Answer to:
What does atheism rely on in order to survive and expand?
Given that a majority of atheists became that way due to bad experiences with religion or religious people, atheism thrives in response to things being TOO evangelical, judgmental, hypocritical, close-minded, etc. (which ironically enough are things that honest grounded religious people aren't supposed to be).

Americans: I`m 42, male, and I have never even held a real gun. Thoughts?
It can happen, and it isn't like holding a gun is a rite of passage (given the likelihood in a lifetime of actually NEEDING to use a gun for sustenance hunting or self defense). Of course on the other hand knowledge is power, so it's better to know how to use one than to not.

Are the main functions of beauty pageants to streamline the trophy wife selection process?
Men in search of a trophy wife don't watch beauty pageants. The thing is that it conditions the women in search of a sugar daddy how to best focus their looks, what it takes for them to keep looking as good as possible to avoid/delay gettting traded in for a newer model.

The problem isn't with the religion, most often the problem is with the people doing the raising/teaching. Indoctrination goes wrong when it is done by a person who is a poor example of the faith and/or has the wrong idea of what the faith is supposed to be

It's because there are people who are still racist in this day and age. Of course for some it really isn't a race thing so much as a culture thing, that is, preople from very different cultures may not end up being right for eachother having so many differences to overcome and comprimises to make.

I still might say no because I'm thinking of physical downsides. The thing is I'm a cheapskate, and that's one of the bigger reasons why I don't smoke and don't very often. So I might say yes if they were free/cheap and I could still remain in control.

Do you think TV is important to you ? How much time do you usually spend watching tv each day? Are you selective, or just flip channels?
I'm sort of a weird middle ground. I watch more TV than I should, but not as much as the average viewer. At least half of the stuff I watch is prerecorded, but I'll flip channels to find something different. Even though I watch a lot of TV, what proves that it isn't important to me is that whenever I'm out of town I rarely watch TV, and usually only because the people I am visiting are watching...

Does the system need repairing or breaking up and starting again?
Breaking up. Like the banking system where a majority is controlled by only a handful of companies (who needed to be bailed out) that are so large that things they do can ruin the economy. Or how every election cycle everyone thinks voting in a member of the other party in our two-party system is going to create change, when really it's just the other wing of the same bird.

They block it because life is only precious and sacred while it is in the womb... the second it is born it needs to pick itself up by its bootstraps.
They block it because they are usually old white men who haven't actually slept with their wives in years... at best maybe they've slept with their intern and/or secret gay lover.

It will probably end up being like how the fire department used to be a paid service. They would let your house burn if you weren't a paying customer (prepaid or paid on the spot). Also, we say that money buys justice today... imagine how much more it would buy if the police were a business.

The auto manufacturers would just as soon keep making the same type of car they've been making for a century, they don't want to push/advertise new technologies. I'm pretty sure there was a conspiracy of sorts behind gangsta rap becoming popular in the 90s. Thug culture was promoted to get criminals to be unafraid and even proud of prison. That way they didn't try very hard, if at all, to avoid getting caught... thus making it FAR easier arrest criminals.

It can simply get on other peoples' nerves when the attention-seeker has nothing constructive to add to the conversation or gathering, and is interrupting the flow so they can be the center of it all. It also shows a lack of interest in what other people are doing, yet expecting others to be interested in what the attention-seeker is doing.

I suppose so, I don't think fulfillment is a state that once achieved can be sustained forever. It's like eating a really fulfilling meal, at a certain point you have to put the fork down because you've had enough.

Are humans naturally evil or good?
I would think naturally evil, hink of how some nasty people are "acting like children". If we were naturally good, wouldn't acting like an innocent non world jaded child child be a good thing. It's our interractions with eachother that make us strive to be good, because we'd rather have help, safety, and/or security in a group (society). But if we all had to fend for ourselves, I doubt we'd...

Answer to:
Who in your opinion is stronger mentally, men or women?
It's hard to say with any kind of scientific accuracy because men and women are raised differently. If both genders were raised equally and with the same expectations and priviledges (like getting away with certain things just because they are a boy or a girl) or lack there of then in might be equal. Men may be stronger because women tend to rely upon them more than men rely on women.

