It's really easy: you just have to know to put whatever is in () after the f in for x in the expression. So, some exs: f(1)=1^2+4*1 f(a)=a^2+4a f(x+h)=(x+h)^2+4(x+h) Get it? So: f(x+h)-f(x)/h= (x+h)^2+4(x+h)-(x^2+4x)/h
