Why do some people think that using "Oh my God" as an exclamation, is taking God's "name" in vain? God is not his "name". It is merely a title, which can be used for more than just "Yahweh".
In my belief, God is the only god, no matter what His true name is, when I speak of God or a god, He knows I am refering to Him because He is the only one. So, therefore, if I am using a reference to Him casually, or as a curse for hitting my thumb with a hammer, or excitement over a Birthday present, that is blasphemy. It is like when I was a kid, when I said "Dad", my dad knew I was...

I agree with pointeman1, the M-14 is an awsome rifle. I was a firing range instructor in the military for three years and I fell in love with the M14. That bad boy on auto will really rock and roll.

Answer to:
Why would any sane person want to own an automatic rifle?
What difference does it make if a law abiding citizen has an automatic rifle? I am not going to use it for robbing a bank, I am not going to attack a McDonald's with one, unless they get my order wrong again. So if I had one and used it, it would only be out on a firing range somewhere. That would not hurt you would it? Or anyone else. Oh, yeah, the "someone might break into your...

What are some of your favorite romantic things/moments? (I encourage dreaming and hypothetical situations!)
I think it was in the movie "A Touch Of Class", where at the end of the movie he had set a table on the roof of a skyscraper in NYC, it was at night, a violinist playing softly, he brought her up to a candle light dinner with all the city around them, roses on the centerpiece. That would be something I would like to do. Maybe it wasnt that movie, I cant remember. I just remember the...

What do you think about Cop Watch?
I think it is great! There needs to be a citizen check on police. Sometimes they get too zealous in their attempt to corral a suspect. But, having been a police officer, I know that sometimes when a person is resisting you have to be forceful to get them into handcuffs and the adrinaline gets to flowing and you have to maintain control of the situation it is easy to let it get out of hand....

When I was about 6 years old I got the hiccups at my grandma's house and she gave me a teaspoon full of granulated sugar, just like you sweeten tea or coffee with and the hiccups went away immediately. I have used that ever since and it works for me.

My husband went on a drinking binge two months ago. He sneaks a beer now and then and claims its the last. Should I be leary he has change or will binge again. He claims he a Christian? I am and don't drink!!!
A person can be an alcoholic and be a Christian. However, if he is a Christian, he will be trying his best to get that stronghold off. Prayer and vigilant faith goes a long way. I know it helped me with my addiction. Being a Christian doesnt mean a person wont sin anymore. Everyone sins, everyday, someway.

"Many U.S. immigrants can't read prescription labels." What can be done to help the millions of people (not just immigrants and not just in the US) who cannot read prescription labels?
Screw that printing in other languages, learn English or do with out. I would be expected to learn French if I moved to France or the language of whatever country I move to, so why can't immigrants or illegal aliens learn English? Thats why we are being over run with illegals now because everyone wants to coddle their asses.

I lost my wife on Thanksgiving Day 1999, and I still think of her every day, wanting to talk to her, hold her, tell her I love her. Time has made it easier, but you never forget them and you can still love them very much. You are not crazy, just lonely for him. That is ok. You are not alone. Tithing IS required of Christians
Giving to the Lord is an important principle in both the Old and New Testaments, and obedience in tithing-which is giving one-tenth of your income-is a good place to start. I would say that because of the thin hollow body it would be better suited for blues or country sound, but I am sure a talented rocker could put it to good use. Answer to:
Why is it that when a girl cheats on a guy she's a whore and noone should be with her, but when a guy cheats on a girl he's a hero?
Well, not everyone feels that way,iiNSANE. I think if a guy cheats on his girlfriend he will carry it over into his married life and that is never good. It doesnt seem like anyone tries to build character and self-dicipline anymore. Everyone only thinks of instant gratification and short term pleasure. It is never good for either a girl or a guy to cheat on their partners. If the partner is not...

I cannot imagine anyone kidnapping me with out a gun. So if they did succeed in kidnapping me, I would be patient and watch for an opportune time to take that gun away from them, and/or get away. If I did succeed in getting the gun away from them, I would then call for a hearse to come pick them up. If I could not get the gun, I would just try to get away at the first opportunity.

And I actually fold everything as I take it out of the dryer. I use Tide liquid detergent, and those little smelly sheets in the dryer.

Which part of the Bible do you find most unrealistic?
Personaly, I dont know why anyone would not believe all of the Bible if they were going to believe any of it. I find it easier to accept someone telling me they dont believe any of it rather than, "Well, I believe somethings, but not all of it." Not living for Christ back in my younger years instead of spending all my time and money on motorcycles, fast cars, whiskey, and women. If humans have developed different languages, customs, and mannerisms, why is the smile, laughter, and the frown universal? Is there a culture where a smile is considered a sign of unhappiness or laughing is the same as what I consider crying?
I have been around the world three times. I have been to many different countries in my military career and everywhere I have been the smile always says the same thing. That does not mean that every one who smiles at you is your friend or can be trusted. But a genuine smile speaks the same every where I have been, that goes for the frown also. Yes, we got spankings, on our butts, with a razor strap or a belt. They did not beat us, they spanked us. There was a little "ceremony" type thing that went on, first we were told what we were getting a spanking for. Answer to:
Do you think people should be a licensed bartender to get a job bartending?
No. I dont think a license is needed to be a bartender. All a license is, is just another way to tax the individual. Just another way for the city, county, or state to get more money out of a person. In Texas, I dont know about other states, but here I can go get a license without any experience at all. So a license doesnt mean anything as far as I can see except that the state has taxed you...

Do Catholics believe that you can get to heaven if you are "good enough?" What exactly defines being "good enough?"
I dont believe a person goes to heaven for being good any more than they go to hell for being bad. You go to heaven if you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and ask forgivness of your sins, realizing that all men are sinners, and that Jesus died to atone for those sins. You repent,(turn away) from your sins and start on a path to follow Jesus' teachings. Dont worry, you are still going to...

Answer to:
Is there any way to challenge a rating, particularly a negative rating when you did your best to be helpful and got dinged by an idiot/troll?
Actually, no, because right above the buttons for "helpful" and "not helpful" are the words, " What do you think of this answer?". So, therefore, if someone thinks your answer stinks, then they have the option of rating it "Not helpful". Although your answer may,in fact be helpful, is not always enough to maintain a good vote.

Have you ever broken a window? ( smashed, shattered)
When I was about ten years old, I was sitting in the living room putting a piece of an old bicycle inner tube on my slingshot, and I was testing the amount of pull it had. That in itself would have been ok, but I put a 3/8" nut in the pouch and it slipped out of my hand and I broke out the sliding door that led outside from the dining room. My dad was not impressed with my accuracy.

Is it entrapment if the police attempt to catch child molesters on the internet by pretending to be juveniles?
My stand on this is if the person was not on the computer talking to kids, he would not have been enticed to answer the sting. Having been in law enforcement, I would have to say that is because you must put up with people every day that take your job for granted. Did he just rob the Choke N Spit Deli? And no one is ever guilty of what you...
