How long did it take Human's to Domesticate Dogs?
I imagine it was a fairly short process, involving a collaboration for shelter, protection, food and warmth. Each gave the other something wanted, and saw the benefit of staying close. It may not have been Pet me Pet me at first, but I bet the touch of a human hand was the last thing needed to establish the bond between man and dog. Each species felt enough similarities in the other to be...

Answer to:
Why is it the older humans get the more they think about the future when they have less of it?
because the older we get, the more certain we are of what it is we want in life. So now that we have a firm(er) goal, we think about the future in terms of how to attain our goal.

what is the benefit of using a multiple bus architecture compared to a single bus architecture
Multi bus architecture allows more processes to run concurrently. Single bus architecture processes one command serially across the single bus, where a multiple bus can retrieve data from one memory data/addr bus while writing to another data/addr. and while this is being done, data retrived in the previous cycle can be manipulated to the I/O bus or other bus as well.

why is poop brown and why is it called poop?
1) Take your paint set and mix the colors.
You will find that the more colors you add the "browner" the mixture gets. Brown seems to be the sum of all colors, and the only effect you can have on Brown is to make it light or dark.
2) I have no idea why we call it poop.

Why my new bathroom mixer valve have very low water flow?
because of the slow water flow, it doesn't keep the pump running constantly!
check to see that the screens on the inlet fittings are clean. grit can build up on the screens and slowly choke off the water. the screens are needed to prevent the valve assembly from damage by contaminants. Take the mixer off and check the screens. if it is not easy to do so, then here is your chance to improve the plumbing because you definitely need to do periodic cleaning especially with...

Waste of time; most people think it has been castrated already.....
Answer to:
Do you think we should at least give the new AB design a chance, since it is so new?
There is definitely a lot of tweaking left to do; hopefully it can be done before there is a mass exodus. I for one will stay for some time yet; as my purpose here was mostly to answer good questions, and have fun doing it. For now it seems that I will have to content myself with helping people by answering questions as I have done beofre, and wait for the quality of the site to improve again....

If you run in SAFE mode quickly, you might need to find a driver or other program conflict. If the drive was formatted, it might not be the optimum layout for performance. Might have to reformat if there was a format error unreported.
Use task manager to see whats going on, you might find a process or memory problem.

Mechanics help me out here, my car shakes violently when I hit 35 mph. I know this sounds like a tansmission problem but it does not happen at all in cold weather. Is there some kind of sensor that could be malfunctioning to cause this?
Is your suspension in good condition? Worn shocks can cause vibrations, as well as universal joints in the drive line, if they are sloppy they can vibrate too. If the joints are poorly lubricated they might 'freeze' in cold weather and not vibrate as much, but I cannot imagine a vibration that stops because it gets cold. Check the entire drive line with all the suspension components...

1998 chevy s-10 4.3liter not turning on starts running for a little bit after adding fuel to carb
For TBI or throttle body injection you need to check the injector(s) are being turned on. They may be plugged by varnish if this is a long time since running.
Whatever you do, you need to check the fuel path and find the plug.
Answer to:
1998 chevy s-10 4.3liter not turning on starts running for a little bit after adding fuel to carb
if this is a real "carb" then either the jets are plugged or the filter is plugged. There is a chamber that has a float and valve in it, if the "carb" is dirty or not used for a long time there may be varnish deposits sealing the openings. A good cleaning seems to be needed here.

Bob owned 8/9 of a family business. He sold 1/8 of the business to his brother. What fraction of the business does Bob still own? What percentage of the business does Bob still own?
In order to add or subtract amounts of fractions with different denominators, you have to find a common denominator.
This is done by multiplying the 2 denominators, in this case 8 and 9 to get 72.
then you have to convert the fraction from the small values to the larger ones in each case,
for each multiplication in the bottom you must multiply the same on top.
For this case 8/9 becomes 8x8...

Tommy is putting a fence around a field. The field is rectangular and measures 7.08 yards long and 15.15 yards wide. How much fence must Tommy purchase?
for the perimeter of any area, one adds the distances of each side. So whether there are four sides or more , or 3 sides, add the lengths together. there will of course be 4 sides to the rectangle, 2 short and 2 long. add the 15.15 and the 7.08 together and you will have 1/2 the needed length. Or you could multiply 7.08 x 2 and then 15.15 x 2 and add those results together for the whole length.

