Answer to:
Are all Christian denominations considered to have branched off from Catholicism?
Short answer: No.
Longer answer:
I have mostly just commented on answers up to this point, but I want to address some things said in other answers/comments. I defy any Catholic to show where in the Bible authority is established for the Catholic church and for Peter as the first Pope without using Matthew 16:15-18.
A typical Catholic reading of that passage mixes two Greek words to...

Answer to:
Who was King James, and is there any evidence that he edited the Bible to meet his own beliefs?
My own personal favorite here is where it appears that the translators working for King James failed to actually translate some words into English since such literal translation would conflict with church doctrine.
An example is the word "baptism". The word "baptizo" in Greek is literally translated "dip", "plunge", or "immerse". Since the...

Answer to:
Is there a Christian denomination or church that will baptise an adult without requiring him to undergo religious training?
The Church of Christ does not require "religious training". We only require an understanding (and a confession of that understanding) that Jesus is the Christ (the Son of God), that He died for our sins, and that we are lost in our sins without Him. You are then baptized for the forgiveness of your sins. This is in accordance with Acts 2:38, Romans 10:10, and other verses.

Answer to:
What is God's grace?
Grace is getting something you don't deserve. It is God's gift of salvation to those that have faith in him (Ephesians 2:8-10 and Romans 5:1-2).

Answer to:
Which version of the Bible is most widely used?
The New International Version (NIV) and King James Version (KJV) are probably the most widely used in the English language. However, as with all English translations of the original scriptures, there are translation problems. The NIV sometimes sacrifices accuracy for readability. The KJV is good as far as it goes but just doesn't take into account some more recent discoveries like the...

Answer to:
What does it mean to be a "born-again" Christian?
I agree with all the other answers to this question with one addition. Those with Peter in Acts 2 asked this very question. "What must we do to be saved?" Peter answered in Acts 2:38, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the give of the Holy Spirit."
Don't confuse baptism with a...

Answer to:
Did Jesus' teachings replace the Ten Commandments?
Yes.
Obeying Jesus' commandments, as instructed in John 14:15 and other places, is not obeying the 10 Commandments. On the contrary, it's obeying the teachings he left through the Gospels. Keep in mind also that the 10 Commandments are just part of the Old Mosaic Law, not all of it.
A careful reading of the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7) will show that Christ did not nullify...

Answer to:
The fourth commandment states we are to remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy. The Sabbath is a Saturday. Why do we worship on Sunday? Are we exempt from this commandment?
The book of Romans is just one of many sections of scripture that speak to the problem of trying to live justified by the Law of the Old Covenant. Christ's law of grace as brought about by his life, teachings, death, and resurrection was a fulfillment and completion of the Old Law (Rom. 7:4-6 and Rom. 10:1-17).
With that in mind, there is no New Testament scripture that transfers the...

Answer to:
Where is the Protestant religion practiced most?
The question presumes Protestantism is a single religion, which it's not. The label "Protestant" is, in my view, an awkward lumping together of any "christian" religion not classified as Orthodox or Catholic. There is so much diversity of religious beliefs in this broad category (from strict adherance to Biblical teachings to "anything goes") that it's...
