Can a laptop be used on a cruise?
Laptops can be use on cruises, however, it's likely not free. many cruise lines have their own on board service and it usually costs something, so even using wifi, you still will have to pay to access the internet. of course when you are in port, you might find wifi available

Has anyone stayed at the Miami International Airport Hotel, if so was it okay .
I have stayed at the MIA, which is situation at the Miami Airport. It has been a number of years ago, but it was fine then. The only issue we had was that my credit card was used for an escort service fee, which I hadn't ordered, and the only place I had given my credit card info to was the hotel (The charge was taken off my card).. There are other hotels in the area that have shuttles, but...

can you travel outside US and get back when your green card has your married name but your passport (russian) is still in your madein name?
I think the only way to do this is to make sure you travel with your valid marriage license. However, if it were me, I'd be checking with the US Government Authorities rather than asking this question on here.

Do cruise ship packages come with food included?
Most cruise line prices include meals on board. However, many cruise lines are adding specialty restaurants as well as alternative restaurants that carry a service fee. Some industry professionals will tell you it is an additional fee for the food served, when in fact it is for the additional service used to serve you in those restaurants.

Answer to:
how do you find a red eye flight?
Red eye flights are usually flown from West to East and flight hours are late night. They live later in the evening from their departure city and arrive early in the morning to the destination. Usually these flights are longer haul flights, more than 5 plus hours in flying time. example would be Los Angles to New York, or San Fransisco to New York departing at 11pm or later in the night.

What does 925 on jewelery mean
Sterling silver jewelry is also known as 925 silver and is 92.5 percent pure silver. The remaining 7.5 percent of alloy, usually copper, is added to strengthen the silver.
If the silver content was higher than 92.5%, the silver itself would be too soft and it would soften, bend and show scratches and mars. This mix of silver and alloy keeps the silver bright and shiny, yet tough and long-lasting.

Are ncl optional restaurants worth it?
From personal experience, I would say that in some cases yes, in others no. We sailed on NCL last summer for 12 nights. We ate in the main grand dining room only about twice. We ate in the secondary main dining room a few more times and choose to eat in the free optional restaurants several times. We had dinner in the steak restaurant once and in the japanese steak house one, the chinese...

What is a repositioning cruise?
Ships move around during the course of ever year. Usually in Sept/Oct/Nov and again in March/April/May many ships (cruise line) change their itineraries. for example, the ships that are currently cruising the Caribbean for the Winter (northern hemisphere) months will move to Alaska or Europe to do Summer month cruising. So those ships will leave their home ports and move, or reposition, to...
Answer to:
Which is best in your opinion...a mediterranean cruise or a caribbean cruise?
it's all in the eye of the beholder. each one has their own pro's and con's and it also depends if you have been there or not.
Caribbean is going to likely cost you less if you live in North America. but Med would be less if you live in England or Europe.. just because it will cost you less to get to the embarkation port.
The Caribbean has some beautiful islands to visit,...

Needs some advice from experienced Carnival Cruisers. My husband and I are taking 11 year old son & 14 year old niece on a cruise. Should I get 2 adjoining rooms or can we comfortably fit in 1 room? The kids will not share a bed (too old).
much depends on how much money you want to spend. A stand inside or outside, even outside with balcony room, usually has 2 lower berths (beds) and 2 upper berths. The two uppers are pullman berths which pull down from the wall when ready to use, and can be put back againest the wall when not. These rooms are not like hotel rooms with 2 double beds.
2 adjoining cabins is great because you...

What are the best months to travel on a cruise from NY to Aruba, Bermuda or the Caribbean? and what are the best cruise lines and lengths of days to go to these places? (I like weather that is not too cold, not too hot, like spring time) Thanks!!!
the majority of Caribbean cruises take place between October and April. Bermuda cruises generally run during the summer months - May to October.
There are very few, if any ships, that do from NY all the way to Aruba, unless it's a long itinerary, say 10 or 12 nights or more.
with regards to cruise lines.. all the major cruise lines do these itineraries. Princess, Carnival, Royal...
Answer to:
Can you take a cruise ship to a local, then get off and stay a few days there, then reboard a different ship to return home? Would you have to pay for both entire trips?
in most cases yes. on the first sailing, the cruise line would likely not be able to resell the leftover portion of what you didn't use and on the 2nd sailing, the cruiseline wouldn't be able to hold a cabin just for you to board in another port, if you didn't pay for the cabin from the original port of embarkation. So yes.. you would have to pay for both sailings in full.