How do you write 0.26 as a common fraction or mixed number and in lowest terms?
decimal numbers are written as portions of 1.
so if you add a zero for every number behind the decimal
you will have the number for the divisor.
EXAMPLE 0.26 has 2 places behind the decimal so
1 plus 2 zeros is 100
then its 26 / 100.
then you can reduce it by dividing both sides by the same number.
26 / 2 and 100 / 2 are 13 and 50
so 13/50.
EXAMPLE 0.0848 has 4 places behind the...

Red = 2
Orange = 3
Yellow = 4
Green = 5
Blue = 6
Violet = 7

I need to test for a broken SS wire? The wire is wrapped around a ferrite core and is held in place by an outer conductive bond coat. An ohms meter will not work, because, if the wire is broken the voltage conducts through the bond coat, not the wire.
The wire must be an enamel insulated wire, otherwise the conductive bond coating would short out every turn continuously. therefore if you are measuring with an ohmmeter, and the wire measures short, it is likely the wire is intact. you can test to see if the wire has punctured insulation by measuring from either end to the conductive bond coating; if there is high or infinite resistance then...

The concept was that the ship was enclosed in a warp field, a sort of bubble. The ship could orient in real time and normal speed within the bubble, even if the bubble was travelling at warp.
Or maybe the warp field bubble isolated everything within it from inertial forces of high speed maneuvers. one could theoretically turn while at warp, but the energy expended would be far greater than...

Answer to:
Do you think some people on AB take things too seriously this is why they DR some answers that clearly incluse humour? or are they just mean?
I have been DR'd many times for an irreverent answer.
I enjoy sarcasm, especially when the question is too high-and-mighty,
or when it is just a boring so-what question.
Otherwise I usually answer earnestly. ( unless of course I am feeling playful )
OH I am hard to predict, I do lean towards the fun tho.

What is meant by: "dreadul Jekyll and Hyde character/relationship?" Like what exactly is a "dreadful Jekyll and Hyde" relationship/character? I'm open for straight up answers and guesses.
If you are familiar with the concept of Jekyll and Hyde,
The two characters were opposites, one good and one evil.
A character of this type would be nasty one moment and kind the next,
A relationship of this type would be peaceful one moment and war the next.
In the story of Jekyll and Hyde, the character ( a single person ) would transform from one to the other state rapidly.

All it takes is a small abrasion to allow an irritant to stay long enough to cause a reaction, or it can get under the edges of the gums around the teeth. Thats why the teeth are sore. What electronics can pass through a metal detector without the alarm going on? are there ways to discise them?
Thin - film metal circuits may be able to go thru, but they will not pass much power. you need special processes to make the circuits, and to connect the devices. some devices can be made from thin film as well, but for any appreciable circuit density and function you will probably have enough film to trigger the sensor. it would probably be impossible to image the thin film components to see...

I need a relatively simple circuit that will produce a Negative picture from a Black and White composite video output of a camera( 75 Ohm 1Vpp). i.e black becomes white and Visa-versa. I'm in Australia and therefore use the PAL format.
simple video op-amp. connect the video to the - input, the output to the + input ( feedback ) and take your inverted signal from the output. see your electronics supplier, ask for LM358. Should come with spec sheet, which will show typical application drawings. should easily run on 9v supply. you will need a + - supply ( 2 batteries ) since the video signal passes thru 0V for the sync.

Is there a reason why science is considered a mockery by certain religions by certain people?
They fear that science may uncover truths and proofs that contradict their philosophies or beliefs. This might result in the loss of followers in the least, and dissolution of their religion at the worst. Therefore their best defence against science is to hold it in contempt and hope that their followers will not be tempted to seek the truth.

Why are the conversions in the metric system easier to make than conversions in the US system of measurements?
Because Metric uses the power of ten to move between scales of measurement within the system. To move within the US, or AVDP system, you need to use several different multipliers, depending on which scale you are converting. Inches to feet = 12. Feet to yards = 3. Ounces to cups, pints, quarts, gallons, bushels, barrels are all different multipliers. For metric, you scale up or down by moving...

She cannot stay with a man who is unfaithful.
If there is another reason you had an STD then you have to prove it to her to get her trust back.

There is a lot of DR going on, and not much of it is for any other reason than for being nasty to someone else, and getting a charge out of that.

It's a monumental waste of time. Of all the possible ways to occupy one's time, going to that length to troll is the most futile. DR's are meaningless. sorry to see that you are sensitive to it, but the only positive thing you can do about it is ignore them. Or maybe talk to a COAT.....

