Answer to:
Am I lucky to be an only child?
Well, I am an only child, and I considered myself lucky in the way that I had my parents' attention all to myself, didn't have to fight for that, or share my special stuff with someone else who might not take care of it. If I needed or really wanted something badly, I always got it because I was the only one they had to provide for. On the other hand, there was a lot of pressure (and...
Answer to:
Have you started to do your Christmas shopping?
No, usually I do start by now but I just can't think of any good ideas for anyone. I feel like I've done this for so many years for the same people that I have run out of ideas of what to get everyone. I've already gotten them so many things - what's left? And money is always an issue. I could really enjoy it if we had lots of extra money to spend, but we don't.

Magazines are always taking polls on who is the sexiest guy in Hollywood or TV but there are a lot of sexy older men. So I wanted to Poll real people and ask who is the sexiest oldest guy , and why. I like Sean Connery. Love his voice. Same for females.
Steven Tyler is 61 and I'd certainly vote for him!

Answer to:
Do you think its hard to find real friends
Yes. In school it seemed easy, as I moved every couple of years, would "pick" a best friend and she would be my best friend. It worked great. But since graduating from college, I find nice acquaintances, but no "best friend like a sister", which is what I have been looking for, for 13 years now. I just continue to pray God will send me one, and I believe it's still...

Yes. I'm the one with the long face :-)

What do you wish your parents had told you?
That I was pretty.
Answer to:
Has bringing up children become too complex and demanding, shouldn't it be a little more simpler i.e what to eat, constant activities, looking to constantly entertain and making sure they have all the latest gadgets?
Yes, I believe it has. Kids used to be a help to their parents, now the parents serve the kids. No wonder families are overall much smaller than they used to be.
Answer to:
What do you wish you had known about caring for an infant before you had one of your own?
Oh, man. I could go on and on about this one. As an only child who had never been around little children/babies very much before I got pregnant at 22, I had NO idea... They don't sleep at night unless you're right there beside them, and even then they wake up every 2 hours to nurse for 40 min at a time. They cry a lot, way more than you'd expect, even when all is taken care...

The beach is fun to play in the surf, walk along the shore, and lay out on a towel, and it's so beautiful, but for actual swimming, a pool is better.

I am pretty picky as far as things things having to be "my style" and up to date, but I try to get those types of things from consignment stores, secondhand stores, garage sales, and online like ebay etc. to get them as cheaply as possible.

I have a burning sensation coming from my inner labia and it hurts when i go pee, it only hurts when i go pee and it doesnt hurt when i touch but it does feel swollen and it is tender but im not having vaginal intercourse. Whats wrong with me?
My guess would be a UTI (infection of the urinary tract) probably of the urethra. Of course I don't know that for sure, but they feel like that. I'd go get some cranberry extract pills and some AZO standard and take them with loads of water to flush out the bacteria. I take 3 or 4 cranberry pills every 4 hours till it starts feeling better, with lots of water each time of course....
Answer to:
Does having children ruin relationships and marriages?
I wouldn't say it ruins them if you're 100% committed, but once you have children, in my experience, you are no longer a husband and wife, a couple, able to have fun with one another. You become the mom and the dad, co-parents, and teammates. It makes you grow up and forget yourselves whether you want to or not, and that puts stress on both of you and thus the relationship. It can...

Our local school has banned the Halloween party this year, to be "fair" to the kids that don't have costumes and to prevent kids wearing inappropriate costumes. They are holding a Fall party this week instead. Thoughts?
We always had a Halloween party and got to dress up for it and parade through the halls at school, and it was a highlight of the school year. My daughter got to do that too, for the first 5 years of school, and loved it too. And I loved seeing all the kiddos having fun in their costumes as a sponsoring parent. Then they switched from Christmas party to winter, and from Halloween party to...

I wish I had siblings to reminisce with, and to see different perspectives on things that happened. Since I was the only one, nobody else can talk with me about my parents, places we lived etc., and I miss that with all my heart. That is why I had three children, so they would have each other.

