Answer to:
What do you think about nudity? Is the nude human body something to be ashamed of? What about nudity in art?
I think whether nudilty is acceptable or not is determined by the culture. I think the phrase that "the human body is beautiful" is true, but doesn't mean it's okay to display it. There is nothing to be ashamed of as long as it is presented in an acceptable manner, place and time. The same goes for nudity in art.

Emotion is the enemy of Reason. Agree or disagree?
I haven't read the other anwers yet so I'm guessing there are similar answers.
I disagree, because reason and emotion actually work together for the best outcome in two different ways. One, our sense of reason should consider emotion. For instance, how will this decision affect others, either emotionally or physically. Second, often how we feel about a situation helps us make the right...

Im 14 and want to become a nudist. Would it be socially acceptable if i walk around the house naked with my parents home?
For those of us who aren't nudist, it probably wouldn't be acceptable. For me it's not acceptable for a teenage girl to walk around her fathter or brothers without closthes. I would talk to those in the nudist community to find out what they think is acceptable and what the rules are. I'm sure they have guidelines, especially living in a society that doesn't accept nudity as a norm.
Answer to:
What is the worst emotion?
Hmm . . . that's a tough question. Every emotion has it's usefulness, so I would say that none of our emotions are worse than others. I would say that it's what you do with that emotion that can be horrible . . . or not.

What can you learn from the book "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer? I learned nothing, eh?
Learn to use your imagination. Learn to get caught up in someone else's story and forget about your own for a while. Learn to not fall in love with a vampire in a small town such as Forks. Learn to value a wonderful father who is doing everything in his power to love his daughter yet let her live her own life. Learn to hold a friendship, such as the one she has with Jacob as dear . . . and...

How "party loyal" are you? Your party's candidate makes you cringe. Do you still support him/her or opt out at voting time?
I'm not party loyal at all. I vote for the person, not the party. I consider myself a conservative economically and a liberal socially. The two often contradict each other and the decsion becomes difficult. For example: in the last presidential election year, I didn't vote for president, but voted for other offices. I didn't like either of our choices.

Could the BP oil disaster cause a Civil War between coastal states and land locked states?
I think that thought is far from coming to fruition. I think most of America supports the coastal states in this situation and feels pain for the people who live there. Granted the main reason for our Civil War was due to a differnence in economies (farming vs industry), I don't think that could happen today. Each state relys on the other to create this wonderful nation.

I can't answer this question with any certain percentage at this point, but I think you need to be prepared to pay allimony as well. If she stayed at home for 21 years while taking care of the family ,she will need help making a living. I don't think the allimony should be long term, or a large amount, but she'll need some short term help.

Is anyone in heaven yet? do we not have to wait for judgement day first? or is there a judgement day for each individual?
I'm in heaven. I enjoy and relish every moment. I think it's all in how we look at life. Our judgement day is every day. We have to find a way to enjoy, make a difference, learn, love others, be loved and love ourselves. Once we learn all those things, "heaven" is easier to find right here on earth.

Is it a good skill to be able to forgive yourself if you hurt others on a regular basis? How do I master this skill?
"A good skill" . . . yes. But . . and there is a huge "But". Forgiveness only works when you try really hard not to do it again. So, you can't hurt others, forgive yourself and repeat the same offense over and over. Once you hurt someone, realize your mistake, forgive yourself (because you learned from it). At that poit it has to be part of who you are and an offense that you don't wish...

Is it a good thing that Im 15 but look 17, act 20 and has the maturity of a 30 year old? Why am I not a regular teenager?
Whether it is a good thing or a bad thing is irrelevant. You are what you are. Love yourself but learn yourself. Know that others may see you as older, so this may get you into situations you really don't want to be in. I bet you enjoy things many of your friends do, but if you had rather be reading a book in a quiet park than out shopping in trendy teenage stores, then don't be hard on...

Which do you value more obedience or independence and why?
I value both equally. There has to be a balance. Too much of anything can be a bad thing . . . so, I put no more value on one than the other. I see obiendience as something I have to do for myself- to maintain a happy and healthy life. My independence (thinking for myself) provides me with the reasoning to decide when I need to be obedient and when I don't.

Do you think that text messaging is a plus or a minus in a dating relationship?
That would depend on how it is used. If it's used to say, I'm stuck at the stoplight on 4th and Main St, then it's fine. If it's used for the main method of communication then it's not.

