Not necessarily. I once adopted a kitten who started to suckle on my 15 year old kitty. It calmed the kitten down and the older cat didn't seem to mind. No harm, no foul. The kitten may have been removed from its mother too early and the suckling makes it feel secure. It will stop soon enough.

I don't know about rotten eggs but I just discovered what was causing a rotten smell in my car. I had a jug of anti-freerze in the back. It had trickled out onto the carpet without me noticing. The whole carpet stinks from mold due to being wet for months.
