Answer to:
Do you still have student loans to pay back?
Nope. I am so thankful that i don't. I was able to pay most my way through school (i worked as an engineering inter making 20/hour while in school). I don't really see why people have such a hard time paying them back. My first job out of school pays 63K/year. Even if i had 80K in loans, i would be able to live comfortably and pay them off in like 3 years. Not to sure how people...

How many years does it take to earn a Master's Degree if attending college half-time?
2-2.5 years, got my MS Engineering in 1 year. So part time would be 2-2.5 years. They were others MS students in my classes that worked part time and finished in 2 years.
Answer to:
I'm scared about all the money I'll be spending on college soon...how can I possibly pay off nearly $80K in debt when all is said and done?
Pick your major carefully and you don't have to worry at all about paying back 80K. Student loans are no big deal to pay back. First year out of school i am making 60K. But everyone is right about juggling where you spend money. I just graduated and went a little crazy b/c i got 60K to spend. Rent in my new place is 16K/year, little high but the place is so awesome. Then i got my 4K...

Answer to:
Is it actually possible to afford college?
Yes. Take out serious loans if you have to. The way i figure it, i am now first year out of school and making 60K,($30/hour or $240/day) which is probably double the salary if i hadn't gone to college. Not to mention in 5 to 10 years my salary will be more like 90K-100K. Which is probably triple if i hadn't gone. And in 10 to 20 years it will be more like 120K+. Get my point. So...

Graduation: getting into the real world and making the big bucks made all the hard work worth it.

How do I help my 6 year old with ADHD to focus and with her short term memory recall. Her teacher is not versed on techniques to use in the class and I do not either. I would like to mirror this at home. Thanks
First i just want to remind you that she is six years old. I am 23 with ADHD and i have found ways to deal with memory recall that i simply adopted when not on meds. Notes and lists are my crutch to remember things. Being that your daughter is six, it might be helpful for me to share my story. My high school recommended that i be tested due to my behavior and almost failing out, sure enough...
Answer to:
Has anyone on here used Adderall? I was diagnosed with ADD as a child, but haven't been on any meds for quite awhile. Now that I'm back in college, I'm finding once again that I'm easily distracted and can't focus. Does Adderall work? Midterms are coming!
I have been prescribed 30 mg of adderall a day for the past 8 years. I basically failed out of high school until i finally found this miracle drug (no drug is a true miracle and it does have some side affects that can be severe). Adderall has made me 4.0 engineering student and i am just about to graduate with a masters in engineering all on a full ride. Don't use it without a doctor...
Answer to:
What is adderall xr 30 mg caps found in my dasughters room.
Yes, people do abuse adderall, but i don't see why. It is a very strong drug that should not be takin without doctors supervision. I have been prescribed 30 mg adderall daily for 8 years. They change your personality over time. But for me they are a miracle academic drug. I basically failed out of high school until i started adderall. I now have completed a BS in Mechanical...

Where you go is up to you
Answer to:
What is/was your College Major, and how did you decide you wanted to major in that area?
Mechanical Engineering. Choose it b/c i have always been a hands on person and realized i could not make a good living as an auto mechanic. So, i just decided to design the engines instead. The large amount of money first year out of school was a big factor. Its important to pick a degree you like, but if its basically useless pick something more practical (meaning with big $$) and keep the...

My daughter has a chance to get an audio engineering degree from a good school. She also looked at radio announcing (an area I worked in before) to which I said paywise that it would be one step above record store clerk. Am I wrong?
When i was in college (1 of the top 50 in the country), my roommate studied audio engineering because he liked music and it was easy as hell. We graduated and i got a great job as a mechanical engineer designing engines while my roommate had to flip burgers to pay rent. He and all of his buddies that graduated with him in audio engineering had to dive back into their parents pockets even with...

Answer to:
What Type of careers could you get if you studied music in college. and what courses do you have to do to be able to work with bands wile touring, and being there sound engineer?
My buddy wanted to be a sound engineer when we were in college. We graduated and i was making big money as an mechanical engineer designing engines while he flipped burgers. He realized he screwed up and went back to school to get a teachers certificate, costing him even more money. If you fail you can always teach. As for a music degree, i wouldn't recommend it, probably as useful as...

What's the average salary for a 27 year old college grad in your area?
I am 23 and just graduated and am making 60K in Ohio, which is average for mechanical engineers. But you need to be more specific. An engineer makes more out of school than most other new grads. Many of my friends can't even find a job since they blindly choose a degree program b/c it was easier than others. The funny part was is that they are surprised that i found a great job so...
