Answer to:
Which part/s of the Bible condemns Gay relationships, any parts that condone it?
Several places in the New Testament, especially the writings of St. Paul, condemn fornication and sodomy. Homosexual acts have always been condemned by the Church and again condemned in the Catechism of the Catholic Church in paragraph 2357. http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc/para/2357.htm
That said, people who engage in this disordered activity must always be treated with charity and respect. Love...

Answer to:
Was Pope Pius II a bigger Nazi than Joe Ratzinger(Pope)?
regularg,
Anti-Catholic hacks can not prove it. They are blind to the truth that the Holy Father actually hid Jews in the Vatican during the war. There is ample documentation to support this, but the anti-Catholic bigots are either ignorant about it or turn a blind eye to it.
Answer to:
did jesus have a brother or sister
spreader, follow your (faulty) logic, when St. Paul is writing literally to thousands of people addressing them as his "brothers and sisters", then it must mean that his mother was very, very, busy.
Mary had no other children besides Jesus. All who say otherwise are demonstrating a profound ignorance of how reverent Jews treated the dwelling place of God. The Old Testament tells what happened...
Answer to:
What councils of the early church addressed the issue of papal infallibility and/or primacy? Was the first Vatican council the first to bring up the idea in an ecuminical council?
Directly, Vatican I was the first council to clarify the Tradition of the Church in this regard.
The teaching itself goes back to the Jerusalem Council. You can read about it in Acts. For centuries afterwards, after the pope ruled on something, it would be said "Peter has spoken through the mouth of Leo" or whoever was the pope that gave the teaching.
The Church has never taught...

Answer to:
What is a Quasi-Catholic? Is it someone who believes the fantasical elements of Catholism, like beliefs on life, death, heaven, hell and purgatory, but not the strict rules of no abortions, being against gays etc.
See the definition of the word "heretic".
If someone claims to be Catholic and willfully rejects a teaching they know, then the correct term is "formal heretic". If they objectively reject teachings due to ignorance (i.e. because they are under-Catechized or received bad teaching), then the correct term is "material heretic".
Examples: (1) A Catholic that...

He "interferes" all the time.
He creates human souls from nothing every day. He makes himself present to us every day at Mass in the most Holy Sacrifice of the Altar so that we may do as he commanded in John 6.
Man, without the constant "interference" (a.k.a. Grace) from God would sink to the lowest levels of hell as long as God holds him in existence.

What is the Catholic belief regarding tattoos and body piercing?
The reasons for the tattoos and body piercing have a lot to do with the possible existence and degree of sin.
If your intent was to purposely mark yourself in such a way as to blaspheme Christ, his Mother or any of his friends (the saints), then this would clearly be a sin.

Answer to:
Does 1 John 5: 7-8 prove the Trinity? or was it added to the bible which is know as "Johannine Comma"?
No.
The existence of the Trinity is known by Faith and is a Dogma of the Catholic Church. Catholics believe this Dogma because the Catholic Church teaches it. Catholics believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God because the Catholic Church teaches this also.
The Bible came from the Catholic Church. All other ecclesiastical communities ultimately rest on the Bible and private...

Why do some say you go to hell for commiting suicide?when nowhere in the Bible does it say that.
Some say this because they don't know what they are talking about. Not everything that Christ did or taught is in the Bible. Further, Christ established an authoritative and teaching Church.
Every book, even the Bible, needs an authentic, authoritative interpreter. Since the Bible came from the Catholic Church, then the Catholic Church should be considered as the authentic,...

I think so. There used to be welfare inspectors in N.Y. 50 or 60 years ago that would not permit this nonsense. I doubt that they have any real power today.

Hilaire Belloc writes that Mohammedanism is heresy. Like all heresies, it borrows bits and pieces from authentic Christian teaching and blends them with errors. As the Catholic Church teaches, direct abortion is murder of an innocent child. The Church is simply codifying what is written in the hearts of men by God. Everyone, even godless pagans, knows that it is wrong to murder an innocent child. Everyone knows the truth that when a woman is pregnant, that there is a child in the womb.

What do you think of my philosophy that "if there is absolutely no hope at winning, don't try"?
The premise of your philosophy relies on having perfect knowledge as to whether or not there is hope of winning.
Since your knowledge is not perfect, the premise is potentially false and the conditional part would be invalid.
In summary, your philosophy is inherently illogical.

