Answer to:
Truth is not universal or even local it is always only personal. Do you agree or disagree? Why?
Truth is a human concept and it arises from the use of primitive symbols to represent a universe at once more simple and more complex than we can imagine or express. That is to say that without human intellect truth is a nonsense, if something is not true, it does not exist. Then again, outside of human intellect, as far as we're concerned, nothing exists. So we bring things into existence by...

An Australian claims to be Jesus. What separates his fraud from your religious leader's ideas, if you have a religious leader?
Well I am my religious leader, the God of my own reality. I probably am a huge fraud, but I'm only claiming to be my own God, so at least I'm not dragging everyone else down with me. That's what separates my fraud from other religious leaders. What separates this guy from Jesus is about 2000 years and that's it.
Answer to:
True or False - money is the root cause of all problems of the world?
In the saying that is so often misquoted, it is actually the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil. This seems probable, unfortunately I don't think getting rid of money would solve the problem of greed. Maybe educating people that money doesn't necessarily lead to happiness, and that they are better off becoming a spiritually healthy person than a financially healthy one, might be a place...

If everyone took a course in Etiquette and followed all the rules we would have no wars. Peaceful deeds/words don't cause war, right?
I don't think wars start because of people being rude to one another. They start because people find it easier to deal with the problems in their lives if they have a scapegoat, or because people are simply immoral. Hitler was well spoken and polite.

Do the most dreaded task on your to-do list (bound to make you feel good afterwards),
Have an existential discussion with a sandwich, or any food, and then eat it,

Why does it seem, that most people need theory's and proof of something to believe it exits?
Personally my beliefs (not religious, but not entirely provable either) are about what it is beneficial to believe. I constructed them out of concepts I knew would not be disproved, their falseness would not be obvious to me on a daily basis, and decisions I made based on them would have beneficial results in the real world. In other words, my world view is analogous to the real world in the...

Besides the tangible and the intangible, is there any other in this creation?
Intangible simply means "not tangible". So anything that isn't tangible, is intangible by definition. There are things you can touch and feel, and things you can't. How could anything not fit into one of those categories?

Answer to:
11.Which is a factor of the LCD of X-5/X^2+8x+15 and x-2/X^2-4x-21?
There is no common factor in the top half of the terms, so we need to look at the bottoms to see if they factorise. x2+8x+15 will factorise to (x+5)(x+3) so the whole term simplifies to 1/(x+3). x2-4x-21 factorises to (x+3)(x-7). So (x+3) is a factor in the LCD, and the whole LCD will be (x+3)(x-7).
Hope this helps!
Answer to:
Express 23,600,000,000 in scientific notation.
Divide the number by 10 until it lies between 0 and 10 (ie with only 1 digit before the decimal point) then write that number multiplied by 10 to the power of however many divisions it took. For example, if we divide your number by ten ten times, we get 2.36. So the answer is 2.36 x 10^10. Hope this helps.

Answer to:
A question on "significant figures" in science: are zeros that are surrounded by nonzero numbers (ex: in 10000.5006) always significant?
Yes. Significant figures are counted from the first non zero digit, regardless of whether this appears before or after the decimal point. So your example is quoted to 9sf as would be 0.00100005006
Hope this helps!
Answer to:
IQ scores are distributed with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. find the x-score that corresponds to a z-score of 2.33.
With the z-distribution, the mean is 0 and the sd is 1. So first you need to kind of expand the data until it has the right scale and maps meaningfully onto yours by multiplying by 100. The mean is still 0 though, so we add 15 to fix that. Hope this helps.

What is the most flawed statistic someone has tried to use on you to "prove" a point? How did you figure out it was flawed?
The Tesco ads they've been running recently which discredit other "price comparison" stats, saying there's are more valid because they compare actual baskets of food people bought. But presumably the baskets were bought in Tesco, where those products are cheaper. If the same person went to do their shopping at Asda they would buy the products on offer there and possibly make a saving. It's a...

We're missing some information here but I'll make a few assumptions. Firstly we assume that the candidate has no clue about the exam material and makes a blind guess on every question. Also I assume you want the mean and standard deviation of the candidates result out of 90. So we have a binomial distribution with p=1/5 (as the candidate has a 1 in 5 chance of getting each question right) and...

Assuming again that this is equal to 0, then you need to add 4x^2 to both sides, divide by four and square root. I'm not doing this one for you.
Answer to:
Solving quadratic equations how do you solve
x^2+8x+c (find C)
This is not an equation as it has no equals sign. However, assuming that it is equal to 0 (do not assume this unless it says so in the question, if this is really how it was stated you have every right to call your tutor an idiot) then it is fairly simple.
x^2 + 8x + c = 0
Take x^2 + 8x from both sides
c = - x^2 - 8x
Or for a more elegant form, factorise using -x to give
c = -x(x+8)
Hope this...

Can someone explain the following to me? I have a test on this stuff tonight. I've memorized it but would like to understand it.
Basically OR(X,Y) means either X or Y is true. The only situation in which this isn't the case is if both X and Y are not true (which is the meaning of AND(NOTX, NOTY)) So as long as this isn't the case, OR(X,Y) will hold, making it equivalent to NOT(AND(NOTX, NOT Y)). Hope this helps.

You are not definitively attractive, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Basically, if they think you're ugly, then they're right. If they think you're attractive, then they're right!

