get Linux Ubuntu, it will run so much faster than xp, i have my laptop partitioned so i can boot into either with only 10G for Ubuntu and 30G for xp. The ubuntu is amazingly fast

you can do all of that, but the static ips on the wired computers would be a DHCP address that is statically assigned to the network cards on the computer. The encryption will only effect computers trying to connect to the router via wireless anyways