Should AB revert to the old site and have the new one at beta.answerbag.com for us to test until it is ready for deployment?
It has potential. The test site would have been a great idea, or it they could have switched back and forth just the keep the members around. I just want it to be personal. The new one is still a little cold, but I'm sure they will make improvements.

Our politicians often get portrayed as America's nobility, but I blame the media for that.

Answer to:
What is the power of 'thank you'?
Great question. "Thank you" is a way of showing gratitude. Graditude is great for the giver and reciever. It keeps us positive and happy for what we have and what we are to others. Without gratitude, we are doomed. The lack of it would keep us dwelling in the negative.

Do you think the human race will finally evolve into something kinder and better when it can rid itself of all the superstitions of a "god worship?"
It's not the god worship that makes us unkind. It's what we do with that god worship. If we give up our inability to understand others we lose the ability to be kind to those who are different. We don't have to agree with them, we just have to try to understand. God worship only teaches a path, it doesn't mean you have to be unkind to those who don't believe.

I think this is one of the questions that will drive us crazy if we let it. Don't worry about "the meaning of life". Enjoy each and every day and make a difference where you can. One thing I can say for sure is that life is more rewarding when we make a difference in someone's life. So, enjoy life, make a difference and create your own meaning along the way!

Me and my bf had been on for 4 months now just like to know if our relationships will be forever?
We all ask ourselves the same question sooner or later . . . how long will something last? Don't worry about how long it will last, enjoy today, then enjoy tomorrow, then the next day. If it's meant to last and the two of you are willing to keep making the relationship stronger, then it will last, but don't worry about it, just enjoy what you have today!

Do you know of an architecture firm that is hiring newbies? Just got a bachelors in architecture and would like to find a job anywhere in US except Alaska. If so can I get a site or firm address. thanks.
Hi Rosie, hang in there. It may be awhile. Our industry has been hit very hard by this economy. The market is flooded with many extrememly experienced archtiects and designers who are looking for work. Like I said, hang in there, and stay positive, but...

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 3 mths. He recently said he is overwhelmed and needs to do his own thing he's not as happy. He also said he has feelings still and wonders what if with his ex which he ended 10mts ago. What does this mean?
It means you need to give him the space to figure this out. Either the timing isn't right for the two of you or he isn't the right person. When it's right, most things fall into place. You may have some work to do when it's right, but both parties feel that it's right without too many doubts.

How do I deal with accepting there is no god after being raised in a Christian family? So many issues about concept of god, not being there in my life, no proof, just faith which I am running out of.
Follow your heart and your common sense. If you are at a point in your life where you need God, embrace Him. If you are at a point in your life where you need to question, then question Him. It's about being true to yourself not anyone else.

If you could choose your parents, what famous couple would you have chosen?
Good question, but I wouldn't have chosen a famous couple. Call me selfish, but I would have wanted them to spend more time with me and less with work or the media. I also imagine having famous parents would have many other drawbacks. I'm also biased because I had fantastic parents and wouldn't have wanted to have changed very much.

Is it easier to hate or love?
I think that depends on what we are taught. It's difficult to love if all you were taught was hatred and the unwillingness to understand. It's also hard to hate if you are taught understanding and compassion. But there are always situations that teach us the opposite lesson, aituations from bullies in school to the loving touch of a mother or other caregiver.

It's hard to pick one color over another especially since purple and green could mean many different shades, tints, saturations and intensities of those colors. Sure. It actually gives you a great starting point. When you design a house you have to start with something, so why not a faucet. Now, would I walk into an architect's...

Answer to:
Have you ever given a relationship up because you felt being alone would simply be better?
Yes. I think that's the best reason to give a relationship up. If being alone is better for you than being with your partner, then you should probably be alone and have confidence that it's the right decision. Ususally this happens because one person or both people aren't treating each other respectfully and lovingly or your lives are just moving in different directions.

My bf found a cat a few days ago. We believe someone left her and moved. She is definatly a house cat you can tell. She is well trained. We are keepin her. Wouldn't someone put poster's up if they wanted her back? Is it ok to keep her?
I think it's okay to keep her, but I would put up posters that you found a cat and your number. Some little kid could be really sad that their cat got out and can't be found.

Why is there so much interest in chair designs, according to some museums?
Furniture trends can be more easily seen in chairs than any other items of furniture. In the last 20 years or more ergonomics has become important in task chair designs which added an entirely new realm to furniture museum collections. Companies like Herman Miller and Knoll manage to continue to produce styles that are eventually known as "classics".