With the rise of reality TV and other outlets for people to become famous even though they have no skills/talents/accomplishments worthy of fame, I can only imagine how much exponentially worse attention-seeking will be in the future from those that are growing up with this as the norm.

Anyone else think Madonna was lip singing during the half time show (especially Vogue)?
That's just the nature of most pop performances. Too much choreography to worry about, that and the average viewer isn't really into music and wouldn't have any appreciation for raw live vocals.

Was Madonna's Super Bowl appearance her trying hard to seem relevant again?
No, that title still belongs to Janet Jackson.
If anything the performance seemed a little subdued (I'm just talking about hers, not the performers she was surrounded by). Maybe if she played a wider set list, it would have appeared like she was saying "remember me?"

How many anti-women's health folks are men? It isn't their bodies involved. Why do they dislike women so? Misogyny? Isn't that special?
The majority of those that legislate laws are men, so in turn laws regarding womens' health are up to men. It's really just a matter not being informed, much like how whenever planned parenthood comes to mind, most people think "abortion" even though that is a very small fraction of the services they offer.
Perhaps the men that are anti-women's health reside in a couple different areas of...

Will you continue to support the Susan G. Komen Foundaton, knowing it is held hostage by Planned Parenthood?
I never supported the Komen Foundation in the first place because they aren't actually looking for a CURE to cancer, just new/better ways to TREAT it. There's far more money to be made in adminstering years or a lifetime's worth of treatments than there is in flat out curing oe preventing cancer.

What kind of person marries someone with kids and then demands that he/she be put first and the kids second? Insecure/controlling/selfish?
The demander was likely more interested in the partner to begin with, the kids just happened to be there. Some people just aren't into kids and feel that kids have their place. Insecure, controlling, or selfish, it's up to the parent not to reward that behavior and chose to be with someone else.

Not so much traitors, but I think they are doing a disservice to the advancement of civilization. It can be wrong if you are going through college, taking on massive student loan debt, for a career that will ultimately never be pursued. There have been a couple businesses (a card shop and a knife shop) that I stepped in not knowing from the outside how tiny they were. So instead things got more awkward browsing the miniscule, overpriced inventory... then leaving anyways.

If you pay an ISP, then this isn't your internet. Why shouldn't artists and writers have their work aggressively protected?
Because the ISPs are looking to make as much money as possible, and policing the internet would cut into the profits. Answer to:
Why do women generally cheat less than men on average? Why are women more faithful?
I'm sure that the less progressive the society is, the less likely a woman is to cheat. Prior to womens' liberation, it was in their best interest not to cheat because they needed to keep their spouse happy so he'd continue to provide for her and the family. That and prior to sexual liberation, there was often less pleasure for women in having sex.
That certainly used to be the case, but...

If a married or committed man hits on you, should you tell his wife/girlfriend? why/why not?
Unless he's coming on too strong/aggressively, I'd say stay out reporting it because there is always the chance of misinterpretation. Some people might think they are being hit on when in reality the guy is just overly social.

Is it wrong not to report a shoplifter?
The store may have to sell 10-20 units to make up for the loss of just one that is stolen.
I might give the staff a heads up, but I don't think I'd stick around. The problem is that many shoplifters do it as their only means of income. If they find out I turned them in, they might come after me... especially if they are part of a crimnal theft ring.

Answer to:
What would this world be like if no men existed? Would it be safer? Quieter?
It might start off quieter, but it would only be a matter of time before things returned to business as usual. Women appear to get along much better than they actually do because it isn't considered "woman-like" in our society to be openly hostile/confrontational with eachother. Women can be just as power-hungry and violent as men, so it would just be a matter of time before the new society...

Men, what fashion trend for women do you find really unattractive?
Those oversized bug-eyed sunglasses. They are worn copying celebrities who only wore them in the first place to make it harder to be recognized.
Either that or those tiny "armpit purses" that seem to be too small to serve any practical function.
Answer to:
Do you like small handbags?
I don't like the ones that I refer to as "armpit purses", they seem like they are just as inconvenient to carry as a slighly larger one with more capacity.