Hi, this is my first question. I have been reading up about how MSC Melody repelled Somali pirates and was wondering how many security personnel might be present on a cruise of about this size? Cheers.
There would be a magic number, guest per security officer ratio that is used, and not necessarily on the size of the ship. Having said that, cruise lines, like other companies, likely wouldn't say "we have 40 security personnel working this size of vessel"..

Can anyone tell me how I can get a Carnival Cruise Line corporation flag? The flag is red with a white "O" and inside it's blue. Thanks cruise fan
I would imagine the only way to get one, is to ask at the corporate office.. in all likelihood, they may not want you to have one, so they wouldn't give it, or.. they would have tons on sale there.

I lived in the middle of the state for 30 plus years. I've visted the Mountains and the coast. Loved Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills, although it was in the early 1980's and I understand it has changed a lot. Brevard and Blowing Rock in the Mountains are lovely places to visit as well.
Lots to see and do in North Carolina. Enjoy.

2 weeks is a long time and you should see alot. In Scotland go to Edinburgh. Then head to St. Andrews (if you like golf). Is it better to book excursions through the ship or through individual companies?
if you book the excursion through the ship and there is an issue with the excursion, like it's late, problems etc, the ship knows you are on their excursion and will assist.

if you are arriving in at JFK at 1pm and departing out of JFK at 7pm, I personally wouldn't leave the airport.. but it does depend on if you are traveling domestic or internatinally. you have to think of how much time things at the airport take.. and then the traffic to and from.. etc etc..

Are airline pilots allowed as many 10% tickets for their children as they like, and if so, at what stage in their career does this start?
as said, most airlines have a benefits package for all fulltime, company paid employees, which would include some type of discount travel for themselves and possibly their family members. This could be parent's, spouses, siblings and children. Most, I'm assuming, are stand by or Non-revenue, which would mean that you only fly if there is a seat on the airplane. These days, some...

I believe once you have been granted a emigrant Visa (greencard), there is a specific amount of time in which you must enter the US.. It may be based on the type of Visa obtained. What cruise lines will let me take my dog?
something to consider in all of this. Each country has their own Animal entrance policy. Many countries do not allow dogs to come direct from the US due to rabies. So it really wouldn't work for someone to take their dog on a cruise that was leaving San Juan and going to Barbados because the dog...

yes Carnival allows for 5 passengers in several categories of cabins, but you would likely end up with a roll-a-way bed in your cabin. Royal Caribbean has family cabins, several others have larger family type cabins, but even some with large suites don't allow more than 2 or 3...

Are you in favor of more all-inclusive (one price paid) cruises that incorporate all fees, gratuities, drinks, etc. that are now added onto the base price?
no probably not.. it would drive the cost of cruising up even more. You couldn't charge the lower rates if you had to include everything.
You pretty much pay all inclusive now, except for drinks.. even though it's quoted as base price and fees, gratutities additional (but you still pay them)

Also, much depends on what you are taking on the flight with you. make sure you bring what you need but don't over weight yourself or it will be tough to get on...

On Ace of Cakes and other cooking shows they use a rolled out covering/frosting for many cakes. They call it faun (Sp?). What is it? How is it made? what does it taste like?
Fondant is a paste often used to embellish cakes. In its basic form, fondant is made of sugar and water. This paste is rolled and flattened then placed on top of a cake previously frosted in order for the fondant to “glue” itself to it. In other words, fondant is a thick chewy form of frosting.
Fondant cakes are most often used to embellish wedding cakes. However, it can be...

1. Cruise ship name
2. Itinerary
3. Size of ship

That is a loaded question. The answer will be based on what part of the US (or the world) the person answering is from.
I BBQ outside on a grill usually steak or chicken or pork chops. But real BBQ especially if you are from North Carolina is pulled pork with a vinager based sauce (that also depends on which part of NC you are from).

What is the best way to cook fish, so that it doesn't taste like...well...fish?
prior to cooking, put the fish in a shallow dish (depending on how much you are cooking) and squeeze a lime on it and sprinkle a little salt. you can add a little water if you want. (it's like a brine mix and will take out the strong, fishy, taste) leave on for a few minute (so as not to "cook" it in the lime) and rinse it in fresh running water. pat dry and then cook however...

I'm sure that with the strict health and safety rules that Cruise Ships have to operate under, there isn't much room for that mold and mildew to grow.. and I'm sure if you asked an AirCon Guy, he might say it doesn't grow at such a rate that it would cause a problem.. I'm just guessing.

