Has anyone noticed that the answerbag avatar looks like someone wearing a cape, hat and scarf, almost as if he/she is a private eye, incognito?
Yes, it's kinda like opening up the family album.:)
| 1 person likes this
Answer to:
How did you come to get your avatar?
I "borrowed" it from a website and edited it for effect.:)
Answer to:
Do you think less of people who use the default avatars?
No, of course not. I do wish there were a few less "Anonymous" members though. It would make it a little easier.
Answer to:
Do you ever feel Answerbag's motif clashes with your oh so stylish avatar?
No, my avatar can survive on it's own.
Answer to:
Ha who knew you could edit your avatar? like mine.
I knew.
Answer to:
How long have you had your current avatar?
I created and used it, on Y/A, for about six months, before I came to AB. Here I've used it for the entire time I've been here.
| 1 person likes this
Answer to:
Did you make your icon, or take it from somewhere else (like the internet)?
I borrowed it from the background of a website, which I can't find again and edited it for effect.
Answer to:
Due to the small size of the avatars, have you ever thought one looked like something it was not? I do it all the time.
Yes, I've had that happen a few times.
Answer to:
If you searched long and hard for the perfect avatar only to discover someone else had it as well, would you change it?
I might change it, if he told me where he got it from.
Answer to:
Do you think you have a good avatar? Did you make it?
Yes, it suits me. I kinda made it. I "borrowed" it and then edited it for effect.
Answer to:
I don't mean this in a mean way but do you wish that AB users had different avitars besides the "answerbag" so that people are easier to tell apart?
No, but a few less "Anonymous" members would make it easier.
Answer to:
Did you ever change you avatar or do you ever plan to?
I changed mine from the default bag to what you see now and I have no plans of changing it again.
Answer to:
Would you be offended if my icon wasn't me?
No problem! My avatar isn't me either.:)
Answer to:
Does a person's avatar affect how u interpret the question they're asking or saying? like a smiley face will make you read their q or a in a different light to an angry face?
I believe an avatar can have a subliminal effect on the viewer.

Answer to:
I lost all my avatars. WTF am I going to do now?
I'm sure you will think of something. I'm glad you didn't lose your abbreviations!:)
Answer to:
Do people try to judge others based on their avatar and if so how would you judge this one(i.e is this a fake picture, is he actually a he, wild?, loose?, moral?, educated?)? And how often should I change my avatar to keep all guessing?
I wouldn't say that people "try" to judge, but I do feel that an avatar can subliminal influence an individual's opinion of the user. It's really hard, for me, to make out what your avatar is .... sorry.
Answer to:
Do you have friends on Answer Bag that have never changed their avatar?
Yes, scanning through my friends list, I see at least ten that have not changed, as far as I know.
| 1 person likes this
Answer to:
Do you ever feel as if you were not talking to actual people since you often don't see them, but their little avatars?
No, it's not a problem for me. I figure that there is a person back there someplace!!

Answer to:
I changed my avatar from a Celtic knot to a West Highland Terrier. I don't actually own a Westie so do you consider this to be falsification on my part? If it matters, I hope to get one once I am sure that I am not allergic to dogs.
No problem! I'm not the Shadow either, but don't let that get around.:)

Answer to:
Does it bother you when an experienced ABer changes his/her avatar once you've come to recognize them by it?
No, as long as they keep the same username.

"Once" The day I signed onto AB, I changed from the default bag to my present avatar and haven't changed it since.

Not that I'm aware of and there are many Shadows on AB.

Answer to:
What makes your AB avatar important to you?
Because I can't find the site I "borrowed" it from, so it's the only copy that I have.:)
Answer to:
Why do many people use pictures of people that are NOT them
Personally, I don't have a picture of myself scanned into my computer and I can't find one online either.

Answer to:
Are you glad on AB, you can choose your own avator instead of just choosing from a few created ones?
Yes, I'm glad there is a choice. It adds personality to the site.
Answer to:
Do you prefer ABer's to always use the same avatar or do you prefer when they change it often to see what their new avatar will look like?
Once I can recognize the name, it doesn't matter to me.
Answer to:
Are you still using the same avatar that you've used since you first signed up on AB?
Yes, I am.
Answer to:
How many avatars do you have?
Just the one I'm using.
| 1 person likes this
Answer to:
Do you prefer an ABer to use a personal photo or an icon or does it matter to you?
It doesn't matter to me what they use. I think what they choose says something about them, so it's interesting, to me, what they choose.

