Are atheists more immoral than theists? Since morality comes from religions?
Not really since they don't necessarily have to accept the concept of immoral behavior. Since they have no agreed upon moral code, atheists are free to decide for themselves that literally nothing is categorically immoral/wrong if they so choose.

Answer to:
Can Atheists prove with concrete evidence that there is no God?
They need to show how everything in existence came to be without intelligence, including the universe and its complex systems (e.g. gravity and electromagnetism).
I have not seen anyone provide any such evidence; therefore, there is no evidence for atheism, which contends that no intelligence was involved in the creation of the universe and its contents.

Spanking is discipline not abuse. More recently, since more people feel that discipline is a bad thing, children scream at, curse at, argue with, and belittle their parents and other authority figures. It has not been good for kids, families, or society at large.

CNN article suggests atheists and agnostics know more about religion than Christians. Do you feel this is the case?
This is a blog not an article.
The poll approaches the subject assuming that a religious person would or should have equal knowledge about other religions as they do their own. Why do the writings of Philo of Alexandria (20BCE - 50CE) fail to mention Jesus at all?
To be clear, the fact that Philo didn't mention Christ is certainly no evidence that he didn't exist. Philo was just a Jewish/Greek philosopher not a historian, so there were many historical events he didn't record. Writing comprehensive history was not what he did. Furthermore, he was a Jew not a Christian, and may simply have not wanted to mention Jesus or felt that he was not important,...

Christians take their moral code from the Bible. Where to Atheists look to for moral guidance? Do Atheists believe in morals?
Many atheists will say that they do believe in morals but also believe that there is no absolute definition of moral/immoral; so, what many consider immoral, they may not. Since they have no fixed standard or moral/immoral/right/wrong, there cannot be anything that is categorically right or categorically wrong. It's all a matter of personal opinion.

Answer to:
Atheists deny the existence of God. If an Atheist argues that there is no proof of the existence of God, is it fair to require Atheists to prove the non-existence of God to support their position? If not, why?
They must show that everything came about without intelligence, including that life came about spontaneously, that is without any intelligence.
Of course, there is no such evidence, despite nearly a 150 years of research and countless millions of dollars expended.

They have a greater opportunity to do whatever they want and develop their conscience based around what they've personally defined to be right or wrong, or reject the concept of wrong altogether.
Answer to:
Once much religion bashing now atheism on the defensive every day so has the pendulum swung the other way?
Atheism and religion are not opposites, atheism and theism are. A person can be aware that some intelligence was/is responsible for the existence of the organized universe and its contents but not belong to a particular church.
Many people note that the churches are often hypocritical and unreasoning but realize that atheists are no different, just not as tightly organized.

Is it true that in a strange, paradoxical way, atheists tend to take religion more seriously than the practitioners?

Answer to:
What are your "gut instincts" regarding life in the entire universe? How about intelligent life?
What is "life"? We assume that all life is biological, but there's no reason to make that assumption.
Since we only understand about 5% of the nature of the universe, or perhaps even less, we basically know next to nothing about the nature of this place and therefore next to nothing about what "life" is limited to.
So, there could easily be life on the moon, Mars, or elsewhere. We just may...

Christians, Why do you think the Burden of proof is on atheist?
I wouldn't quite put it that way. However, to contend that the emergence and organization that took place during the first 100 seconds of the universe's existence and especially the first trillionth of a second, all with no intelligence whatsoever begs an explanation.