Compressed air and a vacuum cleaner. It works especially well if you block all vents except the one you are working on, and then choose one vent to blow into. the air will drive around the tubing and flush it out to the unblocked vent. Then choose a different vent to be open and blow air again from the chosen vent. select different vents until you have blown them all from the one vent. Have the...

At the speed of sound over water, you would have to be riding an air cushion since the friction of water contact would be too great. That said, any small wavelet that touched the craft could cause a disaster.

Underwater the speed of sound is higher than the speed of sound in the air, but either speed would be unattainable due to the friction of passing through the water.

They are clowns, trying to get a laugh.
They knew their audience at the time, and that was mostly male.
Vaudeville was a rough place, and times were hard.
People looked for entertainment, and to see someone else slapped for a change made them laugh.

If you want a quick and reversible solution go into your email properties and set up a rule to move all incoming messages with the words 'answerbag' and 'administration' to the trash. you will not see them again and if you ever become interested in seeing what they have to say you can remove the rule. You can also check the trash occasionally to see if there is something...

The dog responded to a stressful situation by attempting to stop the activity. The girls need to understand that that type of behavior is a problem for the dog, any dog. Treat the dog kindly, he will not associate punishment now to the event from before. Take the advice of a qualified trainer in this regard, but remember whatever you allow your dog to do, you are training it to do that thing....

Canadians are only 30 million or so. To make their system work in a 300 million environment would take 10 times the cooperation and good will from all of the participants. Do you think the American political and commercial systems are selfless enough to accomplish this ?

Cheap and good are mutually exclusive no matter where you are. Cheaper may be found in an area where the locals cannot afford better, but the same general rule will apply among those in that area as well. The exception to the rule is the elusive vet who does it more for the love of the animals they care for than the money, The quality of life they give to the pet and owner is their major...

What generation do you imagine will finally have zero debt? What generation do you imagine truly cares?
In my opinion, only individuals, not generations, can ever achieve debt free status. If you are debt free and can live below the income tax level of earnings, then you will not technically be saddled with what some might say is your 'share' of the national debt. Few people, however are willing to legally live at that salary level. If you are at a higher level and have no other debts,...

Could you please suggest ways to stop people from leaving the company they have been working for?
Employees leave for a number of reasons.
Money is one but not the only reason.
Some employees need to feel respected, as well as paid.
If they begin to lose trust in the management, they will look for a 'better' workplace. If they feel they are being treated unfairly they will leave. If they have no variety in their tasks, they might leave.
Morale.
Money.
Self Esteem.

What will happen if diesel is poured into a petrol engine?
If you pour the diesel into the engine, the cylinders with the open intake valves will fill first. Then the entire intake manifold will fill. After that, depending if you have EFI or carbeuration, the throttle body / carb body will fill and then you can add no more diesel.

If you put diesel into the fuel tank, things will behave much differently. Depending on the compression of the engine,...

Sounds like the EX is using the kids to make him miserable, and he regrets the kids for that reason.

Wrong thinking.

His kids have nothing to do with the EX being vicious.
.
So if he really means he is not opposed to kids then he is saying that because he is trying to trust you as a woman who will not do the same thing to him.

First, I do not believe anything will "take down" religion. Thousands of years of doctrine will not be taken down by external forces, short of eradication of the followers.

oops I read the question wrong :0 After some thought, I would say it is obviously unnatural, therefore the deaths were unnatural. This simply points out the fact that some people will believe what they choose to believe, and to hell with proof or fact. They are prone to conspiracy theories and becoming involved in sects, and other fanatical organizations. The people who " found " the birth certificate prey on these individuals.

Having a 'note' on a property means another person has a financial interest ( or mortgage ) in that property, registered against the current owner. The property cannot be sold or traded without honoring the note first, so if the property was purchased, the deal must include clearing the title for the next owner, in other words paying the note off before the sale proceeds. In a trade,...

I had to quit coffee suddenly for medical reasons 2 weeks ago, and now I have serious constipation. Like, nothing's moving in there at all. Will this take care of itself eventually or do I need to use something to help?
If you drank a lot of coffee, and did not replace the lost fluid with another water source, you will dehydrate. Your bowel normally removes water from your stool, so constipation in this case could be linked to not enough liquid intake. Try drinking more water, or juice. Get back to your fluid intake rate.