Depends on which pet you are talking about. The big old Pyrenees/Lab does a lot of annoying things, mainly getting into the trash constantly and dragging it all over the kitchen. Has he run into anything recently when flying? The parakeet I had growing up ran into a glass candy jar at full speed and fell over, knocked out. He woke up soon and we put him back in his cage. For the rest of his life he would randomly get dizzy and start leaning, fall off his perch, and be on the floor of his cage for a few moments then would get back up and be ok. He could still fly...

How do you help your kids to acquire abilities of appreciation (i.e. to be thankful of what they already have had)?
I would like some good answers on this one as well. For some reason, I was always very grateful for everything I got/had as a child, and still am that way. Our kids, on the other hand, seem to think that what they already have is "boring" and they always want more, then don't take care of or appreciate it. By example I think I show them how to be, but it isn't helping.

No, my parents were better off apart than together. Living with them all my childhood, I knew that better than anyone. So I was glad when it happened because it was best for them both. I think grown up kids should grow up about this and accept that their parents are people, not just parents, and need to do what they need to do to be happy.

Have you had his teeth looked at? Sometimes if they have a sharp corner on their tooth or teeth it can hurt to eat hay. It's a little easier to eat grain/sweet feed but they do need hay if they don't have pasture. A vet can file off the sharp parts and make it much more comfy to eat roughage. If that's the problem - it may not be. Just a suggestion.

Answer to:
I theorize that children suck energy from adults, and that is why kids have so much energy while parents always seem so tired. Who'd like to agree with me?
I agree! I used to have all kinds of energy until I had kids. Now I feel all old and worn out a lot of the time, but they just keep going and going.... I think it's the neverending sense of responsibility. I just hope it gets better as they get older.

Answer to:
Did you ever in your wildest dreams, think that raising children would be this hard?
NO. I had no idea. I was an only child and had never been around children for extended amounts of time. It was the biggest shock of my life. 12 years and 3 kids later I still have trouble understanding why it's as hard as it is!

Answer to:
When you were a kid (living at home) did you get spanked or otherwise physically "punished" (including beaten) when your parents thought you did wrong? Do you think those spankings/beatings/punishments really made you a better adult?
I got spanked a few times before I was 6 years old. Never after that. I deserved it when I got it, and I don't know if it made me a better person but it didn't harm me or make me a worse one. It made me never do whatever it was again, so it accomplished its purposes. I only remember about 4 times total.

Do you think you are a better parent than you parents were? Why?
I'm afraid I am not. I was an only child born after my parents were married a long time, and I was my mom's whole life. She never wanted to be anywhere but home with me. I feel bored and lonely stuck at home with my 3 kids. I got taken to the dentist yearly, and I don't take my kids unless they have a bad cavity because we can't afford it. My mom and I told each other...

Do you still light a real fire at home?
Only once or twice a year on really cold nights. We have a perfectly good central heating system so it seems extravagant to go buy firewood and burn it for a few hours. It also dirties up our chimney and I don't want to have to pay a chimney sweep to come clean it out for safety any more than every 5 or 6 years. If we used it all the time we'd have to clean it out every year.

IS 21 too young to get married?
I think it is, because I did just that. We weren't even finished with college. I went from being a good little girl - a daughter, a straight-A student, an overachiever with goals and dreams, directly to being married, then soon a mom, living in poverty and stuck at home with a baby. I never got to be a grown-up young woman with a job and a place of her own, never got to travel or learn to...

I am baby horse shopping right now. Should I get a Paint, a Quarter horse, or just anything Palimino?
You should get the kind you are drawn to. Depends on what you want to do with him/her as well. Do lots of research and get to know about the horse's parents and the owner's handling style as well. A baby horse is a HUGE commitment.

What is the gentlest breed of horse?
Draft horses like Clydesdales, Percherons, Shires etc. are generally known for being gentle and calm, but are so big they would be very expensive to feed and house. Also difficult to tack up and get on/off of for a ride. Senior horses (over 16 years old or so) of any breed are usually calm, gentle, and easy to work with if they've been treated/trained right over the years. Getting an older...

What are you doing to cut back on expenses?
I think I do about everything possible to cut back on expenses. I buy all food and supplies at Wal-Mart and buy clothes secondhand for myself and my two little boys and pass them down from the older to the younger. I guess I would call it sort of a "dark comedy". I laughed quite a bit and enjoyed it mostly. My main complaint about it is I would have not used so much gratuitous bad language; and then the ending was very abrupt, leaving me wondering exactly what happened to the surviving characters.

