Years ago I read about a theory that stated that the universe goes through a repeating cycle of Big Bang - Expansion - Contraction - Big Bang ....... ad infinitum . Does this theory still have any support in the scientific community? yeah it's still pretty current. if you haven't you should check out bill bryson's a short history of nearly everything. it gives a great explanation of the whole theory and the more current ideas on it. :)
