Frankly, I think the question is useless and the original questioner entirely missed the point of enjoying life.

I grew up in California where the Zorro stories took place, so it was a little easier for me to identify with the character than with other heroes whose locations were always a bit ambiguous.
Or maybe it was just the sword. I like swords.

If someone you loved was put on life support. They may come out of it and be fine. They may come out of it and be a vegetable. They may never come out of it. It cost a lot of money to keep them on it and the insurance is not enough…What would you do?
I really don't think I could honestly answer without actually being in such a situation. Assuming I was faced with such a choice, I would like to think that I would make my decision based more on what I thought my loved one wanted rather than my own needs and desires.

Did the Jesus story come from pagan beliefs, such as Mithraism?
I think it's possible that a man named Jesus existed around 2,000 years ago, and that he may have been highly charismatic and able to influence people, but too many of the exploits attributed to him also appear in earlier myths. December 25 birth, born of a virgin, visited by 3 wise men, healed the sick, cast out demons, walked on water, died for the sins of others, resurrected 3 days...

Why can't we all just get along?
It's a pleasant fantasy, but most humans are too intolerant and inflexible to give up anything they feel they deserve. The fact that some of us are willing to go to war for little more than petty revenge and political brownie points suggests that we as a species have a lot of maturing to do.

What exactly is the supposed dire significance of December 21, 2012? Anyone know if this is only superstition, or if there is any science behind dire predictions?
That's the last day of the current cycle of the Mayan calender. Some people have taken that fact to an illogical extreme and interpreted it to mean that the world will end. Such an interpretation makes no more sense than assuming the world will end on Dec. 31 in the Gregorian calender of any given year. The date is just the end of a cycle. That's it. The world will not end and there...

An atheist lacks belief in deities. A theist believes in deities. That is the only thing we can be said to disagree upon. Apart from that, there is no reason why we can't agree on just about anything else, and, depending on the topic, it becomes a matter of personal, subjective opinion.

Not that I'm defending the Christians, but Genesis, depending on translation, does not necessarily state that Adam and Eve would die that day. In some translations, it is intimated that they would die eventually, not immediately. According to such a translation, their interpretation is correct, and they did, as the rest of us, die. Why is it that when a Christian holds to their beliefs they are called intolerant?(abortion, gay marriage and the like)..
It's for the same reasons that KKK members and Nazis are called intolerant for holding certain beliefs. The source of the beliefs won't matter. If your beliefs are bigoted, and you go out of your way to try to force others to bend to your will, you will be seen as intolerant.

Are you planning on participating in any of the Independence Day "Tea Parties?" These are intended to evoke an event from the very heart of American history and legend. What do you think of the intent of the people in the links below? American values?
White supremacists and anti-semites are beneath contempt. Their ideologies, to say the least, are despicable and vile. They know nothing of American values, and I'll have nothing to do with them or their twisted world view.

Assuming you were born in the US, your original birth certificate is on record with the county clerk of the county in which you were born. All other BC's are just certified copies. You can get another copy by ordering it on-line, or going directly to the clerk's office. It'll cost you about $20 dollars as a search fee.

Doesn't the existence of God, or some Divine intelligence only seem logical? After reflecting, how could the universe come out of "nothing"? Nothing comes from..nothing! Right?
This seems more reasonable that the alternative, being it was an accident!
No, it doesn't seem logical or rational. Nobody says the universe came from nothing. Rather, the energy of the universe has always existed. So, which seems more logical? The universe, in the form of simple energy, has always existed, or an omniscient, omnipotent, immortal being has always existed, and this being accounts for the universe. Take a look at Occam's Razor before you answer.

Atheists: What do you feel is the biggest misconception that non-atheists have about atheists? have you done anything to dispel that notion?
The biggest misconception I've seen is that atheists have no morals. It doesn't seem to matter to some theists that I am every bit as moral as they are, and even more so in some ways. I just don't need a bronze-age book of mythology to tell me that it is a bad idea to murder, steal, lie, be jealous, etc.
The only thing I can do to dispel this myth is to live as best I can.

The reason was to save lives on both sides. This was a cultural attitude common amongst all Japanese and not exclusive to their military.
Keep in mind the fact that the Japanese had never lost a war prior to WWII,...

Oddly, they were saying the same thing about Bush Sr. when he remained quiet in the early days of the collapse of the Soviet Union. The GOP just seems to enjoy attacking people, even if it's one of their own. No wonder they are being crushed under their own weight.

What do you think of the constant arguments between Christians and Atheists on AB?
They are the same arguments you'll find on any site populated by both theists and atheists, or any place IRL, for that matter. No matter where you go, there you are. I don't really think much about them. Until a theist can present me with empirical evidence for deities or, at the very least, a logical argument, I will remain an atheist.

A teen wrecks on slippery road. Why does everyone automatically assume that the wreck was caused because of a new teen driver? What if a 50 year old wrecks in the same situation? Would everyone be blaming the driver then?
Assuming all other conditions are equal, then it becomes a question of experience and maturity. The 50 year old is much more likely than the teen to be an experienced driver who is mature enough to drive responsibly.
I fully realize that this can be seen as a blanket statement which would not apply in all situations, but I still think it is a reasonable assumption.

