I have many talents, but none are hidden. Most of my life I've paid attention to what I can easily do (talents) and what is difficult. The bigger challenge is to find ways to overcome those difficulties and manage to do the things that I DON'T have a natural talent for, such as learning Italian.

We are just now entering the era of LED bulbs for general purpose lighting. Costs will go down as production increases. Expect them to be about $5 soon.

There's no objective way to measure difficulty, and it depends in part upon what you know already. It is easier to learn a language with structural similarities to your own, for instance in Spanish words have a gender,...

Is there a weapon in existence: that if used, will destroy the entire Planet & which Countries have this weapon?
That was basically the danger of biological weapons, which is why there were treaties to stop their use. Even if you dropped it on an island such as Japan, there's no guarantee it couldn't travel on a bird or whatever to another land mass.

They're probably disappointed that you are unable to assemble something as simple as a question. A question will include words such as "who," "what," "why," and end with a question mark. They probably told you that you need to stay home and study instead of playing with goober and skeeter, and the evidence suggests that they are right.

Yes, you can get as many undergraduate degrees as you want to from any institutions, as long as you are accepted, enroll and complete the requirements. But why would you want to get more than one undergraduate degree? Graduate degrees are usually shorter and often easier. Many Masters degrees for instance take only one year to complete.

"Fear" isn't something that's real. It has no substance, it's not measurable, it takes place only in your mind. Yet it is a part of your reality and colors your experiences. Your reality, running scared through the streets of New York City would be different from one who walks through those same streets with confidence. We call both experiences reality though.

It would be simpler if we divided people into two camps, one group that wished to kill everyone and one group that would spare every life, but then the life-sparers, once separated, would probably come to conclusion that they need to kill the killer group for the greater good. But the non-killers thereby become killers and the cycle repeats.

It's more likely that you're too stupid to face the consequences of sex, rather than the sex itself. People who can't understand the risk of pregnancy, what it takes to raise children properly, and the risk of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases don't have any business having sex.

Who are the models that pose nude for medical anatomy textbooks?
Whether or not they are paid is up to the author(s) and publishing company, but either way, they must sign a model release form. Generally they are professional models. It is much more efficient to use professional models because they don't give you grief about whether or not a photo is flattering and such things, and they quickly grasp what is needed in a particular pose.

How can I rehydrate a cracked, checkered and desiccated wood log?
I would say it's not worth trying. Even when rehydrated, the cracks won't go away. But if you're really determined, one of the best ways would be to place it underwater for a year. Wood will rot if it is an alternating wet-dry environment, but not if it is just wet the whole time; this is a time-honored technique for seasoning wood for boat building.

When the painters got word that you were going to lay off 20% of their workforce and expect them to do the work of the 5 man crew, they went on strike. They will remain on strike and will not paint the wall until you re-hire the 5th man and restore their health benefits.

While spaceships cannot as far as we know travel at the speed of light, photons can. If you aim two flashlights at each other and turn them on simultaneously, their beams each travel at the speed of light and converge upon the center... at the speed of light. This is of course counter intuitive... "why isn't it 2x the speed of light?" It just isn't, blame Einstein.

It will come soon enough. But you'll find that being grown up and "free" is not really free. We don't have a choice on whether or not to work... we work or we starve. We don't have a choice on whether or not to wash... we wash, or we stink and feel miserable. We don't have a choice on whether or not to pay taxes, we pay or we go to prison. The list goes on and...

Many possibilities... if the slab is over a basement, above a water heater or furnace for instance. If it's a slab on grade (on dirt), I'd wonder if there was a "radiant floor" heating system in the floor; It's possible to have an old system that still partially works although previous owners installed another heating system.

Which, in your opinion, is more susceptible to corruption science or religion?
Unlike religion, good science DEPENDS on opening itself up to the scrutiny of peers and having them verify one's findings. If you claim you have made a miraculous discovery of a perpetual motion machine, it is meaningless and nobody will take you seriously if you won't let other scientists examine it and verify it. This is a very effective deterrent to corruption.

In the USA is is always considered rape if you have sex with someone who is unable to give consent whether it is because they are underage, mentally unfit, injured, drunk, drugged, or otherwise incapacitated. This ensures that "date rape" cases where women are drugged and then raped are indeed prosecuted as rape.

Is it wrong to give children alcohol with dinner?
Cultures where it is acceptable (France, Spain, Italy, Jewish households) tend to have a lower rate of alcoholism and binge drinking than the US, with it's "no alcohol until 21 then all you want of any sort" law. Clearly you can't teach responsible drinking if you don't teach drinking.

Our cat is house trained, after 5 years she was recently started to wee and poo around the house, does anyone know why this may be, she is about 7 years old.
I heard that happens sometimes when a cat starts to lose its sense of smell. You might consider changing litter brands (can't hurt) and having a specific eating and pooping time in a limited area, the kitchen or the basement, and not let her out until about an hour after you set the food out. Hope it helps.

Should I get a divorce? My wife and I fight all the time. We don't speak for days. We have 3 children, 3 houses and a bunch of stocks. I think I want to get separated, but am worried about losing my shirt in the divorce proceedings. I am in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania divorce law sucks if you're male, but other than that, sure. But have you considered any other options? One is laying your cards on the table and requesting your wife see a shrink. She might (or might not) be willing to change rather than quit. Another is to just live in separate houses and not bother with the divorce. Know that if you get divorced, you will see the kids...

Stanford is in the heart of Silicon Valley, so you would have the opportunity to pursue an internship at some of the top electronics firms in the world while studying there. That would be fine, but the big problem is portion size. If your daily steak is 1/2 inch thick and 2" in diameter, and your beer is a 6 oz juice glass full, you have a healthy portion of each. But if you have a 48oz porterhouse and a six pack of beer, you will likely become obese and die of heart disease in pretty short order.

