Did you try anyone else's copy of the game? if they have the game try their game on your ps 2 and if it doesn't work try getting it fixed.

Don't drive very fast and slow down when turning. I'd recommend getting snow tires for the winter because they have much better traction and control. Try to avoid going out in bad weather conditions unless you really have to.
