How can you measure 1 gallon of juice out a barrel, if all you have available is a 3-gallon and a 5-gallon pitcher?
You fill the 3 gallon jug. Pour it into the 5 gallon jug.
Fill up the 3 again, and then fill the 5 from that. It'll leave 1 gallon in the bottom of the 3, since you can only pour 2 in order to fill the 5.

If you're on a Mac, you can open the file with the included DVD player or VLC. I'm not very familiar with Windows, but you can also use VLC on that. Once you get it open, you can just take a screenshot (on a mac it's command shift 3), windows I think it's alt-print screen.

First off, the hand would be significantly less useful. Imagine trying to pick something up.. it would be not nearly as easy.
If it actually was advantageous, people with mutations that resulted in the exclusive thumb/forefinger setup would be more likely to survive and multiply, and would pass the gene on to their children.

Hard drive manufactures measure using 1000 MB per GB, but the actual conversion is 1024 MB per GB, since it's based on base 2. (2^10) The size reported by your computer is based on the correct 1024 MB/GB number.

If we think of the earth as "floating" like a balloon in space, what keeps it in position in orbit? Sun's magnetic force? Why should the earth "float" in the universe, and not sink down due to all the weight of the people on it?
There really is no "up" or "down", and the only reason why things fall on earth is because of the gravitational pull of the earth.
Earth keeps it's orbit and doesn't "fall down" because there's nothing that it would fall toward that has enough pull to move it out of orbit.

Answer to:
What's faster PHP or .NET?
PHP as of 5.1 doesn't include an opcode cache, so if you don't have that installed, each script you call will have to be compiled on the fly, and your performance will suffer (and will generally be outperformed by .NET, I believe).
Using an extension like eaccelerator or APC will give you a huge performance boost.

Answer to:
What is a "cache" on MySpace?
Cache in general is a way of storing data so that it's faster to access. In the instance of MySpace, it's faster to access data stored in RAM than to access the database.
Cache is also present on CPUs and in desktop applications.
Sometimes cache can be out of date - in general when you make a change that would cause this you "pop" the cache, but sometimes that fails...

What can you do in C/C++ that you can't do in any other programming language?
Everything in C/C++ is available in other languages. I suppose you could argue that the performance you get is better than interpreted languages, and it's easier to develop in than pascal or assembly was. But as far as features go, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have anything unique.

Answer to:
The cookies on my web site seem to expire too soon.
I'm coding the following, for example:
year = '2106';
document.cookie='blah=blahblah;expires=Mon, 1-Jan-' + year + ' 00:00:00 GMT';
Is this correct?
I've had problems setting cookie dates that are to far into the future. I can't find the reference right now, but there might be an issue with using 2106 as the year - try setting it to 10 years into the future instead of 100.
For debugging javascript, I usually make heavy use of Firefox's javascript console.

Answer to:
What is beer pong?
There's actually a lot of debate about which game is called "beer pong".
The first game is actually ping pong played with beer on the table. Hitting the cup makes you drink. I've only played once, about 4 years ago.
The second game is played with a triangle of 10 cups (or 2 triangles of 6, depending on your preference), and the two teams take turns throwing ping pong balls...

What is the difference between connect and pconnect in PHP? Which is better?
mysql_connect opens up a database connection every time a page is loaded. mysql_pconnect opens up a connection, and keeps it open across multiple requests.
mysql_pconnect uses less resources, because it does not need to establish a database connection every time a page is loaded.
