Maybe he's not a genius, but right about a few things none-the-less. I see nothing but bashing of this president. "Oh my, does anyone dare defy the lockstep leftist dogma???" If finite minds can't grasp infinity, then what is the point of worshipping a deity we don't know or understand, and does the fault for this imperfection lay upon the deity?
First, our minds might not be finite yet may merely grasp all of infinity that they need in this world.
Blind worship may not be the goal, but attempting to enhance our understanding of these greater concepts might be the 'point' of religion(s) and philosophy.
Whatever imperfections that might exist might lie on a larger scale with the 'diety', but on a smaller scale...

Is there no hope for my future since I failed 4 courses in college? I'm currently a sophomore and have let personal problems ruin my academic life this year. Of course I plan to get back on track, but is it absolutely hopeless now?
There's always hope. Step back from it. You can probably piece your college back together. And realize college isn't everything. A large majority of people have no degree (you can look up the statistics). Also you will find that a large number of very great people had troubles in school or had little or no 'schooling'.
Either way, hope everything works out for you....

Answer to:
Isn't it possible that Saddam either buried his WMDs or shipped them out of Iraq prior to our invasion?
Every one in the world political and intelligence community believed he was working on WMDs before the invasion and going back many, many years. He threw out inspectors many times during Clinton and early Bush admin. Why would he throw out inspectors if he had nothing to hide. Even Clinton, Kerry and EVERYBODY are on record for years saying Saddam was dangerous, huge enemy of human rights,...

Is it more effective to read the textbook before or after the lecture?
If you want to participate in discussion, I'd say read before lecture. However, for passing classes, listen to professor and then when you read you will note the portions he of which he spoke (which will likely be emphasized in testing).
Answer to:
If a lion and a tiger were fighting who would win?
If equal size, I'd say the tiger since they are loners while lions generally depend on the pack. If a female tiger vs. a single female lion, I'd definitely vote on the female tiger - very aggressive. If male lion vs. similar size male tiger I'd bet even money. The turf could also matter as each will fight more courageously to defend it's own territory or a kill.
Answer to:
Do you find winter as depressing as I do? Do you live for spring and summer? Why?
I like all seasons. Winter can be a bit depressing. If winter seems too long you may wish to move further south (if in Northern hemisphere). The closer you get to the equator the less winter you have (and often the seasons are less distinct).

Will there ever be a total cure for cancer? If so, how long do you think it will be?
I think science will prevail. Genetic research will probably lead us there much sooner than most realize. I would take bets on this if I could.

Answer to:
How do you ask questions?
There is first an understanding that there is something you do not know. You then have the realization that you would like to know. While you might find out the 'hard way', you realize that another person might know and could impart the information much more quickly. You then use any communication skills you might have with the party whom you suspect could have the most reliable answer.

Why do some people insist on bringing their political views into everything?
I try not to bring mine until someone else (usually on the other side) brings theirs. Then it's 'open season' on whackos.

If something unidentifiable crashed, then by definition there was a UFO.
However, it is unlikely that most or any UFOs actually involve space aliens.

Can money buy happiness?
It all depends on what makes you happy. Try to figure out what makes you happy, then figure out how much money it will take (if any). Most people find that the most important things in life are not related to money or can't be bought.

Life did get better in the 1930s. How much was Roosevelt responsible for it? Was it due to other factors?
Roosevelt and others believed that the situation was dire and that the government had to do something to spark the economy. They made efforts in this direction. I believe it is difficult to say with any certainty whether these efforts had their intended effects or not.
However, I believe it is more likely that Roosevelt had some positive effect on the economy than some other presidents...
Answer to:
Why do scientists predict that humans need to colonise other planets in the future?
Look at a graph of population growth over history. You will see it begins to spike sharply upward over the last century.
The population double much quicker than it did for centuries or millenium.
If we stay solely on this planet we have to come up with good solutions for the future: birth control, enhanced food production, land use, etc. Or if we don't mother nature has ways of...

I'm almost 16 and 5 foot 11. Is there any way I can grow to be 6 foot 2?
I was about your height at 16 and am now 6 feet 1.
I grew about 1 foot plus between ages of 13 and 16 - so fast I have vertical stretch marks on my back. Grew a couple more inches in the next couple of years.
I was kinda skinny for most of my life - at 16 I was about 5' 11" but weighed only 155, but I started filling out more in my twenties. Wish I could go back to those days...
Answer to:
Can a snail live without its shell?
Not really. The snail is 'attached' to his shell - pretty much like a turtle. This is not like a hermit crab who finds an empty shell from some other dead creature and just 'wears' it. The shell is part of the snail.

Why is the Bible so hard to read?
The Bible was written as several books that might (or might not) have been intended to be put together into a single 'book'. Learning more about who wrote each book may give more insight. You can see a common thread through some of them, but it is a stretch in some cases. Try reading each book as an independent entry and you will see more cohesiveness within a given book than is...

Answer to:
Why should I believe in God?
I wonder at times 'how did everything come into being?' or more exactly how did this world with all its complexity occur wherein there are more stars (suns perhaps) than people on the earth. So how do we get something from nothing? I mean the big bang does not explain this - the particles that made the theoretical big bang are SOMETHING. How does something or anything arise from...