Answer to:
In your words, what's the difference between disbelief and nonbelief?
Disbelief means the rejection of a given belief
Non-belief means simply not believing in a given belief.
Atheism may be either one but it is also a belief.
Answer to:
Do you consider atheism a belief system, just like religions?
Yes, their non-belief in an intelligent creator requires their belief in something else. Similar to my non-belief that my house had an intelligent designer and builder. It's existence would mean I believed that it came to be by some other means.
So, yes, it is a belief system.
Answer to:
It's my opinion that atheism is a type of religion? It's a belief in nothing.
Probably a stronger than the Christian or Jewish religion, since they are steadfast in their non-belief.
In "belief without evidence" fashion, it is like what they would refer to as faith.
Answer to:
Do you think the human race will finally evolve into something kinder and better when it can rid itself of all the superstitions of a "god worship?"
They tried it in the Soviet Union, Red China, Albania, Cambodia, and North Korea. Didn't work out all that well.
Answer to:
What is the main reason Atheists don't believe in God?
A faith of sorts, that somehow the universe emerged and organized by some mysterious, unguided means. I say a faith of sorts because even though they will admit they don't know how it happened, nor have any evidence for it but they believe it nonetheless.
Answer to:
If one questions the existence of God -is there really anything definite that natural forces could not account for?
Yes, many things. However, the biggest things natural forces can't account for are natural forces themselves.
The four (4) primary forces (gravity, electromagnetism, strong and weak nuclear forces) went from non-existence to functioning in a trillionth of a second. Those forces are directly responsible for the development of the rest of the universe.

An atheist is some that has a belief that God doesn’t exist. What is someone who does not have any belief?
An infant. Atheism is not, despite what some atheists claim, the default. Ignorance is the default.
As such, atheists do have beliefs. They do believe that the universe, and all of its contents somehow came into being and instantly organized and synthesized without any conscious intelligence involved.

Does believing in evolution necessarily mean believing in the "Big Bang Theory"? Are they really synonymous, or can they be thought of as separate things?
Not at all. The BB has far more very hard to dispute, mathematically precise and sound, not carefully stitched together (with gaping inexplicable holes) evidence than the theory of evolution.
Answer to:
What is the difference between evolution and adaptation?
Adaptation occurs (e.g. a bird's beak getting slightly longer over time) whereas evolution does not (e.g. a bird becoming something other than a bird).
Answer to:
Do you know the difference between evolution and abiogenesis?
Indeed I do, although neither one has convincing evidence.
Answer to:
Is evolution just a theory or fact?
No, only limited mutation occurs (e.g. a beak getting a little longer). But, biological evolution where one kind of animal evolves over time and becomes another kind of animal does not occur.
Else we would see abundant evidence of it. We don't.

Because the theory hasn't been successfully tested to be shown to be fact. The closest evolutionists have come is to demonstrate mutations which lead to relatively minor changes within a type of creature.

The Bible seldom dealt with matters of science, but when it made statements that must have seemed bizarre at the time, in some cases science has already discovered that they were/are accurate. Others are yet to be confirmed.

Athiests: Are you sick of people trying to convert you, or hating you for your beliefs?
Far more religious people are at risk of health and life for believing than atheists are for not believing.
Answer to:
Do atheists have "faith" that God doesn't exist?
I think they simply don't believe God does exist. Even when there are things that can't be explained, they are convinced that there MUST be some other explanation, one that we just haven't yet discovered. That's perhaps where an element of faith comes in.

Answer to:
If an Atheist states they cannot be completely sure that God does not exist, then doesnt that make them Agnostic, in the sense that they dont know?
Yes it does. But, many still want to be considered to be atheists nonetheless.
Some further define it as strong and weak atheists, the weak atheists being those who can't or won't say for certain that there is no God. I see no discernible difference between that and an agnostic, but still they prefer to be called an atheist. It's OK by me.
Answer to:
If the bible says God made man then who made God? He couldn't have just been there forever.
Where is "there?" Why couldn't he have been "there" forever? We don't even know the limits of possibility in the material universe. So, just because we can't grasp a concept does not make it impossible. There are concepts about the universe which we can't grasp but they are clearly not impossible, just not yet understood by humans.

It's really not all that dramatic. People call "magic" what they can't explain, when it may simply be more advanced application of science and/or technology. Wireless computing and communications would have been considered "magic" a few hundred years ago but it's just application of scientific discovery.

