My brothers 2 year old is kicking and hitting our small puppies, he is playing with them, I don’t think he knows he is hurting them, I am detecting jealousy from his side, how can we help him to understand not to hurt them?
First of all, keep him away from them unless he is supervised.
I would then 'rough him up' a little, playfully, tell him thats what he does to the puppies, but they can't tell him to stop!( They will when they're bigger, by biting him).
If he can't behave, he loses the priveledge of playing with them

Someone without the intolerance would have no problem with these foods.

My 9 month old has slept through from 3 months, but over the last month he will not go to sleep at his usual time. He is also waking around 3 in the monring and refusing to go back to sleep for a few hours. Does anyone have any advice?
He needs to be more active during his day so that he is more tired around his usual bedtime. Keep to a 'bedtime ritual' that doesn't change, but wear him out/vary his day, cut out naps if you can

My Dog is becoming aggressive. I have a 3yr old JRT that is becoming increasingly aggressive toward our family, especially our 19 mo old son. She has her own place, kid free, and some days is fine with him, but other days, she snarls and nips..
She is obviously testing her place in the 'pack' (your family ) and will become dominant unless this behaviour is nipped in the bud.
The INSTANT any aggressive behaviour shows, remove her smartly from the room. 'Time outs' should show her that her presence will not be tolerated unless she is well-behaved

I think something should be done, so that they are not in the forefront when a year or so has passed, eg the 14 yr.old with no gf, and the ones which are time specific ie 'what are you doing for Christmas' when its the height of summer

What should I do about my dog who is constantly shedding?
Is your house/climate very warm? Is the dog a heavy-coated type? If yes it will be a natural reaction of his body trying to regulate his temperature, given that diet etc. isn't the cause. If this is the case consider having him clipped out on a regular basis, you will both then benefit!

Answer to:
Does anyone else feel that AB is just not as good as it was?
I agree. The character has been lost, you could be on Yahoo now, there's no personality to the site any more, it was unique in the old format.
I also think, crucially, that it is not as addictive somehow, much easier to quit!

With so many people leaving AB lately, or taking breaks from the site, what can we do, as a community, to prevent this from happening? What are the main reasons people are leaving and can we do anything differently to prevent problems?
I certainly don't enjoy it now since the new layout, the other one was much more user-friendly IMO, and if AB want people to use the site they should listen to the comments, rather than telling people they should 'get used to it'
I think this site looks like they have copied Yahoo answers, and the old layout was much more original

Answer to:
Why is it, that everytime they make a new "skin" for AB, everyone complains instead of saying: "cool new skin!"? (I'm just saying this because the same thing happened with the "old" new AB...)
Because its NOT 'cool' - its far less user-friendly, for a start, the graphics are crap compared to the last one, who designed it, a monkey??

Well if it is they're welcome to it
Answer to:
So who else hates this new AnswerBag?
I do. Its way too big, way too white (what is all that white space FOR???? The design they had was SO much better, why couldn't they just change/improve the functions, and leave the rest alone?
It just bugs me now, every time I come on here.

Answer to:
Is anyone else totally confused right now and struggling with the new layout?
Yes! Its just not as user-friendly IMO, I think AB in its last form had just about everything right. Maybe if they notice a dip in the figures they will revert - if people are struggling they're just not going to bother

My dog has an itchy red patch on his leg, about 1/4 of a centimetre. It doesn't seem to affect him, but he keeps licking it and the fur has disappeared. He has had it for two weeks. He is dosed up with Frontline Combo.
It could be the start of an allergic reaction to the Frontline, or something in his diet, if it is not consistent, ie, if he gets household scraps intended for humans!
Try him on a non-allergenic science-type diet (dry kibble) this usually helps with skin conditions.
Don't let your vet drag him/you down the steroid path, they do not address the cause

You don't say how old your dog is, if its just a young pup, you need to just get it used to the lead being there.
Put the lead on, and just let the dog trail it around, so he forgets about it.Then try picking it up, just for a minute or two, and make it sound like fun, 'lets go see ' and maybe walk him to a treat you've hidden somewhere.

Do you usually buy this stuff when a kid comes to your door?
Thats a picnic compared to what my kids were asked to do at Primary school -clean up a local open space! What are we paying local councils for?

My 15-mo long-housebroken lab has recently decided that it's OK to do his business in the house when and where he pleases. I'm at a loss and my carpet is getting ruined! Why is he doing this and how can I stop it?
He may have had to wait too long to go outside one time, and now is back to puppyhood. You will have to treat him as if he is a pup again by scooting him straight outside after every meal, every nap etc., til you re-establish the routine. Obviously eliminate any medical reason for the lapse

Why is it that when a picture is taken of ourself, it doesn't look the same as our reflection in the mirror?
Th reflection is a reverse image , so to see yourself as others see you (ie as you really are) you would need two mirrors, one correcting the image reflected in the first one
