About me: "Know Thyself? If I knew myself, I'd run away."
-Goethe

I'm Masha -- I'm from Russia, but have lived in the US for the last seven years or so. I'm vegetarian, an artist, and Atheist, and change radically from a fascinating and pseudo-mysterious person to a depressed and boring one. I smoke like crazy but I hope to quit (someday). I am also bisexual (no, I won't make out with a girl in front of you), a feminist, and pro-choice. Just to make that clear...

This is me, with my disapproving eyebrows:

I am a surreal artist, for the most part; some of my favourite artists include Remedios Varos, Leonora Carrington, William Waterhouse, and Bosch.

I felt a slight jab as I took off my pants.
I looked at the floor and it was covered in ants!
Life bequeths misery and misery is my wife.
She cooks my tea and drinks her own pee.

A historian claims that the fact that Henry VIII was raised in a largely feminine household and that his handwriting bears a similarity to his mother's, shaped his "emotionally incontinent" personality and womanizing tendencies. -article on Jezebel

Ailanthus-altissima: I'm emotionally incontinent. Just this morning, I raged in my pants.

HarpMadness: I have the opposite problem: I'm emotionally constipated.

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it." - Buddha

Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to a better understanding of ourselves. - Jung

Jung is a self-obsessed Christian lunatic. - Dylan

This was written a couple of years ago, but I find that it is much more appropriate now.

Dark and black are dark alike --
You were much too kind
When I came back to hear again
The absence of your mind.
It did not flash in through your voice
Or look me in the eye,
But for that very moment I
Wished I too was blind.
I feel you living, somewhere else,
And deep inside myself,
And in the covers of the books
Upon my dusty shelves.
Perhaps you want us all to die
Just so you would forget
How every time I used to cry--
But you have no regrets.

You invited hollow gods
To live inside your skin.
To take you far away from me,
Your only living sin.
Or maybe dead, but breathing still,
Eleven years ago...
But now you've picked my bones enough,
And I no longer grow.
***
I would like to issue a big Fuck You to my father, the abusive, neglectful, selfish, crazy, controlling asshole. I will never forget the pain you inflicted on me; wherever you are in Italy, I hope you feel it, too.