I am confused at "all you can eat" sushi. I want to try new things, but if I don't like it and it sits there, they don't ask what I want next. What do I do?
They want to make sure you aren't just wasting food, and it's typically against the rules to eat just the fish and leave the rice. So figure you can only get away with leaving something uneaten once per meal. Start with things you know and like, and late in the meal try ordering one thing that you're not sure about. If you like it, you can try another thing you're not sure...

Do you believe in that life came from non-living matter? (Abiogenesis) Why or why not?
Yes. One hint is that biological things are made of the same "stuff" as non-biological things: Carbon, water, calcium, etc. Another is that complex processes happen all the time in non-living matter; rain falls to the ground, chemical reactions happen, things boil, things cool. Biological processes all follow the rules of physics and chemistry. If instead all living things...

You should give the truck back. If you don't, 1) they might sue you to get it back 2) they will blackball you in the industry 3) you might retroactively be guilty of not declaring it as income, which is a federal crime. The company might tip off the IRS out of spite. And you will have to go through an audit of the last 11 years of tax records.

Huskies are among the least tame dogs, and they are among the biggest problem for farmers when they run loose. They love to hunt and kill, and if they are able to get into a chicken pen for instance, they won't just kill a single chicken and eat it; they will kill them all.

The first thing I'd suspect is that you aren't accurately tracking your mileage. You must fill it all the way, manually to be accurate; if someone is pumping for you and stops when the auto nozzle turns off, you might be down by a gallon or more which will throw off the calculations.
Second, if you buy a tank of gas with substantial alcohol content, you will get lower mileage since...

You might find it started already. Perhaps the start was in Iraq, followed by Afghanistan and Pakistan. Which leads later to lobbing some nukes at India, and simultaneous all out war in the Middle East and Indonesia. Iran lobs a missle at Tel Aviv, and North Korea decides it's a good time to take a shot at Tokyo. Before you know it, half the world is at war.

In the new Star Trek movie, of the two male leads, Chris Pine as Kirk & Zachary Quinto as Dr. Spock, whom were you more drawn to if either, & why (i.e., was it the acting, the character himself, or both)? Did you like how their characters were developed?
I thought most of the characters were better developed in the movie than in the old series. Chris and Zachary both did a splendid job and both redefined the roles. Zachary's role was a bigger leap from the Spock of old.

If I'm going to eat the skin, I wash the fruit, because, as mom always said, you don't know where it's been or if a dog peed on it. I use a little dish detergent if it's sticky or waxy, but if it looks clean I just rinse and towel-rub it.

It's not quite that simple. Perhaps we should have the same regulations about killing unborn babies as we do annoying old people? Or wayward teens?
Even if it is "legal safe and rare," there should be more acknowledgment of the taking of human life; such as having a dignified burial for the fetus instead of tossing it in the dumpster in a yellow trash bag.

What are three reasons not to kill one's self?
Because it's very selfish. If you become a regular blood donor and gave 6 times per year, you could save 30 or more lives per year just with your blood. Whereas killing one's self and therefor not donating blood for the next 33 years, a thousand people will die.
If you could save a thousand lives in such a simple way, think of what you could accomplish if you REALLY applied yourself.

Do we all think in the same language?
Of course not. Unless you're trained in classical music, for instance, you can't think in the language of classical music as a conductor, musician, or composer does. You have no conceptual basis nor language to distinguish the bridge from the coda or to tell the Viennese solo concerto form from the Rondo.

Answer to:
What are invertebrates? Why are some animals classified in that group? Is it because of their behaviour or something?
It is the backbone (not the spinal column) that distinguishes vertebrates from invertebrates. While many invertebrates have spinal column-like nerve bundles, they do not have skeletons or backbones. A lobster for instance, instead has an exoskeleton. Its hard structure is on the outside rather than the inside.

How nice for you! Usually reactions like that are roughly 1/3 a reaction to the perfume and 2/3 a reaction to you and your personal smells. The two have to work together for the best effect; some scents are great on one woman, but terrible on another.

My baby stopped gaining weight at 6wks he was exclusivley breastfed, now im supplementing with formula & he is gaining terrifically well. Can i overfeed him feeding him both breast & formula??? though i dont know how much breastmilk im making. Pleasehelp
It shouldn't be a problem. Some babies are just big eaters, as my son was. We had to supplement with formula, and then had to cut larger holes in nipples because he was frustrated with the slow flow rate and his head would get covered with sweat from him working so hard to get nourishment. After that he was much happier.

On my last iq test i scored a 186. why then am i unable to use my smarts to make a good living for my wife and myself? or even spell properly (good).i dont undersiand why i dont have the drive to excel to greatness,or just better our lives.
IQ only measures a small subset of human capabilities. It tells you nothing of your aptitude for music, for instance (musical intelligence) or your ability to schmooze with other people (intrapersonal intelligence). If you are painfully introverted and can't talk to other people, most people would not want to hire you. People skills win out over "test smarts" any day.

What should you do if you are a white girl from the usa and you love latin men and have your heart set on a latino boyfriend? I'm not racist but I'm just not interested in men from my culture, can I ever find a boyfriend I love?
I think you should start by learning Spanish, and learning about Latin culture. Next, remember to be as selective as you would be if you were interested in boys in your own neighborhood. In other words, hooking up with a charming Hispanic man who's in a college class with you and planning on becoming an engineer is more promising than with the guy who comes to clean your pool.

I think it's important for kids to have access to art materials, time, and space at home to pursue art on their own, to the extent it's possible, since schools seem to have less and less each year. I think you have to balance seeing/ experiencing with doing, so you should try to get to museums and such as well. It's important to give kids a...
