God no, never feed an animal chocolate. As far as chips, nothing serious would happen, but it wouldn't be good for your hamster's health. If you want to give it treats try grapes, or they sell treats specificaly for hamsters in pet stores, they're made with yogurt and they like those.

No, in high school I used to breed hamsters for a local pet store in my hometown and I would have about 60 + hamsters in my care at a given time and not once did I hear them burp. They hardly even squeek past a few weeks old.
