Im backpacking around world for a year. Do i take my digital SLR or a decent point and shoot camera? My travel priority is fantastic photos, but will the SLR be too big, get in the way, or temp theft from locals crooks around the world?
Crooks are just as tempted by P&S cameras. In fact, the traditional body design of dSLRs makes them look like film cameras (and thus less attractive).
If you have enough experience with the sSLR to take great photos, use that. Make sure to buy a battery grip (if it's Canon, I don't know if Nikon has those), or something that will allow you to have enough battery life to last...

Is Moore's Law going to end?
I don't think it will end anytime soon.
We're running out of time for normal transistors, though. Modern computers run at around 3 GHz. That's 1/3000000000th of a second per clock cycle. In that amount of time, light could go about 10cm. I'm not sure how far electrons have to travel in a CPU per clock cycle, but if you consider that our transistors are already only 32nm...

How negative hexadecimal numbers should be represented and handled?
There are two ways. Sometimes, one would write something like -A to be -10. Other times, one uses the bit sequence for the number.
For example, we know 5 is 101 as an unsigned integer, so it's 0101 as a signed integer, so -5 is 1011 as a signed integer, which is 11 as an unsigned integer. Thus, the hex code would be "b". If we're using 32-bit integers, the hex code would...

Science let's us know things because we observe actions (or so I have come to phrase for this question), but what possibly could we not be seeing? Any...extra dimensions?
We've hypothesized the existence of either 10, 11, or 26 dimensions. Superstring Theory ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_string_theory ) talks about this.
While it'll be a while until we figure this out, and there will always be more things to discover, we already know that any observations that we've done are just one representation of something.

I don't think that's a big deal. As long as both people are respectful and keep it appropriate at work, it's fine.
It can get awkward but if the participants are mature and responsible, it needn't be.
And just screwing is a lot better than a real, serious relationship.

What is IPV6?
It's a network addressing system.
In the current IPv4 system, there are only 256*256*256*256 = 4294967296 possible IP addresses. We're going to run out VERY soon.
IPv6 offers WAY more (2^128 in total) addresses. It also offers some other features like simpler configurations and more efficiency.

If you smoke a lot, the THC will build up in your fat. It takes about 30 days without smoking for it to dissipate. Assuming they perform a urine test, you can smoke all you want up to a month before the test.
I recommend taking a break, though. It's good to flush out your system completely every once in a while.

If I apply for two different vacancies, each with a 50/50 chance of getting the job, is it 'in total' more likely that I'll get a job than if I only applied for one vacancy with a 50/50 chance of getting the job? Or is the total still 50/50?
There are four distinct, equally likely outcomes:
Job one hires, job two hires
Job one hires, job two doesn't
Job one doesn't, job two hires
Job one doesn't, job two doesn't
As you can see, in three of the four outcomes, you have a job. Therefore, there's a .75 probability that you'll have a job if you applied to two places with 50/50 chances.

A couple of simple math questions
Q1. A straight line has a gradient of 3 and passes through the point (1,9). The equation is...?
Q2. If two lines 5x-y+7=0 and ax+2y-11=0 are parallel then a equals...?
Don't know how to set out or answer. Thanks
Q1. Let's use point-slope form: y - 9 = 3 * (x-1). Then, put in y=mx+b form: y = 3x + 6.
Q2. Put into y=mx+b form, we get:
y = 5x+7
y = (ax-11)/-2 = (a/-2) * x + 5.5.
So, we want the slope to be 5 so (a/-2) = 5, so a = 5/-2 = -2.5

The earth is filled with too much evil and bad things for there to be God ? True or false? do not be rude. You are entitled to your opinion but you can do that nicely.
While I'm a devout atheist, that argument is not one of my favorites. There could be a God but it might not be a merciful God. It might be preoccupied with other things, like smoking a galaxy-sized joint.
In the grand scheme of things, the Earth is absolutely insignificant. There's no reasonable reason for a God to care about us unless we were somehow important to the God. But it...

A lot of theories suggest that inflation really isn't that big of a deal. I think that it's crucial to support the backbones of our economy and not waste billions of taxpayer dollars on AIG executives and the like.