What will you think of me when I successfully defecate in a movie theatre and then rub my beautiful, soft, smelly poo everywhere and why?
As to your first question, it would make me think you were selfish and spolied, and have no regard for the people in the theater or the employees that have to clean up the mess.
With your second question I think it would make you a cruel person taking away the ability to end the suffering of a terminal pet.
Answer to:

What would you do if you see two girls kissing?
I suppose it all depends on the situation, like if it was in a place where showing forms of affection weren't appropriate (hetero or otherwise). Other than that I wouldn't do anything, it's just two people showing affection... unless it's just two straight girls trying to draw attention to themselves.

Answer to:
Why is all pop music today manufactured rubbish? the kids of the future need to listen to real music!!
That's pretty much how pop music has been since the 60s. People need pop music because they aren't able to go out and find music on their own. Pop fills that need because it creates music for "everyone" to agree on (of course half the reason any of the music is popular is because it is SUPPOSED to be popular).
That said, if you think about it it's kind of hard to craft a catchy pop tune.

Why are some adults even more ill behaved than kids? Some need more discipline than kids, why?
It's because they know there isn't a parent figure around to punish them. Often they are self-aware of their actions, and think that it's one of their charms. Taking pride in being an a-hole because they think it makes them look tough, or that being bitchy makes self-proclaimed "bad girls" think it makes them more interesting.

what celebrity doesn't deserve to be a celebrity?
For years my go-to answer was Paris Hilton, but by now she;s at least done some things like acting to at least demonstrate some skill or work ethic.
Nowadays I would have to go with reality TV stars like the Kardashians who don't demonstrate having any skills, who only became celebrities because they had a rich father and they dated guys who were already established stars.

They are usually the same type of people who are incapable of taking resposibilty for their actions. Whenever the person gets in trouble, they always blame the authority figures for getting them in trouble.

Celebrities. Think of all the real news in the world being missed in exchange for being interested only in celebrity gossip. Perhaps it is because I live in the Northwest, where people will find an excuse to protest anything, so protesting is a very commonplace thing to see. If I've written off the "Occupy" movements it's because I found there weren't enough clear goals, just more of a blanket protest about inequity without specifics.

Why does America have this stereotypical view that all socialist European countries were like east Germany and the soviet union?
It's because they very closely equate socialism with communism. Having very little knowledege about either system, they only dinfine them as "all the people who don't work getting all the benefits". That's not an equal comparison. It should be the word of a wich/worlock versus the word of a priest/pastor.

Answer to:
What band or recording artist most reminds you of your high school days?
In the most general of terms I would probably say Nirvana, given that I started and then later stopped liking them while still in high school. But for pure nostalgia-inducing music I would have to go with a lot one one-hit wonders from the time whose songs are rarely, if ever, played now (such as Better Than Ezra).

Andy Rooney died today, how many here still remember him? (and how many don't know who he is)?
My parents used to always watch 60 Minutes, and I always enjoyed Rooney's segments at the end of the show. I haven't watched the show on any kind of regular basis since I moved out. I don't understand the people who get so uptight about the "complaining" he did... it was just observational humor from someone of another generation.

What would you think of everyone getting a reversible sterilization at birth and you can't undo it without a marriage license?
I think of the girls/women who "trick" their guy into getting them pregnant (by lying about or tampering with birth control) in ordet to try and force him to marry her... often as a poor means of saving a failing relationship. Pre-marriage sterilization may curb those forced marriages which often lead to divorce.

Yes, it's very easy for an unregulated kid to end up spending all waking hours playing video games.

As much as I enjoy playing playing games like that, I'll have to admit they are more of a waste of time considering how many more productive things I could be doing with the same amount of time. I'd say that one of the biggest influences is the person having bad experiences with people of faith. The ironic thing is that often the people of faith causing the bad experiences are usually bad examples if not full-on hypocrites of what faith should be (when they are acting overly-zealous, overly-jundgemental, and/or overly-naive).

It may appear that way, just as it may appear that music is getting worse. First off, I don't think that it is TRUE atheism that is on the increase... it's just more people who don't like Christianity (yet don't seem to mind other religions). It's also easier to speak out against religion (in most developed countries) as we get further away from the time when people would be killed for being a heretic.

I figure it would be a sort of Darwinism/"survival of the fittest" type of deal. If women would chose to never be with an abusive partner, then the types of abusive personalities would not get the chance to reproduce. I'm not even talking about genetics here. Abuse is generally a behavior that is learned.