Does God suffer (from a traditional Christian point of view)? (This is for school).
Catholicism (and Orthodox Christianity) teach that God is impassible and definitely does not suffer. This has been the teaching of Christianity through the Church for 2000 years (or since 1054 in the case of the Orthodox).
Jesus, a divine person, the God-Man, the Incarnation of the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, entered time and space and most certainly did suffer. In this mystery...

Yes. The sidewall profile is the "70" or "65" of the size. So for a 215/70, the sidewall height is 215mm * 70% = 150.5mm. For the 215/65, the sidewall height is 215 * 65% = 139.75.

HOW IS IT THAT OUR ECONOMY IS WORSE WHEN THE STOCK MARKET IS UP, OIL PRICES ARE GOING WAY DOWN, AND THE DOLLAR IS STRONGER? COMPARED TO LAST SPRING AND INTO THE SUMMER WHEN THE STOCK MARKET WAS OK AND OIL PRICES WERE SKY HIGH AND THE DOLLAR WAS DOWN.
Short answer is that people aren't repaying their loans, particularly their mortgages. This is causing certain investment vehicles called mortgage backed securities (MBS) to be worth a great deal less than what was thought. This causes financial institutions to be less willing to lend money, which slows down the economy.

I just found out recently that my Significant Other is Pro-Life and under no circumstance would she get an abortion while I am Pro-Choice. Where do you stand on the issue with your s/o and how do you reconcile the differences? Would it be a deal breaker?
I'll bet that your significant other still loves you even though you think it is OK to murder unborn children. That's just how pro-life people are -- their characteristics are to love all people -- born, unborn, very young, very old.
Simply never ask you significant other to murder an unborn child and you should have no problems.

Couple of thoughts. No doubt a DR is coming for this but here it goes.
1) You have no parental authority over them. They have a mother, and it's not you.
2) You can ask them to act properly in your home. If they do not comply, turn the matter over to their parents.
3) Again, "we tell them" is non-sequitur. From their perspective, there is no "we" because you...

I believe that life begins at conception. Embryology proves it. But people with a pro-abortion mindset engage in all kinds of mental gymnastics to ignore the self-evident fact that there is a human baby in the womb.
They go on and on with their sophistries going so far as to say that killing a carrot is the same as murdering an unborn child (I kid you not!)

I don't know. But here's what I do know.

No. The bailout is a bad idea.
Mr. Buffett is biased. He has nearly all of his material wealth in the stock market. He knows that much (all) of the banking system is insolvent so he wants to stave off the day of reckoning as long as possible. Just because someone professes the Christian faith does not mean they are perfect.

Yes, provided your desire to convert remains in the realm of your parents permissive will. In such a case, know that God takes the will for the deed.

The Catholic Church does not explicitly teach that Judas, or any other particular person, is in Hell.
Answer to:
Which religion is true?
Only Catholicism has the fullness of Divine revelation.
Just look at the moral teaching of every other church on earth and compare it to the unchangeable moral teaching of the Catholic Church. Most other Christian churches permit abortion (murder of the innocent) for "serious personal reasons". The Catholic Church defends all life, especially the lives of innocent unborn children...

What is the main difference between roman cathollic church and baptist church beliefs?
Look at the difference in the moral teachings of the Catholic Church and the Baptist churches:

Catholicism teaches that murder of the innocent (abortion and human experimentation (aka embryonic stem cell research) is never allowed.
Catholicism teaches that artificial contraception is evil and never allowed (The Baptists used to...

Why are there so many different Christian Churches?
Christ taught one set of doctrine, and since Christ is God and God cannot contradict himself, none of the doctrine is contradictory.

On what teaching is purgatory based?
The doctrine of the Catholic faith regarding Purgatory, like all Catholic doctrines, is to be believed because it is taught by the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church that Jesus himself founded.
We Catholics walk by faith and not by sight. We preach Christ crucified. Jesus set up One infallible Church teaching one faith (Matt 16, Eph 4) with his authority (John 20, Matt 28).

Catholics, I'm a christian and we believe in one God, who sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. How are we different?
We are different because we believe different things. As a Catholic, I believe in the revelation of God, transmitted orally or written down (1 Thess 2, 2 Thess 2).
The tradition of Sola Scriptura (Bible alone) is not found anywhere in the Bible. It was invented by Martin Luther, a disobedient Catholic, in the 16th century.