Projectile math problem?
If you shoot a golf ball (46g) at a 45 degree angle and it travels 300ft how fast is it going on average in feet per second?
(Disregard environmental conditions and assume the golf ball was shot at ground level)
By "travels 300ft", you mean it hits the ground 300 ft from where it was hit?
Let's first get everything into metric. 300ft = 91.44m.
Some helpful formulas:
d = v*v/g
t = sqrt(2) * v / g
So: 91.44 = d = v*v/9.81
v = 3.05m/s
t = sqrt(2) * 3.05 / g = 4.31s
So we know it took 4.31s to travel 91.44m, and speed is in m/s, so it was averaging 21.22m/s in horizontal...

Well I am bisexual, but my family makes me go to church and be religious and stuff... well am i being a bad christian/person? My parents don't know, should i tell them or should i not, they might try to change how i am though?! Can you please help!?
No, you're not a bad person. Anyone who tells you otherwise is intolerant.
If you decide to tell them, you could jeopardize your relationship with them. While I personally would not want to be associated with bigots, it could be very difficult for you to thrive without parental support.

Not without imposing some strict regulations on what the auto companies have to do in order to get it paid back. When we gave AIG money, their executives took multi-million dollar vacations. Let's not let that repeat.

Some guys start looking in high school. I don't feel ready for a serious relationship, though, and I'm a sophomore in uni. It seems that really starts to be very common Junior year (although it's not rare to find guys in very serious relationships beforehand).

Then they throw a pie in your face. Then they throw you off a cliff. Then they kill every single decent human being and animal on the planet.

Someone's going to say that life's all about asking the right questions. In fact, if HasntBeen notices your query, I'm sure he'll respond with something like that.
However, that's totally wrong. Answers are a synthesis of creativity, experience, and rhetoric. A good answer will be concise and easy to understand, yet deep and thought-provoking. The most helpful...

For any science teachers out there, or anyone who can answer: what can you put down for a question on a lab that says "suggest improvements to the experimental design" or "list sources of nonhuman error"? I can never get these right!
Improvements to experiment design:
Larger scale.
More trials.
Purer ingredients.
More accurate and precise equipment.
(Plus a bunch of context-dependent things.)
Sources of nonhuman error:
Purity of ingredients.
Accuracy and precision of measuring equipment.
External disturbances, like humidity of air.

Hi! I am 21 and have been with my boyfriend 8 months now, and I love him, but I have a small crush on my female boss. Even though she is a lesbian, there is no way it could go anywhere for many reasons, but I'm still scared to tell him. Should I?
Unless you think there's a chance of a threesome with him and your boss, I wouldn't tell him.
It's perfectly natural to have crushes on plenty of other people. For example, no matter how much I love my significant other, I'll always be have a crush on Natalie Portman.

Meat, vegies, or both? I just overheard a hilarious argument that vegetarians are a threat to our oxygen producing plants? Is anyone else laughing? I mean I know the animals eat plants as well. What do you think about the validity of this argument?
That argument is bullshit. One cow probably eats more plants before it's slaughtered than you will in your lifetime.
The fact is that the further up the food chain you go, the less efficient it becomes.
And I'm a proud meat lover. I just admit that I'm destroying the environment.

I am a counting number. All three of my digits are even but different. I am divisible by 4. The sum of my digits is 12. The sum of my units and tens digits equals my hundreds digit. What number am I ? (You must show your work)
Counting number = integer?
The number is in the form abc
a=b+c
a+b+c = 12
------------
a+a = 12
a = 6
So our number is 6bc.
Our options are now 642 and 624. 624 / 4 = 156. 642 isn't evenly divided by 4. So the number must be 624.

Not when you pirate it ;)
Software is relatively cheap. Hundreds of hours of labor go into a product that usually sells for under $50. I've used OS X for probably a thousand hours since I've had my Mac. Getting 1000 hours of use out of something for $129 is a very good deal, if I may say so myself. 1000 hours at a movie theater would cost a great deal over $4000.

I'd probably abort them both, though. I have no desire to have children at this stage of life.

