I'm pretty sure there was a conspiracy of sorts behind gangsta rap becoming popular in the 90s. Thug culture was promoted to get criminals to be unafraid and even proud of prison. That way they didn't try very hard, if at all, to avoid getting caught... thus making it FAR easier arrest criminals.

From what I heard it wasn't as much of a problem with older wars because it took the troops a long time to get home. Time enough to decompress and gradually readjust. Now that transportation has become so fast, a soldier can be on the battlefield and then back in his home town all in the same day.

A rapper isn't really something to become, anybody can do it. There's plenty of rappers out there who talk about real things and aren't playing dress-up.

From what I've heard about American school buses, it probably has a similar reason. They figured out the probability of a passenger being killed, and as a result the bus driver/owner/manufacturer being sued, is far lower than what it would cost to install and maintain seatbelts.

No, I toss and turn too much, and put my arm under the pillow. I think it would just get in the way or knocked off. Then I'd feel less secure having to scramble to find where it fell in the dark.

It's a toss up. Sometimes I fit right in because there are enough like-minded people or people who are welcoming/easy-going. Other times I find out too late that nobody shares my interests or are set in their exclusive circles of friends.
