Could you give some reasons why we must wear socks before we put on our shoes?
Well, I think there are many reasons which people have given.
However, I haven't worn socks or tights for years as due to severe arthritis I cannot bend to put them on very easily.
I wear trousers all the time and when it's cold warm boots.
Fortunately, I do not suffer from sweaty feet and given the choice would far rather wear socks under my trousers if I could.

I have had verrucas on my feet for more than six years.
However, I finally have got rid of them on one foot and almost on the other foot.
I simply put a dab of nail varnish on them. Without air they die. I wish I had known this before, much simpler than anything else I have tried.
After my bath, I just put a blob on.

Not sure what it's like in the rest of the world but for example in the UK there are many, many churches looking after the homeless, providing food and shelter for them.

You could try gargling with TCP, not nice stuff but it really kills the germs. You must dilute it with water as per instructions on the bottle.
If you don't have any, gargling in soluble aspirin is good too.

If there was ID I would contact the owner, if not I would hand it in to the police. They have to give you a receipt for it so there would be no question of the money being taken.
In the UK if is remains unclaimed for a period of time they are obliged to pass it back to you but I would hope that the person would think to go to the police for it.

Of course. Everyone makes mistakes however hard we may try not to but the most important thing of all is to say sorry.
By apologising to your child he/she will learn by example and grow up into a socially acceptable adult.
For me, I think far more highly of someone who has made a mistake, owned up and apologised for it over someone who has glossed over it in an attempt to cover it up.

Do you think it is right to force a child to sit there and finish everything on their plate?
I don't like waste and children may need encouragement to eat vegetables.
I think small portions are best, a little of everything, after all if they are really hungry they can always have seconds.
I can remember my son aged two ate so little, his head looked too big for his body. Now he is a strapping chap well over 6 ft.
I think the quality of what they eat is more important...

Do you think someone is annoying when they only talk to themselves (thinking out loud) when you are around them? I have no idea why they would do this, probably because they want attention?
Not sure that it is attention seeking so much as how they concentrate on what they're doing or want to do.
I have only come across this in older people or very small children.

Difficult.
However, there is a saying "he doth protest too much" sometimes saying nothing speaks volumes.

Good luck.

Well I have owned rabbits in the past but have never been nipped by them.
I guess they are just like dogs some nip, some don't.
I would have thought having a young one and handling it a lot at the beginning would ensure that it doesn't turn into a nippy one.

I often think that being flooded with so much bad news it can create a situation artifically. I am not saying that there wouldn't be recession but I wonder if it wouldn't be so dire.
I think that type of news have the effect of making people act differently to how they would normally.

A friend of mine had a child aged 44 and everything is fine. In fact, apparently your whole body rejuvinates when you are pregnant so in fact it could help to keep you young.
Why don't you just leave it to nature and see what happens.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

My brother did with my cousin once
They hadn't seen each other for years and met at an elderly relative's funeral. My Aunt was ill and couldn't go so my cousin linked arms with her Dad (our uncle) she looks very much like her mum and my brother initially thought it was his aunt (her mother).
I guess the fact that she had linked arms with her Dad threw him a bit.

What is being balanced in a balanced diet?
I think varied diet, in other words not eating the same meal on the same day each week. As although that would be seven different meals which could be construed as varied.
It is important to ring the changes with what you eat particularly eating as bigger variety as possible of fruit and vegetable.
That way your body should have everything it needs without the need for supplements.

Do you think it is proper for people to mention how much money things cost? Example, you compliment them on a great sofa, or an item and they give you money related answers like "it was cheap" or "I got it for a great price", "it didn't cost much", etc?
Strange you ask that as I have this discussion with my husband as his parents always ask how much things cost.
In my mind, if it is something that they are thinking of buying I see no harm in it but they ask about absolutely everything which I find annoying.
For example, last time they were down his mum asked how much my laptop was. I just said I didn't know as it was bought for me...

Is there anyone in your life that will ONLY help you IF you compensate them. Anytime my mother does anything for me (takes me to MD, etc). she says it is MY DUTY to repay her. Anyone else understand or am I alone here?
My take on this is that children do not ask to be born.
Therefore, I believe parents have a duty through their choice of having children to do their very best to bring up their children. This does not mean spoiling and giving them everything they want but ensuring that all basic needs are met.
With regard to children and parents I firmly believe that they should assist their parents...

Hey I always get into disagreements with GEnesis fans about this: Was the band better when Peter GAbriel lead or Phil Collins? I say Phil,he's the greater musician and they reached superstardom with him leading right?
I liked Genesis with Phil.
However, it would be wrong to use the word "prefer" since I really only got into Genesis when Phil was lead singer. All the concerts I went to was Phil.
However, that said, my ex husband had all the Genesis albums and I also enjoyed their older albums but am much more familiar with their work with Phil.
I fancy listening to their music now!!!