Warren Buffett, once the third richest man in the world, pays a lower tax rate than his secretary. And that's, according to him, without even trying dirty tricks to lower his tax rate. With skillful donations and moving money around in just the right ways, he could have further reduced his tax rate. Our laws that deal with giving money to charities also allow the...

Have you tried to get a girlfriend? It's not something that just magically happens. You need to actually make an effort to impress some lady enough to make her want to spend time with you.
You should identify the bottleneck. Are you getting first dates? Are you having trouble asking women out on dates? What's the hitch?

Find a friend, sibling, or parent to act as an intermediary to a funding source. I recommend www.Prosper.com. It's very secure. I'm a lender there. As long as you can convince someone 18 or older with a good credit score to get a loan, you should be able to get the money with as low as a 10% interest rate. If you can make up $2500 in 6 months, making up $3625 (a 15% interest rate)...

Answer to:
Can you help me with my daughters homework?
DOG +
CAT =
TOAD
Each different letter stands for a different digit. Find an addition problem that works on a 7th grade level?
.DOG
+CAT
--------
TOAD
We know O must be zero because O+A=A.
T must be 1 because C+D cannot be greater than 18.
So we have:
.D0G
+CA1
---------
10AD
We also know that:
D + C = 10
G + 1 = D
Rearrange:
D = 10 - C
D = 1 + G
So C + G = 9
C could be two, in which case D = 8 and G = 7. A could be 3, 4, 5, or 6.
So we could have:
807 + 231 = 1038.

Why do people say that whole milk is unhealthy, if almost anything is only unhealthy in excess? I just read an article talking about switching your kids onto 1% milk as soon as possible (less calories), but kids should eat healthy rather than diet, right?
It's not. That article is propaganda. Kids need to stop eating things like fast food, millions of snacks, and so much candy. A glass of whole milk has nine grams of fat. A quarter-pound cheeseburger has 25. A personal Meat Lover's pizza has 49 grams.
Milk good. Junk food bad. It's that simple.

Are the words "supposedly" and "supposed" interchangeable in certain contexts? For example, "What does the test cover?" "You're supposed(ly) vast knowledge of all things." This is actually a bet with one of my co-workers. Thanks!
In that context, only "supposed" works.

They aren't fully interchangeable because one is an adverb and the other is an adjective.

I'm not sure what you want but it can be accomplished via Javascript. I recommend the jQuery Javascript library to simplify everything. Check it out at http://jquery.org. Check out some of the demos in the documentation.
Can you clarify exactly what you want to happen? The way you describe, some page is at the bottom of itself, which is impossible. Do you mean the content of the page...

Why not select high quality to buy less rather than poor quality to buy more?
It's a simple cost analysis:
Dr. Thunder, Walmart's imitation Dr. Pepper, costs $2.25 per 12 pack. Dr. Pepper costs $3.50 per 12 pack.
So, to switch to buying Dr. Thunder costs me $1.25 per 12 pack. The added utility that I get from Dr. Pepper over Dr. Thunder is less than the utility I could get from spending the $1.25 on more Dr. Thunder.
This generalizes in many scenarios...

The death penalty makes no sense, though. I'm glad they ruled this way. No, I don't think rape of any kind is even somewhat tolerable. Yes, I think these people should receive punishment. Everyone likes to be pleased. Perhaps men are just more vocal about it....
That question is perfectly valid. For any relationship to thrive, both people need to be interested in each other. If the woman is still interested in the man, she might be puzzled why he is losing interest in her.
Men aren't gods. But it should matter what makes men lose interest in women, just as it matters...

Images are required to be rectangular. Use transparency and very thin slices if you must. It's usually better to use text links, though, because they're searchable and search engines can index them.

Tofu is a soy-based cheese-like food. It's delicious. Some people object to its taste or texture, but I find both quite enjoyable. It's a good vehicle for other flavors, since it's quite absorbant. It's also healthy!

I'd beat him up. I could do it with just my left pointer finger, but if he punched me, I'd want him to regret it. I'd start by absorbing the blow and then breaking all of his arm bones with my right elbow. Then, I'd put eight knees into his gut to buy some time. Finally, I'd finish him off with my secret Triple Axel Flying Donkey Kick of Death.