What would i be doing if i went to an airport for work experience?
I guess it depends on where you are from.
In the US, you would likely be doing janitorial work, or working for the Airport administration or working for the TSA, or a food service company.. You have be employed by an airline, usually, to them work for them. So you would have to be hired by that airline to work in a specific location.

I would highly recommend that you tell the boss as soon as possible. You are more likey going to lose the cost of the cruise if you wait to tell the boss because the boss is going to say no.. but if you tell the boss it was booked before the job started, and then explained that by cancelling it, you lose all your money (which may or may not happen) your friend stands a better change of going.

Restaurants - what exactly is meant by a "second sitting"?
Restaurants may operate in a 2 or three sitting way instead of a constant flow of traffic. Maybe it's a holiday and they have 1 seating at 7:00pm and another at 9:00pm. Many cruise lines operate with 2 sittings of dinner as well. 1st seating is usually early and 2nd seating is usually late..
it just means everyone comes at or about the same time and has dinner at one time.

depending on how she fell and what she landed on when she fell (meaning body part), I wouldn't worry too much. Babies can "bounce back" from things much better than grownups. If you are very concerned, I's suggest taking her to the doc for a routine checkup just to check that all is ok. I'd be a heck of a lot more concerned if she were still crying or not happy...

What cruise lines will let me take my dog?
I don't believe any will these days. Used to the QE2 had kennels used for longer voyages. The don't have them any more. I'm not even sure a blind person with a seeing eye dog would be allowed (well not the seeing eye dog at least).

Which sitting for the evening meal is the better one, first or second?
That depends on what you are looking for.
The first seating allows you to take advantange of things earlier in the evening.. the show, strolling on deck, and the midnight buffet. The late seating allows you to stay in port longer on an excursion.
Also know what type of ship you are on. Europeans tend to eat late, so if you are headed to the Med for a summer cruise, you may want to...

Would you rather send your children to a public or a private school and Why?
basically your asking for opinions.. soo thats what you will get.
While I currently send my children to a private school, I went to a public school and would choose that option if I felt the education they would be getting in the public schools where I live would be better. And it's not just the book learning education. it's the social aspects of the shools as well.
As they get older,...

What should i do for back pain?
alot depends on the type of pain you are having.

I push and arch my back as far as I can or try to stay in that position for several...

Can an American licensed real estate broker sell property located in a British Colony?
I think it depends on which british colony you are asking about. some countries don't require any kind of licenses for their realestate agents (believe it or not).. so having any kind of license would be better than none.. giving the person a leg up on whats already in place.
having said that, it would be best to check out the laws of that particular country and see what a broker is...

I have a British national insurance number and a US social security number. Does this mean I still have dual nationality?
If you are British living in the US and working under a work visa, you likely have a Social Security Number for work related purposes, but this does not mean you have citizen. I would assume if you are an American Living in England you likely have a British National Insurance Number for work related purposes as well, and again, that wouldn't mean you have citizenship.
Answer to:
I was born in France, my mother is French and my father is a US citizen. Does this make me a US citizen?
You, or your parents, father specifically would have to apply for citizenship for you. You would be given something called a Certificate of Live Birth Abroad, which is sort of like a birth Certificate, but can only be used officially to obtain a US Passport.
There is also an age limit, or used to be, at which you would have to decide whether you keep your US Citizenship and give up your...

Answer to:
Why don't buffet restaurants let you take home a doggie bag?
They don't let you because of the extra money it would cost them to produce the extra food. However, what they should be able to do is let you take home what is left on your plate because it's only going into the garbage.. the waiter/waitress should take the plate to the kitchen and make up the doggie bag for you instead of you being tempted to go for another round at the buffet..

Have travel agents been hurt financially by the advent of internet travel sites?
While I don't have the actual facts on this, I would have to say some yes some no. Little mom and pop travel agents probably have, but I'm sure larger ones have not. I think they have been more hurt by airlines capping the commissions than anything else. While Travel Agents generally never charged for services, they have had too in recent years because the Airlines stopped giving...

Customs laws are always an issue when sending anything overseas, but I would have to say a food basket would be a no-no to send anytime. If you are only looking at the cost of the cruise, I would have to say that Caribbean Cruises are less expensive them Mediterranean cruises. But you also have to look at the length of the cruise, cruise line etc. some are going to be more some less. and I think the port charges in the Med are more making those cruises more expensive, so you still have to break it down even further.