It's reliable when it can be fully tested and verified. For example, we know how RF how signals operate using physics, mathematics, and most importantly because we've tested their use millions of times under a broad range of conditions. That's science we can rely on very well.
However, with things that can't be tested and verified, it's difficult to fully...

If God created our universe just 6,000 years ago, in theory we should only see stars up to 6000 light years away. Why then is the night sky full of stars and galaxies that are billions of light years away from us.
Some humans have used that 6,000 year number, and others repeat it (such as in this question) but the Bible does not.

Why do atheists not believe in God, agnostics do not know either way and believers do? I struggle to understand, as we are all fellow human beings. If it is just opinion, then it seems we can never touch or see independent truth.
Agnostics acknowledge they don't know, some contend it can't be known. Atheists and theists both believe they do know the truth about whether there is or is not a God.

If a "miracle", such as the parting of the red sea or christ raising the dead, can be shown to have a scientific and totally natural explanation, does that mean it ceases to be a miracle and merely a natural event?
A miracle is when the knowledge of science and the power to use that knowledge far exceed what humans can perform or even conceive at a given time. However, what may once be considered a miracle may later become the use of available technology based on increased scientific discovery. We yet have a very long way to go.

Should young women be viewed as "pre-pregnant"? A recent report about sharing medications indicated that it was especially bad for young women because they might get pregnant. Does viewing women as pre-pregnant undermine their value as individuals?
It's a risk management issue. If all women agreed to hold doctors and pharmaceutical companies harmeless and signed a waiver committing to never sue based on drug interaction or birth defects, this would be a complete non-issue.

It makes sense to have a reasonable grasp of science, religion, politics, economics, history, current social issues, etc. and hopefully put it all into some context.

Because so-called "weak atheists" cling to the term atheist, instead of referring to their beliefs as agnostic, even though agnostic (albeit perhaps not always an exact match) is closer to what they actually believe that the term atheist generally connotes.

They all refer to very private, repulsive, or frightening places, things, or actions. But, they refer to them in the crudest possible way. To say sexual intercourse or "fuck" give two very different impressions. To say feses or "shit" have the same effect. However, "crap" is kind of a compromise. It give similar emphasis without the perception of being crude.

These are life choices. Nobody is forcing men to work longer or women to work shorter hours. Feminists conveniently leave those facts out to make it appear that the delta is due to discrimination, when it's all about choice....

Isn't it in the nations interest to hold a "War crime investigation" on the use of torture by the Bush Administration so we can settle this divisive issue once and for all and move on to better things?
If so, then every Senator and Congressman/woman (including President Obama) should be included in the investigation and have criminal charges brought since they all knew about the waterboarding and other tactics, from CNN reports if nothing else. This includes President Obama.

In the west and other developed nations, the laws heavily favor women. In the middle east, especially Islamic "theocracies", women have virtually zero rights and opportunity. In the developing world, everybody's life is in the crapper.

Why is there no record outside of the bible of all the dead rising from their graves? Nobody thought that was worth mentioning? Not even some obscure personal diary entry from some farmer's wife that "we buried him yesterday, but then he came back"?
1) The Bible records very few resurrections, the most recent being > 2,000 years ago.
2) 2,000 years ago, few common people had the ability to record events in writing such that they would be copied, distributed, and preserved for posterity.
3) Those who did have that ability did not want anything good done by Jesus or his apostles to become publicly known.

I believe that "religion" should be interpersonal & that whether we like it or not, no two people believe the exact same thing. So, why do some people spend so much time trying to push what they believe onto others?
AB is a great example of everybody imposing their religious, non-religious, anti-religious, or extremely religious views on everyone else. Most people think they've got it all figured out and think the others are foolish for not believing as they do.