Why do people say that Jimi Hendrix is the greatest guitarist of all time? What makes him better than Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, or Stevie Ray Vaughan? Or do they say that cuz it's the only guitar name they know?
Hendrix was in a close crowd of guitar players riding the edge of the new Rock. No one else here has mentioned Eric Clapton, A brilliant improvisator who was improvising on classic tunes. Later in his career he created a lot of excellent original material. Perhaps Clapton was skipped as the greatest because he was already dubbed a GOD :)) Also noteworthy were Alvin Lee, and Ritchie Blackmore,...

This guy i have been seeing in and off called today and asked how i was,i said i was fine.his reply was 'as long as your ok that fine by me'.would you say he was being caring towards me?was thinking of me?
I think he was telling you he did not want to hear details about your life, that he was fine with knowing you are " OK "... He called because he cared in some way enough to want to know, but " OK " was enough of an answer for him.

My ex-fiance left me almost 3 mos ago. I have acted badly by emailing, phone calls, and whinning. At this point I've stopped, but don't want to let her go. Do I ever have a chance to get her back? details can be filled in if asked
I know of someone who had the same issues - they never got back, and eventually moved on, after finding several someones to choose from. This person still haunts their memory from time to time, but their new found love is making the old flame grow dim. in time it will be just a glow, and then less and less. Be patient, your heart takes the longest to heal. If she is gone, only she can decide to...

I called my boss stupid. I didn't say it to his face but he found out somehow. I got a warning and was told to apologize. Was I really that wrong? I didn't say it to him so I don't really see it as being disrespectfull? Any opinions?
As a boss, his authority depends on people respecting him, as opposed to simply having the power to fire you. If a boss loses the respect of his employees, he becomes less effective with them, and production suffers, among other things. The boss of the boss may lose respect for him as well, and that is a situation your boss will want to avoid. Obviously not everyone you spoke to agreed with...

I did something that may have caused someone to dislocate their shoulder. Of course this wasn't done intentionally. If I tell the truth, about what happened, I could end up with a suspension or worse get let go. What should I do?
You "may" have caused another person to be injured. And of course you did not intend for anyone to suffer because of what you did. The fact remains that someone got hurt, and no one knows the truth but you and perhaps that person, unless it was random. If what you did was deliberate, as a prank, then you are really in a tough situation. BUT your question says you "may" have...

What do you think a woman would be entitled to in a divorce that was one year long and there was no children, or property, or any other assets? Let's say that she wasn't working during the marriage, but has great skills to get a decent, well paying job.
with no property and no assets, no children, this is more like an annulment than a divorce, but she is entitled to half of whatever she can prove was her contribution to the affair. Since there are no assets, I think a judge would encourage you two to simply walk away. Taking this to court for any money would be silly since legal fees would quickly drain anything away that is worth fighting...

Answer to:
When starting car the engine won't idle down. runs at 1500 rpm almost like speed control is on.
Check all the little hoses going to the throttle body or carburetor if so equipped. usually a high idle means there is a vacuum leak. Also check the seal at the bottom of the air intake, leaks can occur there as well. A leak in the system after the filter can lead to dirt inside and engine damage. Check that the throttle body is not loose on the manifold too.

Assuming you are playing the ball forward in your stance, even with your left heel, you are playing a shaft with a low stiffness and are getting to the ball before the shaft releases thru, thereby taking the loft off of the face. If you are playing the ball more to the middle of your swing arc, the centre of your stance, this does the same thing to the loft - but it is a great shot into the...

How fast can a golf ball go
Actually the USGA has a limit of the reactive speed of a golf ball, for the preservation of the game. ( one of several key elements of ball design ). The reactive speed is the speed at which the ball will rebound form the surface of the club, after it has been compressed by the club. The ball 'reacts' to being compressed. The amount of reaction is proportional to the amount of...

Should I buy a Callaway bag or a Cleveland bag for golf?
Choose a bag ( any bag ) which is light enough for you to manage getting it in and out of your car or trunk. Do not buy a bag for its name alone; many unnamed bags are just as good as the double-priced named ones. Do not get a bag too large, the extra wieght and size will make it unreasonable to handle, unless you have a caddy :) . For the novice, a plain bag with 2 or 3 pockets is a great...
Answer to:
If during a golf tournament a golfer marks his ball by placing his marker in front of the ball and then picks up. When he places his ball back he puts it in front of his marker brining the ball closer to the hole then putts ou. Is he disqualified?
He would either lose the hole, the match, or be disqualified for breach of rule. the level of penalty depends on the type of round being played; stroke play, match play or medal. Similar to the offence of not putting out to complete the hole, it is considered a form of cheat, and poor sportsmanship / conduct.

