Take a knife and stab the top of the jar with it and it will pop right open. I've never tried it with a salsa jar but i know it works with a jar of tomato sauce.

Ive been a victim of "Attempted" Mugging. I was outside of the mall late at night and two guys came up to me and pinned me against a wall and tryed to take my wallet. The jerks didn't know that my 6 ft 5 brother was around the corner. I've never seen two people run away so fast haha.
