Answer to:
How do I get the cats to stop scratching at my bedroom door? I don't like them in there when I'm sleeping.
There are several things you could try:
- Spray a citrus scent on and around the bedroom door.
- Put tape donuts on the door. Not only will the sticky sensation discourage them, but if a piece comes off and stays attached to a paw, the struggle to get it off will be added incentive not to scratch.
- Get a scat mat and lay it in front of the door. If your cats step on it, they will get a...

Do you agree that the family cat is a scourge on wildlife such as young birds and what would you suggest to control the situation?
I'm not sure there is enough evidence for me to agree that cats are a scourge. They are excellent hunters, but require stealth to be successful. If you are concerned about your cat attacking the wildlife, attach a bell to his collar. My solution is to keep my cats inside. They won't attack anything not made of cloth and filled with catnip and they won't dent anyone's...

The Problem with feminism is that it does not distinguish between "sameness" and "Equality" ... who would agree that women can be equal in importance, etc. with men, but are actually quite different and play reciprocal roles to better perform as a team?
The problem with "feminism" is that everyone has a different idea of what the word means and every single definition is going to piss someone off.
Personally, I just want to have the freedom to pursue the things I am good at and love doing. None of those things involve cleaning or children. The health and safety of the world is much improved by the simple fact that I am working...

Book stores and craft stores are the ones that I need to be physically dragged out of.
Computer stores follow closely behind. The mom and pop ones that have all sorts of odd little doodads and tools are the best.

Why won't my Samsung DVD-ROM SD-612 detect a blank CD-R disc?
The "RO" in ROM stands for "Read Only." The DVD drive you have will only read CDs and DVDs. It can't burn them and it doesn't know what to do when you put a CD-R in it.
The only thing you can do is buy a new drive that has the ability to burn discs.

How do u take a cat to another city by car [maybe even w/o a cage]
First, let me say, please don't take a cat in a vehicle without putting it in a carrier. Not only can it cause an accident as some other answers have mentioned, if you are in an accident, it will help protect your cat from harm. I take the added precaution of latching the seatbelt around the carrier as well.
Some cats will make a fuss, but be generally ok on a long trip. Others will...

Currently the only window I have open is IE but my comp is over running. It always seems to go funny when I log into my gmail account for some reason and and my CPU usage is 100% but I don't know why.. does anyone have any idea as to why this is? Thanks
Well, first of all, I've never been able to get Gmail to work well with IE. For that and security reasons, you should probably switch to Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/
It's also possible that you have a virus or some spyware jamming up the works. This site will guide you through the steps needed to make sure your computer is clear http://www.securitytango.com/

Why do cats eat their own hairballs?
I'm not sure if you're referring to the first or second time around.
Cats get hairballs by regularly grooming themselves. As they lick their fur, they swallow some of it. It can pass in their bowel movements or they throw it up.
After they throw it up, it's anyone's guess as to why they would feel the urge to eat it again. Just keep in mind that what we find...

Why don't atheists commit suicide? If life is accidental without meaning because it is purely by chance, why continue to lived with hope, dreams and desires if you are merely an accident without any purpose to existence? THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE MALICIOUS.
Just because I don't believe in some deity at the helm of my fate doesn't mean that my life is without purpose. It is often hope, dreams, and desires that make life worth living. Even though I find my reason for being outside the sphere of god, that doesn't mean my life is any less meaningful. Besides, if people didn't like playing games of chance, we wouldn't have...

My new kitten crys a lot when she's locked up in her cage at night, why? We can't let her loose without supervision because she'll climb on stuff or chew on electrical cords(by the way how do I stop this?)
She's probably crying because she's lonely or bored. Try putting a clock in there with her. The ticking sounds like a heartbeat. Make sure there are a few toys in there too.
To stop her from chewing on things that she isn't supposed to, go to the pet store and buy a spray called Bitter Apple. It tastes so terrible that she won't bother anything that it's sprayed on.

They won't stop using the labeeb xaman bridge unless you provide an alternate route and make your lap a less desirable option.