Why are the clouds white when the rest of the sky is blue? Wouldnt they just be see-through if they are made of water?
Clouds are indeed water particles, and water does bend light passing thru it. The untold zillions of water particles scatter so much light that the color they reflect to your eye is white ( all colors ). When a cloud reaches a much higher density it blocks more of the light and becomes dark, or a black cloud.

If space is the final frontier, then why does it seem so much more impossible to travel the depths then to observe the universe?
It only seems so - - each problem is difficult because you have to have an impervious bubble around you. At least star gazing does not require that. Star travel, on the other hand, at this time would take longer than a lifetime, so for practical purposes it is more impossible than going deep. If you are satisfied with not being there in person, there is less impossibility in both.

NO, I do not; there is some scientific evidence linking drinking liquids when they are too hot - to cancers of the esophagus and stomach. If you need to rush your drink, drink something cooler. How long has Canada had universal health care? Any Canadian members old enough to tell us, did Canada go through all this kerfluffle to get it set up?
Canada has had Medicare ( the original name for it ) since the 60's. The effort was pioneered by Tommy Douglass and Lester B Pearson, both political leaders of the day. Yes, it was kerfluffle and kerfluffle, but it was seen as the right thing to do and so it eventually got passed into law.

Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected expected?
The expected is expected, the unexpected is not. You can expect the expectable and expect the unexpected, but the unexpected is still unexpected, if you knew what it was you could expect it. Expecting unexpecteds is commonly expected in areas where little is known. If you knew the unknown it would no longer be unknown, but known; but you know you knew it was once unknown so you could say it was...

Is it true that if you use big appliances in the evening, such as washer, dryer, ect..., it is less expensive?
No, they consume the same power, the difference is that other times of day have more or less loads put on the power grid. Peak hours and hot days are well known for power usage spikes, so it is helpful to use power on off-peak hours and when air conditioners are used less. This will help prevent brownouts or failures, but does not otherwise affect cost of operation to you.

As an overall rule, is a the specified length of a golf hole measured from the tee to the front of the green, or to the centre of the green, and does this measurement also include par 3 holes?
From a line crossing the centre of the tee box, or a marker placed in the tee box, to the centre of the green, in all cases. This allows for forward and back positions of the pin and tees. Where it states on a scorecard " distance to green" from fairway locations, it is measured to the edge of the green, as the distance to carry.
Answer to:
Where do you hit your next shot if you hit it out of bounds?
You would take the penalty and drop the ball at the place from which it was hit OB. ( stroke and distance ). If you are in doubt if your ball lies in or out of bounds, you may choose to play a PROVISIONAL ball, which from the tee would be your 3rd. If your ball lies in bounds, you may play it without penalty and the provisional is null and void.

for rules purposes, the hole is deemed finished when the score is marked; this includes the ball in the hole of course. for players who have dropped out of play during the hole, the score for that player is 'NF'. Some local rules may apply for amateur golfers, to speed up play for others ( etiquette ) in which it is expected for a player to call the hole finished when they have gone...

In the nfl can a defense player run up the sideline then run in to tackle a offense player
Once a player steps out of bounds technically he cannot re enter the field until the current play ends. So as long as he stays in bounds he can run anywhere during the play. He can only tackle the player who carries the ball. An offensive player may block a defensive one from getting to the ball carrier. The offensive blocker may not grab his opponent, but may push or otherwise impede them....

If you went back in time would killing your grandfather really cause your birth not to happen?
That is the theory. Since you would then have no grandfather then you could not be the child of a child he never could have had. On the other hand, some theorize that there could be several time lines possible, and that changing an event in one could not alter all of them. Perhaps you would go back to kill your grandfather, but the one you killed was not the grandfather in your own time line.

Answer to:
If a team pulls out of a league that they're taking part in what happens to their results? Are all results considered null and void or do they stand with all future fixtures being walkovers for the opposition?
That depends on how the league chooses to deal with the void. If everyone got a win out of the void then it would be fair, but sometimes a team withdraws after some wins, so it is not equal for all the other teams. If the league is able to reassign games that is the preferred solution, but it is not always possible or considered too much work.

