So until I have reason to not trust them - I do. Once they give reason to not trust then their privacy diminishes and they can earn it back. It is for me about trust. But giving them privacy does not mean letting them run free and wild without any parental guidance. It is a balance I think.

Can one deduct medical expenses incurred in 2007 but not paid on their tax returns in 2007? I have heard yes and no so far, does anyone know the answer. Incurred as in billed in 2007 but you did not pay it in 2007? If this is what you mean then no you cannot deduct it until you can provide a receipt showing you paid it. IF you put it on a credit card in 2007 that counts as being paid because the provider got paid just the credit card company did not.

My dad split up with a woman he lived with (but did not marry) for about 8 years. She has an adopted son. He did not ever adopt him/sign anything to be a legal guardian of him. Now she wants $1800/month...? Both filed "single" on income taxes, btw. A judge could rule in her favor (maybe). There is a case in MA where two women got together as a couple and one birthed 3 children by insemination while they were together. The non birth mom never adopted legally.