Writing a book (fiction) 3 narrators all first person narrative. 1 narrator is in first person past tense the others are present tense, does this make sense ? Will readers be confused by this or do other authors do this and it's ok?
I don't remember ever reading a book that was written this way. It will be very difficult to write since there will be very little distinction between the three voices.
The only way I can think of to show the change in narrators and indicate which one is to start a new chapter and clearly state who is speaking. For example:
Chapter 1: Jamie
Chapter 2: Sal
Chapter 3: Jamie

It could be fleas or an allergy. Until you can get him to the vet, you can buy some bitter apple spray at the pet store. This tastes so bad to him that he won't lick it. Unfortunately, it's only a temporary solution because a cat that can't groom himself is a lot of work to take care of.

Download speed is how fast data is coming into your computer. Upload speed is how fast data is going out of your computer.

An imbalance in the PH of a cat's urine can create the crystals that cause urinary tract infections. It can also be caused by bacteria. The chances of recovery would depend on the exact cause and the age and condition of the cat.

My cat is always desperately trying to get outside. I let him out the other day, and he didn't come back. Any tips on how to find him?
Put bowls of water and his favorite food outside. Keep an eye on them, particularly at dusk and dawn to see if he comes back for a meal.

Check with the animal shelters in the area to see if anyone turned him in.

My kitty is long haired. He HATES to have his belly touched (and wakes up from deep sleep), but his fur is looking a little scraggly. I don't want to cause him undue distress, but I don't want him to be unkempt, either. What to do?
Take him to a groomer. They are used to gently dealing with uncooperative, pissed off animals. You can get him washed and brushed, trimmed, or shaved. They can also do a hygiene shave where the fur on his butt is cut shorter so he doesn't get feces stuck in it.
This is a win-win situation. Your cat probably won't blame you for the manhandling like he would if you tried to do it...

I want castrated, why cant i just go to a doctor and get it done?
There are two ways I can interpret your question. The first is that you want to be castrated, but haven't been able to bring yourself to go get it done. The second is that you haven't been able to find a doctor willing to do it.
If it's the first interpretation, it's a big step and you're right to hesitate. There's no going back. You may want to try chemical...
Answer to:
My 3 year old female cat has started a new behaviour and I'm wondering if anyone knows what it means. She will rub against my legs and then put her back paw on my foot and stand there for a few minutes. Sometimes she'll just lay down on
Rubbing is the way cats leave their scent. She is marking you as her property. She may have started this behavior if you recently got a new family member (cat or human). She is telling the newcomer that you are HER pet human.
I'm not sure why she would be standing on your foot other than trying to warm her paw up or it just being a personal quirk of hers.
It sounds like she loves...
Answer to:
Why is my cats eye watering and has puss coming out of it. Could it be a cold or has our new kitten scratched it.
The why isn't as important as getting that cat to a vet immediately! Pus is a sign of infection. If it goes untreated, your cat may lose her vision or her eye.

If there is no God, why do humans have the capacity to love? No other animal has that ability. There is no obvious evolutionary benefit. We not only have the capacity to love, we crave it. Why do you think that is?
First, I can only assume that you have never had a pet. I know my cat loves me because of the affection and care she gives me. She grooms me and cuddles with me. If I'm sick, she will sleep on the bed with me until I'm better. Even if you aren't willing to accept her behavior as love, you have to admit that emulating it has been an evolutionary coup for domestic cats....

Why are pay washers and dryers only made to take quarters? Parking meters I understand, it's a scam to give tickets...but washers and dryers?
My best guess is that they want to make the coin accepting mechanism as simple as possible to keep the cost of it down. After paying for the machines, electricity, maintenance, and renting the space, I can't imagine that laundromats are big revenue producers.

If everyone poops, why is it so embarrassing to poop in public bathrooms?
Because it takes pooping from a private abstraction to a public odoriferous, buttock-splashed reality.
It's like thinking about your parents having sex. You know they had to do it at least once for every child they had, but your mind wants to skitter away from the whole subject as quickly as possible.

No, my male cat sits in the tub for fun. He loves peeking around the shower curtain and playing with the water.

You have to consider several things:
Can you live with only visiting her when you see your parents?
Can she live with only seeing you when you visit your parents?
Can your parents afford to care for her?
Can your parents care for her properly with their ill health?
Is flying her to your new home worth the expense and stress for her and you?

Grieving is a very personal process. There are some unhealthy ways to do it, but it doesn't sound like you have that problem. Honor her memory and cry if you feel like it. There's nothing weird about it.

