boyfriend spent four nights with a girl. We then got back together and resolved my committment issues, but I am having trouble getting over the thougt of him touching someone else and it's causing problems. Is there any hope for us?
I wish things were more hopefull, but I think that as important as trust is in relationships that really last, you must search yourself to find out if you can ever give him that trust again. If you cannot, then you need to break off the relationship, and seek someone who isn't driven 'from pillar to post,' by the least tempation. Seek something that will last.

Answer to:
What is the name for the body of laws that governs the Catholic church?
There is not one answer to that question. There are several. Yes, the Bible is one of the guiding priciples of the Church, but the oral tradition, passed on by the early church fathers is another. You see, long before any Christian scripture was ever written, the truths that the apostles were taught at the feet of Jesus were passed on from teacher through learner to the time they were first...

Why are Halloween colors orange and black?
The meaning of the association of using orange and black with Halloween goes back to the Druids.
"The traditional colors of Halloween reflect its Celtic origin. Orange is the color of the autumn harvest, black the symbol of death."

Is there a way to get rid of stretch marks?
Here is a home cure, straight from the rain forests in the Palauan Islands. I watched this, and know it works...for those jungle ladies, anyway. They make a paste of turmuric (common spice) and water, and then rub it on the stretch marks. After about a week, the marks seem to disappear. Who knows? It may work for you as well.
Good Luck!

Answer to:
A couple of years ago I was told that most Asian people are offended when they're referred to as being "Oriental" and that the term "Oriental" should refer to only things like food, furniture, etc. Why?
This could probably be understood in several ways. There are many people who don't like to be lumped into a group, since this implies that "they are all the same." When it comes to inanimate objects, as in the subject of food and furniture, the label gets "unloaded" of its human element, and is less likelly to be seen as an unappropriate generalization. This sort of...

Why are boys so mean to the girls they like?
This behaviour is pretty standard with younger boys. There is an old song that insists that "You always hurt the one you love," and this is often carried, with some into later years. It is probably a mechanism for them to get your attention, however mal productive that might be. If you would like to have him as a friend, you might try the straightforward approach, and tell him that...

How can I read and edit a DLL file?
Do you have the source code??? If not, such editing is not for the faint of heart. If you do have the source code and a copy of the development environment the DLL was written in (Delphi, Watcom C, or whatever), AND you know what you are doing, you would 1. make your changes, 2. Compile and link if necessary, then 3. check for satisfying whatever dependencies there are. After that, 4. you...

What are a few good introductory books on electronics?
The Amatuer Radio Relay League (ARRL), publishes a dandy book that covers electronic theory, and is available from them. They have a web site.
Answer to:
Are any consumer electronic items likely to cause health hazards?
Anything that generates x rays or high energy rf can cause injury, death, or cancer from long-term exposure. That old microwave in your kitchen, or the old TV in the spare room should be respected, since they both produce more x rays than most of the newer stuff. And I suppose it goes without saying, that you should never open up a device that plugs into your AC outlets...that can...
Answer to:
How can I learn about building electronics free?
I agree with the previous answer. The other obvious resource in the US is the ARRL, in Newington CT. You can find them on line. If the site itself doesn't have a course, they have links that could lead you to some help.
Answer to:
What are some names of stores that you can purchase solar panels etc.?
You might want to surf the net to find one. One candidate that I can think of is Edmund Scientific. Another would be Hosfelt Electronics. There are also numerous sites that specialize in that sort of thing. Do a Google search as follows: ["solar panels" +price] and you might want to Froogle and do the same search, that way, you will get prices as well as stores, in a sortable...
Answer to:
Where can I find instructions to build a device that can block electric/radio transmissions?
If you are trying to block radio interference from some sort of receiver or amplifier, you could try the easy solution of buying a torroidal transformer (made of ferrous material) which is usually in the shape of a donut or a snap-closed assembly. All you need to do is to wrap the power cord several loops around the donut or a square leg of the other. You may find these at Radio Shack, or...
Answer to:
Where does the energy from a generator go when nothing is plugged into it?
With a no-load condition that you describe, the only energy consumed will be in operation of the generator, and an output transformer, if one is connected, and that will show up as heat energy, due to eddy currents and hysteresis loss which both generate heat. The only other loss is the natural resistance of the wire which will cause a small IR drop.
Answer to:
My lights keep flashing but the bulbs are new. My friends think my room is haunted. What could it be?
Although it is rare, you may find that you have a bad ground. Check the ground rod outside the building. The 220vac line becomes unbalanced, and the voltage available at the outlets swings somewhat with the changing load conditions. Ask an electrician to check that for you.