In the UK you wouldn't have a problem asking anyone under the age of say 25-30 their age. I've always maintained that the plot writing in Harry Potter is uniformly brilliant. It may not be totally original, and it is sometimes predictable, but it is always interesting. The language is horrific, however. I would never read a Harry Potter book for the beauty of the writing, unlike Ursula Le Guin or Ian McEwan. Answer to:
"Don't throw out the baby with the bath water." What does this mean?
Well in medieval times, before modern plumbing, you would boil the water for your bath, then when you were done you would bail it out and throw it into the street. Often, when bathing a baby, a parent would absentmindedly scoop it up in the bucket and throw it into the gutter. So this expression is in fact one of the earliest examples of a dead baby joke.
But seriously I have no idea.

Not a Christian but answering anyway. Men can create everything but life, and God can only create life through women. Even his son was conceived by a woman who the "holy ghost" impregnated. Therefore the holy ghost at least is a man. The son is also obviously a man, and as we refer to the father as the father we can assume he is a man. As I say I am not a Christian and I don't...

The idea of being "suspended" in outer space, implies that if they were not they would fall. However, the idea of falling is dependent on gravity, which only has effect near a large body. Don't get me started man. Just don't get me started. The only salvation is that we're better people than the one's who get the girls. I know it doesn't help much. Try murdering whoever stole her from you, that always cheers me up.
Answer to:
What is the point of getting points? Is there an added benefit besides points or is this like Yahoo.Anwers.
It should give credibility to answers. So if you see an answer from someone with a lot of points you know it's likely to be accurate. And if someone gives you an answer that is useful you rate it highly so others know that the ABer is a trustworthy source. It doesn't work when people swap points and stuff but like you say there's no real reason why an ABer would want points.

Big Bang Theorists: How do you reconcile that things can't move faster than the speed of light with the notion that the Universe is ~13.7 billion years old but objects have already moved at least 46 billion light-years apart?
I'm no physicist, but I know enough to know that moving at the speed of light isn't quite the same as moving apart at the speed of light. ie, 2 people walking away from each other each moving at a speed of 1 mph will move apart at a speed of 2mph. I know this doesn't account for the whole thing, but I suspect that considering the 4th dimension redoubles the effect of this idea. I...

I hope so, I've never been told to my face that I was a bad kisser, but I've never thought it was normal to ask. Then again, I know plenty of people who are rumoured to be horrific kissers and yet have no idea of it themselves. I hope I'm not one of them... :D

Why are Catholic priests sexually attracted to little boys?
Personally I think it is wrong to deny anyone, including yourself, of sexual contact with whichever sex it is you prefer. Therefore priests who are not permitted to engage with the opposite sex and therefore turn to the only available sexual fair are following urges which (though never excusable) are understandable. Perhaps we should not be condemning the priests themselves so much as we should...

What are the best things to do to keep you partner happy (in the long run) in a relationship?
I think it's important not to base your relationship too much around sex. Make sure it's as much a friendship as a sex oriented partnership. Try not to let things become boring; be romantic but not overly and not all the time (half of romance is in surprise) and be supportive without being a pushover. Of course everyone is different and doing all these things with some people might...

If my boyfriend still talks to his ex, who talks about how she wants to get back together with him, is it cheating?
Empathise with him. If your ex was talking about getting back with you, and you respected him, wouldn't you want to let him down easy. Give your boyfriend a chance to do just that. I'm not saying necessarily that he isn't considering getting back with her, but it's the wrong conclusion to jump to.

Which has a greater area- a circle with a diameter of 10 inches or a square with sides of 10 inches?
The square will have area 100 square inches. The circle will have area pir^2 where r is 5. so 25 times pi which is about 3.14, so less that 100. The square has a larger area. If you think about this it is obvious. The circle would fit inside the square touching each of the four sides, but with plenty of space left over.

I've always considered suicide to be an option for me if my life was really that bad and I've certainly never had any disrespect for those who commit suicide (those who attempt are a different matter, or those who pretend they might). How do you factorise an expression like: 20y^8-16y^6+12y^5? Please help.
First look at the numbers and find the highest common factor of them all. This would be 4. Then we look at the variables, as they are all y we know that we can use y to the power of something. The smallest power is 5 so we can take this out. So outside the brackets we have 4y^5, then inside the brackets we put each term divided by what is outside the brackets:
4y^5(5y^3-4y+3)
Hope this...

Answer to:
How do you solve -x+2y=10 and 3x+y=-2 in a ordered pair using linear combinations?
I'm not sure what you mean by linear combinations but it's probably this. Label the two equations,
A: -x+2y=10
B: 3x+y=-2
Now we need to get rid of either the x or the y in one equation. The easiest way to do this is B+3A.
B+3A: 3x-3x+y+6y=-2+30
7y=28
y=4
Now substitute this into either equation to find x
-x+8=10
-x=2
x=-2

Usually you would put an arrow at the ends of x and y axis (or whatever your axis are) but not at the end of graph itself. Although I if it was a continuous graph (like y=3x^2+3x-2 or any other equation with an unlimited range) then you might. If you are drawing a graph from data you have been given and using all of this data then you should certainly not use an arrow on the graph itself and...

3x to the 2nd power + 12x+xy-4y? my answer (3x-y) (x+4) i need help thats what i could come up with,
Factorise 3x^2+12x+xy-4y right?
First factorise 3x^2+12x. We can take out 3x to give
3x(x+4).
Now we need to factorise xy-4y. Here we can take out y to give y(x-4).
So we have 3x(x+4)+y(x-4). Clearly we cannot factorise this any further. The question is either eroneous or a trick question. Ask your teacher.