I guess it depends on the types of things they are lying about. I knew someone who lied about things he had no reason to lie about. Do you reckon your average American politician aware that the French do actually have to pay a % of their health care (you get a bill!), on top of all the taxes they and their employers put in? It's still 6 billion Euros in deficit despite this.
I reckon the only thing the average American politician knows about health care is whatever the deep pockets of the health/pharmacutical industry lobbies tell them.

Tons of people need jobs now. Tons more will lose jobs with budget cuts. When do we start creating jobs? Anyone have a plan for that?
Perhaps if those budget cuts extended to the politicians...
One thing we could do is to support products that are made in our country, and refuse to support those that have moved our jobs overseas. It may cost more at first, but eventually prices will come down as production moves back here.

A US football player just signed a $120,000,000.00 contract. This at a time when we are in recssion. Isn't it time to stop this greed?"
I'm not sure that it is really about greed on the player's part so much as it is that's what the owners are offering to pay. Likely it's not as if the player was payed less, that somehow there would be more money for everyone else. Ultimately it's the fans that suffer having to pay higher ticket prices and for expensive merchandise... then again nobody is under any obligation to support the team.

Why do people start smoking cigarettes? Most people who are addicted wish they had never started, but how and why did they get into them in the first place?
The simple reason why people smoke is because they are addicted. It only feels good because it is simply staving off withdrawl. It's kind of a catch 22. If the boy is allowed to be absolved than the child has the potential of growing up with the limited means of a struggling single mother. On the other hand if he is forced to be a parent, he may still never love that child and eventually leave the family at some point anyways, and that his resentment makes for an awkward home life.

Answer to:
Why is it that I watch people ghost hunting at night and not during the day when there is much more energy available?
It is usually more quiet and with less activity at night, making for less intereference from background noises. Also psychologically speaking, people are more prone to interpret things as being ghosts at night because humans have a nature unease with darkness with us not being nocturnal creatures.

Perhaps that first day of the breakdown ranting he was a genious, but now he's too self aware and is acting out more for the sake of publicity. Still I have to vote OTHER because I just see it all as the actions of someone who has been too privileged for too long who has taken too many drugs.

Should texting while driving be made illegal ? What about using your cell phone while driving?
Certainly texting should be illegal. As for cell phones, I'm a little split only because some people have the ability to talk and drive, while many do not... it's like there should be a driving test to allow cell phone usage.
The real sad thing about texting related collisions is that people are dying for a technology that will probably be obsolete in the very near future.

Why does everyone hate cops?
Because many people have very little concept of there being consequences for their actions. By that I refer to people who I've known that are or were petty criminals, reckless drivers or juvenile mischeifs who when they get caught see it all as the cop's fault. Those people can't accept the responisibility that they broke the law, and instead see it as being persecuted.

False because it is self-defeating/ self-fulfilling. For the most part all coffee does is ward off the symptoms of caffine withdrawl.

Is Oil Speculation Responsible for High Gas Prices?
I believe that that there is another form of speculation that is driving up the prices, when the news media makes speculative claims. If/when they overestimate the rise in prices, the oil companies hear that and feel it is okay to hit that number, even if it was higher than they intended to raise them to.

Do you think video games are good or bad for children? Why?
I'm sure that the bad outweighs the good, especially when the "benefits" of gaming are dubious. I mean, how much real world application is there to have a wealth of hand-eye coordination? They also say that video games allow kids to let off steam rather than act out violently in real life. If that were the case shouldn't there be less violent behavior in kids than there ever was.

I'd help so long as it was obvious that it was a mugging taking place and not just a scuffle (given that I don't want to wrongfully assume who the perpetrator is). The thing is that I'm less likely to be helpful than I used to be because over the past several years I've had many strangers turn down my offers to help or I've injured myself in the process of being a good samaratin.

It's weird how which side of the family I dreaded being with has reversed over the years. I used to dread getting together with my wife's side of the family because there was too much drama and too many out of control kids. Noe those kids are young adults and no longer screech for attention or cry when a sibling got a better present.

Should Amazon really sell "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure"?
Not knowing anything about the book, or whether it is serious or a tongue-in-cheek (so to speak)... I'd say Amazon should sell whatever they want. If it ends up giving them problems or costing them customers, then that's their problem. I seriously doubt any book is going to create new pedophiles any more than the threat of harsher prison sentences is going to make it go away. Pedophilia is more...