My cat went into heat on the 2nd and last night unbeknown to us she got out. She is still acting in heat. If she had mated, would she still be in heat?
The simple answer is yes. Take her to be fixed as soon as you can.
The reason why is that cats are induced ovulators. This means that they will only release an egg for fertilization after having sex (in this case, the early bird doesn't catch the worm!). Mating will not shorten her period of heat because she needs to be mated multiple times to achieve pregnancy.
It is very likely...

What is it about catnip that makes cats crazy? Does it work on cats of all ages? Can cats become addicted to it?
Catnip contains the chemical nepetalactone that acts like a sex pheromone on the feline amygdala. It doesn't work on sexually immature cats and it doesn't even work on all adults. There seems to be a gene for nepetalactone response and only 70 to 80% of cats have it. Overuse tends to temporarily desensitize cats rather than causing addiction.

Answer to:
How do I teach my cat to fetch?
It's usually easy to get him to chase after something. The hard part is getting him to bring it back to you. Occasionally, you will get a cat that it comes to naturally, but, if you don't, you will have to employ bribery.
Find a toy your cat likes to chase after. It should be something he can easily carry in his mouth. Find a brand of treats that he absolutely loves. Throw the...

Answer to:
Does your cat run to greet you at the door, like a dog?
When my female cat hears my car, she comes to the window. She'll watch me come up the walk until I'm out of view and then she'll go wait with my male cat by the door until I get the mail and come in. She greets me with her tail up and he usually throws himself against my shins. If she really missed me, she'll flop over and insist on a belly rub before I get to anything else.

One of my cats is very yowly, everytime i touch or move her she yowls. when i pick her up she heads straight for my hair, she'll bury her head in it and then start mashing and drooling! is this a weird cat or is it just me?
Some cats are chattier than others. My girl hardly talked at all but my boy says anything that flits through his little brain. When you touch her, she may just be saying that she likes the attention from you. If she pulls away from your touch while yowling, try to gently check her for sores, lumps, or areas that seem to cause her pain and schedule a trip to the vet if necessary.

What advice would you give to someone who is new to the actual, pen and paper D&D? Tips and tricks?
Creativity is key in my opinion. There is nothing I hate more than a Dungeon Master that punishes innovation and tries to force characters to follow his storyline. I also detest when players can't think outside the box. The whole point of role playing is to try thinking and doing things you would never do in real life. I live in my own skin all day every day, role playing gives me the...

As an adult, do you enjoy Harry Potter, or is it average because it is targeted towards youngsters?
I'm 27 and enjoyed the books immensely. Just because a book is written for children doesn't completely invalidate it for adults. There are some that I could barely stand to read while I was a child (R.L. Stine, Sweet Valley High, etc.), but there are also some that I can reread as an adult and get something entirely different out of them (A Wrinkle in Time is the first one that came...

Do you believe JKRowling really knew what she was doing the entire time, or was she just making it up as she went along?
There is no way she just sat down and churned these out without any forethought or planning. There were things mentioned in passing in the earlier books that played important parts later. It would be nearly impossible to have laid such a rich groundwork without taking time to think it through first.

I don't add anyone that I don't know and have put a blurb on my profile about it. It's nothing personal, but come on! It's a friends list, not a strangers list. If someone finds me to be an interesting character, the least he or she could do is leave me a few comments first.

If you have a cat, is (s)he a good mouser?
I've had both of my cats since they were eight weeks old. They never had the opportunity to learn how to mouse from their mothers. There's never been a mouse inside for them to chase but I have seen them play with a bug until it "broke" and wasn't fun anymore. I can't imagine they would do much better with a critter of the rodent persuasion.

Answer to:
Does anyone think it is disturbing that grown men and women go nuts for Harry Potter, a childrens book?
The books are well written and have been getting more adult as the series goes on. I think some of the hysteria is manufactured and is obviously encouraged by the publisher and bookstores. It's not like reading a children's book leads to pedophilia and after seeing some answers about how often people actually read, anything that will get them to do so is a good thing in my opinion.

Who is your favorite character in Margaret Weis and Tracy Ray Hickman books and why?
Raistlin from the Dragonlance series. I've always been a sucker for the tortured, damaged souls and he's about as tortured and damaged as you can get. Those types of characters tend to be complicated and interesting.

