Answer to:
I have a question, Christians, what can you tell or show to prove that there really is a god and hes not just a person or name put into a book with a weird name?
It comes down to a basic question. Do you believe the earth is 6,000 years old or billions of years old. I hold the latter to be true so there cannot be creator. I also do not have proof that Odin, Thor, Ra, Zeus, Unicorns, Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny and Pixies exist, does that make it true also?

Christians what would you lose if you became an athiest?
As an atheist, who was formerly a Christian, you lose many things.
Self delusion, ignorance, intolerance and fear.
Christianity, like all religions are based on a bronze age myth that should have been dropped long ago, we live in the 21st century and we have no need of superstition

Has democracy smothered, independence?
The trouble with democracy is that is akin to mob rule. It is the best of a bad lot when choosing our leaders, but the fact that a good proportion of people who vote, cannot see past the glitz of the candidates or vote for a party because they appeal to their worse natures means we have more corruption.
I see people voting against their own interests, which also baffles me. How a working...

This is no way support for Hammas, (although they were democratically elected) but watching the news coverage here in the west, you would think Israel is utterly blameless in the current conflict. They have effectively blockaded the Gaza strip for years, cutting off much needed food, medicine and fuel, provoked Hammas' more extreme elements to fire rockets into Israel and then retaliated...

Do women realize that most men can’t tell the difference between flirting and being nice?
I utterly refute that statement. I can always tell the difference. The body language of someone being nice is utterly different to someone who is flirting. If they are flirting, they tend to touch more often, hold eye contact and use coded language. If you mean YOUNG MEN (under 25) then you could be right, as they don't even know how to have sex properly yet, never mind know the difference...

Should people vote for a party that outsources jobs, creates McJobs to put in their place and take away basic worker rights. Coupled with, downsizing, longer hours, less pay and no worker protection.
Then you have the tax system that lets multinationals to pay almost zero tax, gives massive tax breaks to the super rich while ensuring the the working and middle classes have higher taxes.

If B or C can beat A's hand, then B or C win both pots. If B and C cannot beat A's hand, then B or C just win the side pot and A takes main pot. Basically A can only win the main pot, B and C are betting on the side pot and the main pot. If B wins the side pot but not the main pot, he just takes the side pot.
Hope that was clear as mud lol

Rewrite the first line of the Bible beginning "In the beginning......................" and can you finish the line creatively in a way that reflects your own belief?

Is Cuba a real threat to the USA? How? Should we lift our embargos?
I find it odd, that many western nations sell billions of dollars of weapons to the House of Saud, that routinely torture, oppress and murder their people, but because Cuba have the temerity to remove a vicious dictator like Batiste and throw out the dregs of the society who bled Cuba dry, the US has to be seen as the protector of special interests.

Yes or No. Is this the best country in the world?
I guess it would be the country where all views are heard without the threat of violence, murder or imprisonment. A country where the people have free education, health care and a welfare state that looks out for it most vulnerable.
A country where justice is blind and all are given the right to take their leaders to task.
A country of meritocracy where all have equality of opportunity...

What do you think of when you see this flag?
It is a symbol of freedom and hope. However it has been tainted in recent years, owing to the foreign policy of the current administration.
Rogues often dress up in the flag of their nation and then accuse dissenters of unpatriotic views.
The best exponent of patriotism is he that stands up for the weak, the poor and dispossessed of a society and fights injustice wherever they meet it.

Perhaps it is because you are trying too hard. Try and relax and do not try to make every situation become a hunt. Men can smell desperation as well as women.

It seems that many people today, especially the under 25's, talk in text speak and this comes across in the written word too.
It seems odd, that they would make the effort of saying things like I lv U 2, or cum e mi house, which must take the same time it does to write it correctly.

I cant even get a plumber to come out in 7 days, so for god it should be a cinch, as it would only take one day as all the other stuff was already created.

Does AB member "Chosen By Grace" give a bad name to Christians? To me he's doing a pretty terrible job at representing the Christian faith or even holding up it's beliefs.
Christians are supposed to be compassionate, forgiving and agents of peace. I always find it odd that these virtues are almost always absent from self proclaimed christians. Instead they come off as smugly self satisfied, sanctimonious bigots. There are however, one or two who practice what they preach.