Are you a worse sinner than Mary Magdeline? I didn't think so.
Don't fall into the trap of interspersing feelings with faith. Christianity is about loving (an act of the will) built upon faith (knowing what to believe, an act of the intellect). Feelings are not in the equation.

You said your marriage was annulled. That means, in the eyes of God, there was no marriage as adjudicated by His Church, the Catholic Church.
Since there was no marriage, there can be no divorce. So the remark in another response of "the church does not support divorce in any way" is one, not true; and two, non-sequitur to your situation. One can not obtain a divorce if one was...

No. Just as Jesus let people leave Him in John 6, He honors the free will He gave people and they are free to leave His Church if they will to.

Here's some good resource that you may find helpful on Mormonism from a Catholic Priest that became a Mormon for a time.

Answer to:
Would you consider today's environmentalist movement a form of religion?
"There is nothing new under the sun."
In its extreme, I consider it a form of Pantheism. Both Judaism and Christianity have the teaching of being a good steward of creation. Judaeo-Christian teaching, the foundation of civilization, state that the beasts and the earth are for people.
The Environmentalist movement teaches the opposite-- that the people are here for the earth and...

If there is only one God then why is there so many religions practiced?
Before Christ, there were the Jews who were monotheistic in a world of paganism and polytheism. Over the centuries, God prepared the Jews for his coming by prophecy. But He came in a way many of them did not expect -- as a Divine Person. Many of them, particularly the Pharisees, did not recognize Him as Emmanuel. He allowed them to put Him to death in accordance with His plan to affect...

Say I buy a good domain name from GoDaddy.com (or another reputable domain hawker) and attempt to resell it to someone. How does this process work?
Last time I purchased a domain name, I did it through a domain escrow company. I used www.sedo.com. There were no problems and the process was very easy.
Answer to:
What is the best firewall protection for a home computer?
Software firewalls (ones that run on the computer) are adequate, but they do not offer as much protection as a hardware firewall. Many routers (Linksys, D-link, etc.) are also hardware firewalls.
If you attach your computer directly to your cable modem or DSL and are running Windows, you are asking for trouble. Ideally, you should hook up a router/firewall in between the cable modem (or DSL)...
Answer to:
If you had a fast computer would you use vista
No. There is really very little that Vista gives you in terms of functionality over Windows XP. Granted, Vista is more resistant to buffer overflow attacks and malicious code exploits. But if you haven't had a problem with an XP system getting compromised in the past, I'd stick with Windows XP. XP just takes less resources to run than Vista.

Im a 17yr old girl (18 in Dec), and im really into this guy, but he's 15. would it be wrong for me to date him?
Do what your parents tell you to do in this regard. I'm surprised that they would allow you to solicit advice about this in a public forum. Do they know you asked this question here? If not, tell them.
Answer to:
Is downloading music from sites like Savefile and mediafire considered pirating?
I'd say yes. These sites offer no way for the artists and the record companies that own the songs to be compensated. That is not fair.
You can buy MP3 formatted songs from amazon.com for $0.99 each.

Why is existence of freedom important?
The Declaration of Independence says that people are endowed by their Creator with inalienable rights. One of these rights is the "right to life". Another is the "right to the pursuit of happiness". What is the ultimate happiness? We shall see.
Without freedom, it is impossible to exercise your rights. I can not have a "right to pursue happiness" if I am not...

Why do Catholics confess their sins to a priest and not directly to God asking for His forgiveness?
You've set up a false dichotomy in your question.
Catholics confess their sins to a priest because Christ set it up this way. Read Matt 9:1-8 (the last word is plural) and John 20 as support of Catholic teaching that is 2000 years old.
Additionally, Catholics also confess their sins to God and ask forgiveness at every Mass when they call to mind their sins during the Penetitial Rite...

No. Obama is not only pro-abortion, he is pro-infanticide. See his voting record against the Induced Infant Liability Act.
I would never vote for this monster.

I am a young christian male in early my early 20s. I enjoy masturbating but do not like looking a Pornorgarphy nor think negative thoughts about women/girls. I masturbate looking a female with slim smooth silk legs and nice feet/toes. Is this a sin.HELP!
You asked in a Catholic forum. The Catholic Church teaches that masturbation is a sin. See the Catechism of the Catholic Church #2352 and #2396.
Some here twist scripture and falsely teach that masturbation is compatible with Christianity. It is not and never has been.
In the context of mankind as a whole, Christianity is primarily about the good of others. God made us male and female and...

