If you have an expunged criminal record can you rent an apartment? I had a felony expunged from my record in May of this year and I was able to get an apartment. I had to go through an Indianapolis attorney, paid $500 and it is supposedly no longer on my record. Best of luck to you.

Good rule of thumb, if they wouldn't do it when your were standing next to them, they shouldn't be doing it at all- this also works in reverse. Any time I question an action I'm taking, I think whether I'd be doing or saying it if my husband was with me, if the answer is no, I don't do it.

I have a friend who has a DUI from over 15 years ago and could not get into Canada and I have a friend who travels extensively and is able to get into certain countries but has to fill out loads of paperwork before he was able to gain entry. Every state has an Offenders Database that will tell you their charges, how much time they are serving and when their earliest possible release is- you can look them up by name or DOC #. If it's jail and you know the name, you can Google the jail or the county to find out. It's relatively easy to find.
