Answer to:
If what I am is determined by my genes and my environment, and every part of me obeys the laws of physics, then any choice I make in life will be governed by the laws of physics. So how can anyone believe in free will?
To believe in free will is to believe in chance - that is, in the possibility of more than one 'path' along time (if we think of time as a line)
It is the belief that which path we travel down is chosen by the individual.
More importantly, it is an illusion.
Think of a coin - if you flip it, you cannot say with any authority what side it will land on.
And there you have real, solid proof...

Is art created for itself or its perceiver? Once the audience is realised by the artist, is the art altered or corrupted by the knowledge?
You should totally read George Orwells ideas on art at the beginning of "The Picture of Dorian Gray"
So I'll copy and paste it :D
"The artist is the creator of beautiful things. To reveal art and
conceal the artist is art's aim. The critic is he who can translate
into another manner or a new material his impression of beautiful
things.

Answer to:
Are the witches in Macbeth real or are they a part of Macbeths mental desires?why?
The witches represent a deeper, evil force - namely Hecate, since she appears in act _ scene _ (I really can't remember, I think it's Act 4 Scene 1) - however if you're gonna refer to that scene you should probably add that there is some doubt among scholars as to whether shakespeare actually wrote this scene himself.
But yeah, the witches are real, and as was mentioned above me, a...

Ok..i have a huge problem..i like this guy..but i am already datin some one..me and him have been datin for a year now and i do like him..But i have a lot of feelings for some one else,I no that it is unfair to him that i like some one else.Who do i date?
Well, I'm strongly averse to cheating(or similar), but still - if you actually like the guy you are with already, you have been with him for a year, and I think you owe it to him to stay with him. If you are still considering hopping from one guy to the next after a year then something needs sorting. It's just not fair on the other guy, whatever you do, -do- -not- -cheat- : just break...

I agree, people like that need a short, sharp shock to realise that they could lose what they have over being so stupid. Call a break, even if you might not manage to get a new boyfriend all that easy, you can show him that you can be interested in other guys too. If you want him back afterwards, make sure you stay in touch, but talk to him casually - don't act like you need him back, make...

Assuming the universe can take an interest in anything, since it's just a bunch of rocks moving in curves (Terry Pratchett)

Love is the opposite of death - discuss =]lo
I guess common sense points to the opposite being hate, however, hate and love are sort of similar. The opposite of love is closer to apathy, or indifference. This is also the opposite of hate.
If you think of love and hate as two extremes at both ends of a scale, you could conclude that, yes, the opposite of one end would have to be the other end of this "scale" (if you're...

What should I do, give up?
Well, I'm not sure which culture you come from, but I have to say I doubt that, or there'd be a hell of a lot of people like you. Perhaps you are just generally shy around the opposite sex, or you are reluctant to enter into a relationship because you don't have the confidence, or perhaps you just missed the signs.. either way, I've never heard of a culture like that.

How much you take notice of other peoples feelings depends on your personality! You make a question about generalised prejudice, that is so riddled with generalised prejudice it's untrue haha :P
I guess I know what you mean though. Thing to remember is, the ones with the more radical views tend to be the ones who get noticed more, and it's them who everyone bases their opinions on, so mass-prejudice is never accurate.

Do you think what makes an atheist is a whole lot of unfortunate things that happen in a particular persons life?
I have led a pretty sheltered life. I am an atheist, even though I went to church on sundays as a child.

There would be less deadlines, less stress, less social friction, but in the same sense there would be no organisation - how ever would we support a large population without an infrastructure to supply us? That is a pretty tough one o.0 It could be a personification (as in a person) or a grain of sand (representing the hourglass)

well, there are meant to be '7' sins, but they are just large categories. You can also sin in word, thought, and deed, so that would be 7 x 3 at the very least, then each major sin 'category' would have its respective sub-categories.. Erm, I trust you are talking about fiction here?
Well, most books/films that try to place vampires in a good light show them only taking what they need, usually while the 'victim' is asleep.

Do you believe it's wrong to forgive someone who has cheated on you? Do you believe it's wrong to forgive the person/people who helped your s/o cheat as well? To both of these questions, why or why not?
It would depend on the circumstances, I suppose.. If you are going to forgive them, let them believe that you aren't for a short while. You don't want them thinking you are too lenient.
At the end of the day, it's all about you. If -you- want this relationship, do it, regardless of the consequences. If you feel knowing they cheated would make you unhappy, then the relationship...

My wife found a condom in my 14 yr. old sons bedroom. She got mad and wanted me to punish him. I told her to put it back. be quiet, and be thankful he has the maturity to use them. She's mad at both of us now. Was I wrong?
Just because he has a condom doesn't mean he is actually going to use one.. And also, in response to WiseOne - if you are going to have radical opinions, please don't press them on other people. Nowadays, teenagers are MUCH more aware of how to avoid unwanted pregnancies and the like, "use protection!" is preached at them most days at school, protection is easy to come...

Why does science keep insisting that Near death experiences, and all things paranormal can not be proven. Do they really thing this many people could all be making up the same story?
I'll add to that last answer, that almost any vision had during a near death experience could be crowned the Afterlife. I could have a near death experience tomorrow, and see a football or something, and come back preaching that the Afterlife clearly favours footballers.
Equally, anyone who hallucinates a field, or a mountain, or their own back garden, has witnessed exactly that. Nothing...

Very few people have claimed to have witnessed any form of afterlife during a near death experience.
The validity of this evidence is mitigated further by the fact that during a near-death experience, the brain is starved of oxygen. In this state, any thoughts and experiences are highly untrustworthy.
I'm sure it is suffice to say though, that a 'nearly-dead' brain, starved of...

Are jellyfish eggs harmful to touch?
I would assume that because jellyfish toxins are secreted by glands and injected by specialised cells, eggs would not be toxic for two reasons:
Firstly, the glands would not yet have been made, and as a result the toxins wouldn't be secreted.
Secondly, the 'injector' cells would not be developed before the stem cells in the egg have a chance to form a working organism. It seems...

Why is combustion exothermic? I thought breaking bonds was endothermic?... Someone tell me where the flaw in my logic is!
Right, so.. A reaction can be described as bond breaking followed by bond forming, so if you burnt something simple like a hydrocarbon.. It wouldn't take in much energy breaking the bonds. So after the bonds are broken, the carbons would bond with the oxygen, and then the hydrogens bond to each other because they are diatomic.. So there's actually more bonds being made than being...