I just heard on the news that almost all of the mass shootings have had something to do with video game violence, the suspects use the games to become "desensitized." Do you think we should stop making video games that portray shooting other human beings?
Violence in humans is inherent, they didnt have video games, tv or pornography (as such) 1000 years ago, yet we had the crusades, wars, religious genocide, rape, murder and violent assault.

If I don't bash or persecute homosexuals in my day to day life, why are there those that try to convince me that God accepts them and their practices when I clearly see in my copy of the Bible that he condemns them?
I find it strange that religious types go out of their way to condemn all sorts of groups, oblivious to the words of the New Testament.
Surely they should be worrying about their own salvation, instead of finding new ways to judge the actions of others.

How do you feel about a law banning the smacking of children? This is likely to become law in New Zealand, despite there being a majority of the public against the bill.
What lesson does smacking send to children other than violence solves problems?
I have always been against it, as it is counter-productive.
A firm voice is whats needed and not the threat of violence.... I was always more afraid at a lecture than a smacking, as a smacking obly lasts a short time... a lecture is a pain and I would always try to avoid it by behaving

A council designed to protect poverty-stricken Aboriginals in Sydney has reportedly given wealthy boxer Anthony Mundine between $60,000 and $80,000 sponsorship money, saying that it was 'to promote the land rights movement". What are your thoughts?
The treatment of the aboriginal peoples of Australia has been atrocious sice the first settlers landed there. Systematic genocide for a couple of centuries is a scar on that nation. Even though improvements have been made, there is still inherent racism in Aostralia, so this sponsorship deal does little address the serious issue of land rights.

The Gospel Principles says "Christ's atonement makes it possible to be saved from sin IF we do our part." But Ephesians 2:8-9 says "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works." Contradictory?
I am still amazed that religions will pick and choose what parts of texts are relevant and what isn't.
Those with faith dismiss any theory that chalenges recieved wisdom, and say such odd things like "It's not our place to question the word of God", and then still tell us we were given free will.... hmmmmmm, have to love the consistency of their inconsistency

Today is the 200th anniversary of the Slave Trade Act that abolished slavery in the British Empire. How do you think this anniversary should be marked? Do we need to apologise for our ancestor's actions?
It all depends on which point of view you come at it from.
If you are black, you may feel that you are owed some sort of apology, as they were brought here against their will, and in the last 200 odd years, they are still discriminated against, they are more likely to be poor, they are more likely to get jail sentences.
If you are white, you may feel that you cannot be blamed for the sins...

There is a certain island where there are only knights or knaves. Knights tell the truth while knaves always lie. On this island, you meet Peter. He says," Either Michael is a knight or I am a knave."
Is Peter a knight or a knave?
To determine which you are addressing, one question is enough; just ask him if he is the knight. If he is, he will know that he is (since he is accurate) and truthfully will answer yes. If he is the knave, he will believe that he is the accurate truth teller (since he is inaccurate in his beliefs), but then he will lie and say no. So the accurate truth teller will answer yes and the inaccurate...

Why Do Some People Answer Your Question With A Mean Answer? Why Answer It At All, If Your Just Gunna Be Mean
I think that some people are quite insecure and will lash out at relative strangers, probably due to some inadequacy in their lives.
Its very easy for people to be mean to strangers from the anonimity of a computer screen, but you can bet a pound to a penny they are probably victims of bullying, either at home, their school or their workplace.

What do you think of the statement "life is what you make of it"? Do you think it applies to AB?
Like is what you make up..... we are masters of our own destinies and the choice we make take us down different paths.
ABers tend to be intelligent, humorous and even brash and is only a poor reflection of the RL personalities... I find, if you come across an interesting person, its good to chat to them off AB, to see more of the real them and get an insight to them

I have only ever shot a rifle in the Army, and I would never shoot one again. Shooting at human being and being shot at is the biggest eyeopener of just how pointless these things are.
One of my mates, had his head shot off and myself and another comrade (now my closest friend on civvy street) were both wounded, and it makes me chagrin when I see the gun held up as a sort of status symbol.