You should feel very good that you gave him up for adoption rather than killing him. He will thank you one day. Be glad that he is with a family that loves him. Evolution and the origin of matter are not related.
However, the existence of the myriad complex systems throughout the observable universe is relevant. Not just the origin but how they co-exist in with such highly ordered and complex interdependencies with no intelligence involved. There is no evidence that this did or can occur.

If you are going to choose your lifetime partner, would you rather choose the one you dearly loved (but you feel that he is not that madly in love to you) OR the person whom you know/feel truly loves you (but you are not so much in love to him)?
Option 1 - at some point, you will tire of being the pursuer. Bad choice.
Option 2 - at some point, you may happen upon a person that you feel you would/could truly love who seems to feel the same about you.
Either could work but the chances of long term success are lower than the optimal arrangement.

If you have an otherwise good relationship, try to work it out. If the relationship was on the skids anyway, kick her to the curb on move on.

What does cheating means to you? does having a long distance relationship means you need to cheat or look for someone just not to feel alone? coz you're not with your wife or husband?
Intentionally pursuing an ongoing intimate relationship with someone else. Talking to someone everyday at work is not cheating unless you begin to share intimate thoughts and feelings that you don't share with most other people. Especially if you begin to express feelings for that person. Then, you've crossed the line.

What is the phenomenon when friends and family get so used to a person with disability that they don’t recognize the person cannot perform a specific task but the friend or family member expects the person to perform the task anyway?
It's insensitivity, not necessarily as a result of ill will, more likely lack of thoughtfulness and awareness. I have disabled persons in my family and try to be ever conscious of assisting with tasks that are hard or impossible for them.
I find I have to remind others to be as conscious. It's just that I am very, very close to these individuals and care deeply.

Is it OK for a man who gets married, who never wore jewelry in his life and who does not like to wear rings to not be required to wear a wedding ring in order to prove that he truly loves his wife or must he have to wear the ring? Thoughts?
I am that guy and adamantly refuse to wear a ring. It's completely unnecessary and would make me uncomfortable 24x7.
She won't leave home without hers, and that's her choice. It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if she never wore them, except for the fact that I paid $6,500 for the engagement ring alone.

No, I wouldn't consider it nor would she expect me to. She proudly took my name and I'm proud for her and our kids to have it. The kids are proud to have it too, and it makes their lives easier. They makes friends more easily because of the family name.

My husband doesn't want us to have Santa involved in our Christmas ever, he was raised to think it was pagan and Santa took away from Jesus. I had Santa and I loved it and I want my kids to have him. We both feel strongly. What should I do?
His objection is based on principle, feeling that it would be religiously wrong to include Santa, whereas yours is personal preference.
I would trade this for something else you disagree on. Let him have this one, you take the next one.

To shrink the fibroids by restricting the blood flow to the uterus, avoiding the necessity of uterine hysterectomy or myomectomy (surgical removal of fibroids).

What is uterine fibroid embolization?
It's basically tying off (embolizing) the blood vessels to the uterus. Since fibroids grow as a result of blood flow (they essentially become bags full of blood), they are denied their source and shrink over time. I understand it's about 80% effective.
The idea is to shrink them enough so that they are no longer a problem, until she reaches menopause - at which time the decrease...

Is it worse when a man says no to a woman's marriage proposal than when a woman says no to a man's?
Not really but I imagine women might feel a little more humiliated because they don't deal with rejection as often.
Personally, I think that's a question that shouldn't be asked if you aren't 100% sure of the answer.

Do you think women and men should stay in their respected but seperate roles that societies place on them? Do you think it makes a community and home run more smoothly or do you think its no longer appropriate in today's world?
Men's and women's role overlap to a great extent, more than ever. People should do whatever works for them. However, most people choose traditional roles, at some level.
For example, most working mothers tend to take on the traditional mother role in how they interact with their children and what responsiblities they take on.

For the same reason car salesmen get defensive when I know more about their product and company than they do. They feel embarrassed and possibly intimiated.