Female ABers - if you get a gift of cut flowers (for birthday, anniversary, Mother's Day, etc), do you often end up wishing the giver would have just given you the money spent on them instead, or do you really think flowers are a perfect gift?
I think flowers are an awesome gift and I never wish I had the money. The thing about flowers is that they say "I care". That's the only purpose they serve other than being pretty. It's the point that the giver wanted to give a message and took time to do it. If you can find out what the lady's favorite flower is or what she likes, then it's even more special.

Do you think it toughens kids up when they are teased and bullied?
I think kids need to be teased once or twice to realize how it hurts so they don't do it to others. I don't think anyone should be bullied, ever. I think any more teasing than a few times can be very harmful to a child or any human, it lowers their self esteem and self worth- it's hard to get those back. So, I think being excessively teased or bullied at all can weaken a person.

Answer to:
Do you have any windows in your house that have no window treatments on them? (such as blind or curtains)
In my last home I had large windows that overlooked a huge pond. No treatments were necessary and would have taken away from the great view. It also helps if there is nice molding around the windows. If the home is traditional window treatments are probably needed in order to stay consistant with the style of the house.

Probably not. If the inspector approved it for the rough in he may not approve the change in the final. I would give him a call, to be sure it doesn't fail inspection and you have to do it all over. Better to be safe than sorry. Not to mention that all the inspectors I know prefer for the builder/homeowner to discuss things with them rather than decide for themselves. The conversation...

Because it takes a while for us to realize that we ALLOWED you gentlemen to make us feel that way. I'm not removing accountability from the man, he may be treating her badly or taking advantage of her which he could restrain from doing. But it's our responsibilty to take care...

It sounds like you are referring to tethering. It's where you use the wireless on your phone to get wireless on your laptop (when a hot spot isn't available), by connecting the phone to the laptop. You have to add it to your cell phone plan and get the instructions through your cell provider. It's as simple as giving them a call and paying more money.

What is the best way to help me take my 4yr old's underwear off when helping her to the bathroom? She has a full leg cast due to a spiral fracture.
Take five or six pair of undees to the tailors and have them cut the side of the undees that would go over the cast, and add snaps. This will make it so that they can be put on and taken off easily. It shouldn't cost too much and could be well worth the effort, not to mention that she can then go by herself.

Runner on 1st, Batter hits HR w/ 2 outs. Runner misses 2nd base, goes back to touch it with batter on base also, batter doesn't pass runner. Both go on to score. Opponent appeals and tags second when ball put in play. Do runs count?
I think only ne run counts. You can't have two runners on a base at the same time. What I don't recall is if one of the runners has to be tagged with the ball (even after touching home), if the base can be tagged, or if the fielding team has to do anything other than appeal.

She's probably really mad at herself for the way you have treated her all this while and she put up with it. That's proven by how long it took you to hook up with someone else (I'm assuming the party was pretty soon after the break up). She broke up with you, so it officially ended, but we know that emotions don't end so quickly.

There's always something missing in my life, can you tell me what it is?
I'm not sure, but I do know what most people seem to be missing in their lives and that's love for themselves. Not arrogance, but calm confidence to look out for themselves by not letting others mistreat them, by not being true to who they are, by letting others dictate the way they live their lives when they know they need to live it differently and finding happiness within...

When people say "life is too short", is that an Excuse, a Complaint, or an Apology?
I find it to be a "reason". A reason to not let life pass you by, to not love enough, or to not enjoy the day as it is. Life is too short!!

Hi joeslm, I notice this is your second question about tumors. This might be very serious, so don't take it too lightly. But at the same time, don't worry too much. Worry enough to take the necessary actions to get it taken care of. I'm not trying to be smart here, but have you talked to a doctor yet. How big is the tunor? How long have you had it?

In Warren v. D.C, 444 a.2d1 (DC. CT Ap. 1981), The DC highest court states the Government has NO duty to provide police protection to any citizen after 3 women were raped for 14 hrs and police never came after being called several times? Opinions?
If there isn't a mitigating factor that we haven't heard about, I have a difficult time with this ruling. Our tax dollars should pay for this protection. I understand that they can't protect everyone at every moment, but neglecting to respond to a call and that it's not their responsibility, sounds to me like some judge/s need to be voted out of office.