WHY are most Americans deeply ignorant about religion..? And who are the least ignorant?
It probably has something to do with the Americal "lone cowboy" mentality, the way we admire the individual, the loner, the rebel. We have fewer social customs that keep us together or that we ALL follow like in many other countries. Yet at the same time it seems to be human nature to want to belong to something, so we'll be part of a group, yet not want to be just another cog in the machine.

Why does employers make it harder for people to form unions for better pay?
Much like modern feminism, the major battles have already been won, but today unions seem to be going too impractically far. Rather than fihgting for rights or honest wages, it seems to more about defending someone from being fired no matter how bad of an employee they were.
Answer to:
Why do some of the religious people (at least the ones on AB) think that atheist are actively attacking them? I don't see any attack
Perhaps it is something like how often a bully doesn't realize they are bullying. You aren't going to be as likely to interpret something as an attack if it is upon something you don't belive in. For example, let's say you don't like the Jonas Brothers or Nickelback (groups that you are all but obligated to make fun of)... you wouldn't find anything "attacking" about mocking people who happen...

Theists, how do you convince atheists that there is a God?
To convince by not actively trying to convince them. A large portion of atheists became that way because at some point people in their lives tried forcing religion on them, or they were exposed to too much religious extremism. A theist should just be normal to show that they can be normal people too.

That combined with the relative lack of female musicians, composers, conductors etc.

How long would you wait to be seated at a restaurant? (e.g. the waitperson says "It will be ___minutes (or hours)." Fill in with max time.
I suppose it depends on if I'm with a large group or not, where it would be a pain to figure out and meet up at another place. For me though, I think I'd only wait 10-15 minutes. I've never viewed the restaurant as the destination (whereas some many people see it as the whole plan for the evening/afternoon), but simply as the place to eat before going to the real destination.

What do you think the media does well when it comes to covering criminal justice issues, and what do you think it does poorly?
Well if they weren't getting the word out, more crimes would go unsolved without the public awareness.
Specifically, I think that Nancy Grace does a poor job. All her show does is focus on a single missing white child, often for weeks on end. For 30-60 minutes they debate and argue with only a small amount of evidence, meaning there is a lot of guessing and assumption.

Of course, almost as important as the condom is the need to inform people on how to use them properly.

What is the worst, most dangerous flaw humans possess and if given the power, which one would you eliminate?
I'd have to say greed because it keeps people from working together. More so than hate because people that hate eachother can still work together for a common goal. Usually hatered is based on something, a reason to hate, whereas greed is often less well-founded.

Would you rather win an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy or Tony?
As little as it is that I'm into the theater scene, I think I'd rather win a Tony just because I think it is the most "pure" of the awards. That is, it seems to be the most awarded based on talent. Especially compared to the Grammys which always end up awarding the top-selling artists.

Baseball games are long enough as it is, they don't need game-delaying distractions. People are copycats, so if this guy got off without a scratch, it would only encourage more people across the country to run out on the field. This sends the message that it might not be the best idea.

Though I don't despise them, I've never really been much of a fan of The Beatles, probably because I was never much into "old" music. Is it a rise in numbers or a rise in percentage? Maybe it's simply being reported more than it used to. Dressing too sexy can send the wrong message to the guys they are seeing. The public has such a short attention span that they/we would have moved onto the next "scandal" and all but forgotten about some billionaire's sex life.
Answer to:
Does anyone actually like the new answerbag layout?
The old layout had more of a community feel to it where it was mainly about peoples' questions as they asked them. Now all the new questions make up about a fifth of the area, and the rest feels busy and filled with too much information.

Answer to:
Is there any scientific proof that ghosts are real?
I believe in ghosts but I don't believe in much of the evidence that is presented, especially the photographic kind. Often the "proof" is open to interpretation; where some people see a wild looking object that wasn't there when they took the picture... an avid photgrapher can say that it's just a shakey cemera set to night-shooting or a speck of dust on the lens.
Answer to:
Do you believe Valentine's Day is a sham holiday created by a greeting card company or do you think its a romantic, meaningful day?
The thing is that most people will agree it's a sham, but that doesn't stop them from wanting to be showered with nice things that day.