When one is on an open proxy, they type something and submit it, why do backslashes sometimes appear before the apostrophes?
I can't speak to this exact situation, but backslashes are often used to 'escape' a character that the system wouldn't process correctly otherwise. It is essentially telling the system to ignore the apostrophe.

Well, I can't give you an exact percentage on the likelihood but apparently, "The risk of burn wound infection is directly correlated to the extent of the burn and is related to impaired resistance resulting from disruption of the skin's mechanical integrity and generalized immune suppression." Not at all. Some anime is very creative and I enjoy watching it.
I have found that I have to watch a couple episodes to really give it a chance. The stories tend to unfold more slowly than typical American shows. How do you clip your cat's nails without her getting impatient and scratching or biting you?
If I have a whole manicure to do, I wrap my guy up in a towel and only have the paw I'm working on sticking out. The only time he fusses is if his head isn't covered. I press on the top of the toe I'm going to clip to extend the claw. I tried using people nail clippers and it tended to make his nail shatter. It was worth investing in cat nail clippers from the pet store....

A male cat that isn't neutered will definitely spray. One that is neutered early enough is less likely to but it's not a guarantee. You should get him fixed as soon as you can.

Not always. I've seen some attempts by my cats to jump up on things end up in a faceplant or an undignified rump landing. This is something that can't really be answered in generalities. You will have to call the providers in your area and get price quotes for installation, any equipment you will need, service charges, and monthly fees. Compare those quotes to the average amount you spend on dialup every month and you should be able to make an informed decision.

It may be inappropriate for me to answer because I'm so close to the issue <running a hand through red tresses>, but I'll try to be objective. I think the reason red-headed women are thought to be harder to handle is the stereotype that they have volatile tempers.

Doctors in Japan will not tell a patient that their disease is terminal. They sometimes will not even tell the relatives. Their reasoning is that it will keep the patient's spirits up. Do you think this is reasonable?
I can see why doctors believe this is reasonable but I think it robs the patients of the chance to get their affairs in order. Some people need that kind of goad to say the things that would otherwise go unsaid.
There are also the sort of people that see the proclamation of how much time they have left as a challenge. The spirit to fight is often just as important as a positive outlook.

Yup. I have two cats. They have their own personality and I have a unique relationship with each. They have nicknames that I say in a specific tone of voice. Each one knows the tone that belongs to him or her.

I used to get dragon lady PMS. We're talking the cats and he-bitch cowering as I crushed plebeians beneath my claws. Cramping, water retention, mood swings, all that delightful stuff.
After finding out that I have a blood sugar condition, I had to cut out all sugar and refined carbohydrates. It's a pretty drastic diet but almost all my PMS symptoms cleared up after a few months....

I like to read LOZ fan fics and I want other's opinions on this: I do not think in any of them that Link should marry Zelda or Saria. That would ruin the entire story. What are your thoughts?
Fan fiction gives people the opportunity to have the story turn out the way they want. There will always be people that want the story to go a way you don't like. That's the beauty of fan fiction, though. Go ahead and write your own story. Kill off Zelda and Saria if you want (that would sure get some people angry!!).
People can do whatever they want in their fantasy world....

Simply because they are only making noises about being concerned with their health. They aren't willing to give up convenience and the additives that go along with it.
No matter how confusing information is about these chemicals, everyone knows that making food yourself from basic ingredients results a healthier product. They just aren't willing to do it.

Has anyone had abusers in the past that they have been able to forgive now or confront and have closure? Either way, you resolved your pain. How?
I suffered at the hands of my parents for 18 years. As I grew up, my anger built until I was boiling with barely contained rage. I eventually realized that I was just scalding myself. I managed to let go of most of the anger but true forgiveness took almost another decade. For the longest time, forgiveness felt like I would be condoning what they had done to me. I had heard that...

In your opinion, is homework helpful or hindering to learning?
I view homework as an exercise that allows students to work with, explore, and examine the concepts that I taught in class. Listening to theory and putting it into practice are two completely different things. That said, there is a HUGE difference between a useful...

Not all satellite pictures are taken at the same resolution. It takes less time to image an area if wider shots are taken. I have noticed that I cannot focus down as closely in rural areas as I can in urban ones.
If the blurs are localized, it is possible that Google is complying with the wishes of the government to keep pictures of sensitive areas away from prying eyes.