Should the Federal government be held accountable for destroying valuable evidence at the WTC? They did break the law...why do you feel they are above it? Omit anti-science.
The people who flew airplanes into our buildings were the ones who 'broke the law' and killed a lot of innocent Americans too. Americans did NOTHING to deserve this. The perpetrators were Islamic fundamentalists bent on Jihad (just like recent terrorist incidents in Spain, Russia, India, Indonesia, Israel, etc. etc.). The concern should be about the desire of a certain large numbers...

Do you know anything about fuzzy logic?
Fuzzy logic is not a 'derogatory' term although I have heard people acuse one another of 'fuzzy logic'. Fuzzy logic is an advanced scientific concept - useful in describing events containing some degree of randomness or in programming an application to approximate a task. When you can not specifically define a programming task you may be able to specifially define a set of...

Do all insects have six legs?
Yes - all insects of the insect family have six legs. Spiders have eight legs and are not insects. Some of us call all creepy crawly things 'bugs' and that is an OK generalization. But a spider is not an insect, nor is a millipede an insect but they can all be called bugs.

Answer to:
Why do spiders scare people more than other types of insects do?
Because they are such unique and precisely methodical predators. Most of them build a web - a trap of sorts that is invisible to their bumbling prey. When the prey stumbles into the web the fear begins - the spider quickly approaches and grapples with the struggling victim - entangling the victim with more and more web. At its first safe opportunity the spider moves in for a quick bite -...

Does turning off your computer save power?
Depends on how long you will leave it off for. If you turn it on and off every chance you get you will burn more power than just leaving it on. The act of 'booting up' requires more power than just sitting there. As a rule of thumb, if you want to save power, turn it off every time you do not plan to use it for a while.

If slavery was allowed today, would you own a slave?
No. It is just wrong.
By the way, most people in the South did NOT own slaves. Mostly just very rich planation owners. The vast majority of southerners were very plain (often poor) farmers, shopowners, craftsmen, etc. Most white southerners didn't really support slavery and did not want so many slaves to be brought in - however by the time of the civil war there were so many slaves,...

What is the craziest thing you've ever done?
One of the craziest:
As a kid, we had a BB Gun battle with some friends in the woods. Some of the older guys had pump BB guns and kept pumping them higher and higher. I stayed low and told them to hold off but they kept firing. My fried next to me was braver and kept popping up to fire from behind the log pile we were behind.
He caught a BB in the forehead about 1" above his eye....

How far below the surface does a hurricane affect the ocean? Do the fish notice what's going on?
My answer is not as good as your question. Here is what I think:
Fish close to shore are affected in that they risk being washed ashore amidst trees buildings etc. They may become beached in the aftermath. Fish further out to say are 'affected' by churning waters (which diminish quickly with depth). Those near the surface may get tossed about a bit more than usual, but it is of no...

Who was the first person to say "nothing is impossible"?
Not sure but I've heard it phrased more commonly 'anything is possible'. However, this should not be confused to imply that any notion we have have is as probable as any other idea. Nor does it imply that any concept is automatically correct since 'anything is possible'. A thing could still be considered 'possible' since we don't know...

Can I change a piece of music from key of C major to D major halfway through the piece?
Sure - but the effect may be seen as either 'powerful and rousing' or 'stilted and awkward' depending on how you do it. My gut inclination (without knowing the piece) is to say just make the jump dramatically rather than ease into it (you are not trying to hide change but accentuate it or highlight it). Many songs make this type of 2 half step key change. Whether from C...

The bible states honor thy father and mother. Suppose they are very evil, then should this still apply?
I think it is implied that you 'honor' them by doing right - even if they are of the sorry type. When you are old enough to make your own decisions, this does not mean 'obeying' them if their 'orders' are flawed or impure in nature.

Why was George W. Bush re-elected?
George Bush was the better choice in both elections and most Americans could see this. His competition was weak and we are lucky they were defeated. If the US and world media were not so biased against bush the margins in his favor would have been huge. He won in spite of the mass media controlled by the left. A large portion of voters pulls the lever based on whatever the media tells them....

Why does the US government think it is unacceptable for other countries to have nuclear weapons, while the US can have them?
We are not concerned if other advanced democracies have nukes. The people in those countries like the US would like to live and not kill. The leaders and some fanatics in Iran want to KILL and some are fully willing to die in order to kill.
Fanatical backwards dictators and nuclear weapons do not make a good combination.

Why weren't Amtrak trains used to evacuate people from New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina hit?
Why didn't the mayor use the city buses to evacuate before it hit?
The real answer is - the evacuation order was given. Most of those who stayed did so of their own free will.
Some of those who stayed did so intentionally to get an opportunity to 'loot' an abandoned city. They didn't expect a flood of this proportion.

However, most of this demolition stuff is from conspiracy theory speculators.

Many other answers focus only on the intellectual freedoms. Most nations are drifting toward socialism and government control of the economy. As governments control more of the economy, people have less freedom to excel or to choose a line of work. Socialists are so concerned with...

What is the difference between the Nazi and the Republican party's doctrines?
The question is assinine. One could ask a similar question like: "Why are democrats and islamic/fascist terrorists spewing out the same anti-American rhetoric these days".
Actually the Nazi party (short for national SOCIALIST party) is more akin to modern democrats than it is to republicans (i.e. big government, the individual is nothing the state is everything, etc.).