Have you any experience of hypnobirthing?
Yes, it really helps you to relax during labor but you have to practice the relaxation exercises daily starting as early in the pregnancy as possible so you will be conditioned to relax before you get into labor. Oklahoma:
Pros: People are friendly and helpful, it's not too crowded, 4 definite seasons, relatively low cost of living, low crime rate, good rodeos, lots of horses around and some cool wildlife.
Cons: Landscape not really pretty, VERY hard to find a high-paying job, teachers and public servants don't get paid much (but do they anywhere? I don't know that)

Well, it depends on your situation. Beagles tend to dig out from under fences and they have a somewhat loud "hound" bark, but they are very happy, friendly dogs usually and overall pretty low maintenance. Yes, in my case it does. I feel on the inside like a young, innocent teenage girl who is sweet and kind and happy. So I dress/do my hair, makeup etc. to try to match my outside to my inside. Both! My parents were both very conservative and didn't like to spend money, but would spend occasionally for something that was really important to them after they'd waited for it for awhile. The first choice. I would be absolutely mortified if the second option happened.

What could your parents learn today, if you could teach them?
That racism is wrong in any form, mild or overt. And that it is impossible to save money when you have three children and live in an expensive town on only one income.

Answer to:
How would your father describe you?
As "a good kid". He was proud of me because I made good grades, never got in trouble, and got married to a guy he approved of and gave him grandbabies before he passed away. The best compliment he ever gave me though, was that I was a "good little rider". (Referring to my horseback riding skills, which he taught me, and he didn't give compliments easily).

Smoking shortens the lifespan of the smoker from 1 to 7 years. engaging in homosexual behavior reduces the lifespan by 24 years! Why does the smoker get fired both are life style
I would say it's because homosexuality doesn't compromise the health of anyone in that person's workplace, whereas smoking (secondhand smoke and the smoke smell on the person's clothes/hair etc.)can.

Even though my boyfriend calls me daily, we only see each other once a week. Could he be afraid of commitment?
He may be afraid that if you spend all your spare time together the sparkle and excitement will wear off and your relationship will become monotonous and commonplace. He may want to keep just enough distance that you don't get tired of one another. Have you heard the old saying "familiarity breeds contempt"? He may be afraid of that. But if he talks with you on the phone each...

I Love and appreciate my children more than anything, however sometimes i feel so suffocated i want to scream... Anyone else feel like this, does it make me a bad mother?
You betcha I feel like this and you are not alone or a bad mother! I have three children, and the adjustment to motherhood was the hardest thing I've ever done. I absolutely adore them and am so grateful for them but I desperately miss being around people and succeeding in challenges outside the home. I've lost a lot of who I am. I have hope of regaining myself when my youngest who...

If you've known them for 4 years and after all that time, there's no doubt they are your soulmate, then even if it hurts for awhile, break up with your current person and go back to your soulmate. Otherwise you'll regret it forever.
Answer to:
Were you born with blonde hair, but have a different hair color now (naturally)?
Yes. I was blonde as can be, then in about 3rd grade it started turning darker until it became an ugly light brown. I lighten it now to make it like it was as a child. Why does hair do that??
Answer to:
What should you have a gold medal for?
My two VBAC's (vaginal births after a cesarean). Both completely natural, the first one was 8 lb., 14 oz. and the second one was 9 lbs., 1 oz. And I'm only 5'3" and 115 lbs. AND being a stay at home mom to 3 kids after being an only child myself with no experience with children.

What is the one thing you want most but can never have?
Siblings - I'm an adult only child and I'd give about anything to have siblings to talk to, discuss our parents with, do things with, be able to be an aunt, help with children etc.
Answer to:
What’s the one thing you wanted most when you were a kid, but never received?
I was an only child and we lived in a mobile home and moved every 1 to 3 years. I always desperately wanted a trampoline. My dad thought they were just a lawsuit waiting to happen. I treasured times when I'd get to jump on someone else's, although that only happened about 3 times. So when my daughter turned 6, five years ago, we bought her one, and I've been on it as much as any...

