Do Irish and Scottish people know how bad the bagpipes sound? Or are they all tone deaf or something?
I just read through the other answers and it seems like you are completely alone in your hatred for, and ignorance towards, bagpipes.

Answer to:
How many different musical instruments can you play?
I play bassoon, clarinet, and sax. If you counted EVERY instrument, then it would be seven. (alto, tenor, bari sax + soprano, alto, bass clarinet + bassoon)And almost any wind instrument, just not the ones you learn in third grade like recorder or tonette.
Answer to:
When I'm playing a song in my instrument, how can I prevent my mouth not to be tired? Because throughout the middle my mouth/embouchure starts to get loose/tired. I play Bassoon
if you warm up first your mouth won't get too tired. also, if you take a break your mmouth will have time to relax. I play bassoon too and I know how you feel, I'm wondering what music you're playing that you get tired have way through.
Answer to:
Is it true that if you play the oboe or bassoon, and you join the military, you may skip basic training and will get placed in a military band immediately?
I don't know about that, but oboes and bassoons are NOT marching band instruments. It is not possible for a person to march with one. There's no place for music, you could kill yourself on the reed and/or bocal, you need to use a neck strap,(for bassoon), and most people don't. It is true that bassoons and oboes used to be used in marching music, but only as back-up instruments.

Can you play the bassoon with double jointed thumbs?
I am double jointed, and I do play bassoon. I also play saxophone and clarinet. I don't think it matters if you are or not, but if you have small hands it might be hard to get to some keys.
Answer to:
Is the English horn any harder than regular oboe?
I'm sorry, but they are not completely different instruments. A english horn is just a bass oboe, they aren't used very often except for pieces that ask for notes lower than an oboe can play.
Answer to:
What is the name of the saxophone that plays an octave lower than the tenor?
Just like "iwnit" said, a bass is one octave lower than a tenor. There are also contrabass and a sub-contrabass sax made by Tubax. You can see and hear these instruments at http://www.eppelsheim.com/
Answer to:
At what age did you start playing the sax? Do you still play?
I started playing alto in fifth grade after playing clarinet for a year. In seventh grade I played tenor for a few weeks to star, but played bassoon when my teacher asked, I still played alto when we marched though. In eighth grade, I played bari in the jazz ensemble, tenor in marching band, alto in our jazz lab, and bassoon in the concert band.
Answer to:
Woodwind instruments are classified as such because they all share what commonality?
The source of their sound is the WOODEN reeds that vibrate against the mouth piece, (if they use a single reed) If it's a double reed instrument, the two sides of the reed will vibrate against each other.

Answer to:
I play the alto saxaphone. i have been having trouble and my teacher doesn't help me fix it. You see when i play note g it sounds fine, but when i play any note over c it sounds out of tune even when i am tuned. please give advice?
I would say you could try to get in tune, with a tuner and adjusting your embouchure. You might also want to try either a softer or harder reed depending on how your embouchure is like. If all else fails you can take it in and have a professional look at it.
Answer to:
How can you clean the key pads on a flute? I've tried pad cleaning paper but it doesn't seem to help much; the keys are still pretty sticky. Any other methods?
well... you could just go to a shop and see what's wrong. If you don't want to do that, and you want to try recommendations on this site, I think you should be careful with the methods that you try.

Answer to:
Who is your favorite jazz flautist? And why?
His name was Michael Welisevitch, he played flute in my middle school jazz band. He's my favorite because he was willing to play flute in a band that had 4 trombones, 7 saxes, 3 trumpets, a guitar and bass, a drummer, and a piano.
Answer to:
Why is a saxophone a member of the woodwind and not the brass family?
The material of an instrument doesn't classify it. It depends on what makes the sound on the instrument. If it's a woodwind instrument the sound is made by vibrations caused when the player blows into the instrument making the reed move against the mouthpiece, sending those vibrations through the instrument. The same concept goes for brasswind instruments, but the source of the...

I've been looking online for a piccolo, and I came upon this one on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/6458B-C-Piccolo-Resin-Body/dp/B000J3FXIC/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1198697569&sr=1-11 can someone give me any reviews for it?
All I have to say is I would not want to buy an instrument from an online store like amazon, simply because it might not be the quality instument you were looking at. I would try to find an instrument from someone I knew sold quality instruents, like prowinds.com or yamaha.com.
Answer to:
What's your favorite woodwind instrument?
I play three instruments but I can't decide which one I like more. Clarinet, becauseit has a nice, clear sound that is crisp on some notes and smooth on others. Saxophone, because it can adapt to almost any type of music and can be played by almost anyone. And finally, bassoon because it has a larger range of playable notes than nearly every other instrument in todays orchestras.

Answer to:
How much is my metal clarinet worth? It is a 1929 P.X. Laube, serial# P6134, patent # 1705634. It is in good functional condition, and looks nice but needs several pads replaced. Case is missing a handle and is ragged in appearance but otherwise sound.
Judging buy your description of the clarinet, my best estimate for a price would be $150-$325. But the price I just gave you should not be taken as a set price for your particular instrument. Not seeing it in person I cannot be certain of the accuracy of both your description and my interpretation. The price would vary if it is a one piece clarinet or if the cost of fixing it up is more than...
Answer to:
If a music book is written for mini-bassoon, will it differ from the same book if it is written for bassoon?
There would most likely be a difference in what notes were placed on the staff simply because a "mini bassoon" is higher and has a smaller range in playable notes than a regular bassoon. Despite what most people think, "mini bassoons" (known as a faggottini) are not considered "tenoroons" or "altoons", the only reason people call a faggottini,(getting...
Answer to:
What is the difference between a tenor sax and an alto sax?
There are many differences between altos and tenors, even though they both have the same basic shape and fingering. One main differencce is the fact that tenor is in Bb while alto is in Eb, which gives the tenor a deeper sound and tone. The alto reeds, as well as the instrument itself, is smaller and more easily managed than a tenor. Nearly each type of saxophone is used for jazz music, but the...