Yes, except for the members that change their avatar daily. Then I go by the name.
Answer to:
Where did you get your avatar and what does it stand for? I swear my friends are some of the hottest or at least have the hottest avatars.
Borrowed from a website's background and cropped for effect. It stands for mystery & good over evil.

Answer to:
How do you feel about people that ask questions, answer questions, but never comment on either? Especially when they answer every question out there, even with a non-answer (when asked a favorite, answer with 'None', for example)
I try not to let it concern me. A few months back, there was a question, like this one, about a AB member that had become a Sage without awarding a point. As it turns out, the member has a condition that causes this behavior, but almost no one knew it.
Not everyone is the same and as long as they are not disruptive, that's enough for me.

Something that is up in the air, that they can't identify. It isn't anymore complicated than that.
If people considered what the acronym stands for, instead of what they want it to stand for, there wouldn't be such a big deal about UFO's. There'a no "A" in UFO.:)

When's the last time you had "live music" in your life in some way? Where were you & what did you hear?
About ten years ago, I spend about three days with relatives in Texas. Each day, the next door neighbor's children would practice their bagpipes, on the front lawn, as the sun was setting. They were pretty good!
Since then, my Texan relatives have moved. No more bagpipes.:(

How do you prefer to dry your clean clothing: hang it on drying racks inside, hang it on laundary lines in fresh air, put it in an electric clothes dryer or send it out to a drycleaners?
I use an electric clothes dryer. A lot of dust and dirt blow around, in this area, and hanging them on a line would defeat the purpose of washing them.

Living in SoCal since 1951, I've participated in many earthquakes. No major damage.

In 2003, visiting my daughter in Texas, a tornado came through the area and blew the roof off of her garage. No one was hurt.

Do you have any personal or family traditions (either passed down to you or started on your own) that bring happiness to you and yours? What? When do you observe them?
About the only family tradition I can think of that our family had and honored was we always had a Lifesavers Candy Book displayed, somewhere in the Christmas decorations, at Christmas time.
For two generations: as a child and a parent and now the books seem harder to find at Christmas time, so I imagine it will end soon.

It is not true or necessary to learn to ride a bicycle first, before learning to ride a motorcycle.

When using a desktop computer for everything, but gaming, what would be a good AMD CPU to purchase?
I usually buy as big as I can afford. Computers have a bad habit of being obsolete before you get them home! I'm currently using a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ 2.8 Mhz. I use it for everything except gaming and it has been dependable.

When's the last time you had to replace a major home appliance? Which one & how long had the previous one lasted? Was it painless or an ordeal to shop/buy the new one?
I bought a new refrigerator a year ago. It replaced the one that was in the house when purchased.
I ran into two problems during the purchase of the new unit. My bank gave me a hassle about the check I wrote (large amount of money) and when the refrigerator arrived at the house it didn't fit in the hole in the wall. The hole was not square and the refrigerator was! lol.

If you had the power to hurt people with your thoughts, would you use that power?
I have been interested in the power of the mind ever since I was in High School and have thought a lot about it through the years. I wouldn't use the power, if I had it, except in self-defense.

Some ABers have very long names. If you are one of those ABers is there a shohrtened version we can use? Thanks it will help my typing fingers. :-)
You can use S if you want. Many ABers just say "thanks" without adding any part of my screen name and that's fine too. I've been thinking about dropping the Knight part anyway. It seems to have "run it's time."

Have you ever witnessed someone who was just absolutely terrible at their job? Share this with us.
Yes. When I started off in the Machinist trade, I was given a trainer that had the reputation for being the worst machinist in the whole shop. He was slow, did everything the hard way and made a lot of "scrap" (bad parts). I was a rookie and could see how bad he was!!! And he was my trainer.:(

Did you ever great grounded as a kid? In some cases I know it could have been a long time ago, but can you recall one example of why you got grounded?
In my day, you were pounded, not grounded. The only thing I can think of happening to me, that would equate to a grounding, was the time my parents took away my car for breaking curfew.

Do you think people should eat the fish they catch, or just let them go?
If the fish is injured and bleeding, you might as well keep it, because it will probably soon die anyway. Otherwise, the choice is the fisherman's. I usually throw mine back if they are not hurt.
