Answer to:
I met a girl a month and a half ago, we've started to become good friends and I think there could be something more. However, she is from a different religion than mine. Could a relationship still work?
It depends how important your religion is to you. If it is not, than it doesn't
matter what her religion is. If yours is important, then you need to make some
decisions about what the differences are between the two beliefs. They will, in
the long run, either bring you closer together, or make it difficult to continue.

Centuries ago, they just threw in a virgin and that would cause a mighty

How can I make friends where I live if it's hard for me to get out of the house?
Person to person, although is the best way to build a relationship, is not the
only way. With today's technology, you can meet people in your own room.
Chat rooms, phone calls, emails, etc. Many friendships and, yes, even good
relationships have come from the internet. Just don't forget that there is a real
world outside of your room. Don't be surprised if someone else is...

Is it normal for your best friend to ask "If you had to choose between me and your girlfriend, who would you choose"?
Normal...yes. Appropriate....no. A friendship is based on mutual trust and

more of us without any friends.

Why do men rent their tuxedos and women purchase their wedding dresses when they get married?
If you think about it, how often do men wear tuxedos, other than the Prom and
their wedding day? Yet, women will hand down their wedding dress to their
sister or daughter or a very close friend. I only wore a tuxedo once in my
entire life....my wedding day. My wife's wedding dress was originally her
sisters and will most likely be used again by another family member.

Are Mormons taught to avoid other religions to stop them from converting?
If we understood how the conversion process really worked, we would have
no fear of who converts to what. I personally enjoy visiting and discussing the
religious differences with friends of mine. They are vast and quite interesting.
Conversion comes from the Holy Ghost, testifying that the gospel of Jesus
Christ is real and very much alive today. I would not be too worried that some-

How can I better understand the Mormon religion in order to decide whether to convert to it in order to be able to be with my Mormon boyfriend?
Your question concerns me. If you are joining to be with your boyfriend, you
are probably doing it for the wrong reason. A conversion comes from inside.
You feel that it is right and true. You want to experience those feelings on a
regular basis. So, you become a member through baptism and receiving
the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands.
I venture to guess that that will...

As a Mormon, why do I need to confess my sins to another person (i.e. a bishop) instead of just to God?
In Exodus, Moses' father-in-law chastised him for trying to
do everything himself. He was taught the concept of deligation. Notice that
he called other wise men to rule over 1000's, 100's, 50's, etc. Bishops are
called for the same reason. That sounds biblical to me.
My comment in answering the question has been misunderstood. I never said
that a bishop or stake...

Are tithes used to help support large Mormon families?
Tithing monies are used for building chapels, temples, maintaining said
buildings, and other such expenses. If a family needs financial assistance,
Fast Offerings are used for that purpose. That is why young men go to the
homes each first Sunday of the month and collect Fast Offerings. It is to
help those in need.

What is the difference between lust and love?
Love is when you want the best for the other person. You do what you can to
make it possible. Lust is getting what you want out of the other person. One
is outwardly focused. The other is focused inwardly. Both usually involve
sexual gratification, but love is making sure the other person gets it, too.

How do you fall out of love?
You fall out of love the same way you fall out of bed. You aren't in it deep
enough. Falling out of love happens when you don't give the attention
necessary to keep it going. You gave that kind of attention before -- when you
"fell in love".

How long do it take a person to convert to Mormonism?
I think a better question might be, "How long until a person feels that the
Church is right and true?" That may only take a short period of time, or it
may take a long time, depending on your willingness to accept. Your
acceptance and change of heart is the true conversion, not just becoming
a member and joining the Church.

Answer to:
Why is there such an emphasis on conversion in the Mormon faith?
I am noticing a slight misuse of the word "convert" in many of these questions
and answers. If a person is converted to an idea....or in this case, a religion,
they have had a change of heart and feel strongly that the principles and the
doctrine are true. Because of that, they want to be baptized and become a
member of the Church. The association with other members only...

The young man....I am assuming it is a young man who is leaving on a mission, can date if he chooses to. The point at which he actually leaves on his mission, he is no longer able to do so. His total focus needs to be on his work and the service to which he has committed himself.

For the state of Utah, you need to graduate with at least a Bachelors Degree.

woods, you can call any of the universities and they will tell you what they

Is it okay if your child is curious about breasts? How should you handle it?
Curiosity is very normal, especially in a child. I remember when I was five or
six asking my mom about those two bumps under her shirt. She just said

on the age of a child, you can answer most questions with simple but direct

Premarital sex at any age is wrong in the eyes of the church. But more so with a teenager. Is there a rule that states that Mormon teens have to talk for a certain amount of time before they are officially boyfriend and girlfriend?
The term "boyfriend" or "girlfriend" implies a certain level of commitment.
At the early age of dating, which the church strongly suggests at 16, there is no place for that level of commitment. You date to get to know each other and to enjoy the company of friends, or to make new friends.

Answer to:
Does the LDS Church release information (exact figures/estimates) to its members about how tithing money is spent?
Generally speaking, the members know how tithing money is spent. We see temples being built all over the world. Chapels (meeting places) are also dotting the earth. The maintenance of these buildings are funded through tithing. So the answer would be yes, with a clarification that the members do not need to know the specifics of the payment. We trust that it is used appropriately.

We believe that the priesthood belongs to God. As such, he gives it to whom he feels either needs it most, or can use it best. So far, we do not know why women have not been given that responsibility.