I want to use Linux and Windows without having to reboot, VMware is a fairly good solution. Assuming i use Linux as the host system, can i install Adobe Photoshop and such softwares onto Windows and expect it to work fine? Will it run into driver problems?
VMware will provide the guest operating system (Windows) with virtual video card. Assuming you install VMware tools into the guest, the virtual video card will be a "VMware SVGA-II" graphics adapter. This virtual device is limited to 128 MB of RAM.
Provided Photoshop (and the plug-ins) don't need more than this, you should be OK.

I want to put some variety of linux in a virtual machine (physical machine is vista). Which should I use? VMWare, MSVM, others? I heard M/S Virtual Machine only supports Windows O/S.
Try VMware Workstation. The extensive snapshot capability in Workstation can be used to save your virtual machine configurations as you try different things with guest OS. Plus, the host-guest shared folder capability is handy for quick file transfers, and can be easily disabled through the GUI to more fully isolate the guest.

Where is your GOD now?
God is everywhere in that nothing can escape His power. He holds everything in existence that He created out of nothing. If He failed to do so, the creature would revert back to its original state -- nothingness. Every piece of matter and all spirit (including the devil, whom God created good but who made himself evil), are held in existence by God. Mere existence, in and of itself, is hell to...

Answer to:
Can someone give up lent for lent?
The answer to your question is "No".
The Church has the power from God to "bind and loose". (Matt 18). You were not given such power.
The Church exercises her authority and defines when lent is. A Catholic exercises his free will and submits to the teaching of the Church or he submits to himself. In other words, he either loves Christ by being willfully obedient to His...

Answer to:
Does it say anywhere in the bible that one must be baptized before participating in communion..... in the catholic church? is this "manmade rule"?
Explicitly, no.
The Catholic Church has authority to "bind and loose". Sacred Tradition for 2000 years has always taught this, and this is re-iterated explicitly in the Bible. The Church has legislative authority over the administering of the Sacraments. It can state how they are to be received, and what conditions are necessary.
Regarding Holy Communion, Catholics believe they...

Does 'Inerrant' necessarily imply 'complete'? That is, if you take the Bible as inerrant, can it provide inerrant instruction about things it doesn't mention, or would people take their own interpretation of advice?
Good question.
To the Catholic Church, the Bible, as defined by the Catholic Church, is in itself inerrant and complete in as much as there are no other books in it. Reference the Vatican II document "Dei Verbum". That being said, complete does not mean exhaustive.
The Bible is a divinely inspired book. But just like any book, it needs an authoritative interpreter. If you and I...

I understand your plight. Here is what works for me.
Go to both. Ask him to go with you to Mass and offer to go with him. As a general rule, Catholics are prohibited only from participating in other forms of worship...but not from attending. There has been many times where the Pope himself has attended other worship services. He does not participate.
Understandably, he may not want to...

Answer to:
Is the Catholic church at fault for a massive molestation cover up? If so why & what "punishment" is acceptable?
The individuals as individuals in the Church are responsible for their actions. If a priest molests a child, then he should go to jail. If a bishop covers it up, then he should go to jail also.
The failure of a given individual to live up to the teachings of the Catholic Church does not make the entire Church as a entity materially responsible. The Catholic Church taught these priests and...

What were the reforms of martin luther and john calvin and what was the catholic church response
This is a very deep question and really requires a great deal of study. If you can, try to catch the episode "Protestant Reformation Part I" by Fr. Charles Conner on EWTN. He is an excellent historian.
In summary, the priests, bishops and even the Popes of the 15-16th centuries had become very worldly. Christian asceticism had really gone by the wayside, and both laity and priests...

I am Catholic and my husband is Presbyterian. Is there a denomination that is similar to both that we could join?
As a Catholic, you have been blessed (whether you realize it or not) to receive the Catholic faith already.
Religion is a duty to God and at its core is obedience. Your responsibility to God is to learn your faith and practice it. Christ tells us that it is He who chooses us. And as a Catholic, you need to understand that He is literally in the Catholic Church.
Your duty to your husband...
