Answer to:
The 3 Wise Men brought frankincense, gold and myrrh to the stable. What would 3 Wise Women have brought?
They might have brought a horse, mule or camel.
When they went to the house where Jesus was they might have brought gifts, also.
The Bible does say that Jesus was born in the manger, because there was no place found for the family when they arrived in Bethlehem, but the "wise men", actually called "magoi", or magicians/sorcerers/astrologers, arrived some time later,...

Will you teach me about your religion?
I'm glad to hear that you are interested in finding out about religions, and more importantly that you are not just jumping into the first one presented, but want to evaluate each on its merits.

It is important to find out which ones are true, and which are false, since if you believe...

I think there is an easy way to bring back the quality of answers and questions.

Otherwise people are rewarded for submitting questions and answers that are just ridiculous, regardless of whether someone rates it as useful or...

I think that since children under the age of consent are actually under the guardianship of the parents/legal guardian, that they do not have any rights to privacy, freedom of choice in matters of sexual conduct, movement, work, voting, tobacco and alcohol use and various other things.
Parents have the right to perform searches of a childs personal living areas and posessions, confiscate any...

Do those that harvest the trees plant them as well?
Here in Canada the people harvesting the wood are responsible for replanting areas which are logged.
The replanting is paid for by the loggging companies, but the actual planting is contracted out to third parties, and supervised by government agencies and third party professional foresters and silviculturists.
Before logging they must also do archeological surveys of proposed cut blocks,...

It appears there are some with higher resolution, for still images.
If you consider also that the eye is a video camera, and not just a still image there are none that have the same capabilities.

I spent 11 years in the Armed Forces, and my conclusion is that they want you to be mindless and totally dependant on their chain of command.
Independant thought is discouraged, questions of morality are overlooked and you can actually go to jail, or in war time you can be executed on the spot, for refusing to do something which is immoral. (such as killing someone)

I own a 1966 Chevy truck with the stock 250 inline 6 and 1 bbl carb. It has a low, rough idle, black smoke comes out of the tailpipe, it backfires when I coast and the engine stalls whenever I come to a stop
Black smoke is definitely not a good sign.
It is likely the engine has to be overhauled, honing the cylinder walls, replacing pistons and rings, gaskets and seals.
Also the crank shaft and bearing should be checked, as well as an inspection of the block for cracks.
The black smoke is indicative of oil leaking into the firing chamber, either through a cracked block, blown rings or a...

I am not familiar with the laws specific to the state of Texas, or any other, but it seems reasonable to me that if the day care provider was aware of the criminal history of the worker, and did not take adequate precautions to insure the safety of children in his or her care, then they are in fact responsible for wilfully placing your children in a dangerous situation.

Why do skulls show up so often in tatoos?
For many people a tatoo is symbolic of rebellion and rejection of the worlds standards.
The skull is also a typical symbol of rebellion, or a desire to destroy or be destroyed due to disdain for the world, associated with paganism, cults, witchcraft and sorcery.
It is also a very primitive and universal symbol, and for some the tattoos are also an expression of primitive ritual, hunters and...

Yes it is probably the starter, or rather, a part of the starter.
The gear on the end of the starter is pushed out by a solenoid when you turn the ignition.
This gear intermeshes with gear teeth on the fly wheel.
The gears on the end of the starter are probably damaged so they don't intermesh tightly, and slip and grind when they try to engage the flywheel.
It is also possible for the...

How does the reversing falls in New Brunswick go back up the river?
The reversing falls are caused by tidal action.
At low water the river flows through a narrows, with a mean height 14 feet above the water level in the bay, forming a rapids or falls.
At high water the level in the bay is actually 14 feet above the river, and causes water to rush up the river more than 80 miles, forming rapids or falls at the narrows, going up the river.

If the Bible says we should not kill, why are many Christians in the military and in a situation where they may have to kill others?
Here is an example of one who struggled with this very question. After serving 11 years as a volunteer search and rescue technician and geurilla warfare technician, recieving a special service award for his decade of volunteer service, one man quit the armed forces due to his conscience and reasoning from the bible, deciding that the bibles command to not kill included also our enemies, and...

If the Bible says we should not kill, why are many Christians in the military and in a situation where they may have to kill others?
The reasons people join the armies of the world are as varied as the people inhabiting the world, but some of the general reasons might be as simple as those that follow:
1) Blood lust, though it is probably a small percentage of all those in the military, there are certainly some who join for the reason that they have a desire to kill, and this is a legal way to do it, from the perspective...

Which parts of the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, used by the Jehovah's Witnesses, are thought to be inaccurate?
The most common complaint is the translation of John 1:1, where many Bibles say "the Word was God", the NWT says "the Word was a god".
Just one letter or diacritic can significantly alter the meaning of this phrase, as one way indicates that the Word is the Almighty God, the other indicates he is godlike, but not the only true God or an inseperable part of that being....

Is glass a solid or liquid?
I have seen several mentions of glass being some sort of liquid, as in the previous question an answer and comment state that it is a super viscous fluid. But doesn't this defy common sense? It is brittle, it is not flexible to any great extent, if it is bent beyond even a few degrees it shatters, if force is removed it returns to its original shape, in all aspects it behaves as a solid,...

What is the correct translation of John 1:1?
It should be understood that the Greek language has no indefinite article, it only has the definite article, so to insinuate an indefinite the article is simply absent, so any translation into English where there is no definite article must contain the indefinite article with the associated noun.
This site does not allow for the display of the original language , so to view it and a complete...

What are good ways for a beginner to learn about boats?
A general practice is to have informal apprenticeships. A deck-hand is hired and given medial tasks to perform, scrubbing, cleaning, painting, etc..., progressively increasing in responsibilities as they increase in knowledge and skill. After learning the basics of seamanship they may take supervised watches at the helm, and as their navigation skills increase and rules of the road are...

If the Bible says we should not kill, why are many Christians in the military and in a situation where they may have to kill others?
Christians join the army because they think that they are serving God, that the people they fight are evil and wicked, and it is Gods will that they are to be destroyed. They believe that they worship God in an acceptable way. But, does the Bible agree? Are these christians in the army really serving God, or are they members of a "pseudochristian" denomination, which does not...

What is the Holy Trinity?
Answer submitted with permission from the original author, with modifications:
The 'Holy Trinity' is a doctrine taught by most of the orthodox Christian church. It was developed some time around the fourth century. It basically says that God is one God, but is made up of three separate parts, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost (or Spirit). An example of how this works could be...

If the Bible says we should not kill, why are many Christians in the military and in a situation where they may have to kill others?
Christians all over the world fight in wars because they are convinced that they are fighting on the side of righteousness, defending innocent people from oppressive governments, and suppressing evil empires. Though their motives are often good and they think they are serving God by killing their enemies, what about the situation where there are Christians on both sides of a conflict? How can...

Why is a boat's steering wheel typically on the right?
The location of steering controls is largely a matter of preference and specific design of a vessel. For example, on my 42' patrol ship the controls are on the left or port, possibly so the instruments and navigation equipment are more easily accessible on the right hand side of the operator, for more comfortable operation of controls on the radar, radios sounder and GPS recievers. Other...