I am an attractive female (25 yr/o) working in an office environment. My boss is trying to get me to sleep with him and is promising me a raise/promotion. I desperately want to succeed at this job. What should I do?
Well you could.
However:
1. He could be making false promises to get his wicked way with you.
2. How would you feel in say ten years time knowing that you had only go where you are because of sexual favours?
3. Conversely, he could then have a hold over you which, when you meet The One, he may use against you. Then the whole fiasco backfires.
Just think if you get the...
Answer to:
Would you expect to know THE TRUTH about your significant other's sexual history or does it not matter?
I think it can affect how you think of them now if you knew everything when really it doesn't matter.
Experiences, good or bad, make us what we are today.
Also, it would be all too easy in an argument to throw up something that happened in the past before you met which could have an adverse effect on an otherwise good relationship.

A friend of mine is always inviting me to come stay the weekend with her, but she is just a SLOB and very messy - I rather not be in a house like that even for a day, how do I nicely tell her no ?- I am running out of excuses!!
Just say you don't sleep well in other beds and that you prefer to go home and sleep in yours.
That way you could just keep the visit short.
Are you able to invite her to yours? If so, she may see how differently you live and perhaps your good clean habits may rub off on her.

When I opened the door in my pyjamas to Jehovahs Witnesses.
I had gone downstairs in my pjs as my husband was sleeping and I didn't want to disturb him and the doorbell rang unexpectedly.

Should people over 65 be required to take a road test when they renew their driving license?
Yes, I think they should. Often they do not decide to give up driving until something major has happened.
I have noticed that a lot of elderly people's cars are often covered in small dents, marks and scratches which are probably done whilst parking, or taking their car out of the garage. This suggests that perhaps they have lots of minor incidents rather than major.
After all, if...

I only really have 3 close friends in my life, and not really anybody else. Is it better to have the very small amount of good friends, but sometimes be a bit lonely, or to be surrounded a lot of friends that you perhaps don't really know?
For me, I would sooner have a few select friends rather than a whole host of acquaintances.
Think of it another way, when you have lots it is possible that you would not be really close to any one of them. Great for partiesm going out etc.
But, when the chips are down maybe there just isn't enough closeness to really get you through.
Conversely, if you have fewer friends, you get...

This question and the various answers have really made me thing.
There are a whole host of things our bodies can survive ok without.
Here is a thought, what is the basic minimum a body could have and still live?
If we can live without spleen, one kidney, appendix, tonsils, adenoids, teeth, sight, hearing, legs.
How many of these things could be missing on one person?

To be honest the best thing is to do nothing. Once he gets a reaction from you that will motivate him into carrying on with this puerile behaviour.
Your current boyfriend sounds a nice guy, he doesn't believe him so why go down to your ex's level. It must seem more and more obvious to you why you have moved on.

My first child only around eight weeks. I was really determined to do better with the second child, I fed him until he was almost a year.

A dentist told me once that if you are on a diet it can cause bad breath, all the stomach acids coming up or something.
I heard that eating raw parsley can help breath problems and perhaps brushing your tongue.
However, I see you have varied and comprehensive replies from others that all equally seem helpful too.

Why do most of the men stress themselves about Hair loss?
Good point. I have a very good friend who worries about it, and I say it really doesn't matter.
My husband, has a very thick head of hair, is always going on about his bald spot too.
Answer to:
My husband wants me to change. He doesn't like the way I look, the way I do the things. As I have been home maker since marriage. He doesn't even like the way I take care of house. He complaints more and appretiates less. How can I change myself?
I don't think you're the problem, he is.
He so used to coming home and everything done he would soon realize what a gem you are if you weren't there for a bit and suddenly everything you do he takes for granted hasn't been done.
You could try being extra sweet to him and then going away to stay with a friend for a bit and I bet he would change his ways then.

Yes, it seems a shame that people don't take more care with their written work.

In a law firm, what type of receptionist is best - what would you like to encounter as a client? My partner wants a 19 year-old glamour-puss but I think an older professional type (m/f) would be better. Serious opinions please? Need to hire soon!
An older professional type is better since they have experience in handling clients. They may initially like someone who is good to look at but the reality is they expect efficiency as law is a serious subject.

You can't really have an opinion on something unless you know about it for yourself. Whether you continued to go or not is another matter but something can be learned from everything which overall makes one a more informed person.

MY pc is functioning slower than usual. Could Itunes cause a slowdown?
When my pc runs slow, I take off all the software and do a clean install. Everything speeds up immensely.
My hard drive is partitioned so that I only format the partition that holds the software, I store my work on a separate partition that I don't touch.
If you have not done this you will need to save all your work, music, photos etc. before carrying out a clean install.
What...

Do you expect others to live up to higher standards, lower standards or the same standards as you?
I guess that one usually judges other people by their own standards which probably mostly works since you tend to mix with similar people.
However, can be a shock when you associate with someone with different standards, doesn't mean either of you is right or wrong just different.
However, it can also be interesting and enable one to get out of a rut.

My Mom passed away almost a year ago. Uncontrollable circumstances put me back at home. My Dad is fully capable body and mind to look after his home and himself - but he doesn't. I can't stay there any longer, am I a bad daughter for leaving?
No, you are not, if you stay your relationship with your father will deteriorate if you leave and visit regularly you will carry on enjoying a good relationship with him.
The longer you stay the more you will become his crutch, move on whilst you can, he will eventually get his life back on track. With you doing everything for him this may become more distant.