0+1+2+3=6 so the remaining 2 digits must add up to 4 making them either 0 and 4, 1 and 3 or 2 and 2.
With 0 and 4 we are looking for the number of different orders for the digits 0, 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4.
0 cannot go at the beginning to so this is 4x5x4x3x2=480 however half of these will be duplicates with the two 0s swapped round so the actual figure is 240.

Graph f(x) = (2x-3)(x+2). State any extremes as a minimum or maximum and give the coordinates.
First find f'(x) using the product rule.
f'(x)=2(x+2)+2x-3
Then multiply out brackets and simplify.
f'(x)=2x+2+2x-3
=4x-1
(It is worth mentioning here that the product rule is not necessary, if you multiply out the brackets to begin with giving 2x^2+x-6 and then differentiate this to give 4x-1)
Extremes, or stationary points, occur where the gradient (f'(x)) is...

Flowers by Wendy Cope
Some men never think of it.
You did. You'd come along
And say you'd nearly brought me flowers
But something had gone wrong.
The shop was closed. Or you had doubts -
The sort that minds like ours
Dream up incessantly. You thought
I might not want your flowers.
It made me smile and hug you then.
Now I can only smile.
But, Look, the flowers you...

What is your experience with the 'newness' wearing off in a relationship? How have you worked through it?
I broke up with them. I'm not saying that's always the solution, but after the newness wore off I realised I wasn't even remotely attracted to them. Also they were an extremely depressing brand of person, which was all the more annoying because I used to be the same and it felt like I was taking a step backwards. What really sucked was I realised this just before exams started so...

Guys (that are still at school) -what do you do when you like a girl? For example, do you tease her, be nice to her, ignore her...?
I'm nice to her, but I probably jokingly tease her a bit. Sometimes I don't realise I like someone until I notice that I'm making those kinds of jokes. And I just have to add, Muse are not the best band in the world. They are a good band. They are your favourite band. That does not make them the best band.

How would you work t to the 2/3=4
t^(2/3) is the same as the cube route of t squared (either way round). Therefore to find the cube route of t you can square root 4 giving 2 and then cube it to give t, 8. Or you can cube 4 giving 64 and then square root that giving 8. Hope that helps.

Why did feminism have to kill femininity?
Good question, although a feminist would probably say something like "I fight for your right to be feminine or masculine" although in my opinion you can't have it both ways. How many stars are born and die each day? I no the answer but I was wondering how many other people know. Its interesting to see your answers.
I would assume that no one could know this. Possibly someone could tell you the proportion of stars that die every day and the proportion that are born. The universe is so large and expanding all the time that I can't see how anyone could know the answer to this question. Especially seeing as the universe is expanding at the speed of light, making observing the edge of it impossible.

Answer to:
Three numbers are in the ratio of 2:3:5. If the smallest number is multiplied by 8, the result is 32 more than the sum of the second and third numbers. What is the smallest of the three numbers?
Let's call the three numbers a, b and c respectively.
The numbers are in the ratio 2:3:5 therefore a/2=b/3=c/5.
Multiplying this by 30 gives us a more workable equation: 15a=10b=6c.
If the smallest number is multiplied by 8, the result is 32 more than the sum of the second and third numbers therefore 8a=b+c+32
Now multiply this equation by 6 to give 48a=6b+6c+192 then subtract...

If your Hi-Fi has a line-in (this may be called an MD or phono connector and looks like either 2 little round connectors on the back of your hifi, one white one red, or a regular 3.5mm headphone socket) then you can plug your shuffle in using a cable going from it's headphone port to the Hi-Fi's line in. I have a 10 yr old who wants to get guitar hero world tour, but I am concerned about the lyrics that the game contains. Is this a safe thing to do, and is there a way to control their access to the questionable tracks?
There won't be anything on there that's going to make want to go out and rape, murder and steal. I wouldn't worry. Eventually your child will be exposed to undesirable thoughts and ideas, and if he doesn't learn how to identify them now it could cause problems down the line.

Muslim brothers and sisters, On the Islam site we are subjected to invective and hate from infidels. On the christian site there is no hate from Muslims. Do you think infidels feel threatened or just "mouth off" for no reason?
Firstly, a Christian, by definition, is not an infidel. An infidel is defined as "one without belief". Secondly, I have noticed that Christians are prone to forcing their religion down others throats, but I'm fairly certian it is not Muslims in particular who are targeted.

What a third party mean? Can you give me example of the third party?
A third party is someone (or a company or group of people) who isn't the person who is talking or the person being addressed. So in a contract this refers to a party who is not afilliated with the two parties entering into the contract. Think of this in the same way as you would "third person". Well I'd obviously go for happiness, because the only reason why people want money is they think it'll make them happy. Either way they end up happy :D.

Two swimmers leave the starting line at the same time. The first finishes the very long race in 12 minutes and averages 10 kilometers per hour. The second swimmer touches the wall (finishes) 3 minutes after the first swimmer. Find the speed of the second.
10 km/h = 0.1666(reoccurring) km/m
So the race is 12x0.1666(reoccurring) km long which equals 2 km.
The second swimmer takes 15 minutes so his speed in km/m is 2/15 = 0.1333(reoccurring) and his speed in km/h is 60 times this = 8.

You can't simply transfer one program to another computer because it may depend on files other than the .exe and on registry entries. Even if you transfered all files and the registry entries it may still not work because the registry entries may be customised to your computer. You need to install using the original installation files.

