Can you give me an anecdote of making a career change late in life?
Susan Boyle was in her late 40's when she went on a national talent show. It took alot of courage for a frumpy middle aged woman, and she has transformed her life as a result. From her example I've learned to go ahead and attempt your dreams.

Answer to:
When ethics and expedience collide, which one wins?
i don't think it's very likely that such an "either/or" situation would exist in nature. for instance, "do i run over the neighbor i hate to save the life of the pet i love?" i mean, how often has any of us ever been called upon to make such a decision? and how likely is it we will ever find ourselves in such a situation?
ok, ok, theoretically, i would, of course save the hated...

Wonder how long it'll take for nature to reclaim by itself and by its own processes an area released completely from urban human occupation.
the vegetation would grow back quite quickly, probably in 2-5 yrs it would look quite untouched. however, buildings, pavement and any other detritus left behind by humanity (such as junk cars, etc) would take much longer to be absorbed by the environment.
now, our front lawn will become a complete wilderness if left unmown for as little as two weeks....go figure
Answer to:
is loving someone for 1 month different from loving someone all your life?
yes, because relationships are constantly evolving, changing and (in good relationships) improving. i've been in love with the same man for many years and my love for him is much different now than it was when i first fell in love with him. my love for him now is fuller, more multi-faceted, and much more satisfying than my "first love" for him. and the first love was thrilling!

What could people do to prevent 'cabin fever'?
First of all, get exercise. Cabin fever, that restless, anxious, itchy feeling is the result of too much confinement and too little physical and mental stimulation. Spend at least a half hour a day, outside, an hour or more is preferable, weather permitting. Shoveling the walk, filling birdfeeders, sweeping the porch, walking to get the mail, etc. are all good ways to occupy yourself...

I have an idea! instead of cutting down a tree this year for jesus' birthday celebrations, why not plant one..come on, dont you think "he'd" want his children to be kind to the planet in which his father was kind enough to supply?
Christmas tree farms are locally owned and operated family businesses in our area, and they are continually replanting the trees with the specific intent that the trees will be cut down. Cutting down a live Christmas tree is an environmentally harmless source of traditional, seasonal fun.

i'm not sure about the appropriateness of the term "winnable" since the war in Afghanistan isn't a "black and white" issue. gone are the days when war was about land-grabbing and once an aggressor was defeated it fled back to it's own boundaries. this is a war of ideologies. it is harder to measure success in such an action but i do believe certain...

of course it is perfectly acceptable. our family has participated in organized shooting sports for years and it is great fun. our son has even competed at a national level and has earned many awards for his skill as a shooter.
other cultures only associate guns with violence because peaceful harmless sports such as target shooting are not enjoyed in their countries

The State of PA has created a statute of limitations of 180 days for discrimination, but cruelty to animals has a statute of limitation of 2 yrs. The 2008 census shows blacks represent only 10% of pop. Why do animals have a stronger statute of limitation?
animals are helpless, voiceless creatures without the ability to recognize/report their rights are being violated, unlike humans, who are usually aware when they are being treated badly. sometimes animal cruelty isn't discovered until well after the fact and the prosecution has two years to discover the crime, collect evidence and prepare a case.

The reason the auto industry is such a mess is the outrageous union contracts that the automakers are burdened with.
this statement is false because of the use of the word, "the" at the beginning. the auto industry is a mess and part of the problem is the high wages they are forced to continue to pay even though they are not profitable, BUT it is only part of the problem.

In some states, schools are required to permit religious answers to exam questions (i.e. how old is the Earth) as per "freedom of religion" legislation. How will this affect the American education system?
the question you state (how old is the Earth?) is poorly worded for an exam since it invites opinion. if the question read, "what do scientists believe is the actual age of the Earth?", the student could answer according to the taught material. since there is no way to tell the actual age of the earth, any stated opinion is guesswork.

A man in Saudi Arabia, is facing 5 years in prison, and 1,000 lashes, for the crime of discussing his sex life on television. Do you think this is fair?
fair is in the eye of the legislature, in other words, if the man broke the laws of his country he should expect to be punished.
if however, he is the only person in his country who is subjected to this law, then that seems a bit unfair to me.

congratulations on your impending adulthood, you are about to leave your childhood behind forever. maturity is based not so much on the numbers of years you've been alive as on your actions and responsibility. you have a whole year ahead of you to "show" (not tell) your mom you deserve to be considered an adult. stop arguing with her, clean up after yourself and offer to help...

So there´s no-one that can even remotly tell who or what god should be without saying: he´s just everywhere and always all around us... that´s damn unsatisfying and a bit saddening actually. COME ON BELIEVERS! WHY IS THERE A GOD AND WHAT OR WHO IS IT!?
who and or what do you want God to be?
it is as impossible for a believer to explain what or who God is to a non-believer, as it would be to try to explain colors to a blind person.
seek to know God, yourself, go to church/temple, read sacred texts, attend worship services, try to pray, these are ways each of us connects with the divine.

yes, any legal document can be contested, even a will! to increase the likelihood that your wishes are followed, make sure your son has a close and loving relationship with your brother. that way two things are accomplished, 1. the boy will have a positive male influence (which is needed) 2. and if the welfare of the child is ever in dispute, the courts lean toward keeping him with someone...

when considering a business venture a quality product isn't enough, there must be a market for your goods/services. perhaps you could try a mail-order business first. test your market by advertising and word of mouth. use the internet, fliers where women congregate, newspaper ads. once you have established the markets needs, you may have the answer you need.
good luck!

On Average. Who works harder at a relationship. The Man or Woman?
there is no 'average' relationship, each is as unique as the people in it. sometimes the one who is more committed is the man and sometimes the one more committed is the woman, but in the BEST relationships there is an equal commitment and the burden of work is shared.
