What year did you start your first job? And what was your minimum age? Mine was Kentucky Fried Chicken at $3.35 an hour AND it was in 1983!
1971!!!! I worked at Freeman Hardy & Willis (shoe franchise of that era) and earned £7.50 per week. I could buy a pair of jeans, some make-up and, of course, the inevitable pair of shoes at discount price. That is where my love of shoes first began.... thanks Nunya!

What would you recommend I do with a million dollars (if I couldn't give it to you or someone you know)?
You could be like the 'secret millionaire' but instead of giving huge chunks to worthwhile charities, hand out a $100 dollars here and there to families, and all thousands of deserving people out there. A few dollars/GBP can make a vast difference to so many people.

ABers that celebrate Christmas - what are some aromas that you associate with the holiday?
Kitchen aromas mostly. Christmas cake and puddings being prepared. As a child my Mum used to wrap sixpences and pop them inside the pudding and we would all have a 'stir' and make a wish. What a treat if you found one (hopefully before you crunched it!) Mince pies, sausage rolls. Happy, happy days when I was growing up. Pine trees and cones and the smell of freshly fallen snow....

Will British Chef Jamie Oliver's efforts to encourage Americans to eat healthily work?
Think he needs to check the contents of his so called 'healthy' food first Jadey. Was an article in the paper recently - I think (not terribly sure) that it was for his home made pasta sauce. Apparently the sugar/salt content was WAY higher than that of a shop bought one. May not have been sauce, but certainly a staple of most homes. +4 :)

Have you ever chopped firewood?
No, but many years ago I used to have a log burner (which was the only form of heating in my house) and ordered my logs from a local wholesaler. Trouble is there was no access to my back yard so he had to dump them in the car park next door. I then had to run round and throw them over my back wall as quickly as I could before someone pinched them (and trust me, where I lived then, they did!)....

Have you ever wanted to be a cat?
Very often, but only if I come back and have 'me' as my owner. Then I know I will be well loved, well fed and taken care of. OK I will be thoroughly spoilt! I will have the best seat in the house and be nearest the fire. If I want to go out and catch food, I can, but it won't be necessary because I shall be waited on hand and foot.

Yes - they do and it seems as though they are getting them everywhere! My current pet hate. I then had to wait for the supervisor to verify I was over 18. I am in my 50's...... They are not efficient...

elf n safety is what we Brits called Health and Safety. Our country seems to have gone completely mad over Health & Safety Issues. They have to do a risk assessment on just about everything now....

Even in the days when my 'bod' was good enough to wear a see through dress I would never have allowed a man to tell me what to wear. On a one to one its fine and IN PRIVATE its healthy - consenting adults etc. but to go out in it so others can lech I think not! I would question my boyfriend's motives if I were you.

Am I the only one who thinks that the British National anthem is a bit weak? As a tune, it is not fiery or inspiring - I think I would prefer either the italian anthem, or a version of Boogie Wonderland - what do you think?
I agree - it is SO incredibly boring, depressing zzzzzzzzzz. As per earlier answers "I vow to thee my country" - Pomp and Circumstance. I used to watch that on Last Night of the Proms, really rousing and brings a tear to the eye. I quite like the tune and lyrics of the French anthem too. :)

Once and for all, do the English hate Americans?
Well I am English (OK half Scots and half English to be perfectly exact). I have met and worked with a lot of Americans and no I don't hate them. Why would I? People are people the world over and we can like/dislike them just because of who they are and not their nationality. That should not enter into it. Yes, at times the English ARE reserved whereas Americans are without a doubt...

I had all older siblings and loved it. I lived in a time when big families were the norm. Sometimes I feel sorry for my son who is an only child . We could always make our own amusement at home as there was always someone to play with. He has to go visit or actually go out to meet friends. Not a bad thing I know but sometimes it would have been lovely to have had another one or a few! :)

Blue peas! They had a blue tinge to them - can't remember their correct name. We used to call them 'farty peas'. We always had them with a Sunday roast and you didn't want to be in the same room as a family of 9 after that - trust me! Happy days - thanks for the...

Are tips pretty much required where you live? or do you just pay the bill?
Always tip in a restaurant - have been a waitress and its hard work. Plus the waiter/ress usually gets the blame if something is wrong with the meal when it is not their fault and they get the brunt of the rudeness from some customers.
I used to tip taxi driver but don't anymore, but I still tip my hairdresser.

CAT OWNERS:: My cat needs to go to the vet for possible intestinal issues. Anyone who has been in this situation, can you estimate how much I would be spending?
I am in the UK MissHoneyBee so costs probably vary considerably. A routine blood test is between £20- £30. X-rays considerably more. Then you will have the appt time with the vet. Depends what/if they find anything untoward and then there will be the cost of the operation.
One of my cats (long gone now) it cost me nearly £500 but that involved a major operation as well....

Why are some people so rude!?
They are so miserable inside (for whatever reason) and the only way they can feel better, albeit for a short while is to try and make others feel bad about themselves. Just don't allow yourself to be dragged down to their level. Remember - misery loves company. :)

In the movie Forest Gump there is a scene with a feather floating. Have you ever seen a feather floating in the breeze? I saw it this morning. It was a Ringneck Dove's feather.
Quite a lot of birds near where I live so yes. Rumour/superstition has it that it is meant to be good luck if you see a white one. Something about a person that has departed letting you know they are OK. Heard that somewhere. Might be a load of old rubbish, but its comforting too. :)

Aw cute- I would do as bit of both really. Do you respect and give riders of motorcyles and scooters enough room on the road?
Always. My husband is a very keen cyclist and my son and I enjoy cycling for fun. My husband has been knocked off his bike by an idiot motorist and I had an altercation with an big lorry once. The lorry won but no serious damage to me, just my pride and a sore backside. So yes we do.

When attending funerals, do you agree with open caskets, closed caskets or don't care either way?
In the U.K. we don't have an open casket at the actual funeral. The deceased lies in the funeral home for a given time which gives people the choice whether they wish to see their loved one more time. Once that short period has passed, the casket is then closed in readiness for the day of the funeral/cremation.

Am very very sorry for your loss. Dont put pressure on yourself (or accept it from others) to find another partner. The love you lost will always be part of your life. IF and WHEN someone else comes along (you will know believe me).