How do I solve the equation: 7y=3y-56
Remember that if you do the same thing to both sides of the equation it will still be correct. I'll go through it as carefully as possible.
7y = 3y-56
-3y -3y
7y-3y = 3y-56-3y
Simplify both sides by collecting like terms
4y = -56
/4 /4
4y/4 = -56/4
Simplify again
y = -14

Limited knowledge of electronics so this is just an attempt at a rough explanation. I don't remember ever believing in him, but maybe I did. My parents never tried particularly hard to convince me, which I think is a better way of doing things. I mean the idea of Santa is fun, but I'd say it's important to see your parents as the most important authority figures in your life rather than a fat man in a red coca cola endorsed costume that's gonna give you...

5(x + 3) + 9 = 3(x - 2) + 6 for this one, i keep getting 18. is that right?
5(x + 3) + 9 = 3(x - 2) + 6
5x + 15 + 9 = 3x -6 +6
5x + 24 = 3x
2x + 24 = 0
2x = -24
x = -12
Hope this helps and you can see what you're doing wrong.

Talk to him, try to make him tell her. And if that doesn't work then there's really not much you can do except persist with trying to tell your mother (assuming you have conclusive evidence in your mind that he is cheating, ie, you have seen him with another woman etc). If you spy on him and try to gain evidence to show her you're invading both of their privacy. And although she...

I wonder, if someone was suicidal and someone else knew of this and either: (A) helped them end themselves. (B) did nothing. could they be convicted of anything?
Assisted suicide is certainly illegal in the UK, I don't know about elsewhere. Doing nothing, however, I am fairly certain is not illegal. Except perhaps where you are legally responsible for the person, but I'm not sure about that.
If doing nothing was illegal my life would be a living hell because my ex calls me about once a week pretending she's going to top herself and...

Yea and then with me they always say stuff like. "Argh you know I'm right about this so why are you being such a dick" even though every time I argue with them I'm right. And then I'll try to leave it and they're like "See you clearly know you're wrong so you're backing out" and then I'll go and look it up and prove I've right and...

I've always wondered about this. Theres really no way to difinitively say what's right and wrong. But then every single truth that we hold to be un arguable is dependant on basic assumptions with little or no logical evidence. From ethics to science to maths and even music this holds true.

Do you mean Cadbury All Stars? The miniatures?
Answer to:
When solving an inequality, when is it necessary to change the direction of the inequality symbol.
When multiplying by a negative number. Eg
-2x>y
2x<-y
To avoid doing this you can switch the sides by addition.
-2x>y
+2x
0>y+2x
-y
-y>2x
Which is the same answer. It will probably help to draw a number line in a lot of situations. Like if
-x>-2
it should become obvious after drawing a number line that x<2
Hope this helps.

Is it harder to play the guitar than the piano?
I'd say they're about the same. It might take a shorter time to make a good sound on a piano than a guitar, but once you get past the rudiments you can only really try to say what pieces are of equal difficulty on the two instruments which doesn't help. I'd go for piano because regardless of whether you're going for popular or classical you'll probably end up with...

Yes, which is why I believe that the universe itself is intelligent. And this fits in with the ideas of most religions, that God is in everything. I believe, further more, in a collective consiousness. For an abstract interpretation of this idea read Iain M. Banks's Feersum Endjinn.

I'd be pretty worried. The only thing more worrying than finding a pill and not knowing what it is is finding half a pill and not knowing what it is. So finding no pill at all should be pretty scary. Actually that's a lie, cos finding a pill and not knowing what it is isn't worrying at all. What's the deal, you clearly haven't taken it, it's right there!

I'd say the meaning of any artwork changes if you show it to a different person, in a different place, or at a different time. So many factors affect our interpretation of art that it would be virtually impossible for two viewings of the same piece of art to yield identical responses. And ultimately, I think the meaning of any art is in the interpretations of it's audience, not the...

If we hypothetically didn't need nature anymore, would it be really harmful to humans anyway to destroy it? By not needing it I mean creating resources from nothing.
We still need nature. I mean we can't really create Oxygen from nothing, certainly not on as large a scale as we need it. And we can't create nutritious food from nothing. I mean all energy comes from the sun and seeing as can't photosynthesize we need something to convert that energy for us. I think possibly yes. Not all normal men but certainly some. Young girls, by which I mean around 16 upwards, are often more arousing than older women. However, on a girls 16th birthday they don't suddenly look like a sexually mature adult, so it is obvious that some men will be attracted to girls that are legally underage. If you're looking to play jazz as a pianist the first thing you need to learn is good comping technique. What's the past tense of break dance? Broke danced? Break danced? (Go ahead, try and use it in a sentence...not an easy one to figure out.)

I'm pretty sure it's one word, but otherwise I think it would be break danced.
Answer to:
Is spending eternity in Hell underrated?
First, most of your friends will be there. Second, the food is probably pretty good - lots of barbecue and stir-fry! Third, you'll finally be able to stop worrying that you're going to Hell.
I've never been worried about going to hell so that's not really a problem for me. I have a horrible feeling all my friends will cop out at the last minute and repent and crap. Plus the food might be good but after an eternity it will get boring.

A friend and I were arguing about Chinese people the other night. She says they do have souls, I disagree. Who is correct?
Okay I'm gonna go ahead and give you the benefit of the doubt by assuming that half way through writing that question you had an involuntary spasm and by a freak coincidence typed the word Chinese followed by a space. And now I'll answer the question you meant to type. This entirely depends on what you call a soul. People have thoughts and feelings, and arguably there is something...