Answer to:
What is your most fond childhood memory of your father?
Going on trail rides with him. We'd take our two horses and join up with hundreds of other trail riders and wagon teams and ride down the South Canadian river near Taloga, OK. They were 3 day trail rides and we'd camp overnight on cots beside our horse trailer. We'd ride 26 miles each the first two days then about 14 miles the third day. It was hot and thirsty, but wow, was...

If YOU came with Instructions what would they say?
Must have some chocolate at least once a day. Needs large quantities of water to drink. Will melt in the presence of dogs, horses, kittens and babies, and will want to accumulate a collection of each of these specimens. Must be exercised daily to maintain sanity. Must not be taken to live more than an hour's drive away from its mother. Sings hymns at random times.
Answer to:
Was your mom a stay-at-home mom or a working mom?
She stayed home until I was a junior in high school, not counting substitute teaching occasionally here and there. I appreciate that so much, but I have three kids and am staying home with them and I've done so for SOOO long. (Our oldest is 11 1/2) I'll probably go to some kind of job when our youngest gets into kindergarten or first grade. (He's 2 now). I miss the interaction...

What item of food, which has long since been discontinued, are you missing the most?
This was years and years ago, but there used to be a nutrition/weight loss bar called Figurines. They were chocolate and tasted delicious. I was just a kid but loved them.

Answer to:
What's your favorite breed of horse and why?
POA's, because I had an amazing, wonderful POA gelding when I was growing up, who taught me to ride. I also like them because they are unusually marked (not solid colors, usually, anyway) which makes them stand out and be noticed.

Girl or boy? What color? I love coming up with names but I would need more specifics to go about it correctly.
Answer to:
How old were you when you learned to ride a horse?
I was 10 when my dad actually started letting me ride by myself with him on another horse beside me, going down the road. I rode regularly from age 10 to age 15, then only on an occasional weekend. Never took lessons, although I would have liked to. He just rode western and taught me what he knew. He's gone now, and I sure miss him and wish he was around to help me with my two ponies...

I know a lady that has had seven miscarriages. Although a personal choice to continue trying to have a baby, do you think that she would stop and give up one day? What drives her to continue, while failure seems inevitable? I'm interested in your opinion
I know a lady who had 12 miscarriages but carried the 13th pregnancy to term and had a beautiful baby girl. It was what she wanted more than anything, and to give up would have been the wrong thing to do in her case. She would never have gotten her daughter. She had to take progesterone and do some other stuff to help keep the baby in there during the critical first trimester/beginning of...

My 18 month old son is getting naggy and screaming alot. Its hard to go any where with him....i dont know what to do. I try ignoring it, but he still does it. Anyone have some good tips on how to solve this problem?
I've got three, and every one of them does this at around that age. It keeps being like that until they're around 4 1/2, too. It's the hardest part of being a parent, in my opinion. I am pretty much stuck at home if I have a child between those ages. The only ways to help is to take a ziplock baggie full of his favorite kinds of non-messy snacks, like raisins, crackers,...

Do you ever look at someone and think "Wow, I really want to be friends with that person" (Or something like that)? If you have, what did you do from there?
Yes, I have. All through school (I moved a lot) I did that and it always worked! I'd just start talking to them, asking them about themselves, and being nice to them and we'd end up best friends. But as an adult, it just doesn't work like that. I'm a stay at home mom and don't get out enough to spend time with someone long enough to become close friends, only casual...

Answer to:
I dyed my hair light yellow and i wanted to dye it brown...will it turn my hair red or any other color?
It will tend to go greenish. To offset that go for a brown that's a bit redder than you want the final color to be. It will keep warmth in the hair. Going from light blonde to brown without adding warmth (red) causes greenish (ash) hues.
Answer to:
If I open a bottle of hair dye to do a test strand and close it can use it a month later?
Don't mix up the whole bottle with the developer for the test strand. Just mix a dot of each on a glass saucer and do the test. Opening the bottles does not ruin the color. If you reclose them and store in a cool dark place they'll be fine. Once the developer is mixed in with the color you have to use it right away.

