Depends on how hard the terrain is. I can walk 5 miles without any provisions, water or anything. If its up a sharp slope then I'd take a break at the top. Probably bring water.
Probably also a map, if the trail is easy to miss and/or its somewhere unfamiliar.

Not really, at least not on a practical level. A lot of you might still fear 'terrorists', but they have far too little power to do anything to threaten free society.
Answer to:
I'd like to know more about Islam, but also Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Gnsosticism -- the isms--without all the spin and the dogma-Why so many-what are the differences-what are the similarities-are they worth the death of many-perhaps the planet?
It used to make me sad to know that so many died for no purpose.
The only way I could work around this was to say that religion in all forms is merely a phase in the evolution of society. Something that is temporary, yet unavoidable.

I haven't read any of this thread for it is akin to eating garbage. As far as the world, ie, anyone who's not a complete lunatic, is concerned, creationists had their chance to disprove evolution long ago. They failed and have never come a step closer since. There is no reason for anyone to read what is written here, except perhaps for the entertainment value. It is rather dull humor...

Why should the law insist we wear seat belts (or crash helmets)? After all isn't this a matter of mature choice, and we (potentially) hurt only ourselves.

Water will never exist exceeding 100C, unless you apply pressure. Even if you took a red hot iron bar at 1000C and stuck it into some water, the water would heat to 100 then evaporate.
It doesn't depend on the water, it depends on the amount of heat applied, which, as far as I know can go up as high as you want.

What is wrong with Michael Jackson?
Taken at face value, with no bias whatsoever, the fact that he bleached his skin and replaced most of his face with plastic suggests someone who considers they're appearance either way too important or not important enough. I wouldn't consider a person like that to be too wise.

Sometimes when I go to safely remove my external hard drive from its USB port, the computer says that the volume cannot be stopped right now. What do I do, and how can I avoid this message coming up in the future?
If you know nothing is happening, ie: your not copying files or using the drive in any way then its safe to remove directly.
I ignore the message. The only time when anything can be at risk is when your using the drive, which can lead to corrupted files, but even these can just be replaced.

A cyclist goes up + down a hill. Going up, she maintains a speed of 10 mph. It takes her 1 hour to get to the top. Assuming the hill is symmetric, what speed must she maintian on the way down if she wishes to average 20mph? The answer
At 10mph for 1 hr means the climb up the hill is 10 miles long. Double that to 20 miles to count for the trip down. To average 20 miles an hour on a course thats 20 miles long, you'd have to be done in 1 hour. Since 1 hour is already used for the trip up, that leaves no time for the trip down.
She'd have to be going at infinite speed.

Let me put it this way, you can either interpret the bible word-for-word which will lead you dead ends both philosophically and practically or you can accept that the bible can be interpreted many ways as it has been for centuries.
In my opinion the only way people could ever get anything out of the bible is if they accepted that its contents was open to interpretation.