People who are trying to get a cat's attention will often look them in the eyes. This is perceived as aggressiveness and the cat will avoid that person. I started somewhere between 5 and 7 but I didn't really get into it until I was 9. Those where the days. A lightning fast 386DX33, 50 Megs of hard drive space, a 2400 baud modem, and DOS prompt as fas as the eye could see. I eventually got Windows 3.1.

Do I come off as cynical to you?
Your writing has the tang of dry wit, some sarcasm, and a general low opinion of humanity. While that technically meets the definition for cynicism, I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. I personally love it and think that humanity has earned its reputation.

I wrote this the other night because of the unseasonably warm weather in my area.
Winter
O Goddess of Winter,
Mistress of the Frost Rimed Leaf,
Why do you abandon me on this, the eve of December?
The beds lie brown and barren,
Insensitive to sun that warms them.
The small creatures' hoardings have become a farce
Rather than desperate, knowing acts for a coming hardship.

O.K., I'm drawing a line in the sand with the idiocy of text messaging and I won't join in. What thing do you refuse to involve yourself in and why?
I refuse to get caught up in the froth of consumerism. I refuse to wait in line all night to purchase a game system that doesn't even have any good games yet! I refuse to buy something just because everyone else has it and I'm an outcast for not having it. I refuse to buy things I don't need because of the siren's song of advertising.
Text messaging can go to hell, too.

There are as many reasons as there are people who abuse authority. Maybe they see it as finally being able to stick it to the world that stuck it to them. Tell her to keep it to herself if she values his friendship. He already knows how she feels. If he reacted that badly the last time, she may lose him for good if she pushes the issue this time. It is up to him to approach her if he changes his mind.

Can the term "creeping featurism" be applied to websites, or is it strictly for software?
Even though the term isn't intended to describe websites, I think it is very applicable.
Every company seems to feel the pressure to make things bigger and better. Even if the site provides an excellent service and does it well, that just isn't enough. They have to keep on adding new stuff and "improving" things until they lose sight of what made it great in the first...

It either means that the caller didn't want to provide the actual number or was unable to.
There are two ways that name and number information is transmitted with a phone call. The one that shows up on your reader is the newer type that we think of as caller ID (CID). The older type is called Automatic Number Identification (ANI).
Obviously, CID isn't always accurate. Many...

I ran over a nail, which stuck in a tire. Now the tire leaks air. Can this be fixed? If so, will the tire be safe to drive on after the fix? It's a Goodyear with maybe 10K miles.
I've gotten tires fixed with no problem and at reasonable prices. The only problem you’ll run into is if the puncture is in the sidewall of the tire. That sort of damage cannot be patched or repaired.
The quality of the tire determines the likelihood of failure after repair (primarily caused by tread separation around the puncture). Goodyear makes both lower and higher end...

Has science measured the rate and direction of air flow IN TO and OUT of the nose? Does one side of the nose TAKE IN and another side PUSH OUT air, or both sides inhale and exhale at the same time?
Usually, only one side is open at a time. Air will flow in and out of that side for around 60 to 90 minutes before it switches to the other nostril. There are times when you will be able to breathe through both nostrils or neither.
I have noticed that if I am laying on my left side, my right nostril will be open and when I roll over, it will reverse. Most of the time I don't notice...

Cats tend to land on their feet because they instinctively right themselves while falling.

Are asthmatics normally allergic to house dust?
While asthma and allergies frequently go together, they don't always have to. "Allergies can make asthma worse, although not all people with asthma have allergies, and not all people with allergies have asthma." http://www.aaaai.org/patients/gallery/adultasthma.asp?item=1c
Even if someone has them both, it still depends on what their body reacts to. Dust is a common allergen but...

Sure! You'll have to buy the bug, though. I also refuse to buy you dentures when all that metal and upholstery wears your teeth down.