Are you afraid of being along when your kids move out?
A little, because they are totally the center of our lives now. Will my husband and I still know each other? What will I do with my time? I know I want them to stay close and be around a lot, but as long as they do that I am looking forward to having freedom. Haven't had that since college days, and not really even then!

If you could do it over again what would you do differently about your wedding?
I would have included my third best friend in the wedding party instead of just having 2 bridesmaids. She is now the only one of the three who is still close to me. My maid of honor is now too busy to have anything to do with me!
Also, I wouldn't have hidden out in the bridal room of the church all day not knowing what was going on downstairs while waiting for the wedding to start....

Answer to:
Is there a role for grand parenting?
Disclaimer: This is a not repeat question but merely replaces my earlier question: ' Effective parenting is certainly very important. What do you think of grand parenting then?'
Oh, yes, grandparenting is so important! Having a close relationship with grandparents gives the kids a whole different set of people to love and be loved by. It allows kids to see the perspective of a different generation. It allows them to see why their parents are the way they are by seeing how they were raised.
Answer to:
How would you raise your children to be like you? Are you going to bring your child up any diffirently to the way your parents did? How do/will you discipline your child?
I want my 3 kids to be like me, and it's hard, but necessary, to accept that they are not totally like me - they are their own persons. I want them to love animals, music, and reading for example, and make great grades in school like I did. I want them to enjoy the same things I do so we can do things together all their lives. They so far show little to no interest in music or reading,...
Answer to:
Would you like to bring up your children the way your parents brought you up, or otherwise ? (Hope you get my point ?)
My parents did a great job! They raised me in a Christian home and I always felt loved and secure, although I was expected to always be good and do my best at everything I did. I was allowed to have many pets and try out many activities (band, music, horse shows, sign language etc.) I am trying to raise our children the same way I was raised in most ways. It is hard in some ways because I...

Why are moms so strict (no offense to moms) because my mom doesn't allow yu gi oh cards any more and that SUCKS!!!
Your mom might be too strict in some areas, I don't know her. But not allowing Yu Gi Oh cards is because she loves you! Those are a doorway for evil to come into your heart. One sure wouldn't think so - they are just cards, after all. But there are true stories in which kids get into those and get all messed up inside because of demons. I know, it sounds crazy. But thank your...

A study was done recently asking if people that had children could go back and not have children, about 70% said they would not. If you have children, and could go back in time, would you have children again? Honest answers only please.
I have three, and they are my biggest blessing but also the hardest thing I have ever done. If I could do it over again, I would definitely have them, but I would wait longer to have the first one ( I would wait until I was 27-28) then have the other two as soon as possible after that, so I could have had a chance to have some fun in life first, and then get it all over with within a few years...

We have a 10 year old blue healer, she has a greatly increased appetite, and thirst, but her tits are not swollen, and she has this slight shudder that lasts a short time, but it is deffinataly uncontrolable, could she be pregnant.thanks
Well, if she is not spayed and has had contact with any male dogs who are not neutered, she could be pregnant, but it sounds like she could possibly have diabetes. Increased thirst and hunger, and urination, are signs of that. If she is overweight it's even more likely. It would have to be diagnosed by a vet but it can be controlled with a change in dog food, exercise, and sometimes...
Answer to:
Is it true that once you have given birth you forget the pain because you are so elated by your newborn baby?
I could liken my 2 natural births somewhat to running a very very hard, intense race. While you are actually doing so, you are feeling very intense sensations that don't feel good, but if you are relaxing through breathing slowly, deeply etc. you can get through it, knowing that it's "pain with a purpose"; not pain that is because of an injury or something wrong. Like...

Answer to:
Did you have an epidural after childbirth and believe it was the cause of long term back pain?
With my first baby I didn't know any better and got the epidural. It caused intense itching from the waist down for months afterward, starting about 3 months out. It also led to my c section. But later I educated myself about relaxed natural childbirth and had the next two babies totally naturally and it was so much better.

I'm torn between two gentlemen, what should I do?
Which one is like your brother and best bud, the one you know you will always care about even when you're both 80 years old? Also, if you cry when something bad happens in his life, even small things, he's the one for you. Not always is it the one you have the most "chemistry" with is the best. That comes and goes. True love is what I described first.