Does seem that way doesn't it? The killing my girlfriends fetus, and the getting my girlfriend addicted to drugs so she'll stay with me. Who knows, eh? I think someone created a code that made anyone who visited your page automatically subscribe to you. If they had this set up they could, but this was a long time ago and myspace has been completely remodelled since then. I'm not even sure if subscriptions still exist. If you are careful and you know what you are doing building your own PC USUALLY works out cheaper. This is because you only buy what you need, and obviously don't pay for gimmicks you won't use. However, try making a shopping list of components (I recommend ebuyer or microdirect for value) and then compare the price with a prebuilt computer of similar spec. You may well be able to buy...

Damn your right. I bet God never thought of that. If only he'd known that animals are completely useless. A vase is dropped from 10m joe is 40m from the window. how fast should he run so that he catches the vase just before it hits the ground?
Using the acceleration due to gravity as 9.8mps^2.
Lets call the position of the vase above the ground b, the position of joseph-ah-bah from the window c and josephs velocity, v.
b=10-1/2(9.8t^2)
When the vase reaches the ground 10-1/2(9.8t^2)=0
10=1/2(9.8t^2)
20=(9.8t^2)
2.0408=t^2
1.4285=t
c=0 when t=1.4285
c=40-vt
0=40-1.4285v
1.4285v=40

Is it wrong to create a "question" where everybody rates up just to climb the leaderboard?
I think so, people keep trying it though. The whole point of the leaderboard system is that a person with a higher rating is more trustworthy and higher rated questions have been rated highly by people with high ratings. Point mongering devalues this. Besides why do you even want more points if they are ill-begotten? I mean yes, when you are on a higher level you can give more points to others,...

Not necessarily. It's been suggested that all guys enjoy the sensation of having an object inserted into their anus but are often put off (even subconciously, so they don't realised they enjoy it) by the possibility that they could be gay. Many girls also enjoy the feeling, it seems silly to assume that it is only straight men who don't. Hope this helps.

What is your favorite experience of frightening someone? Tell us what you did.
When I was about 13 me and some friends were having a sleepover and we played "the coin game". Where you ask a coin yes or no questions in a ouija board vein. Went through "Is there a spirit present?" and "Are they in this room?" and countless other similar questions with negative responses. Eventually someone asked if the spirit was hiding in a nearby piano. Of...

What simple exercises can a preteen do without any exercising machines and without running. Need to tone glutes, LEGS, fingers, arms and tummy. Need to be fit enough to climb a mountain. 2 weeks left....HELP!!! - im 5'4 and weigh 47 kg's.
For climbing your biggest problem will be stamina, so go for long runs every day (not necessarily running fast, just for a long time without stopping). Otherwise do pushups, situps, and chinups. Although if you're not very fit then you won't do much in two weeks.

I,m 21 and goodlooking, girls always come on to me but i'm worried my 4.5inch dick is to small, should i tell them?
If a girl you're interested in asks, or it comes up in conversation around her then tell the truth. She's more likely to be uncomfortable if she thinks that you find your penis size inadequate than if you are straight with her. But there's no law requiring you to inform all potention sexual partners that you have a below average penis. Besides, your penis is not much below...

If the letters s, s, s, t, t, t, i, i, a, c are arranged in a random order, what is the probability that they will spell the word “statistics”?
There are 10! ways to arrange the letters. However because of the repeated "i"s, "t"s and "s"s, there are 3!x3!x2! ways of arranging them that will spell statistics. So the answer is (3!x3!x2!)/10!=(6x6x2)/3628800=0.00001984126841...
So a very small probability.

Girlfriend wants space, well to me this means its over, i was unsure so i said to her look if u want to finish lets finish, she simply said she needs to know how she feels about me. i know her well enuff that if she want to end it she would. doomed?
I think she means exactly what she says. I had a girl say this to me once, I wasn't in love with her although she was nice enough so I just let her alone for a while. After a week or two she was back on her knees. I think she just wants to see how she feels without you, whether she really needs you. Just see what happens and try not to pressure her.
Answer to:
Ann buys a plant whose height is 8cm. the plant is growing at a rate of 4/5cm per week. When will its height exceed 13 3/5cm?
Let the height of the plant be h, and the number of weeks from purchase be t. h=8+4/5t.
h=13 3/5=68/5
68/5 = 8+4/5t
-8(or 40/5) -8
28/5=4/5t
x5 x5
28=4t
/4 /4
7=t
So 7 weeks after purchase is when the plant will be exactly 13 3/5cm, but it will exceed this height at the beginning of the 8th week (I don't know whether you will be looking for this level of accuracy.)

The first thing is to test that your laptop's cd drive is working and that it is capable of booting from the cd. Download UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD) and burn it to a disc on another computer and try to boot from this. (There are other CDs you could try, Knoppix is a bootable version of Linux, for example.) If you cannot boot from this try swapping out the cd drive for one from another laptop....

If you were elected to student council in grade eight, what would you do to improuve the 8th grade experience?
I hate to break it to you, but in the 8th grade you have absolutely no power. The whole student council idea is just a sharade, you might get asked what colour you want your student planners to be but that's about it. If you manage to make any real changes I'd love to hear about it because that would be awesome. But really, I'm afraid it just isn't that likely.

I don't know but a friend of mine saw a roll of the stickers unattended and stole it. Although he got a lot of free food (as well as his friends as the promotion was close to ending) he found that one piece from each colour set was not on the roll, while there were many of each of the others. I doubt it, just like all education up until university (and perhaps sixth form), all you have been taught is how to pass exams and you have no real useful knowledge at all. I can only assume that when the SATs are abolished the curriculum will change.

Answer to:
Do you strum all the strings or just the first 4 and you strum on the way up right?
The strings you strum depend on the chord you are playing, if you read the chords in tab form then the strings you shouldn't play will be marked with an X. You can strum up or down or both, if strumming with your hand this will affect the sound more than when using a plectrum.