Answer to:
Would you eat bacon flavoured popcorn?
I'd give it a shot. I'm sure I'd be let down because it would probably taste too artificial. Also, many bacon-flavored things are really just BBQ-flavored
Answer to:
What do you put on your popcorn?
Popcorn salt. The problem is that the stuff is very potent and it's easy to add too much.

Answer to:
True OR False? You MUST have popcorn when you go to the movie theater?
False. Sure it tastes good, but I don't find it to be a very good value considering how cheaply I can make it at home. Besides, I'm too considerate and do my best to eat it quietly... unlike those around me ruffling through the bags and chewing with their mouths open.
Answer to:
Some people crave/need attention and others not so much. Why the difference? Is it simple extrovert/introvert or something else?
One of the leading causes of ADD or ADHD is when the presonas a baby/young child isn't shown enough attention, so they grow up trying to get the attention they never received.

Answer to:
For rap music listeners: who do u think has been/is the greatest rapper of all time?
Even though most people will cite old school acts, at the end of the day they don't actually listen to them when they get home. It's unfortunate that the rap genre isn't about a "greatest of all time", but mainly about who is the latest and hottest at the moment. You rarely hear anybody say "I've always loved____"
Answer to:
Which Super Bowl XLIV commercial was your favorite?
I was beginning to get tired of all the Budweiser and Doritos commercials. I picture older, not internet-savvy viewers not understanding the Google commercial. Given the controversy leading up to it, I thought that the Focus on the Family commercial was going to much more overtly pro-life.

Do you really believe that the majority of citizens are truly educated enough to make a truly informed desiscion?
Not at all, that's why everyone is so political party obsessed. They need to be part of something that tells them what they are supposed to believe and how they are required to vote. For every well researched vote that is made how many knee jerk/ lock step votes are cast to cancel it out?
Answer to:
Is government-run healthcare a good thing?
Given the right proposal it can be a good thing. The government is used to losing money on things, so it's nice to know they'd sacrifice for the health of a person, rather that private health care that trims every possible penny from their costs to profit as much as possible. right now I don't think the US plan is as good as it could have been.

Answer to:
If you could only choose one, which sporting event would you attend?
Though football is my favorite sport to watch, I'm not too sure I'd necessarily want to go to the Super Bowl. From what I hear most of the people in the crowd aren't really even either of the two teams' biggest fans. Rather it is a collection of business people who were going there regardless of who was playing, and thus are probably less interested in what's happening on-field.
Answer to:
Is it reasonable for a parent to prohibit their eighteen year old child from using Facebook and other social utilities such as Twitter?
It's not so much about age as it is who is paying for the internet access. If it's the parent then they should have the say.

How can I convince my Christian girlfriend that self-pleasure is a sin and she must stop?
The only mentioning of masturbation being a "sin" only relates to when men do it. That is because they are wasting (spilling) the seed that could have been used to crate new life. It's not as if a woman pleasing herself is going to somehow waste her eggs.
Answer to:
Is a slut worse than a prude?
As stated by many before me, sluts just want to have fun. I can't recall being at a gathereing where someone was TOO slutty and ruined it for everyone... but I've had many times where the prude in the room ruined the fun for everyone.

Google just put out its new Nexus One smart phone. What's your take?

Answer to:
I'm looking for a good gift idea for a housewarming party – any ideas? I'm not looking to spend a ton...
For the same amount you'd typically spend on a bottle of wine you could get them a large bottle of good olive oil. It would be functional and would last FAR longer than wine would.
Answer to:

I might. I've certainly posted the least that I ever have since the change. The old site had more of a community feel to it, this new one feels like some cold database that we are merely adding to.
Answer to:
What do you think about women who only date married men?
They are easier to trick into bed because all the guy has to do is pretend he is married.
Answer to:
Why does some guy attracted to female body hair? ( example: leg hair?)
No matter what "flaw" a particular woman might have, there is ALWAYS going to be some guy out there who is attracted to it. Too bad it doesn't work the same when the roles are reversed nearly as often.

Then again I suppose it feels better than getting something I completely WOULDN'T want at all.