I would suspect that moisture is causing some corrosion. Beyond that, be very careful because old munitions can become very unstable. If you are keeping them for sentimental or ornamental purposes, have them disarmed. Otherwise you are gambling every time you handle them.

Does any one know around how much you would get paid for illustrating a children's book if it does quite well. like how much of the profit you would make?
That would depend on the type of contract you had for the artwork. Most artists will work for a fee, once the fee is paid they have nothing further from the project. Other artists who have recognition and therefore more value to the book will be able to negotiate a percentage of the profit for a fee, however this can be less than the straight fee if the book does not sell.

A machine that could run itself, and provide extra power, can not work according to physics. but the truth is, no one really knows ?. when a machine is pruduced, people will say, we have just taken physics further. or are we waisting our time looking ?.
There is far more evidence to show that Physics is right. To say that no one really knows is not accurate, better to say that no one has ever succeeded in proving physics wrong. There are good reasons to persue efficiency, and try to get as close as possible to the ideal, but this 'perpetual' goal is highly unlikely to be reached. IF you really want to try , I wish you 'luck'.

On most modern vehicles the pump runs all the time and the excess fuel is sent back to the tank by a second line. For fuel to get into the oil is unusual unless it is getting there by going past the rings in a dead cylinder. Not many other ways to do it. I was able to get lots of gas into the oil on a small engine by running it on choke for a long time. the extra rich fuel not burned in...

the spout is the result of the high pressure area created by the drive, under the hull. rather than absorb the pressure laterally into the body of water, the pressure is released into the path of least resistance when the hull moves forward. So it would be difficult to modify this without changing the propulsion discharge to a different pattern. you would probably loose a good amount of...

Why should you consider that those who think you are comical and fun cannot also think of you as an equal ?? This is a problem of yours, not of theirs. Since the exact mechanism by which the photon is emitted, or released, is unknown, the direction appears random. When you are deciding what to do with ashes, what if you want to put some in one country, some in another, have a grave in one and plaque in the wall in another - do you think it is confusing for people both here and who have departed?
Spreading ones ashes is a common ocurrence, although it usually takes place all at the same place. There is no restriction other than to obtain proper permissions from the property holders to do so, in the case of private lands, or the municipality in the case of public places. The recently deceased has usually made such agreements in advance, and documentation should be with the will. This not...
Answer to:
At the end of Schindler's List, what is the significance of the people putting the rocks on the grave?
It is a form of tribute; the more strongly one felt presumably the larger the stone. The size of such cairns, or stone piles, used to be a show of how respected one was, or how many lives they had touched, etc. A lasting memorial in stone as opposed to flowers. A simple mark of respect for those who could in olden times afford little more.

At the beginning of the 1960 movie "THE TIME MACHINE," H. G. Wells arrives late for his dinner meeting with his colleagues. My question is, how can anyone who owns and operates a "time machine," ever be LATE for anything?
looking at the picture, one sees the machine is not precisely controlled as one would prefer, but has some room for error. As to ANYONE ELSE who has a similar but not identical machine, one can only speculate as to how they might be delayed :) As goes the quote: "the best laid plans of mice and men "

I rent a room to a guy but he bring his girlfriend every night in the last month and i charge extra money to let her stay.can i keep that money from the security deposit .
A security deposit is used when the tenant leaves, if there is damage to the apartment the security deposit is used for the repair. Security deposit is also taken if the tenant skips out; so it is usually about one month rent. Taking security deposit for sleepovers is not considered a valid reason, but you can charge him more for rent. The security deposit is actually his money held in trust...
Answer to:
When on the green what are two options when referring to the pin? If these options are not followed what is the penalty?
A person about to putt may ask that the pin be TENDED, or PULLED. Tending means that another person holds the pin in the cup until after the putt is struck. Pulling the pin means that the pin is removed from the hole before the putt is struck. In either case, the penalty for allowing the ball to touch the pin is 2 strokes.
Answer to:
After the completion of a hole, when is the score marked on your scorecard?
In a friendly game between amateurs, the correct time to mark the score is the proper etiquette of golf. This is to mark the score after promptly leaving the green, and on the way to the next hole or at the next tee before beginning play again. Once a person has holed out he or she should prepare to depart for the next hole. Usually one golfer is a score keeper; and the others report their...

Answer to:
Is Shindler's List a must see?
I would say so - it states the case without getting too emotional about it and becoming a rant. The characters are well portrayed, and their emotions are often stifled because of the threat of their situation. We as the viewers are then allowed to put our own emotional feeling into the movie, and that makes it more effective as well.