Select all equations of lines passing through (0,3).
y = 2x + 3
y = 4x + 9
y = 4x + 3
y = 3x + 4
y=2x+3
y=4x+3
As these are all linear equations of the form y=mx+c where m is the gradient and c is the y intersect, and as the point give is the y intersect of the line (the point where it crosses the y axis and x therefore equals zero) you only need find equations where the value of c is 3.

Multiply out the brackets to give:

Therefore the system is inconsistent, e.

Velocity is a vector in a particular direction, speed is simply the rate of movement. For example, if I am travelling north at a rate of 1 m/s, my speed is 1m/s. My velocity, however, is 1m/s north, or -1m/s south, or 0m/s east or (root2)m/s northeast etc.
The velocity always needs a direction. Often in mechanics work one direction will be set as positive and then a direction is not needed....

If your relationship is gonna end then marriage won't stop it. Just enjoy your relationship while it's in this intense stage. I assume this is your first real relationship?

...that you like money. I really don't think it means anything. I have dreams that I find or win money all the time. Sucks when you wake up, but I think most dreams can't be interpreted. I'm sure some can, but I think this one doesn't mean much.

Yea but it's hard to find the black and white film these days which is a shame. And when you develope they always pressure you to get it on a CD or printed on a t-shirt or a mug. But hey, if it's too much hassle I hear those old photographic memories with the manual focus fetch a bundle these days.

Do you think it's fair that a vendor at a festival doesn't post the prices of the menu items they are offering?
It's probably not illegal but I definitely don't think it's fair. Personally I never go up to a stall that doesn't advertise their prices, but on the occasion that I do I find myself in a pressurised situation where once I have asked the price I feel obligated to buy.

Answer to:
If P(X=1)=P and P(X=0)= 1-P, show that E(X)=P and Var (X)=p(1-p).
Assuming X is a discreet random variable.
X can only be 0 or 1 because P(X=1)+P(X=0)=P+(1-P)=1
E(X)=(sum of)x(P(X=x))=1p+0(1-p)=p
Var(X)=E(X^2)-(E(X))^2
E(X^2)=(sum of)x^2(P(X=x))=1^2p+0^2(1-P)=p
(E(X))^2=p^2
Var(X)=p-p^2=p(1-p)

O.J. Simpson's lawyer says that he did not get a fair trial (in his recent robbery trial) in part because there were no African Americans on the jury. If everyone is equal, what does it matter? Do you feel that the lawyer is right?
The lawyer is correct, especially seeing as there are people paid a hell of a lot of money in high power cases to choose the jury. And although all men are equal in worth, all men are not equal in anything else. Skin colour does undeniably affect the way we think of other people, and by this I mean both our skin colour and theirs.

My son is currently learning patterns and attributes in Grade 3. He was asked to draw a pattern with two changing attributes. He drew a blue upside down triangle, small red circle, right side up yellow hectagon, small red circle. Is this correct?
Seems right to me, you can't really say which is the right way up for a shape in my opinion this can't really be counted as an attribute. However, are you really saying your son drew a triangle and then a 100 sided shape? Or do you mean a Hexagon?

Why cant we just do away with money?
Because it would just come back. People will always trade, and out of this will evolve some sort of currency. It only makes sense that the most valuable thing for a society will eventually become it's currency. For us, it was gold, for the aztecs it was cocoa beans. I wish we could do away wtih money too but in reality it just wouldn't work.

Perhaps more people would be interested but personally I would happily give my organs to someone on death row. Partly because I am passionately against the death sentence and party because people can be waiting on death row for years. Either way my organs would, as far as I know, never end up there because I live in the UK, where the death sentence is not used.

The people you are with when you raise the subject decide whether or not it is taboo. Taboo simply means socially unacceptable, so it stands to reason that taboo subjects will vary depending on the society you are in, whether this means the...

This is not really possible as the vocals and backing in a normal sound file are not separated. However, by fiddling with the EQ of a track you may be able to emphasise one or the other, but you will lose the original quality of the sound. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help. By the way, this doesn't really belong in music theory. Music theory refers to chords, scales etc.

Why are parallel perfect 5th's forbidden in four part writing (Soprano,Alto,Tenor and Bass)? Also,what is the difference between French,German and Italian 6th chords?
Parallel perfect 5th's are forbidden because they sound bare and vulgar. If you play a phrase with and then without a parallel 5th the latter will sound more like the four part writing we are used to (although you may prefer the former for stylistic reasons). When Bach pioneered four part writing as we know it, he most likely didn't write and then use rules; he just wrote what sounded...

This is kind of confusing. I can't really tell what question you're asking, so I'll answer all the possibilities.
1. What would you put in room 101, in the sense of the tv show where things you hate go into room 101? Bono
2. What would you take with you into room 101 if you had to go there, considering that it was full of things people hated? My iPod and some bitchin'...

How do you avoid being intimidated by piano teachers?
Just remember that they work for you. Put in the work and if they still attack you apologise sincerely but make it clear that you're doing your best. Like any relationship if you establish a dynamic with them as a tyrant it'll stay that way, whereas if you negotiate a friendlier atmosphere your lessons should be more enjoyable, for both of you.

Answer to:
Why do atheists believe it is religion more than any other reason that has made Man do all the horrible things he has done when history does not support this?
That isn't one of the defining beliefs of an atheist, but I assume your just making a generalisation, which is fair enough. Many atheists, and indeed theists, do consider it to be true that many if not most of history's conflicts have been caused by or have involved religion. Of course, violence has been part of man's nature long before religion became a driving force in society,...