Does anyone make clothing (shirts, pants, shoes, etc.) for two people (a man and a woman) to wear at the same time?
I found a two person t-shirt http://www.shopinprivate.com/twopet.html and underwear for two http://www.shopinprivate.com/fununfortwo.html but was stymied when it came to pants and shoes. My best suggestion is to measure the waists of both parties, add a few inches for wiggle room, and buy a pair of drawstring sweatpants. http://www.bigandtallguys.com/store.mgi?category=Sweat%20Pants

I'm 26 and have never been in a serious relationship. I know this great lady who is 38 years old at work. She is fun to be around and I am not sure what exactly she feels. Should I pursue her?
That depends on how you feel about relationships with co-workers. There is a lot of debate about the wisdom of inter-office romance. Sometimes there are problems during the relationship because the couple is so wrapped up in each other (or wrapped up with each other behind the copier). There can be even bigger problems if a relationship goes bad. There's no escaping it when you are forced...

When people say something angrily during an argument, is it likely to represent true thoughts or feelings even though later they say they 'didn't mean it'?
From what I've seen, they might not have meant it and it might not be true in their eyes at all.
In the heat of the moment, they were looking for any chink in your armor they could exploit. One of the risks of intimacy is that it gives someone a lot of ammunition they could use to hurt you. They could just be saying what they think would be the most hurtful regardless of whether they...

Why do some people feel the need to impress others by pompously intellectualizing everything?
Up front, I'd like to admit that I am a good candidate for Pompous Intellectuals Anonymous.
I like to blather on about science, nature, computers, psychology, or anything else that tickles my geekish fancy. I get the hint if people aren't delighted to be talking with me about those sort of things. I would feel like I was insulting them if I dumbed it down while talking to them, though.

Is there a fool-proof gesture in body language that indicates deception or lying?
If there was, we wouldn't need lie detectors (and they aren't even foolproof).
Individual people may have a 'tell' or some characteristic specific to their behavior. The one most cited is the inability to look someone in the eye while lying. A conscious effort can negate this, though.
If you are looking for a gesture specific to one person, you will need to observe them closely. Do...

Is there a clinical term for a person who chooses to keep their home fouled by the feces and urine of their pets?
I'm not sure about something specific to the keeping of feces and urine, but this could be part of a larger problem. If the person keeps everything, not just pet excrement (the house is stuffed to the rafters) it could be obsessive compulsive hoarding disorder (OCHD).
Many hoarders are so blind to the condition of their home that they just don't see (or smell!) things that would bother...

What is a hem?
This usually refers to finishing the edge of a garment so that it won't rip or fray. This is typically done by folding the edge over once or twice and then sewing it down.
Hemming can also be used to change the length of a garment. To lengthen as much as extra fabric will allow or shorten as desired.

How trustworthy are anonymizer sites, especially now that the US government is threatening to require logging of everyone's Internet access?
They are only as trustworthy as they are immune to court orders. If they have kept any record of the IP addresses and times of access on their site, those can be matched up with the anonymous browsing service's IPs and times of access on sites the government doesn't want you on.
The only forseeable ways to avoid this is to find a service that doesn't retain any information or is located in...

What are IP addresses?
Internet Protocol Address:
This is a number that uniquely identifies your computer or other Internet enabled device while you are on a private network or the Internet. It is used much like a street address is to identify the sender and recipient in a communication.
At this time, it consists of four numbers (0-255) separated by periods (ie. 192.168.3.254). A new standard (IPv6) will...

My cat meows at me when we're in the same room, and she'll meow at me when I'm getting ready to go to bed. She stops once I get into bed. Is being so vocal a sign of affection?
I've been meowed at because my little guy wanted to be petted. I guess that could qualify as a sign of affection... or at least wanting affection!
Some cats are just chattier than others. One of mine is 1/4 siamese and it seems like he'll say anything and everything that flits through his brain... although, my male human does that, too.
The problem is determining what she's trying to...

Butterick/McCall's/Vogue http://www.mccall.com/
Kwik Sew http://www.kwiksew.com/

Yes, to some extent. It isn't the same as another human understanding your feelings, though, because cats don't understand some of the subtle body language we use to display our feelings.
They understand tone of voice. Something said loudly or in a low pitch will give them the impression of anger. Something said in a high pitch with low volume will be inviting and won't be intimidating....

What do people in the U.S.A. think of children who live in the U.S.A but go to boarding school in the U.K?
That is, of course, very subjective. Ask 100 people and you'll probably get 100 answers. My personal opinion would depend on the situation. I was friends with some high school aged people from other countries that went to a boarding school in the U.S. Some of them thrived on the independence but others couldn't wait to get back home. Horrifyingly enough, some of them were sent there to get...