Our neighbor's recorded survey is obviously wrong; omits land between us and encroaches too . A straight line between us is intuitive. What if my good neighbor believes his survey is correct and mine is wrong? Inexpensive resolution to this?
Consult your lawyer. For a small fee he will write a letter to your neighbor's lawyer challenging the survey, and suggest that if the neighbor does not agree to settle the issue to your satisfaction, that there should be another survey taken and the loser of the dispute would pay for the survey and be required to compensate the other party accordingly for encroachment(s).

Once it touches the ground in foul land it is foul, and a dead ball. If the ball rolls along the line it is not dead until it crosses foul. The ball may cross the line in the air and come back to be fair, it is not dead until it touches the ground foul or is caught.

It depends on whether you are helping them get over, or being a substitute for a lover. If you are there as a friend, and not as an object to be used while the original is gone, then it is probably not a risky thing. Make sure you understand the motives and feelings of you both.

How can I read my child's text messages which have been deleted? Is there a way to have her messages show up on my phone, or email? I want to monitor for safety, but am not very computer/phone savvy.
You need to talk to your service provider. If your child is of legal age you may require a court order. Otherwise only your provider can set up the links to transfer or copy the data. If the phone is registered to you as the owner, then you have no legal problem, but you still need to set it up with your provider.

The award winning 1998 British Film "Still Crazy" is one of the best Rock Music films I've ever seen - and I've seen most of them! Yet even most of my musician friends have never heard of it let alone seen it! Why isn't it more popular?
As a musician, I can understand your point. The movie was promoted as a music movie, a kind of biographic film. For most of the public, it was not something they preferred to see; it had no car chases, no blood and gore, no robots, no huge box office stars, no gratuitous sex, etc etc. you had to be interested in musicians for that one.

Next time it cuts out, you might check for voltage at the ignition coil. Could be a bad ignition switch, loses contact to the ignition, and sometimes wont switch for starting. Look for missing voltages when things dont work. If it was carburetor it would not be a quick death, but more of a choked one. Since you describe it as a cut-out, I would be checking electric paths. Check grounds too,...

It would be a sad state of affairs indeed. Honk at another driver and get shot. Look at his girlfriend and get shot. There would be lots fewer people, and lots more walking wounded as well. Check the fan assembly and look for a paddle or other air vane in the airway. this is one way to sense air motion. if there is a vane, check to be sure it can move freely. there may be dust in the sensor that the vane blocks when it is at rest. another place to look is on the fan itself, for...

Since you cannot "touch" christ as a being, if you are having a personal relationship ie: in person, then you would already be in heaven. Otherwise, I was taught that you would be accepted if you repented your sins to Christ, this would be at your day of reckoning, to him personally. So my counsel to you is live appropriately, according to the commandments, and you shall have little...

At the restaurant i work, a guest ask for an item that we are out of . the guest gets very upset and starts to walk out of the restaurant. how should i handle this situation?
Ask if they would care to speak to the manager - you do not have to put up with trash that you do not control. If they want to leave it is up to them. Do not make excuses for the restaraunt, that is the job of the management. Is the customer expecting you to give him something for free ? if so you best know whether management will ok you to offer anything. Its still the MGMT problem.

If being overweight is a big part of your life, what would your new focus be once you've lost all the weight? Wouldn't you feel pretty accomplished like theres nothing else to do?
I hope " being - overweight - is a - big - part of your life" is an unintentional pun....... Anyway, the accomplishment would be hard won, and deserving of much self esteem. But nothing else to do? there is always something else - and you now would have the energy to tackl it, and the knowledge that if you could beat the weight you could do anything you wanted to.
Answer to:
Do you like the new idea of aliens (ET's) shown as celestial, glowing, solid liquid, transcending super beings, instead of the hairless little things with big oval black eyes?
Think about how we as humans would appear to others if we developed space travel to the stars. We are hairy, smell bad, do disgusting things and dont pick up our own garbage. Why do we imagine that visitors from other systems would be any better, if not worse ?
Answer to:
What do you think could be the ultimate discovery science can offer? Or could there be anything like that?
The best thing I could think of would be an unlimited free source of energy, everything in the world today costs according to the amount of energy required to make it. So if energy was abundant to everyone, there would be no need for money and no lack of comfort, Space travel would be possible and colonization. A lot of problems would be solved, except maybe drugs and teen pregnancy......