Are university courses biased, ie; does opinion of school affects what is taught, or to what extent.
Your university lecturers should encourage independant thought. In fact, in many courses this is a vital skill. While those teaching you may have strong opinions about certain things, they ought to be happy to debate them with you.
Answer to:
If you are calculating density in kg/m3 (metres cubed), do you write your answer as x kg/m3 or x kg/m3 -1 (minus 1) explain your answer?
You would usually write it as x kg/m^3 as this is how you calculate the figure. More often than not a unit of this kind will give you the formula for calculating the value. You could also write it as kgm^-3 although this is not as clear. The reason for this is that a negative power inverts the base. So that kg multiplied by m^-3 becomes kg divided by m^3.

I am an English teacher whose husband uses the term "hisself" instead of "himself." This drives me crazy (it sounds ugly) and embarrasses me in public. Am I nit picking, or should he be capable of making this small adjustment for me?
I'm just like you in that I can't tolerate bad grammar, and am constantly complaining about its use in television, shop signs etc. You should understand that you are being petty, but your husband should understand how much it annoys you and atleast make an effort to change. In short, you both need to be patient with eachother.

I teach music lessons to a few kids at a public highschool. If I feel like there are some inappropriate relationships between a few of the students and the band director, do I just leave it alone? I'm a poor college kid; I need this extra income.
This is a difficult situation. Talk to a couple of other people (maybe others teaching music lessons) and see if they've noticed it. If two or three people agree with you try going together to talk to someone further up, or writing a letter which you all sign. This reduces the possibility of any negative repurcussions.

I agree that everyone should use their vote. Unfortunately its not always that easy. These days it seems like no matter how much you know about the parties the vote is still a lucky dip. This is why I would encourage anyone who doesn't want to vote for one reason or another to spoil their ballot paper. The Pledge of Allegiance mentions God and it is generally understood that this is a Christian God. In their original senses, yes. Queer means strange ("How queer...") and gay means happy or pretty ("Juliet wore a gay smile"). A car has a mass of 1000 kg and travels from 0 to 80 km/h in 10 s. It
then keeps moving at 80 km/h.
If the two drive wheels of the car are 500 mm in diameter, what is
their rotational speed when the car is travelling at 80 km/h?
I may be being stupid, but it seems like the whole of the first sentence is irrelevant. If the diameter is 500mm (0.5m) this makes the circumference (pi x d) roughly 1.5708. 80km (80 000m) divided by this is 50929.58(2dp). So the rotation speed is 50929.58 rotations per hour or 848.826rpm(3dp). I hope this helps and I'm not missing something obvious.

To summarise for those who have not read the book, I place the spider in the centre of an elaborate contraption involving several tiny doors, each rigged to shut when the spider goes through it. Behind each door is a different trap to kill the spider in an interesting way. I then use the spiders decision the...

I am looking at buying vista for my home pc which currently runs windows. Please could you give me an explanation of what Vista System Builders Only softwar are what oem is and is this ok http://www.ebuyer.com/product/123060. Thanks.
OEM version has:
No user manual
No pretty retail box
No customer support
and you CANNOT transfer the copy of vista to another computer after it is installed. But the operating system is exactly the same, and if you have a problem with it you can always ask on here. :D So if it's considerably cheaper I'd probably go for it. But don't hold me accountable!

Good lord have I been here. I spent about 6 months putting all my energy into trying to convince a 17 year old girl her 28 year of boyfriend who worked at a local public school and therefore couldn't tell anyone about the relationship was no good for her. Of course, you have to consider the possibility that the relationship isn't so bad after all, but really you are right. I...

I've been worried I might not be pregnant for a while now. The first sign was when someone commented on how big my Adam's apple was. I went to my local GP and he ran some tests; he says there's a good chance I'm not pregnant. This is all coming as quite a shock to me as you can imagine.

Not sure I understand the question. You use Limewire to download music without paying for it, and you use iTunes to put it onto your ipod. You can use iTunes to buy music as well, all of these functions should sit perfectly well together. Unless there's something I'm missing?

When will thinking machines on par with man appear?
Interesting point. I think another problem is morals. Before making any kind of artificial intelligence we will undoubtedly have to think up some system of morals for it, much like Isaac Asimov's 3 laws. Could be that you're not ejecting it properly. I had this problem a while ago. Why is the level of contamination measured as number of colonies rather than size of colonies?
Presumably because highly contagious infections spread throughout any densly populated area in too short a time for this to be relevant. To use a small example, if a household with 8 people living in it all caught the flu, would you consider this a higher level of contamination than if 8 separate households each with one person living in them caught it?

3. A plane whose air speed is 175 miles per hour flew from Monmouth to Laurens in 1.5 hours with a tail wind. On the return trip against the same wind, the plane was still 105 miles from Monmoth after 1.5 hours. Find the wind speed and the distance betwee
Let the wind speed in mph be w and the distance between monmouth and Laurens in miles be d. From the first journey we know that
1.5(175+w)=d
because distance = speed x time
From the second journey
1.5(175-w)=d-105
or
1.5(175-w)+105=d
We can now equate the two expressions for d:
1.5(175+w)=1.5(175-w)+105
divide by 1.5
175+w=175-w+70
subtract 175
w=-w+70

I presume the dimensions you've given us the lengths of the sides of your land. Answer to:
It is required to connect N nodes such that each node is connected directly to all other nodes. How many links are required?
0.5n(n-1)
The first node has to be connected to n-1 nodes, the second is already connected to one so it only has to be connected to n-2 nodes, and so on. So the number of arcs required is the sum of integers from 1 to n-1.
Sum of integers from 1 to n is 0.5n(n+1) so sum of integers from 1 to n-1 is 0.5n(n-1).
Hope this helps.