Which was the best Alien Movie?
I'm sure that people who were to now watch 'Aliens' for the first time would see it as nothing all that special, or cliched. That's because the formula for 'Aliens' has been copied so many times, it was the movie that started it all.

Answer to:
How do you feel about those idiot parents who half-ass dress their kids in the winter, but they are all bundled up?
I'm sure that they find that easier than arguing with the child who doesn't understand the need to bundle up. Answer to:
How many years had to pass before it was safe for people to admit that they didn't really like the movie 'Top Gun'?
I never really cared for it, I thought it was too slow, and never the action/buddy movie it was billed to be. Maybe it's because the public has turned against Tom Cruise since he started acting crazy, but now it seems people are willing to say they never really cared for the movie.

Do Working Moms Put Their Kids at a Disadvantage?
In many cases all the money that the mother earns simply goes towards the cost of childcare... an expense that wouldn't be there had the mother stayed home with the child. Once the child is old enough to be unsupervised, than it often ends up that they are getting raised by the television.

Does anybody else think that Al Gore should have to give back his global warming Nobel Prize for the same reason that Milli Vanilli had to give back their Grammy? (-4 here today)
Just because he doesn't practice what he preaches doesn't mean he should give it back. Perhaps if he was taking all the credit for someone else's work, like Milli Vanilli, then he should.
Answer to:

I'm sure it's more of a self preservation thing rather than the pet trying to help the owner out.
Answer to:
If there were a way to resolve your differences with others, whether the differences are perceived or real, would you do it or do you enjoy not liking some people and prefer things the way they are?
It's hard to say. There are some people that I never thought I would get along with so I never expected or wished for things to get better. Then eventually I got along with them and then wondered why it was I didn't want to get along with them (if able).

Do you think that Walmart is bad for America? Have they brought the level of retailing down to the trailer park level? Do you think that their requirement that manufacturers keep lowering their prices has affected the general quality of merchandise?
Walmart, and stores like it, have shifted demand away from quality well-built merchandise. People now want things for the lowest possible price, even if it means that their "stuff" is going to end up in the landfill in only a couple years.

Do you think one reason kids are so disrespectful these days is because parents don't give them enough spankings?
To a degree (despite the people that call it child abuse). It might be part of a larger issue that parents don't think they can discipline their children without feeling that they are somehow violating the child's civil rights.

Many Republicans are critical of Al Gore because he is rich and lives in a huge mansion that uses LOTS of electricity, has a big car that uses lot of fuel, etc. Billy Graham is a rich man, that has a big house etc. Does this fact diminish their message?
I suppose if he lived in a small house and drove an efficient car, republicans would instead label him as a hippie, and still not listen to a word he says. It's kind of like getting marriage advice from someone who you just found out is divorced, there was nothing wrong with the information it's just that the perception changed.

If you could do one thing to 'fix' the American political system, that did not include a specific person (no getting rid of this person or that one), what would you do? And why do you think it would help? *see my answer for an example*
By doing away with political parties. Some people have blind allegances to their parties and/or will disreagard ANYTHING that the "other" party has to say. Voters would also actually have to do some research on what their candidates actually stand for rather than simply checking off the (R) or (D).
then again this is a larger self-esteem issue, people aren't comfortable with...

Should food stamps be used to buy organic food?
I'm not a big believer in "organic". Products labeled as organic don't have to be 100% organic (I think they can be around 70% and still pass). The other thing is that organic foods usually cost more, so there is less bang-for-the-food-stamp.

Do we spend money on unnecessary things so none is left for important things? You know...billions on a war of choice for example so there is none left for healthcare or education? We spend on death, not on life. Why?
Like everything else in this consumer-maddened country that spends more to kill than it does to cure, it's all about the instant gratification. With war you can see immediate results, whereas things like education and health care take years to show their true value... and with less photogenic results.

Either way, she'll find a way to say it wasn't her fault, that she was somehow tricked into it or claim that the photographer took...

I've considered myself to be a Republican more than a Democrat. Yet I vote for Pro choice and gay marriages. I'm "conservative" to an extent. My question is, am I the only one like this? There must be other "hybrids" out there.
The key is not to label yourself (thus limiting yourself) as either Republican or Democrat. Either side as a required set of beliefs that some people will actually force themselves to conform to even if it wasn't what they originally believed.