Is home-made Carbonara made with supermarket eggs a salmonella risk?
Nope. If you do it correctly, the eggs will not be runny at all. Heat up the bowl in which the pasta will be served. Then, as soon as the pasta is strained, put it in the bowl, and add the eggs and other parts of the sauce. Use a rubber spatula so ensure that the eggs stay away from the edges of the bowl and get onto the pasta.

When downloading torrents, soppose that there are 1 seeder and 2 peers and each one's speed is 50kb/s. why speed will be only 1 to 5 kb/s ? why they dont use their max upload and download?
The seeder is probably seeding other things, too. Most residential Internet connections have very small capped upload speeds, so seeding any quantity of things will quickly lower the average speed to painfully slow speeds.

7th graders are too young to learn that intensively about any religion. While it's important to foster tolerance from a young age, this Californian program seems to be over the top....

Instead of thinking "I'm attracted to girls" or "I'm attracted to boys", think "I'm attracted to THAT girl" or "I'm attracted to THAT boy". Then, it doesn't matter if you're a lesbian or straight.
Most people are not 100% straight or 100% homosexual. It's a complex spectrum. Just go with what feels right.

If could could design a climate what would it be like?
It would be extremely hot and very rainy at once. The rain would evaporate as soon as it hits the ground. Because there is so much evaporation and rain, the visibility is limited to about ten feet. There is no wind.

What type of font suits you best?
For any school assignment, Times New Roman is required. When I type code, I prefer to view it in Monaco. My website uses Verdana. I think Adventure and Belch are fun fonts but I rarely have uses for them. Garamond is my favorite font with serifs. Helvetica is an awesome font, too.

Suppose you have a loaded coin that lands with probability 2/3 on each flip. Suppose you flip the coin 8 times. What is the probability that in those 8 flips you get an even number of heads? 1
Let P(x) be the probability of getting x heads.
Then it's P(0) + P(2) + P(4) + P(6) + P(8).
Since it's a binomial distribution, we know P(x) = n! / (k! * (n-k)!) * p^k * (1-p)^(n-k)
Plug things in:
P(0) = 8! / (0! * 8!) * (2/3)^0 * (1/3)^8 = 1 * 1 * (1/3)^8 = 1 / 6561
I think you can do the rest.

It appears that Ashlee Simpson's fiance Peter Wentz is a bit on the "bisexual" side. Do you think they will ever get married and if they do that it will last more than six months?
I don't think that his bisexuality would be the factor that causes their marriage to fall apart quickly. Celebrities have a tendency to get into short-lived marriages.

Do you think Gears of War is fun?
It's fun for about an hour, for me. It doesn't hold my attention as well as many other games.
If I am playing an intense FPS, nothing is better than Counter-Strike: Source. For a ton of fun, Team Fortress 2 is fabulous. If I'm with friends, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and Brawl are better than Gears.

You could start by learning how to spell "psychology". Next, I would arrange to have a meeting with an advisor or vice principal.

Is it wrong to flirt if you have a boyfriend or girlfriend? what is conciderd flirting?
Every couple has its own guidelines about what's acceptable and what's not. Some people are naturally more flirty than others. Some people put up with their significant others flirting more.
In general, if you wouldn't do it with your boyfriend around or knowing about it, you shouldn't do it.
Answer to:
Would you rather lose your ability to shut up, and live forced to talk and chatter endlessly as long as you're awake, or your ability to speak, and lose completely your voice?
I don't think that losing my voice would be too big of a deal. I know some sign language and I communicate a lot by typing, anyway.

Is it true that few women admit their age and few men act theirs?
Most of the women I hang around readily discuss their ages. That's because they're mostly 18 and 19, though.
I think older women tend not to discuss their ages, as if they're ashamed of them. Seems silly to me.
I think that many people don't act their ages. I know plenty of immature men and women. Proportionately, I feel there are more immature men, though.

I eat any decoration first, then eat the cake and frosting at the same time.

When I try to be chivalrous, it's interpretted as chauvanism.