Your home theatre probably has a phono input (the two connectors, one red, one white), so the easiest way is to get a cable that converts a 3.5mm jack to 2 phono plugs. Then plug the jack into the headphone socket of your laptop (your laptop might even have a socket especially for speakers).

Hard to tell, it depends whether the damage is done to the drive itself or the enclosure. There are a few possible things to try. If you cant get hold of another enclosure you could take the drive out and plug it directly...

Each of your 3 letter groups introduces 1 new letter except the first wich introduces three. Therefore to use all the letters in the sequence it would take as many groups (n) minus 2 because the first group uses two extra letters. With k letter groups, assuming the same grouping system, each group would still use 1 new letter except the first which would use k letters or (k-1) extra letters....

Does anyone have the music making/editing program Garage Band 2 on your computer? I know you can import tracks from iTunes onto it. My question is, can you remove the vocals from the track, to turn it into a karaoke-type of track?
The simple answer is no because vocals and instruments aren't separated like that on a normal audio file. But you can fiddle with the EQ to try and make the vocals quiter although you will lose quality. For example a while ago I remixed ring of fire by taking the bass down in the EQ so I could modulate the trumpet riff to a minor key.

Probably a codec issue, what does your laptop say when you try to play them? Or does it play them badly? How to mic a grand piano with pair of scx-25 mics for classical home recording?
If you mean in terms of placement, I'd use a stereo bar (or just look up the measurements of one) this positions the two mics at a distance that simulates our ears so you dont get an exaggerated or subdued stereo effect. Then experiment with placement of the mics together. I like to have the upper registers on the right as though I were playing the piano or the player was facing away from...

How do i get music off of iTunes and onto my computer in a folder, without the song titles being encoded as letters? ex: Norwegian Wood-The Beatles = WXCY
There are a couple of programs that will do this, the best is red chair software's copygear, but you'll have to... ermmm... pay for it. Apparently http://www.getsharepod.com/ is pretty good too and thats free. Use what works for you. Remember that if you copy itunes store protected content to a computer you'll have to authorise that machine before you can play it; you can only do...

How can i play my music on another computer that also has ITunes without erasing my music?
Eurgh, it's annoying but not impossible and there are a handful of ways to do it. My favorite by far is winamp. When you plug in your ipod itunes will probably come up and tell you your an idiot for plugging your ipod into another computer. Tell it not to sync and then if your going to be doing it again tell it not to open itunes when the ipod is connected (the setting is on the main ipod...

If you find a flaw in something or someone, do you notice but keep it to yourself, try to look past it quickly, or bring it up because you aren't afraid of pointing things out?
If I find a flaw in someone it tends to be because its something I've noticed in myself, either in the past or the present. Thats not to say I don't rub it in their face, but it is to say that I don't ALWAYS rub it in their face. Usually I keep it to myself; if it really rubs me up the wrong way I point it out.

Is there a symbol (like the smiley face symbol or a wink) to indicate that you are responding 'tongue in cheek?'
In text form? Not that I know of. It's a common problem and the only way round it is to make sarcasm really obvious. "Oh yea, cos I REALLY think thats a good solution to the problem. No really I do." But emoticon wise, you can always make your own. My sarcastic smiley is the last frame from the yawn smiley on msn, seems to work well.
Hope this helps.

What is a good keyboard amp for live performance, not just practice?
You'd probably be better of with a PA system, or some good quality active speakers. Look into the Alto Orient Express range, or speakers like Tapco Thumps.
Hope this helps.

My msn messanger is in German (my PC is German too, maybe that s why). how do I witch the msn to English?
Probably happened when msn was installed (or if it came installed with the computer). Go to the msn messenger website and download the english installer (or there might be a multi-language installer with a choice of languages when you install) and reinstall msn. Hope this helps.

ITouch on Radioshack.com said the Wi -Fi Internet access fees may apply. I though that any place with free wireless internet was free like starbucks & ect. Plus i have wireless internet @ home too. How can i use it without getting charged? Someone help?
If it's free it's free and if you've paid you've paid. This is just like when something says "batteries not included". They put the same thing on games consoles that can connect to the internet and a load of other things too. Bottom line is if you can connect a laptop to the internet by wi-fi somewhere your ipod touch will do it too. But please dont get one,...

Why are the keys of a PC keyboard disorderly?
Yup, so actually the keys are meant to be in the least convenient configuration possible. Sweet.
Answer to:
What do the F keys do at the top of a keyboard? (F1,F2,F3,F4)
Various things depending on what program your using. Word uses them as shortcuts for operations like saving and loading, but they're applications vary. Don't touch them unless you know what they do is about right. But when using an application the help file will probably have a list of shortcuts that includes the function buttons (that's what they're called). To be honest I...

Is overclocking my processor safe?
Short answer is no, long answer is if done carefully. Some processors are better for overclocking than others. The issue here is cooling, make sure your processor has a good quality heatsink and fan or even water cooling if you want to go that far. Also it is best to have some device that monitors the processors temperature; some motherboards do this automatically, but if yours doesn't...

This is not a problem unless you want to record video to your computer from a camcorder etc. And even then most camcorders these days use USB or Firewire (correct me if I'm wrong). But if you need to have a clear bill of health on your device manager (and I know how you feel) the driver is here...