My kitten's eyes are runny and red. What do I do?
Take her to the vet! While it is possible that it's just allergies, it could be an infection. If left untreated, it may impair her vision or even travel to the brain (very bad news!!).
This is the sort of thing where it's better to be safe than sorry. $20 for a check up is worth the long term health of your furry friend.

As long as they are weaned, 7-8 weeks is a good time to let them go. I can't say you'll have an easy time doing it, though. It can be hard to say good bye to those cute little balls of energy and fluff.

How can I restore CMOS boot information when it is lost?
You'll have to go into the BIOS and set it up again (hit a special key when it first boots up. It should tell you which one if you watch as it boots up. The escape, delete or F11 keys are common ones that may work. Your manual may tell you, as well). I'm not sure what options you may need to put back in but the standards would be the time and date, hard drives, and CD drives. If you asked...

When I load a game that I was playing when I dropped my PS2, it goes to a blank screen and in the upper left corner is a symbol of a disk, which flashes to a question mark. What kind of problem is this?
It's possible that the CD hit something inside when the console was dropped. Check the bottom of the CD for scratch marks or gouges. If it isn't too deep, there are some products that may be able to save it. Why are the snacks and drinks contained in hotel mini-refrigerators so vehemently overpriced?
They are so expensive because the hotel has you trapped. You sit there staring at that candybar all night. It calls to you. It whispers sweet promises to you. Without transporation or directions, it's usually too much trouble for the guest to go down the street to the store and buy a reasonably priced candybar. Some people decide the convenience and their immediate desires are worth the...

In place of cell phone transmitter towers, what would need to be used so "timephones" could be used?
Cell phone towers are there because the phone cannot broadcast the signal very far, distance wise. The timephone signal has two obstacles to overcome for it to be sent. First, it would have to travel through time to the year/day/time you want the other person to receive the call. Second, it would have to travel the distance from where the signal exited from the time travel mechanism to the...

Our cat has recently started carrying her toys around in her mouth and howls when she carries them. Why does she do this?
My cat does this too. I was worried the first few times because it sounded like she was hurt. I would go running into the room only to find her with a defeated mousie toy dangling from her mouth.
I think this may be related to behavior exhibited by outdoor cats. When a mother cat catches a mouse, her instincts tell her to bring it back to the nest for the family or just to keep it safe...

When should I switch kittens to food other than their mother's milk, and what type of food?
Kittens typically start the weaning process between 4 to 6 weeks old.
Start mixing a good quality kitten food with milk replacer (such as KMR) or water and soak it until it resembles oatmeal. Place the food in a shallow bowl and stimulate the kittens to eat it by placing a bit of the food in their mouths. Start separating the mother cat from the litter for an hour, then two, then three,...

What should you use to disinfect steel items like razor blades and tweezers?
I usually just hold the end that needs sterilization in the flame from a lighter for several seconds. Make sure you don't hold the other end with your bare fingers since it can get hot. This also leaves the item discolored from soot but I've never had a problem getting that off.

My breasts are way too large for my body size and age. What exercises can I do to reduce my breast size?
The pectoral muscles are underneath the breasts. Unfortunately, exercising them will only make them bigger. Cardiovascular exercise (walking, running, biking, etc) will help you burn fat off along with a sensible diet. As you lose weight, some of it will be lost from the breasts.
Some people are just naturally bustier than others and even after reaching a reasonable weight for your...

You didn't mention the method of heating but I am assuming you know that putting a can in the microwave isn't a good idea.

Why are the buckles on the outside of shoes and zips on the inside of boots?
While I have no degree in footwear closures, my best guess would be that since zippers are flush with the boot material, they won't interfere when you're trying to walk. They seem to be just for keeping the boot up. Buckles stick out and would catch on each other if they were on the inside. They also tend to be for decoration as much as for holding the shoe on your foot.

Do male or female cats make better pets?
A lot depends on the personality of the cat and the way in which he or she was raised. My male cat is the biggest mommas boy ever but my female is just as affectionate in her own way. You'll find any number of anecdotes promoting one sex over the other.
As for physical differences, unaltered male cats spray (smells as bad or worse than urine) and unaltered females go into heat, roll...