We have chicken breasts to cook today, do you have a suggestion as to what recipe I might use?
If you have an egg, coat the breasts in flour, dip in egg, and bread coat with crushed corn flakes. If you have no eggs, skip the flour and cover the breasts in corn flakes only, but the breading won't hold together as well as it will with egg. Fry in oil until golden brown. Cut the potatoes into quarters length-wise and coat with oil, salt, and a little bit of dried parsley. Place on a...

They aren't the biggest problem, they are just a symptom of the problem.
The biggest problem is a lack of willingness amongst people to understand one another or respect the fact that not everyone shares the same beliefs and opinions. If we were all willing to live and let live, we would have no need of weapons of any kind.

According to the report I saw, the tattoo artist says he gave her exactly what she requested and can produce witnesses to the fact. Also, being tattooed myself, I find it impossible to believe that she fell asleep during the process. My house was built in 1942...It still has a fuse box rathert than a circuit breaker...My Insurance agent told me he could not insure the house/my belongings b/c it needed to be updated? If everything works properly why does it matter?
When an electrical overload hits a breaker, the breaker switches off to stop the overload. When an overload hits a fuse, the fuse burns out to stop the overload. Because of this, an old fuse box represents a much greater fire hazard. Don't risk losing everything, and I mean everything, by not updating your electrical system.

Do you live so close to an airport that the planes fly over your house?
Yes and no.
I live only a few minutes from an airport, but the prevailing winds and the orientation of the runways ensure that aircraft rarely fly over my home. The exception is that my home is on the preferred flight path of a local flying club in possession of vintage WWII warbirds, and I don't mind seeing Mustangs, Hellcats, and Skyraiders fly overhead. In fact, I'm very pleased...

Atheists and Christians, what is the hardest question you have ever had about God or His Word that has made you to doubt? Answers and not excuses appreciated!
I don't recall ever having any hard questions about deities. In the absence of evidence for their existence, I see no reason to believe in them. However, if anyone can show empirical evidence for an event which clearly violates the known laws of the universe, I will certainly be willing to re-evaluate my position.

Many people believe that we should respect other people's sincerely held beliefs. So, how about it creationists, should you respect the opinions of scientists or not?
There is a very large difference between opinions and beliefs. Opinions tend to be based on evidence and interpretation of established facts, while beliefs tend to be unsupported or even irrational. The opinions of scientists which take the form of theories have nothing to do with belief. Scientific theories are working explanations of established, factual, natural events.

Why is it easier for scientists to believe in evolution than creationism? Haven't scientists failed to provide groundbreaking evidence (the stuff that they worship) that supports the idea that new species can evolve from existing ones?
Regarding evolution, there is no belief required, only acceptance of observable, empirical evidence. The theory of evolution is one of the single most well-supported theories in existence, and the evidence of which you speak is widely available. Creationism, however, is nothing more than an unsupported assertion with no evidence whatsoever to back it up.

So if there is no god? or no creator, than how come every culture have their own form of god or gods?
Human nature demands that we have explanations for the world around us. The reasoning would seem to be that understanding allows for a measure of control. By the way, argumentum ad populum is a logical fallacy.

Since you posted this question under Christianity, I'll assume you are a christian. Can you tell me how your preparation via the Bible is any more valid than an Odinist who prepares for Valhalla by attempting to die in battle?

I find it funny that those that don't believe in god are only middle of the road when it comes to IQ. All the greats, Steven Hawkins, Einstein, even Darwin all admit that there has to be a god. Why are Atheist such small thinkers?
As I recall, they only acknowledged the possibility of deities, and never said definitively that there is a god. While I'm an atheist, I also admit that I may be wrong. This is something that theists never do. I've never encountered a theist that was willing to admit they might be wrong, and there is no god.
So, who're the small thinkers?

The United States of America is a bloated, corrupt, poor facsimile of the Nation any of our Founding Fathers intended it to be. Do you agree or disagree, why; and what should be done to resolve the problem?
Agreed. I don't anything can be done. Our nation is fundamentally flawed. Instead of a "Bill of Rights", our Constitution should have been written with a "Bill of Rights and Social Responsibilities." The concept of personal rights without personal responsibility has led to a sense of entitlement that may never be reversed. What strikes me as particularly strange is that...

I dislocated my shoulder last night when I slipped after a shower. I was taken to ER and in such pain. There was 1 Doctor on and was told he was very busy with other patients. Should I have had to wait 2-3 hrs to get meds?
Such is the nature of triage. Life-threatening injuries are handled first, and everyone else has to wait.
I tore a piece of my cornea out of my eye once, and had to wait over four hours before being seen. Also, until you have been examined, they aren't going to give you meds. If anyone with a complaint came in and demanded painkillers, every junkie in town would be crowding the ER.

Who bears the burden of proof? In a debate about the existence of God: Who should prove what? Is it Theists who are supposed to prove that God exist; or Atheists who must demonstrate that God do not and cannot exist?
The burden of proof always lies with the positive claim. If someone claims that a deity exists, that is a positive claim, and it is their responsibility to show evidence which supports the claim. Burden of proof never lies with those who dispute the positive claim since it is impossible to prove a negative. For example, It is as impossible for me to disprove the existence of a deity as it is...