Husbands: when you put your wife on a starvation diet, do you think its fair that she still has to prepare your meals?
Ouch! A couple of things here. I hope your, or anyone else's husband, doesn't dictate what they do, especially like a diet (if he's helping you/her with a diet due to a request, then that's okay). Secondly, to force the wife to be on a diet and make her cook food she can't have is just harsh, lol. My will power isn't that good, I hope yours/hers is. ;)

I have noticed and have heard that the better your physical fitness, than the slower you breathe why is that? how is that beneficial?
Here's a guess. Your lungs are in shape too and don't need to push as hard, so you breath more slowly and deeper supplying the correct amount of oxygen to the rest of your body. I've had activity induced asthma and the better shape I'm in, the less difficulty I have. Hi Baalshem!! Happy Monday. :)

I think allowing us to see our fallen troops' flag-draped coffins returning from the battlefield honors them more than hiding it from us. As long as the families of these brave soldiers approve, I see nothing wrong with it. How do you feel?
I agree that the families should approve. I also think we should see the truth even if the truth is a soldier coming home this way. It will also help everyone understand the affects of war- real people are affected. Images like this are part of the overall picture.

That's not fair to you. You married her, not him. But on the flip side, nothing is really "fair". Discuss it with the both of them that you want to deal with her. Let him know that it has nothing to do with him, but that the kids need to see their parents working together. Be nice, and easy to get along with, but make it "all about the kids". Just don't...

I wouldn't worry about Christian views. Christians seem to think differently about most situations. Are you doing something that you feel good about . . . that's the real question. Personally, I think you are helping a few women enjoy themselves and that's a good thing. Not to mention that if you have an open mind it could be fun listening to them have a good time.

I am a catholic. Whenever I commit a sin that seems like it deserves punishing, I punish myself by hurting myself (punching a wall, make a small cut in the arm,etc...). Is this against my faith? Should I stop?
I don't know if it's part of your faith or not, but you should love yourself enough not to do yourself harm. If your faith is keeping you from thinking for yourself, then it's hurting you as much mentally as it seems to be phyiscally. A true God doesn't want you to give up the amazing gift of thinking for yourself.

Because we are constantly changing. Our priorities, values, likes and dislikes can be evolving throughout our lives, thus making it so we feel we are still trying to figure our who we are. Get very quiet and learn to listen to your inner thoughts.
I'm going through this myself, so you aren't alone. ;)

How long does it take to prepare a wedding with about 100 people?
The biggest problem is reseving the vendors you wantfor the day you want: the location, photographer, caterer, etc. This has to be done months in advance. If you aren't peculiar about where, who, and how, then it really won't take as much advance notice. You really could do it within a couple of months- you just can't be as choosy.

I'm sorry I don't have a real answer to your question, but they may not be around as long as we think. Not only is there a problem with a lack of food due to their habitat disappearing, they are also beginning to mate with grizzlie bears. Eventhough this will create a new species, it will quicken the extinction of the polar bear.

I agree with the birth control idea. Oral contraceptives lessen the menstral pain, help regulate moods, and even make those "wonderful" monthly days shorter. However, I would not take the shot. Many gyn's aren't suggesting it any longer. Go talk to your gyn, not a general doctor because they aren't up on the needed meds like the gyns, and find out what he/she thinks.

I was 18 and did something stupid, as many 18 year olds do. I was sitting on the bed wearing a pair of shorts. Spread my legs apart and was ironing a shirt on the bed in front of me. Iron slid down towards my inner thigh and left a nice little singe mark. Boy did that hurt. Scar has completely disappeared now, but the careless ironing escapade has stayed with me.

I am a Christian, and I am going through hard times right now. Why does God give some people easy lives, and give me hard lives? Why does he give some people so many talents and give me none?
I don't know what is going on in your life, but try being positive and grateful for what you have. You can make yourself miserable by wanting more. Learn to love life and enjoy every minute. It's about helping yourself, not about God helping you.

Why do so many women get so uptight about their men looking at porn? Do they feel threatened in some way? (Serious question - I just don't understand it)
Many reasons, but most of them have to do with the relationship- not necessarily only her self esteem. Depends on how often he views porn, how important it is to him, does the man tell his partner that he's attracted to her, how is their sex life, how does he treat her, does she feel loved by him. Do you think single women should be limited to the amount of kids they can have?
This isn't answering your question, but if a single woman is financially capable of caring for the children and compassionate, then I wish she would adopt as many children as she can handle. There are so many children out there that need loving parents.

