Is the new "I-Pad" (laptop\iphone) all that it's talked up to be?
I just got mine today and I love it! It all depends on what you want to use it for. It is supposed to be a mobile computing and communication device and it does that very well. I love the fact that I have my music, photos, lots of apps all in one place. I read dozens of reviews, some good, some bad. Most of the negative ones don't seem to understand the concept of this computer platform. You...

VOTE for best news source:
I love NPR. It gives in depth news and is informative without being combative or having an agenda like fox. I have a feeling that most people who watch/listen to fox would find NPR to be more informative. Most of the time they have guests expressing opinions from both sides. Fox and CNN is entertainment...NPR is news.

From all the gum in the world can you name one that is your favorite; or that you like the most?
Wrigley's Airwaves gum, menthol and eucalyptus. I can't get it here in the U.S., so I have friends in Germany bring it when they visit. It clears up your nostrils and is not to sweet, but most Americans don't like it because it is not sugary.

Does anyone on AB fly for free because their parent(s) work for the airlines? If so, which airline(s)? How does it work for your airlines because American is free for coach and I've "heard" that United is not free on coach.
Airlines have different tiers of cost for their employees. On United depending on the boarding priority for space available travelers coach can be free. First class and business class (if there is room) can be flown with a service charge. A round trip first class ticket Denver-New York space available for an employee costs roughly around $150. That is super cheap if you think that a regular...

Are Japanese cars the most reliable cars? If so, then whats their secret? If not, then which one is?
I do think Japanese cars are very reliable, and JD Power does back up their claims. But I still think German cars are more fun to drive. They were built for the Autobahn. But the Germans still have a way to go as far as reliability. We have a Subaru and an Audi...I love driving the Audi over the Subaru, but as far as maintenance cost go, man the Audi is expensive!

I fell last night down stairs in a nightclub I'm now in a cast for six weeks :( Have you ever fallen while out on a night out?
Yes, was in a bar in Amsterdam. Very poor lighting. That's what usually causes all of us to fall. I didn't even have a lot to drink. I was walking down narrow stairs, and have awful depth perception in the dark. Missed the bottom stair and landed on my butt and hands. So I had to go to a therapist for several months because it actually messed up my shoulders. Now I walk very slowly in...

Great question! As AB Caitlin emphasized categories are a monster to control and change. She and I are the main moderators that handle categories. We realize that there is a lot of work to do, and we won't please every user, but know that we strive to improve the categories on AB. Just a quick update. As I approve suggested categories I will make sure to make the category names clearer. Not everyone will be happy with our choices of course, but we want to make sure that good suggestions are implemented. So you will start to see clearer category names and well as a...

Why is it that the "Sexuality and Gender" sub-category only comes up about every third time I access "Life & Society?" Is this just a glitch (one of dozens) or an attempt to hide this category?
Caitlin is right, we are having some server problems. It even affects us when we approve categories. We know when we approve a category, go look for it and can't find it--very frustrating. It usually shows up the next day. There is a lag in caching the approved category on the servers. If you don't see it give it about 24 hours. We are sorry about this, and it makes our job harder...

Who are your favorite talking heads among TV news commentators?
I like the McLaughlin Report. They are smart people, and while I may not agree with some of their viewpoints, they are funny and entertaining. I wish more people watched the show vs. reality programs. They would learn a lot more about what is happing in this country and around the world. And I like the way John ends the show with his unique "bye-bye". :-)

Finally had a chance to look at the video. It was very interesting. I think that the tank was a Tiger I. Check out this wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_I

Who is the best tank commander in the world and why
I think Erwin Rommel. The German Field Marshal fought and commanded very well against the French and British in early stages of the war, but his defining moments were in the North African battles against the British. I think he could have won, if Hitler had provided him with more resources. He was very close to fighting all the way to the Suez canal, which could have changed the course of the war.

HELP, why did my bookmarks and history vanish on all six of my web browsers after I cleaned up my mac computer? They're acting like they are newly installed! I deleted programs I wasn't using, but I didn't touch the web browsers....! How do I regain them?
Try restarting your mac. Then reopen Safari and under history try the reopen all windows from last session. You may be able to at least open the last window sessions. I don't know how you lost all of your bookmarks unless you reinstalled Safari. If you are using Apple Time Machine you may be able to go back to an earlier time/or version. Is it possible to createa new categories for AB questions? I often find they're not representative/inclusive enough.
I would also add that when you suggest a topic, you do a quick search in AB for the topic you hope to suggest. A lot of times the topic you suggest is nested as a sub category in a parent category in either a completely different subject area or in a related subject area. But all category suggestions are looked at and most of the time they are really helpful.

Good question! I think that Germany would only have just bought itself a short bit of time. The industrial might of the Allies was still growing, while that of Germany was waning. Apples have fiber (pectin) which vitamins don't have. Fiber is important to keep you regular, and help with insulin and sugar levels if you suffer from diabetes. Plus it will make you feel fuller so you eat less. Also, some of the vitamins and nutrients found in apples are not in vitamins. Apples taste better too!

Keep bread in the fridge or elsewhere?
Bread tends to stay edible longer if it is stored in the refrigerator, however, it tends to also dry it out. It is best kept at room temperature, however it will not last as long and spoil, especially in humid climates. The best way I think is to slice it, then freeze it. You can then take out pieces at a time, either to defrost at room temperature, or toast.

Most blogs do have the latest postings at the top. That way your viewers can immediately see what you have posted or written instead of having to scroll down to the bottom. Most readers don't want to do a lot of scrolling. You can still have a standard intro at the top to let readers know about the policies and information contained in your blog.

What does being gay have to do with wearing a pink or any colored mini-skirt? Maybe you aren't gay, but just like to dress up in women's clothes. There are lots of straight men that are into that and maybe you like women's clothes more than you like men. The less dramatic choice would be to just tell her. Unless you happen to be a drama queen.

There is no husband and wife in most gay relationships. Power sharing shifts from one person to the other at different times. Did Hitler underemphasize the importance of fighter aircraft?
I don't really think so. The Germans had some very good fighter aircraft, ME 109's and Focke Wulf 190 for example. And of course the ME 262 jet. However, when that was first developed Hitler wanted it to be a bomber, and it was more suited for a fighter. Only later, did he reverse his decision when he realized he needed a better defense against the allied bomber raids. But by then it...

Answer to:
President Bush wants Americans to reduce their energy consumption by 20% by 2010. Is this do-able?
Yes, President Bush wants us to reduce our energy usage, yet he continually threatens to reduce or veto Amtrak funding. Rail transportation is the most fuel efficient of all transit modes. If we had increased passenger rail transit in the U.S. then we could cut our energy dependence. So zeroing out Amtrak's budget leads me to believe Bush is not serious.

Airlines have different policies concerning window blinds. Most airlines don't insist on having the blinds open, the only exceptions are window blinds in an exit row. They must be kept open to determine if there is a fire or obstructions outside the exit after a crash that may prevent the flight attendants from opening the exit. You don't want to open an exit if there is a fire...

How can you tell if you spouse really loves you?
I think that you can tell if your spouse loves you if he or she truly takes the time to sit down and listen to you. If they look into your eyes while you tell them the good or bad things of the day and how you feel, and they listen with no judgement--then that is a big way to say I love you.