If you are not, count yourselves lucky this time. Does this scare you ? do you wish to become pregnant ? Why not a condom ? You are gambling, kids, do you like the odds ? Think about what if you are pregnant - what now ? OH well, time will tell. Good Luck.

If you tore your prepuce a little bit during foreplay and it started to bleed like crazy for 10 minutes. Should you see a doctor and how long will it take to heal?
The vessels have drawn back and the bleeding has stopped, you will notice the skin there will be a kind of scar tissue, dead skin. during the healing process this skin will come off, and things will be normal. Keep it clean and take care not to injure it again for a while. Consult your doctor if it becomes inflamed and or infected. :)) watch those teeth, lol.

What do you think about the movie Mrs.Doubtfire?
I thought it was a good movie, lots of interesting things in it, BUT it was probably the 5th or 7th movie along the same theme - man impersonates woman or woman impersonates man. For the concept I thought Tootsie was a better movie, and Victor Victoria funnier. Robin Williams has had better moments.

Everytime i use my cordless phone it makes my laptop loose connection until i hangup. how do i fix this its sooo annoying !
The problem is the frequency the phone uses for talking to its base. the older phones use 2.4 GHz and that is the same frequency as the laptop wireless. There is no way to stop the intereference except to get a new phone one of the 5.4 GHz ones. Sorry but that was one of the things we found out when wireless net became popular.

Answer to:
Personally, I find that it's often much, much harder to craft a short, concise question than an answer. Why then do AnswerBaggers tend to give points to the answers but skip giving points to the original question that generated all those great responses?
If I look at my own record, my questions rated 60% higher points return than my answers per capita, but sometimes that can be misleading since the questioner does not always read the responses right away. I have noted however that some answers never get pointed even if they are as valid as others in the same list. For bang for the buck, 5 points for a flag seems to be the way to go - as long as...

I believe it is because it is not the answer they expected ( usually a religious question, in my experience ) if they dont like the answer they should just leave it at zero, but they seem to want to "teach" by the DR.

Do you work for the USPS? Have you ever seen or had to open any strange or suspicious letters or packages?
The USPS is forbidden from directly tampering with the mail. Someone must raise a question and then the matter is referred to the police who can do this in the interest of public safety. Of course there must be sufficient cause for them to take action but if the package is suspicious enough they will take the nescessary steps.

This site can be very intolerant. if you wanna make a statement and not be DR then use the comments. But be aware that there are those out there who will follow you to questions you answer and DR you there, so maybe just try going low profile for a while until they go after someone else. Answer to:
Please somebody explain to me what it means that irq2 cascades to irq9 and irq9 t0 irq2? please illustrate the explanation with a simple drawing showing the two interupt chips ,the expansion bus and the cpu
The use of IRQ2 and IRQ9 ( stems ) from the introduction of a slave 8259 in the PC/AT. The slave 8259's INT output is connected to the master's IR2. The IRQ2 line of the ISA bus, originally connected to this IR2, was rerouted to IR1 of the slave. Thus the old IRQ2 line now generates IRQ9 in the CPU. To allow backwards compatibility with DOS device drivers that still set up for IRQ2, a...

Remember his early days with Small Faces, and Jeff Beck. Rod could hang out with the best of them, but the Stones are a different class and direction. I dont think the chemistry would be there, but they could probably Jam it well enough if one could write a passable Duet for him and Mick.

What will Mitch Mitchell of the Jimi Hendrix Experience be best remembered for?
He was one, if not the best, drummer of his time. I think he was accepted as being great, but still under rated. He was replaced in later years by Buddy Miles, but that was a poor comparison to make. Buddy Rich or Ginger Baker would have been more the level, but we shall never know. Mitch will be missed as much as Noel and Jimi, may they all be jammin again.

Your comments?
I have to think of the statement "70% of the world's poor" - obviously this is not 70% of the world's women, but of the POOR. I would probably agree with the statement, given that of the world's poor, the conditions under which they live are neither fair nor equitable. There is no discrimination in poor. I am saddened by the numbers in general.

Why is it men tend to walk in front of thier women ,and do not open doors for them?
It may be as simple as the fact that they have a longer stride than their woman, so they tend to open some distance, and the fact that they assume their woman does not always expect the door to be opened. Most men care enough to walk WITH their partners - unless they are getting near the tools aisle :)