Answer to:
Is it wrong of me to let my 16 month old watch a film before bed every night?
It's not "wrong of you", but it may not be a good idea. If the child gets in the bed and then watches then he/she might not feel comfortable going to sleep without it. Listening to you read a story before bed gives them time to wind down and relax, which makes it easier for them to go to sleep.

Answer to:
Should parents go to prison if their children don't go to school?
I don't think so. If a parent doesn't send their child to school, then they don't understand the importance of an education and don't know any better -they need to be taught, not imprisoned. If the child is sick, no. If the child is a teenager and skips, no. If the child is being home-schooled, no. I imagine there could be a few other reasons as well.

In the office there are always b'days showers holidays to be celebrated & message forwards of promotional items and charities fillling inbox. How can those who actually work extricate themselves from this nonsense without being a b**ch (not that I care)?
It's very important to get along with co-workers even important to have good relationships with them. It helps build morale, collaboration and even sparks creativity. If the company's culture is as you stated above and if you are one of those people who hate these type of things find a job where you don't work in an office.
As a general rule, the better you are at building...

Answer to:
Do you feel others are sometimes offended when you reply you don't know or you really don't care? Neither said to be a smart alec, I just don't I have an enlightened opinion on some things and others are none of my business.
The words "I don't care" come across dismissive and can be offensive eventhough you don't mean them to be. You could say "it's not something I think about" or "I don't have an opinion". It leaves the other person feeling more comfortable which is important for relationships.

Well I want to paint my livingroom, My couches are a light brown, my tile is a cream and very light brown. So I want to know what color I should paint the walls and celing??? Any idea would realy help!!!
So far everything is neutral so you can almost paint the walls any color. What other colors do you have in the rest of the house? You could tie the rooms together with color distribution. You final color choice also depends on how dramatic or subtle you want the room to be.

Is it of practical benefit to question the grounding of commonly held beliefs, including our own?
Yes, especially my own. As we get older we change and we shouldn't maintain our origianly beliefs if we feel and think differently. Often we continue to "believe" the way we do because it's easier than to challenge ourselves.

Can patience be learnt?
Yes, it takes time. The first step is recognizing that one isn't patient and noticing when it happens. As they notice more, they will start to notice sooner and be able to change their reaction while it is happening. After awhile, they would be able to control the reaction before it happens.

If your spouse or partner went behind your back and lost $40,000 at the casinos, what would you do?
Hey George. That would depend on your financial situation and what expectations there are about disclosing each other's spending. If there is plenty of money and you don't really tell each other how you spend, then I don't see a problem. If money is tight and you both openly discuss how you spend your money, then you have a serious problem. For me, if my husband lost $40k...

I dyed my hair light brown, from orange red, which was the natural color. And Now i have blonde bags. So I was wondering, how long will it take to go back to red?
It's possible that the color won't fade out and that it would be there until it grows out. I would go to a hair stylist and pay them to fix it. Once you figure out what colors your hair can take, then you can do it yourself. Good Luck!!

Lizzie, go to class. Learn to get over your shyness. You do that by putting yourself in uncomfortable, but healthy, situations and gain confidence. Everyone is shy when learning something new, just don't let yourself not experience life because you are shy. After doing it for awhile you'll get more comfortable. Good Luck my dear!!

Is Obama off to the worst start of any President, ever?
One thing I actually do like about what's happening is that he's honest. He has owned up to a mistake or two and takes responsibilty for them. I find it disturbing when a president can not admitt he made a mistake for fear of losing respect. I respect someone more for truthfulness with themselves and others.

I can't support you on this one. Kelloggs saw it as a business decision and probably even a moral one. Keep in mind that Kelloggs produces a great deal of children's cereals and it would probably be bad for their reputation to continue his sponsorship.

"Just married" here. My wife is pregnant, but I have no time or money to take care of the baby. If I will not convince her to do an abortion, we will probably leave the baby in an orphanage. Is this still a sin? I mean he'll be better off...
No, it's a wonderful thing to do. There are plenty of people who want to adopt. You could even go a step further and approach an adoption agency now and find a family that wants to adopt. This way you can get to know them and determine if they are good people. It might make you and your wife feel more comfortable about the adoption. They also may be able to assist with medical bills....

You can decide if you are going to let it upset you or not. If she knows it bothers you, then she will probably do it more. I've been there and nothing good can come out of worrying about her calls, so decide that it's not an issue and let it go. She'll stop.
